Discover how mass murderer Christine Marie Paolilla, at the age of 17, became responsible for killings that were known as the Clear Lake Murders. We live in a world of much misfortune—with violent crime being one of the most shocking and tragic of all human behaviors. Every so often, these crimes stand out, both because of their egregious nature and the twisted complications of the factors at work.
The four slayings that Christine Paolilla was accused of can be said to fit this bill. She killed four people in cold blood and didn't even bat an eye. She never really seemed remorseful, and her sociopathic tendencies were made clear in the aftermath of her trial and conviction.
Nevertheless, the walls eventually closed in on her. Her boyfriend and partner in crime, Chris Snider, had taken his own life prior to arrest, leaving Christine to face charges for the people killed, all alone. She did her best to portray herself as a victim—but after the riveting testimonies of eyewitnesses and a mountain of evidence had piled up, the jury wasn't so easily convinced.
This book follows all of the twists and turns of this startling and thought-provoking case.

It always amazes me what some humans can do to other humans. I'm talking about a gruesome murder here, not war. And these were two teenagers. Mr. Smith's research was very in-depth. There are few surprises in the book but the details of the teenager's life and the victim's lives helped me follow the victim's background.
First, it’s not 101 pages, it’s 83; the rest is just filler about his other work. Unfortunately I saw a pic of another one of his books that I think I may have already purchased and if so, I’m regretting it already. The writing here is not only disjointed, it’s downright raggedy. (As a mango seed, if you’re from the south). It’s all over the place, it’s not all in chronological order, facts were left out (I realized this wasn’t my first time reading about this girl) and names were mixed up no less than 4 times! This isn’t fiction, getting names wrong is unacceptable! And for a true crime fan, the worst part in all of this mess is when the writer mistakenly calls her a “serial killer”. She’s a mass murderer, if you don’t know the difference then this isn’t the genre for you to be writing in. But close to the end, the writer says “she could be a serial killer” since she lies so much. Are you serious?
Mr. Jack Smith I must admit is one of my favorite authors. While I must say this is not one of my favorite books of his. That being said he is always straight to the point and keeps his opinions mainly to himself (at least about the crime and case). I also know when I read his books that they will be well researched and have the most up to date info. So if you are looking for a great author then look no further then here…
