The residents of Ellis County and Waxahachie, Texas, continue their fight to survive in a mysterious, prehistoric world. Alone, and with no hope of going back, those in charge struggle to maintain order and feed the hungry citizens of Ellis County. To save their starving population, they must look beyond the seam and explore the vast, untouched wilderness. What they discover in the Pleistocene wilds will change their world forever - the only question is if it’s for better or worse.
I will be very disappointed and annoyed if there is no sequel.
Alien Space Bats? No. At least not yet. Do start with the first book. Mr Lenz is full of surprises. I didn't see this coming. I mean this is the nicest way possible. Some of the things happening to our poor castaways are predictable, of course soceity, civilization and good manners will break. But, surprise, not as badly as they usually do in this kind of story. And, instead of going on about this in the usual way, some of our protagonists *and* antagonists behave much better than one could hope for. We also learn that this probably isn't time travel. At least not ordinary time travel. The only little grouch I have is that I don't think Smilodon kittens grow up quite this quickly. Warmly recommended. I am now going to reread a 91 years old story. Sideways in Time...
Oh man! I loved book one of this series and was excited to see where the characters were taken next. Boy oh boy, was I not expecting that twist. Lenz made a bold choice that pays off extremely well. The pace and excitement this book builds are captivating. I couldn't put it down! To say I'm excited for book three is an understatement. If you're from a small southern town and a fan of science and science fiction, you're going to love this series. If you're not from a small southern town, you're still going to love it!
Wow, Beyond the Seam by Tyler Lenz is an absolute triumph! As the second installment in the Texas Accelerated series, this book takes everything I loved about The Seam and cranks it up to eleven. If you’re craving a wild, heart-pounding sci-fi adventure with a Texas twist, this is your next must-read!
Spoiler alerts: Another civilization. Almost like the Egyptians in many ways. I'm not sure what category this series falls into. Abilene, who was such an intregal figure in the first book, has mostly disappeared in this one. I will say I'm hooked, but now, who knows how long until the next one in this series comes out.
I live in Red Oak' just 9 miles from Waxahachie. The author really knows the area! So fun to think of this area as a dystopian sector! Love the characters and can't wait to see where it's going!
Such a fun read! I can't wait for the next one. The adventure keeps building but the characters are still well maintained and growing. There were some twists in this one I did not see coming. Read the first one and then this one you won't regret it.
This was even better than the first book, I think. Lot's going on, and I care about some of the characters, and dislike some others, which keeps it interesting! I wish there was a third book exploring more of the changes going on.
Engaging plot with interesting characters. I found myself reading into the early hours of the morning. Now that I am caught up I will be eagerly waiting for the next book in the series. Well done Mr. Lenz, well done!
Another really fun book in this series! The world gets expanded with new creatures and some additional (big!) surprises, as well as growing conflict inside the Seam. Excited for book 3!
