I’ve been in love with Jamie Walker for as long as I can remember.
He’s devastatingly handsome and impossible to resist.
He’s my highschool sweetheart,
My best friend,
and also the bull rider my dad doesn’t approve of.
With my eighteenth birthday and graduation around the corner,
I’m ready to give Jamie all of me.
Heart, body, and future.
But what happens if he isn’t ready to do the same?
Is the passion between us strong enough
to burn through everything that stands in our way
Or will I have to say goodbye,
And surrender myself to a broken heart?
**Breaking Oakley is a small-town, western, first love, steamy romance. It is the Prequel to Riding Jamie and is not recommended to be read as a standalone**
Piss poor plot, and an uppity bitch of a herione. Seriously?! The h Oakley expected the H Jaime to give up his dream of bull riding and making money. Has a Romeo and Juliet vibe of families hating one another which I hate. Oakley comes from a rich ranching family in Montana where Jaime comes from a background of bull riding. But let's be honest here. Bull riding isn't cheap so I'm not sure where the author was going with that. This a prequel mind you and I already HATE the herione. Such a bitch. How the author can possibly redeem her will be quite the feat. But let's be honest once again. The author is pining all blame on the H Jaime. So I'm sure we'll be seeing unnecessary groveling. Wrongly accused of cheating which he did not and the h didn't want to listen to reason. Strike one. Strike two her being so privileged thinking Jaime needs to follow or wait for her to return from college basically Jaime being left behind. wtaf?! No wonder he didn't want to say anything to the perfect rich princess. Horrible start to a series. Can you tell I seriously disliked this? Ugh 😫Strike 3? Calling him trash. Yikes! Was this even written by someone over the age of 18? I know this review is way harsh, but the complete immaturity and ridiculousness of the bitchy h has me thinking it wont turn around in the next book. All I was thinking the entire time reading this very short prequel was poor Jaime. I wish he could have a new h.
Jaime Walker turned 18, 7 months ago and now today Oakley Montgomery is turning 18 and they will give each other to one another. Their fathers don’t get along and Jaime’s father doesn’t want Jaime dating Oakley because she is going off to NYU for school and he wants Jaime to start the rodeo circuit. Jamie has dreams that include Oakley, but if it is up to his family and her they will separate them. Family and individuals try to drive a wedge in their relationship. This book ends abruptly because it was the prequel to ‘Riding Jamie.’ Seriously the amount of people in this relationship and the amount of opinions in a relationship can’t wait to see how Jamie and Oakley make it through this test in their relationship, because don’t get me wrong all this is leading up to the storm that is gonna test their connection, trust and love for one another.

A lot of Romeo and Juliet vibes here. Jamie and Oakley have both had their lives chosen for them. His as a bull rider, hers college and a life of privilege. But all they want is to be together. Their fathers have their own past issues with each other, and are adamant against their relationship, determined to keep them apart. And they may succeed, at least for a while. But this is only the beginning. This was at first hopeful, but so much stands in their way, including themselves. There are miscommunications and assumptions that drive a wedge between them, and it all just tears your heart out. Ends on a cliffhanger too, so to be continued...

Only young love can invoke so many emotions at once, everything is perfect one moment and the next can bring such heartbreak. This is a great start for this young couple. Can’t wait to read more in how to win the girl of his dreams and to learn what is really behind the Montgomery/ Walker argument.

This prequel was brief yet delightful. Jamie and Oakley are the central characters who yearn to be together, but their fathers' feud stands in their way. Oakley's family wishes for him to move to NYC, while Jamie is encouraged to focus on rodeo circuit projects. At just 18 years old, they are navigating the complexities of life. The tension between them creates a barrier, and the book concludes with a cliffhanger leading into the next installment, Riding Jamie. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and eagerly anticipate the next one!
