Ever wondered what haunts the minds of Millennials?
This collection of 12 twisted tales dives deep into the anxieties of a generation that grew up with the internet, got ghosted by the housing market, and fears their student loans more than actual ghosts.
From remote work woes to awkward social events and vacation rental nightmares, each story delivers a blend of bone-chilling fear and laugh-out-loud satire. Uncover the horrors lurking in your everyday life as these sharp, witty tales take familiar situations and twist them into something truly uncanny.
Paired with eerie black-and-white illustrations that bring these modern nightmares to life, this horror satire collection is perfect for those who enjoy a spine-tingling laugh. Grab your favorite overpriced coffee, curl up under that weighted blanket, and get ready to confront the hilarious horrors that only Millennials could truly understand.
I usually don’t ready horror, but the title got my attention. These are unique short stories that are indeed horrifying. Modern society has its quirks and existential angst is high. These seeming innocent millennial stories take a humorous but always horrific turn. It had me looking at routine things and thinking, “yeah, but what’s the catch?” Take this a little further and this is not a deal, but a too-good-to-be-true situation and it is too late to back out of it. This was an extremely entertaining read.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but it turned out to be a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern humor that totally drew me in. This book is clearly written by someone who understands both the eerie charm of traditional ghost tales and the unique quirks of millennials. I found myself laughing out loud one moment and then glancing over my shoulder the next. It’s the kind of book that brings back memories of late-night campfire stories but updates them with a fresh, witty twist. I definitely recommend reading this one!
This could become a cult classic. An ingenious blend of contemporary satire and delightfully morbid twists, there are elements of The Twilight Zone, Tales of the Unexpected and Shaun of the Dead here and the illustrations reminded me of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s all rooted in the everyday challenges facing people in late youth/early middle age - overpriced housing, dodgy apps, remote work - but with darkly imaginative twists that often shed a revealing parodic light on the subject.
A quick scary read. They stories are modern day nightmares with a humorous twist. Each chapter is a short story, and relatable to things people have anxiety about. I thought it was funny and well written.
This was a good selection of scary stories. I like that each story was short. I Imagine these would be great to read at a Halloween sleepover or campfire. I think a younger teen , would love this too. I enjoyed this book alot.
