You know the saying that everyone has a tiger inside them? Well, in this book, the main character, Delilah, has a wolf inside her. Seriously.
What does this book promise? A small-town romance sprinkled with a bit of fantasy, featuring a grumpy hero paired with a sweet, sunshine-like heroine. But this sunshine girl isn’t human—she’s a werewolf. Yet, she wouldn’t hurt a fly.
So, if you enjoy supernatural creatures and don’t mind if the story softens your heart a little, then this book is just right for you. The small-town setting, Fern Port, is the kind of place where the biggest excitement usually comes from a new delivery at the flower shop—at least until Delilah’s wolf starts making uninvited appearances. In her day-to-day life, she’s known as a kind and helpful girl, but when the full moon rises, Delilah needs all her strength to keep her inner beast in check. She’s terrified of herself and struggles to believe that she can still be herself in that form.
The story’s other main character, Cedric, isn’t exactly the type who smiles easily. Under the weight of family pressure and heavy responsibilities, he comes across as a serious and determined man. But as he gets to know Delilah, his armor slowly starts to crack. The attraction that develops between them isn’t just another romance for the shelf; here, there’s real stakes in how well they can accept and love each other, flaws and fears included. And, of course, their secrets… Because let’s face it, it’s not every day you meet a girl who’s hiding a wolf inside her.
If you dive into this story, be prepared to be captivated not just by the romance, but also by the characters’ struggles with their own demons—or in this case, their wolves.
What I found a little lacking was that Cedric didn’t seem as grumpy to me as I think the author intended. He was more tender, just not with everyone. But even so, I wouldn’t mind having him around…😆💗 Sometimes the story was a bit harder to immerse myself in (though that depends on my mood), but I absolutely LOVED the last third of it!
Overall, if you love romantic stories woven with supernatural elements, where the characters embark on deep emotional journeys, then this book is for you. While the plot may unfold a bit slowly at times, by the end, it pulls you in and meets every expectation.
