I have starved for as long as I have been sentient. Collecting soul after soul, I fed. I gorged. Then he arrived, and suddenly, I understood what it truly meant to feel. Jealousy. Greed. Obsession. It tasted like him. Intoxicating. Addicting. I had to have my fill of him. Control him. Keep him. And I did. And we were happy. Trapped. But happy. Until she arrived. Her soul replete with mortal toil. And I knew. I knew. She is the one for him. My most magnanimous gift to him. She is to become his inamorata and give herself entirely to us. Now she is ours. Because no one escapes the Ambrose Hotel. And no one escapes me.
*Mania is a dark, paranormal romance and has a guaranteed HEA (albeit unconventional). It has mature situations and themes which may be considered triggers for some. Reader discretion is advised.*
Writer, occasional poet, and full-time witch, Naomi Loud is known for her angsty and heartfelt stories. Whether it be dark romance or contemporary, she loves to explore the complexities of the human condition and find the common thread that connects us all. Naomi lives in Montreal, Canada, with her husband and three cats, but secretly wishes she could live underwater.
Was that genius or did I just get psychologically pranked? Who was the pool guy?? Did I miss a memo or am I genuinely too smooth-brained for this? Someone smart please decode that ending before I spiral.
--- Buddy reading this (what I hope is; looks insane if I judge from the cover) crazy book with Andra darling 💌💓
This was such a shocking and wonderful surprise 😮💨
In just under 100 pages you get a love story that, in true Naomi style, spans lifetimes. And all in the setting of a haunted hotel?! That is some of the most unique shit I have ever read.
Also, as someone who is very fragile when it comes to horror, I loved this! So if you’re wanting something a lil spooky, but too gory or scary, I really think you’d like this.
P. S. The epilogue made me teary?! In a tiny lil novella?? COME ON. SO GOOD.
Huge thanks and all the forehead kisses to Naomi for the arc in exchange for my honest review!
4.5✨ When I picked up this book, I said you know I’m kinda in the mood for a mindfuck and I couldn’t have chose a more perfect book because what the actual fuck is going on ???
I FEEL SO GASLIT I LOVE IT 😭😂😅
This is a perfect eerie,Creepy, mysterious spooky season read that you can bang out in an hour. Don’t ask me how this little short book just knocked me on my ass and left me questioning everything.
BRB I JUST GOTTA STARE AT THE WALL FOR A MIN
If you wanna know anything about this book , you’re probably better off just reading it yourself because I really can’t tell you what’s happening here but I CAN tell you it was fantastic and with a side of fever dream and a dose of getting fucked up against the wall by a masked stranger…. So yeah…. Have fun
THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE A NOVELLA. Naomi never misses I swear. This book was phenomenallllll. It gripped me right from the start. The FMC wakes up buried alive… like WHAT?! She’s been on the road since her father passed and she ends up working night shift at this spooky hotel. She meets the mysterious owner, and things just start to unwind and get more insane as the story goes on. We have a sentient hotel, multiple fever dreams, waking nightmares, spicy time, a masked stranger. I guarantee you’ll ask yourself wtf is happening more than once lmao. I immediately wanted to reread it. My only complaint is that it would have made a dope ass full length novel haha. It was SO GOOD.
Was this a fever dream??? I have never experienced anything like this book and just in time for Halloween? Say less.
Maeve feels drawn to the Ambrose Hotel and in turn the owner of the Ambrose, Hazel. But the longer she stays within the walls of the hotel the more she starts to fear not only for her sanity but for her life. Meanwhile, the second that Hazel laid eyes on Maeve he knew that she was there for him and he could never let her go.
If you’re a lil freaky and a lil spooky this is 100% the book for you. This audio was 10/10 and I absolutely devoured this book. So different from anything that i’ve ever read and I had the time of my life.
Thank you so much to @bluenose + Naomi for this ALC for review! 🖤
This novella is only 2 hours and 15 mins, and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is my first Naomi Loud book and I want more! It packed in mystery and suspense with a splash of spice and romance in a short amount of time. This book does have a little something for everyone! As someone who doesn't automatically grab at paranormal romance, this one sunk it's claws in, much like a curtain hotel.
Mania centers around Hazel, never heard this as a name for a male but I love it and Maeve, and one haunted hotel! Maeve who is searching for work, ends up at the Ambrose Hotel. Soon after a lot of strange things start happening.
Mania is performed by Raven Wildewood and Scott Rose. Their performances were gripping, it had depth, and infection. You could feel the performances.
Raven performed Maeve and you can hear the character through Raven. You can hear the fear, the interest in Hazel, and how curious and terrified Maeve is throughout the book.
Scott performed Hazel also known as Mr. Ambrose who is the owner of the hotel. Hazel is drawn to Maeve the minute she arrived. You can hear the pull towards Maeve, the curiosity, the fear for her while being in this hotel.
This book has twists and turns and the ending while an HEA is unconventional.
Holy shit this was SO GOOD! I was hooked from the very first page! I mean, can you blame me? The main girl literally wakes up and realises she’s been buried alive! Or has she?
She’s at this creepy hotel with a hot and sus owner who’s making her scared but also borderline horny? That was practically me while reading this book.
She finds herself in various situations where so many creepy things are happening but omg I can’t say anything without spoiling so I won’t but please GO AND READ THIS NOVELLA RN!
Also, the smut! 🤌🏼 and I got sentimental too!
I swear this book has EVERYTHING! I said ‘OMG’ and ‘WTF’ way too many times for a 100 pages novella. I just wish it had 200 more pages ‘cause I wanna read more!!!!
Mania is a fitting title for this story, I felt manic reading it! After maybe two chapters I thought I'd figured out what was happening, turns out I hadn't 😂 I honestly didn't know what was happening from one chapter to the next, but in the best possible way. This was short and... sweet isn't the right word... but still such a great storyline for so few words. I don't want to give anything away so you'll have to take my word for it. At this point, I don't think their is anything Naomi could write that I wouldn't be absolutely obsessed with, she could rewrite the phone book and I would drop everything to read it.
We’re several days later and i don’t even remember reading this book (but i recall vividly what happened). It felt like i opened this book then had an hour long hallucinatory fever dream. Time to pack my bags and move into a haunted hotel, for this is now irrevocably a part of my psyche. Five stars.
I don’t know what the hell I just read but I loved every single second of it 🙂↕️🤌🏼
Naomi’s mind is an eerie and dark yet somehow hauntingly beautiful place. I’m truly shocked that she managed to have me so invested in these characters lives in such a short amount of pages. This is how all novellas should feel.
The story itself gives The Shining x AHS Hotel x Monster House vibes, but like, sexier 😈✨ It answered just enough of my questions to leave me satisfied with their ending, but still feel slightly unsettled by how we got there. Absolutely loved it.
Here’s to hoping we get more spooky ooky novellas in this same vein!!!
5 stars ⭐️ The perfect novella to get you in the mood for spooky season.
Mania is a dark paranormal story about a woman seeking solace and a mysterious hotel owner. This book is classic Naomi Loud with master storytelling, poetic writing and hot as hell characters.
A fast-paced, quick read filled with haunted vibes, ghosts, masked men and spice.
Review: When Naomi said she named this the fever dream series I wasn’t quite sure what that would mean, but I knew it once I started. I was entranced, confused, circling trying to figure out which direction this story was taking. As is the case with every book she writes, it was beautiful as well as heartbreaking. I was nervous when she said it was an “unconventional HEA” but I think it was a perfect ending. I won’t go into depth like I usually do because you need to go into this blind, but it is a short read and perfect for spooky season because you won’t know what is happening from one page to the next.
Okay, it’s definitely the season for stories that make you feel like your in a fever dream! This fast paced novella had me guessing and yelling WTHECK IS HAPPENING at least every few minutes!
It was adrenaline inducing, and edge of your seat mind trickery throughout the entire story. I’ve wanted to read something like this with the unique sentient building for a while, and love this take on that element.
It was spooky, mysterious, fast paced, but also took place in different timelines. Honestly I’m confused and I love it 😅
I think the voice actors were the perfection selection for this little thriller. Raven Wildewood and Scott Rose portrayed MC’s so well!
All right, everyone welcome back to another audiobook review! So this audio is a quick and a little over 100 pages the audios probably about two hours if you listen to it at one speed, I usually listen at 1.5 so it was a little bit quicker. I just wanna say that three out of the four books I’ve listened to that have Raven Wildewood as the narrator for the FMC, the male main characters name is Ambrose. But if you don’t know a little bit about this book, it is a paranormal romance, revolving around a haunted hotel, and our FMC‘s name is Maeve, and she is voiced by the amazing Raven Wildewood. Our MMC is Hazel Ambrose and he’s voiced by Scott Rose this is actually the second book I’ve listened to that has Scott and in both books, I’ve listened to him and he is absolutely done an amazing job so I really can’t wait to get to listen to him and even more stuff. I just wanna say that I did call what I thought was happening to Maeve throughout the story. I don’t want to give any spoilers to what happens to her, but I kind of felt that’s what was happening with everything and why Hazel couldn’t remember. But again, this is a quick kind of paranormal dark romance. It’s light it’s spooky it’s perfect for the Halloween season and I do highly recommend checking it out It is out on audiobook. growing up as a kid who watched Scooby Doo. I love a good paranormal romance in a haunted house because let’s be honest anytime Scooby and the gang when anywhere else was almost always a haunted hotel or something like that so I was supper excited to get to listen to this. Quick shout out to Blue Nose AUDIO Thank you guys so much for allowing me to get to listen to this early. shout out to Raven and Scott the amazing narration that you guys did. And lastly shout out to the amazing author and Naomi loud without her, we wouldn’t get to be here listening to this amazing book so thank you guys so much again.
Naomi’s brain must be the most wonderful place to be, and in this novella you get to experience some of it and it’s beautiful🖤 This book was described as the fever dream series and I couldn’t agree MORE, (p.s. Naomi can you write another immediately and release it?) I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with characters so fast in my life! This book was absolutely crazy and so perfect for spooky season! I think this might be the type of book I read every year like a tradition because it’s imprinted in my mind and it really really is that good! There is actually three main characters and one of them is a hotel, yeah it’s crazy (crazy good). Every single page SOMETHING happens and you’re reading it like “I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S ACTUALLY GOING ON, BUT I AM SO HERE FOR IT” yes that will be your exact reaction👏 Definitely recommending this book, to everybody.
Oh and it’s spicy 🌶️ hell yeah🖤
Thank you for letting me ARC review this it was perfect!
A deliciously dark and creepy novella perfect for spooky season! It’s tense, mysterious, and sexy. The hotel may be haunted. Something is lurking. A something with a very particular obsession…
Horror-adjacent is not usually my go-to, but I will read anything from Naomi. And this was a perfect mix of horror and dark and twisted. You could feel the unease in your bones as you read. Is Maeve unraveling? How did she get to the Ambrose Hotel? And what, exactly, is Hazel? And who is pulling the strings? You get answers, but are also left with a lot of questions. Which I loved.
I read this as an ARC as part of the authors Patreon.
Such a great and short read: Mr. Ambrose and Mauve. This was such an interesting book for it being so short. It starts with what is my worst nightmare scenerio that Maeve was in and it was a rollercoaster all the way through. I don’t want to give away too much but it’s definitely worth the listen and had me sucked in from the start. I really loved it and the unique story and the voice actors did a phenomenal performance, in complete duet narration. This audiobook is only a couple hours long (the book is only 100 pages) and it was done so so well. This is new my favorite Naomi Loud book, I definitely recommend it.
This book was so fun! And by fun I mean spooky and eerie. For a 100 page novella I was so invested in the story. A creepy motel where everyone the fmc runs into is strange, you know something’s going on but not exactly what.
I was still left with some questions that I would have appreciated answers to, but I can live with the mystery.
I loved the writing, it felt very beautiful even well describing some dark things!
If you enjoyed the vibes of American Horror Story particularly Hotel and murder house you’ll enjoy this!
The house is alive?? Haunted?? One man trapped for all eternity desperate for touch ... who has stolen this from him??
Lonely girl packs up to start anew ... but ends up in a one way ticket to forever with a dark figure or maybe her boss??!! 🤔
So I have mixed feelings about this novella. Fast paced, you can't stray or you will get lost ... but I enjoyed it ... my only irk was the nickname 😆 for it being a spooky themed book "dreamgirl" didn't suit for me
ALC REVIEW: 4 🌟 NARRATIONS: 5 🌟 (DUET)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Okay, let me set the scene because I don’t wanna ruin anything for this novella because it’s too good.
So, imagine AHS Hotel (BUT WAY BETTER) meets the way too talented and twisty, Naomi Loud.
& even that feels like I’m selling it short because the vibes are vibing, but I don’t want to give a single detail away, and that’s the only way I can think to GRAB you and MAKE YOU READ the dang thing.
A perfectly spooky novella! This is just shy of 100 pages, but was a wild ride from start to finish. I read it in one sitting because I never wanted to put it down. I recommend going in as blind as possible, but definitely read the TWs to be safe.
Highlights: - Romance: MF - Paranormal romance - Creepy af hotel - Waking nightmares - Masked stranger - Unconventional HEA
Note: I received an advance copy from the author. Decision to read/review was my own. Opinion is my own.
this novella is like if the song Hotel California came to life! also it felt way too much like my sleep paralysis that it gave me a little ptsd at times😵💫😂
perfect spooky time read for something short and creepy! it had just enough mystery to keep you on the edge of your seating wondering wtf was happening! and as always, BEAUTIFUL writing!!!!
