Knotty Omegas #3

Knot Their First Rodeo

Rate this book
Genesis . Genesis Valentine knows exactly what she wants out of life. As a decorated journalist, she is determined to tell stories that matter, and to make a difference in the world. Unfortunately, as an unbonded omega, she’s considered a liability in the field. If she wants to take her career to the next level, she has to show her editor that she can get her scent under control. And that means taking on a pack, at least temporarily.

At almost thirty, Genesis should’ve been bonded years ago, but she refuses to be a slave to societal expectations or even biological needs. She has no interest in being owned by a bunch of alphaholes who would try to control her life and interfere with her plans. So, when she’s matched with a temporary pack of widowed alphas who have no intention of mating again, Genesis knows she’s found the perfect solution to all her problems. However, when she meets the handsome pack of silver foxes, Genesis quickly realizes she might’ve gotten more than she bargained for.

Orlando . Orlando Rossi has built a perfect life. His business is wildly successful, and his packmates’ artistic and farming ventures are equally impressive. They have a beautiful home and more money than they can spend. Perfect.

Except for the gaping hole where their omega used to be. In the decade since her death, Orlando has done everything he can to get Pack Rossi back on their feet. They’ve come so far, but he knows something is still missing.

When they take on a smart, feisty temporary omega who smells like heaven, Orlando knows immediately that everything is about to change. Unfortunately, both Genesis and Orlando’s packmates are stubborn, strong-willed, and set in their ways. Is it too late to find love again, or will Genesis be the fresh start they didn’t know they needed?

A.J. grew up voraciously reading her grandmother’s Harlequin romance novels alongside Madeline L’Engle and R.L. Stine. She has remained an avid reader, whose book choices are as eclectic as her personality. As an anxious, Black, chaotic bisexual, A.J. Shirley writes spicy fantasy romance that is unapologetically inclusive.

Age gap, “fake” courting, and forced proximity abound in this why choose omegaverse. Super easy read and I loved getting to read Gen’s story with her own Alphas. But while it was an easy, and enjoyable, read it somehow also felt a bit too fast? Like the ending felt rushed or parts seemed to jump. Still rather enjoyable though!

One Choice Can Change Your Life…

But Not Always For The Reasons You Expected 😉

A.J. has become one of my favorite omegaverse authors. I can’t tell you how fast I devour these amazing stories. Here’s why…

Right away I was blown away by the bada$$ confidence & strength that Genesis, our FMC, exhibited. I had seen glimpses of it in the previous story (when Genesis’s brother ended up in Destiny’s pack in the 2nd book—not necessary to read beforehand, but gives a little background that I’m thankful I had going into this story), so I knew it was there, but seeing it full force on the pages, just made me wanna clap for her & give her anything she wanted (her boss disagreed with me 🙄😝😂). That was probably for the best though, because it’s what set off a chain of events that led her to being a temporary omega for Pack Rossi, a pack of older men that lost their omega many years ago. As the head of his pack, Orlando did what he could to keep them thriving, even through the loss of their center & their heart. Genesis, as a scent match, is nothing he could’ve prepared for though. Between her determination that things with them are only temporary, as well as his pack mates’ stubborness & fear (ok, mainly Luke 🤷🏻‍♀️😝), it seemed almost impossible for them to come together as a pack, but his determination to see ALL of them happy together outweighed any objections they could throw at him. Now granted, I had to cut Luke & Gabriel some slack because we all know grief has no timeline & is different for everyone (Luke’s internal rambling though, y’all, I didn’t know what I wanted to do more, laugh or shake my head 😂, and ughhhh, Gabriel’s artistic & romantic way of thinking & talking…just swoonworthy on so many levels 😍). It was hard to watch Orlando feel the need to shoulder all the work on making everyone happy though. Genesis may have gone to them as a temporary way of moving her career ahead, but they called to her in a way she never anticipated. None of them, nor her, were really living life in any way that could be truly considered healthy. The spark that their coming together created was just what they all needed to jumpstart their hearts, and have them all finally on the path to a HEA they all desperately needed in their lives.

I loved the wide variety of emotions that A.J. was able to pull from the characters (humor, sadness, trauma, anger, grief, flirtiness, kindness, compassion, inner strength), and the spice & chemistry was just *chef’s kiss* 🔥 (silver foxes & daddy vibes…nuff said 🥵😈). I really hope A.J. has plans for more omegaverse stories, because I’ve loved all 3 of these, and I would really love to see more in this world, or a whole new series 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

✨Also, Duchess…IYKYK…TOO funny 🤣🐓

I am a huge fan of A.J. Shirley and have devoured all of the books in this series! It's hard to choose a favorite, but this one might just have taken the top spot! I mean who doesn't love an omegaverse, why choose novel set on a farm, with a group of dirty talking silver fox alphas?! I think all my basis and then some were covered with this book!

This is definitely the spiciest book yet (hello daddy vibes!), but I also really enjoyed the pack dynamics, the plot, the character development, and just the overall vibe. There are some extremely funny scenes and lines in this one that had me laughing and smiling while reading (the sass between the pack had my heart)! The dynamics between the pack and then Genesis are spot on for a romance and I loved how the distinct personalities all worked together. I have a million good things to say about this one and it was a fantastic ending to the interconnected books in this series!

You do not have to have read the first two books in this series to read this one, however for the best reading experience (and because they're just awesome), I highly recommend you read them first. Please make sure you check the trigger warnings though as this book does deal with some sensitive topics for readers.

This book (and the entire series) gets a highly recommend from me! If you're a fan of omegaverse, why choose, second loves, or just amazing books that will pull you into the story, this is the book for you! I adored this story and am already planning on a re-read when I need those feel good vibes!

I received an eARC of this book, but the review is entirely my own.

Good read

I Liked reading Genesis' story and meeting Pack Rossi. This story had more angst than book 2, which instantly made it better but it wasn't as good as book one!

Pack Valentine's truth was frustrating and still didn't add much to the story. It wasn't given much consideration even though it fundamentally made Genesis who she was. We saw a snippet but not nearly enough, there was no closure except to know that she's interacting with them more, but no reason why. She started this temporary pack ruse to get them off her back but in the end, nothing happened.

Luke was a huge obstacle, and they finally decided to give it a real shot. Then in a matter of sentences, they were mated. All that drama for it to happen off page was infuriating.

We did we have to read Gen V's coverage of Destiny and the royal pack's mating ceremony, literally the last part of the book wss the article, to then not get the article now when its important enough to become their life's work?!

Each book is better than the last!

I have devoured this series in 3 days and I’m not mad about it. I absolutely loved reading Genesis’ story! I had a feeling she’d be the next omega in book 2 but was pleasantly surprised to learn I was right. I absolutely loved seeing how the author got more comfortable writing about certain topics as the books went on and how each story truly stood on its own but also went wonderfully together. Genesis story was heartwarming and so satisfying. I’m glad she finally stood up to her dads, was able to do the type of reporting she wanted, and actually found the perfect pack for her. I’m not sure if the author has more books in the works in this universe, but it’s fun to realize that she’s planted just enough breadcrumbs that she absolutely could for a while. But if she’s decided this was the end it would be a beautiful ending to this story.

Slightly abrupt resolution but overall pretty good read

Genesis was intriguing from the first book in this series and her own full story really is a good one. Because of how the author presents the relationship, it does feel slightly abrupt in how their emotions connect, however there is that sense of incongruous timing - the reader knows the times we see are a brief snapshot of their whole allowing us to accept the flow. It's a rather fluffy story, and could almost have more contention while still giving the satisfying HEA, but overall it's a solid read. The story is interesting and a bit unique, the characters are interesting and have decent depth, the humor and drama are well balanced and nothing too over the top.

This is the third book in the Knotty Omegas series, and they just keep getting better with each book. I enjoyed Genesis’ character in the 2nd book, and her relationship with her brother. But this book really makes her shine, because Genesis is an amazing character and strong omega and her story is so well written in this book.

This book was complex and heart breaking at times, but necessarily to explain the background stories of these amazing characters. Pack Rossi were so well written and just overwhelmingly perfect for Genesis.

I adored this book and hope to see more amazing Omegaverse books in the Knotty Omegas series.

I enjoyed this book and the daddy vibes. I enjoyed the pack dynamic and the sass between the pack. Genesis is an independent Omega and journalist. Her heats are getting more difficult over time and needs a pack. After the alpha’s lose their omega his pack mates' are stubborn & fear to move on. But Orlando did what he could to keep them thriving and signed up to help omega in heat. Genesis is scent matched to Orlando, Luke, Gabe are Alpha’s that are going to help her through her heat. She thinks her heart is safe and thinks it would be a temporary match between them. 4/5 recommend it

I am not into the Cowboy vibes or the Cowboy Romance at all... BUT If AJ Shirley writes it, I am going to read it. And let me tell you, I am not disappointed!! This was just a taste of farm life, enough that this city girl (and the city girl Omega) could handle it.

I love the KNotty Omega series so much. I cannot get enough of it. This was such a sweet and touching Omegaverse story. The characters have a heartbreaking background without too much darkness. And Spice! Right out the gate!!

Just wonderful. I am hooked!

So much better

Than the last one in this series. I actually wanted all the MCs to get their happy ending in this book. I liked how supportive Genesis’s bestie & boss were- steering her towards being honest with herself and accepting that she was worthy of good things. I liked how Gen stood up to her fathers, although they deserved worse from her based on their treatment of her. As for Pack Rossi, I liked their relationships with each other and how each of them brought something different to Gen. They each allowed Gen to grow.

This is the third book with a new omega so can be read as standalone. Genesys is a indepent omega but her heats are getting more difficult over time. So she does what her boss suggests in hope of getting more freedom as a journalist and getting the difficult stories. She finds a pack with older alphas and thinks her heart is safe. Upon meeting them she isn't so sure but she is stubborn as are the alphas. I enjoyed reading this one.

✨ Check TW
✨ Love After Loss
✨ Omegaverse
✨ Reverse Harem MFMM
✨ Age Gap
✨ Fake Dating/Courting
✨ Sweet & Spicy (Shibari)

Unfortunately i didn't felt a connection between the FMC & MMC's. I don't mind a Love After Loss trope but when the late Omega Evie is mentioned the whole story...Also the pacing was a bit strange, important things happened off page and the ending was rushed.

Another fun one

Gotta love silver foxes and honestly loved watching this character in the background of the first two novels but to hear her story now and to have her reporting on rhe trauma book ones FMC went through was a nice little wrap up for her.

I loved how delulu she was going into it. Girl please 😂 also Avery is hilarious and I need more of her. Was a nice read for the day.

If I could rate this more, I would! Such a lighthearted Omegaverse with a strong independent FMC, an age gap with the MMC’s (hello silver foxes) - I love it! Genesis brings about independence in the most wonderful way and reminds us the positivity that can come with great journalism.
It was a sweet and funny read, and had great character development that didn’t feel rushed or frustratingly slow.
HEA with some wonderful spice, I will definitely be doing a reread in the future.

Just finished Arc reading this book and loved it! I normally read dark omegaverse books and this one was perfect for taking a break from the dark side. Genesis was a strong and sassy fmc who helped bring life back to The Rossi Pack. She definitely had me laughing! Knot Their First Rodeo definitely brought the spice!

Genesis, girlie, I understand. Not wanting men to be the center of your life, but when you biologically need them, that's kind of hard to ignore. Then Pack Rossi over there unintentionally letting one member hold them back til they meet Gen. Now everybody doing what they said they wouldn't do, who would've thought *wink wink*

I mean I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!
The characters 💋
The premise💋
The writing 💋💋💋
I had questions popping up and the author was just like lemme answer that for you 😄 love it!
The only reason this is 4⭐ read is because I wanted to spend several more chapters enjoying their HEA. I needed so much more.
What I will do now is read every other story in this universe! I'm so excited 😊

Felt short

I liked the story but it seemed to leapfrog through time and emotional connections. I enjoyed how driven and Independent she is. I would have liked to see more story around her struggle. I get that she is in the right time and right place to fall but, maybe I just wanted a longer story.

Another cute and cozy read from this author. Though normally age gaps aren’t my favorite, this one worked with how they all developed their relationship together and where they were at in life. 4/5 for spice in terms of number of scenes, dirty talk, and kink. I enjoyed reading it and how the FMC had snark!

A sweet easy read
Its the perfect length and pretty good writing style
Honestly i think I can’t review the book about character
/things that happen because it’s just over all in a separate genre
The genre when you wanna take a break relax and enjoy some knotting
But i will say i really appreciate the boundaries talk and saftey talks
I def will be comming back to the series

A. J. freaking Shirley, you owe me a full nights sleep. I meant to just start this book before going to bed and ended up reading the whole thing. Something about the characters just pulled me in and I couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end. Now I’m tired, but very happy that I got to know pack Rossi 🥰

Fun Read

I think one of my favorite microtropes is when the FMC is so against love or being married or in this case being in a pack and she finds a pack that changes her mind little by little and she fights it tooth and nail. This book definitely gives a you all the feels.

Great books/unique world

I found this series very refreshing. Humans are born as Alphas, Omegas or Betas. The Alphas in these stories are either terrible or wonderful. The Omega FMC are written as strong women. Yay for finally meeting strong FMC'S. Well worth the read!
