A grieving widow is struggling with the death of her high school sweetheart, while a mysterious woman is struggling to make her own amends. Can secrets from their entwined past hold the key to their futures?
Katelyn Murray moves to a small town in Massachusetts as a high school senior and quickly finds she has a secret admirer. As she responds to his written notes, she falls in love with the man behind the beautiful words and endless questions.
A dozen years and a rocky marriage later, her life is shattered by her husband’s sudden death, leaving confusion, unanswered questions, and guilty grief while mourning him and the love she initially felt for the boy from those letters. Katie leans on her friends to overcome this loss but feels something is amiss. She searches for answers, never expecting who may hold the key or where it could lead.
With the unconventional help of a stranger with secrets and aspirations of her own, a chain of events unfolds, and Katie starts to find the journey she was meant to be on and a second chance at chasing yesterday.
Lynn Ricci is a hopeless romantic at heart, so it's no surprise that she writes romance novels about love, friendship, and happily ever afters. Lynn lives in Massachusetts, and when she is not writing for business or pleasure, she can be found painting or reading on the closest beach.
Lynn Ricci's newest novel, Matchless, is due out in Fall 2025. She is the author of Chasing Yesterday, a contemporary romance with a touch of fantasy or mystical elements, released in 2025. Her other novels are The Dating Intervention, a contemporary romance, followed by Cursed, a paranormal romance.
This was such a fun, sweet romance with heartache, betrayal and found romance. It was definitely a page turner for me. Katie’s husband passed away from a brain tumor, her high school sweetheart, or so she thought. After her husbands passing she finds out so much about the man she married that just threw her through a loop. With the help of family, friends and a “ghostly” visitor, she find herself again and the actual man she shld have been with from the beginning! I hope there is a sequel to this book, so we can continue following Katie and her journey!!
I LOVE this book!! Chasing Yesterday was such a great book - it caught my interest from the start with the protagonist emotionally dealing with her dying husband and his funeral wishes. But heartbreak turns to heartwarming as she gains strength from an unlikely ally and her circle of friends to get another chance with her first love. Sweet story. This would be a perfect for JoJo Moyes or Nicholas Sparks fans. Treat yourself and read this beautiful story...
This is a book about High school sweethearts, but you know something else is going on. There are lots of questions after the main character’s husband’s death.
You really feel the emotions as a widow and how she’s handling life after his death.
There is a spiritual element that makes the story even sweeter.
This is a sweet book with some heart wrenching ideas.
I had no idea what this book was about when I purchased and a few pages in I was hooked. This one won’t take you long to eat up.
Author does great job helping you imagine the small town scenery. You can almost picture yourself walking through town w brick side walks lined with cute shops and kids going by on their bikes.
While the story is a love story, it also has the touch of what we all hope for-hope that true love wins and that someone somewhere is looking out for us.
Book friends, if you're looking for a romantic rollercoaster that's all about second chances, fate, and a little bit of mystery, Chasing Yesterday by Lynn Ricci is calling your name!
This was such a fun, sweet story! Ricci weaves together a story of heartache, grief, and betrayal, but also friendship, self-discovery, first love, and the cutest of secret admirers.
When Katelyn/Katie was in high school, she began receiving letters in her locker from a secret admirer. Afraid she wouldn't think the same about him once they met, he kept holding off on meeting in person. She begins writing him back, and through the magic of correspondence, Katie begins to have real feelings for him too.
Fast forward to present day, when Katie is grieving the death of her husband, and secret admirer. She feels guilty over not being as despondent as a grieving wife should, since for the past few years, their marriage wasn't in a good place.
She processes all her feelings and memories with a few of her friends who have remained close since high school, and she begins to remember who she was before she got married, and what dreams she used to have.
I don't want to give away too much, so I'll stop there, but I absolutely adored this book!! There's a big surprising twist to one of the characters, and it's probably not the one you may be thinking of. I loved the close knit friendships she still has and how she relies on them so deeply, since I am still super close friends with some of my friends from high school. There's something special about the friends with whom you walked through the awkward and difficult days of teenager-hood.
If you're looking for a unique, NON cookie-cutter love story, I would highly recommend Lynn Ricci's book. It was one that I truly enjoyed reading, and will remember for a long time! Ready for her to write some more!!!
I don't even know where to start with my review of Chasing Yesterday. I'm sitting here at my computer trying to put some descriptive prose together for this masterpiece. I went into this book thinking it is going to be your typical second chance romance and I was wrong. So very wrong.
Chasing Yesterday is a well-written novel that will take you by surprise. Katelyn Murray is a recent widow who discovers things about her past that are about to change her life. Katie's perception of her high school years, dating her husband Bryan, and their not-so-perfect marriage change with the appearance of a stranger Katie can't seem to shake.
The author wrote a fantastic and emotional story. Heartbreaking yet heartwarming, Chasing Yesterday dives into a lot of everyday situations that may resonate with the reader. The author did a great job creating this world, setting it up, and developing the characters. There are realistically written stressful situations and hard decisions, but also ones filled with love, support, and new journeys.
I typically stay away from books involving loss of parents, husbands, or children. My poor heart and head can't take it; however, I'm glad I took a chance on Chasing Yesterday. This is one of my favorite reads of 2024.
This book was just what I needed to read. I was in the process of recovering from reading an absolutely horrible, horrifying book by one of my favorite crime/thriller authors, about a depraved and despicable family when I picked up this book. It was just the "palate cleanser" that I needed: likeable characters, charming setting, well-told story with romance and a bit of the supernatural. The author is a master of picking the right details that made me feel as if I were in the scene, and she is a master narrator, moving from scene to scene smoothly. Although the protagonist, Katie, is about fifty years younger than I am, I can still appreciate a heartwarming story with a happy ending. On my first date with my soulmate, when I was sixteen and he was eighteen, I knew that he was "the one." Although we had our ups and downs in our teens, we always found our way back to each other. We have been married now for 59 years, and he is still my knight in shining armor....Thank you, Lynn Ricci, for such a delightful read.
I firmly believe that what is meant to be will be—do you share this belief? Do you believe in soulmates? This book beautifully explores themes of lost love and features a mysterious woman on a quest to earn her wings. From the very first page, I was captivated by Katie's journey, which unfolds seamlessly from start to finish. The writing is exquisite, and I found myself completely engrossed, finishing the book in just two days. I highly recommend this gem; you won’t regret it! I even purchased several paperback copies to give away as Christmas gifts—it's the perfect present for readers of all ages. I’m giving this book five stars for several reasons: it’s an easy read, i believe in fate, offers a love story, and is reasonably priced.
This was a sweet romance that deals with a husband’s death and the secretes he kept that caused hardship in their relationship. Katie then goes on to discover those secrets that started years ago in her senior year. While mourning her husband she sets out to follow her photography dreams and to find her soulmate with some unconditional help along the way. Those who love Slow burn, soulmates, second chance romance I would highly recommend this book.
This was a gravitational, pull you in,quick read. It was exciting, sad, chilling and so relatable. It brought me back to many memories of younger years and back home as well. Highly recommend! It left me with goosebumps for sure. Sometimes you don't truly know a person until they are gone and also realize what you might have missed along the way.
Chasing Yesterday offers a real life mix of complicated relationships, strong friendships and the heartbreak of a death, but that loss leads to an unexpected journey and second chance at love. The mystery to solve in the beginning held my interest and how it played out kept me turning the page. This was a quick read, and I loved how it all tied up in the end :)
