In the 31st century, humanity no longer resides on Earth, their old planet having been destroyed centuries ago by a technological apocalypse. Humanity now survives on Magnae, a dying dystopian world where they must wage war against a cryptic alien race from Planet Luxurae. Fauxangels - a species defined as much by their glowing skin as by their compulsion to guide and govern other life forms with violent righteousness.
During this war, mankind’s strongest must balance their loyalty to their human comrades with their desire for ultimate power. Their vital energy and strong ideals cause turmoil among companions and commanders. Follow the lives of these war recruits of Planet Magnae as they work to protect their world from alien threats, godly forces, and malefactors within their own ranks. It is up to these recruits to preserve the last remnants of the human race.
This amazing sci-fi novel took me by surprise! This is an enamoring tale of humanity's attempt at self-preservation after the technological downfall of Planet Earth. In a last ditch effort to preserve the human race, humanity finds itself on a foreign world on the edge of the galaxy, Planet Magnae.
Upon their arrival, they find themselves not only struggling with living conditions but also battling with the planets native species. (The Fauxangels) This tale posed many questions for me through religious undertones and the moral dilemma of self-preservation through invasion.
With many depth filled, diverse characters to fall in love with, this story is a wonderful ride! I found myself enthralled in the ever changing POVs and loved the opportunity to get to know each individual character. Jason Boje did an incredible job depicting everyone's personal voice!
This dystopian sci-fi novel was filled with emotion and action! I absolutely adore this story!
i LOVED this so much. the world building was so insane and intriguing, and it was so much fun to jump into. this book gave SO many emotions all at once- giggling till my hearts content, crying and drowning in my tears, screaming till my lungs hurt and hitting so many bumps of varied emotions. it was such an insane but incredible world to get stuck into! it was a roller coaster ride but masterpiece all in one. i loved the different dialogues and dynamics of each character, it made it so fun to read. i am not the biggest si-fi reader but this was such a fascinating and easy (but emotional!) read. Thank you Jason for allowing me the opportunity to read this as an ARC- definitely recommend getting stuck into this book!
If Dune, Attack on Titan, Starship Troopers, and Enders Game had a baby, that would be this book. Very classic feeling sci-fi novel! You’re planted right in an otherworldly planet of humans fighting for survival and mysterious alien foes out to wipe them out. This book will certainly take you on an adventure.
Sci-fi books are not my normal read but I want to expand my genres and was excited to read this arc copy. I enjoyed the story throughout the entire book. How the human race had to stand up and fight back towards the Fauxangles. Finding love during a crazy time. Every piece of the story meshed together so well that I now look forward to reading more sci-fi books. I definitely don’t want to give out spoilers but this book is amazing and you will enjoy it from start to finish!
When I first started this book it was a lot of information at once and I was afraid I couldn’t follow the book because of it. Also not having a pov from one character but a story about several was out of my comfort zone. After a few chapters I was pleasantly surprised how easy to follow it was. This book is well written and really takes you into the story of planet magnae. Its not a palet cleanser or easy read for in between. Its a story that really takes your emotions. You get to know the characters and evolve with them. Also very easy to fall in love with some story lines. Personally Quinn and Hugo were my favorites 😉. The ending was just great and it really gave me closure of the books itself. I would really recommend this book to a sci-fi/fantasy fan.
I got the privilege of reading the arc of this amazing story! I don’t usually go for sci-fi, but when I read the description I was so hooked. This book will keep you on your toes. It’s so well written and such an interesting read. I can’t wait to check out more from this author. I’m happy this was my first sci-fi book, makes me want to check out more in this genre! Definitely recommend.
I was honored to be an arc reader for Planet Magnae. This was my first Sci-fi book and while it took me out of my comfort zone of fantasy novels, I throughly enjoyed reading it. The characters it follows have depth and you will be tempted to pick a favorite but will find yourself unable because you will love them all. Jason Boje told this story with amazing imagery, great undertones of religious creation and foresight of humanities downfall through technology. If you like Sci-fi you will love this book.
I was kindly sent an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tales of Planet Magnae is a compelling sci-fi adventure set in a future where humanity has destroyed Earth and now inhabits the planet Magnae. The story follows a group of soldiers fighting against the alien race known as the Fauxangels, as they struggle to protect humanity and uncover hidden truths about their ancestors.
The writing is richly descriptive, making it easy to visualise the world and immerse yourself in the action. The characters are distinct, each with their own voice, and it’s enjoyable to switch between their perspectives. Though it takes a little time to adjust to the different POVs, the effort is well worth it.
Packed with adventure, mystery, and strong character development, this book offers an exciting mix of dystopian and sci-fi elements. Definitely check this one out if you’re a fan of the genre! (Or if you’d like to become one 😊)
Sci-fi is my not typical read. But I will say this book has changed my perspective completely and I can’t wait for more from this author. The story was not only captivating but it was well written. Throughout reading this, it was very compelling to me to read about something like this and the author did a great job using creativity to bring this to life. If you love sci-fi this is definitely a read for you. I will recommend this 1000% to readers. I loved it a lot and I think others will to.
I struggle with science fiction as I only really started reading it last year, so sometimes can find it a bit daunting, but I really enjoyed Tales of Planet Magane!
I was kindly sent an e-arc of this prior to the release on November 8th, and I’m so glad I was - this book took me completely by surprise!
Humans have completely destroyed planet earth so are living on another planet now - Magnae - and there is currently a war the humans are stuck in, against an alien race - Fauxangels. I could say more about the plot, but I think this is a book best going into knowing as little as possible, and letting this imaginative and creative story take you on a fantastic adventure!
The writing style for this book is beautiful. So descriptive and vivid, it’s not hard to imagine the world and everything in it - everything came alive around me as I read and I was completely immersed in the book. The writing style is a perfect example of how books can provide that escapism we all love so much when reading, and Tales of Planet Magnae definitely helped me escape the real world for a while.
The characters are all so well developed. I felt like everyone had their own unique voice - i did take me some time to get used to reading the different POVs but once I’d gotten familiar with everyone’s voice, I found it enjoyable to switch between characters. Tales of Planet Magnae was in fact one of those occasions that when reading, there was no one I didn’t like reading about it spending time with!
As someone who doesn’t usually pick up science fiction, this was a book I found myself really enjoying. I’d definitely recommend this to any sci-fi fans.
So, I just finished Tales of Planet Magnae, and wow—this one took me way out of my comfort zone. I’m not usually a sci-fi person, but Jason Boje has this incredible way of pulling you right into the story. Picture this: it’s the 31st century, Earth’s a goner, and humans are scraping by on Planet Magnae. But survival isn’t just about the rough living conditions; they’re also battling these creepy aliens they call fauxangels.
What really hooked me, though, were the characters. We’re not just talking about surface-level tough fighters—Boje digs deep into what makes each of them tick. You get a real sense of who they are, their backstories, and why they’re fighting. It’s wild, but it also feels so personal, like you’re right there with them.
Honestly, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I didn’t think I’d get into a dystopian sci-fi novel, but this book might have just changed my mind about the genre. If you’re on the fence about sci-fi, or just want something with a lot of heart and action, I’d say give Tales of Planet Magnae a shot. You might just find yourself hooked, like I did.
I do not normally read books without heavy romance. Now I do read book that have all the other elements in this book. So this book isnt too far off from my usual reads. This being said, this book STILL kept my interest the entire time even without romance. This book is so good. I adored the characters, the plot, the way everything unfolded. It just flows so well. If you are a SciFI lover then for sure read this book.
This is an exciting Scifi with a dystopian type setting. The book is packed full of action. The book moves quickly as the story unfolds with humanity living on a new planet, and fighting a war against an alien race. The book introduces us to several complex characters who are vital in the war. We get to see their struggles as they face battles against the alien race, and do everything they can to save humanity. This book has an intriguing story thats full of unexpected twists, and turns. This book will have you transported into its world within the first few pages, and you wont want to leave even when you know the read world awaits you.
This book is packed with action, adventure, and characters that will stay with you even after finishing this book.
We follow a group of soldiers who are fighting against an alien species called fauxangels, and they not only have to protect humanity from diminishing to nothing but also find out the truth about their ancestors and the fauxangels.
This was a great read with dystopia and sci-fi mix. I really appreciated this story, and the author did a great job in keeping me intrigued with the plot and rooting for the characters!
I really enjoyed every second of this book! There was so much action, suspense and even a little bit of romance. If you are a sci-fi lover like myself, i strongly recommend reading this. You'll fall inlove with almost all of the characters !!!
“I’m choosing humanity a hundred times out of a hundred.”
Jason Boje has written a creative and action packed book. While the book takes place in the future, its topic and themes are quite relevant to our time. He articulates realistic dialogue and the character development is on point. You really get a sense of who each character is and what motivates their actions. It wasn’t as engaging as I hoped, that being said I can see this being an amazing tv series or movie.
I am grateful to have received a Reviewer Manuscript for Tales of Planet Magnae in exchange for a honest review.
I had the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC. I normally do not read sci-fi, so I was a bit hesitant to start the book. However, the book was so much fun! I loved the different characters and following the different POVs. In the beginning, the book throws a lot of information at you, which can be a bit confusing, but everything will fall into place if you keep reading.
I am so happy that i had the privilege to read this book before it is released! As i have only just got back into my reading phase, this was the perfect book to start it off! Tales of Planet Magnae is filled with the perfect amount of action and i absolutely fell in love with all the characters! I especially love Quinn and Frederica! Overall, I give this book 5 stars as it enveloped me into the plot and I really felt as though it was experiencing this adventure with all of the other characters! The last thing i have to say is “when our souls meet again” ❤️
I loved this book! I was hooked from the beginning and when I started I couldn't put it down. My favourite character is Devil Child, but I loved watching development of other characters too. The pace of the book was ideal and it's so well-written! I can immerse myself in the world instantly even now. Highly recommend!

I had the honor of being an ARC reader for *Planet Magnae*. This was my first venture into sci-fi, and while it took me out of my usual comfort zone of fantasy, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are incredibly well-developed, and you’ll find yourself wanting to pick a favorite, only to realize you love them all. Jason Boje weaves this story with vivid imagery, layered themes of creation, and a thought-provoking look at humanity’s potential downfall through technology. If you're a sci-fi fan, this is a book you won’t want to miss.
This was an interesting read. Earth has been destroyed so the remaining humans settle on a different planet called Magnae. Several generations later they are a people divided and are at war. I enjoyed this read though I recommend making notes of all the characters and their nicknames cause the other interchanges them a lot and it’s hard to keep straight who is who.
I live how detailed this book is an how he describes each of the characters this book paints a good picture I liked that I got to read different characters points of views
As an ARC reader for this book I was honored to be asked. Normally I read fantasy and thrillers, sometimes romances, but Sci-Fi isn't usually what I choose.
Jason created an amazing world (planet) where you follow the story of a couple of soldiers who fight fauxangels. Although I had to get used to the different nicknames and who was who, it was nice to read this story from different perspectives. I don't want to spoil to much, but I cheered, cried and was excited to see how the story was going to end. I had a good time reading this and will be keeping an eye on this author for new books.
I was honoured to be asked to ARC read this book and I have to say it was a fab. The story was compelling and draws you from the beginning. If you enjoy sci-fi then this book is a must read. Out November 8th.
I really liked the story in this book. While it has the basic structure of humanity struggling for survival on an alien planet, it had some unique twists and turns that were very refreshing. Lots of gore and military adult language. I struggled a little with some of the way things were described which is why it is only 4 stars, but I personally struggle with a 3rd person omniscient voice. The descriptions of battles were masterfully done and clear and easy to follow. Overall I enjoyed this read a lot.
As a reader of Tales of Planet Magnae by Jason Boje, I was drawn into the detailed and immersive world of Magnae, where humanity faces the ethical and environmental consequences of their choices in a vivid, otherworldly setting. The characters are complex and layered, each wrestling with moral decisions that echo issues in our own world. Boje’s style balances thought-provoking themes with an engaging narrative that kept me invested. It's a refreshing sci-fi read, offering both action and reflection—a must for fans of philosophical, character-driven sci-fi.
