Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened - an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers. Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters - and other Awakened - in a deadly battle of survival. What's worse, the divine power he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect...
I’m so happy. We have finally reached the romance we have been dying for since the first volumes. Sunny I’m proud of you. This volume was a lot more relaxed and chill compared to the others. Focused more on character interactions rather than just war. Really excited for what’s to come. I expect another thousand chapters of war 🫡
This was the most painful and at the same time hilarious volume I have read. I love how their relationship developed but it hurt so much that no one remembers him but has a recollection of him. Also, Cassie, I finally forgive you my girl. The length which you have gone through for Sunny is no joke anymore
Also, I absolutely loved every chapter with Rain in it
This volume was a complete switch-up from the previous, and I absolutely loved it. One of my favorite problems with the story so far was the lack of mundane moments and developments outside of pure action, but this volume delivered all of that and more. The interactions Sunny had with members of the cohort and others following the result of the third nightmare were intense and at times made me feel Sunny’s grief. Last but certainly not least, Sunny and Nephis… I had my legs kicking in the air like a middle-schooler on a voice call. (That last scene!!!)

Last but not least, setelah biasanya kita dapat pov sunny, skrg kita merasakan berbagai pov lain yang gak kalah asik dan menggelitik. Volume yang sangat amat relaxing setelah keseruan 3rd nightmare dan sebelum domain war.

Amazing, complete switch up from the previous volumes. I found it extremely enjoyable to see the characters interact in a more relaxed setting, with action taking a back seat. Volume 8 had me desperate to read the next chapters for the sake of the romance sub plot, something I never thought I would enjoy. Although I typically dislike narrative switching in books, it was masterfully done here. Of course there were a few slow spots, but the euphoric feelings the rest of the volume gave off, dwarfs any of the lows the volume had. Easy 4.8+
This Volume was AMAZING. I loved the slower change of pace and just seeing what sunny is up too now as a Saint. It is so much more relaxed and really just lets you see what is going on in the world at the moment. Also seeing how Sunny is using is transformation to live multiple different lives at the same time is awesome and lets you see so much more of the world.

4,25/5 ⭐ Slice of life Příjemná změna oproti vážnějším předchozím částem. Moc se toho nestane ale posouvají se vztahy, konečně po 1700 kapitolách... Zase části vyprávěný ze strany Rain a jeho vzpomínky jsou trochu zdlouhavé ale zbytek super.
We now enter the second half of Shadow Slave, and how dare people try and claim this is the worst volume. I, for one, was thoroughly entertained. I usually dislike multiple POVs but Sunny’s three incarnations, their purpose, the way they all interweave, the characters they each follow and interact with. It’s great. I only can wish for an interaction between the three of them 😭~250 chapters of precursor before the war and G3 is once again showing why he is amazing at buildup and suspense. Speaking of build up, good lord finally we get our couple. Read that last chapter on the coach and had to hold back my smile but internally I was as hot as a Sleeper going through Awakening.
Seeing how everything has passed and employing a 5 year time skip was exciting, but I do wish I saw more of the cohort. Then again, I probably would’ve complained if I didn’t get my Sunphis novel time. What didn’t disappoint in novel time was RAIN. RAIN AND SUNNY NOVEL TIME IS THE BEST. Sure it’s not as comical as the earlier volumes for obvious reasons, but Rains awakening was well deserved, timed and meaningful. G3 has built her up to be a character I actually can care about and thus can enjoy her story.
Also the Lord of Shadows is a top 10 contender for biggest aura farmers. That Ki Song and Asterion reveal was tantalising as well. The latter being on the fucking moon is interesting too, shit is Enel all over again bruh.
REGARDLESS, onto the Throne of War. I wonder how the 5th war arc, and the first war arc of part II of SS, will fare.

DNF on chapter 1726 *this review is under here for spoilers in the previous books, they are hidden if you haven't read them
the author ruined ruined Effie and the romance that the author keeps trying to force has no chemistry at all. i hope the author moves on from the romance and the random slice-of-life stuff or I might never finish reading this.
It also felt really wrong that because of the game, I feel like there were so many possibilities to try and make the book more diverse but it just felt like I was reading about a ton of blond people and the MC is the only one with black hair because he's special
Wouldn't it be better for Effie to learn to love herself and her body and learn to work with it to show that it isn't the end of the world.
I've seen a lot of people talk aboutand to me it wasn't that bad, I was surprised but I could live with it, but the way that even after this Effie keeps flirting with others just feels weird. I always imagined her as more teasing, like she was making fun of them but this felt like the author just wanted to show how attractive Sunny was and how no one could resist him.
Also, just for this review, I went and looked at a ton of fan art. Tell me why there isn't a single black character that is important enough for fan art. In some cases, the characters could pass as East Asain, but I find it weird that there isn't a single notable black character throughout so many chapters and as the group visits so many places and meets so many people.
If you really want to read it go ahead, but I just wanted to point out some things that really annoyed me throughout these books, but once I started noticing these things it felt like it ruined my whole reading experience.
I hope it does get better but I won't be continuing on, due to these issues and the major changes that were made to Effie even though she had so much potential for growth.
