Ibo Landing: An Offering of Short Stories

Rate this book
Fiction. IBO LANDING is a celebratory testament to the South's unbroken cultural, linguistic and spiritual links to West Africa through Gullah ancestry and the heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In these 22 tales author Ihsan Bracy brings to life an arcana of colorful characters carefully illuminated through speech, manner and relationship. Together the stories become candidates for tomorrow's folklore - via the African American southern oral tradition.

I really enjoyed this little treasure chest of short stories. The author even maps out a genealogy for his stories! My personal favorites are red rice & shrimp, warrior seed, ring-o-levio, sister/sister and angels?. I just had to read them aloud to my daughter. These are stories of Ihsan Bracy's family from Africa to the Sea Islands to the migration north to the promises for the future. The stories may be about Mr. Bracy's family but you may see glimpses of your own family in the pages.
