Lothar tells himself that he is entering the Bride Trials merely as a way to test his strength and skill against other orc warriors. But when he realizes the female he is given a chance to court is in love with another, he finally admits how much he longs for a mate of his own.
He does the honorable thing and withdraws from the Trials, retreating to the wilderness to lick his wounds - only to find a strange female desperately in need of his help.
Haunted by a troubled past, Jana lives as a virtual recluse, hiding away from everyone. Her one refuge is her beloved garden - until she suddenly finds herself in a strange new world.
The massive orc who finds her has a charming smile and a quick wit, but there is a loneliness in his eyes which matches her own. Can they find refuge in each other, or will they both end up alone again?
Each book in the Five Kingdoms series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy romance is intended for mature readers.
I liked Lothar… that being said, if the author doesn’t stop edging me about Egon I’m gonna lose my mind. Can’t believe I have to wait until April 3 to read about him. I need him bad.
I took off a star because the language thing really confuses me, it’s a little too easy and I wish there was another slightly more believable route to them communicating, like bestowed from the gods or something. I can’t believe she learned their language in like a week.
This is a super orc fantasy romance! I liked it so much. It is suspenseful and exciting, with steam and "meant-to-be" romance. Intriguing characters and storyline..

Great series. You don’t have to read book 1 but it really helps as it is about the older brother. Funny that he learns English from his sister-in-law from Book 1. He needs it to communicate with Jana when she is ported to his world. This story highlights how the “hero” should approach and treat a woman who has been badly mistreated and harmed.
Lothar shows such tenderness and gentle behavior towards Jana. It crumbled her walls and made room for passion and real love. A great happily ever after.

The Five Kingdoms Series : Book 0.5 - The Orc's Hidden Bride - Book 1 - The Orc's Stolen Bride - Book 2 - The Orc's Promised Bride - Book 3 - The Orc's Bonded Bride - Book 4 - The Orc's Princess Bride - Book 5 - The Orc's Captive Bride -
𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: This series is such an enjoyable orc romance series. It really gives you those "historical" vibes that are often paired with many orcs in romance but with a unique fantasy element. It's all fairly equal and nothing feels too over-the-top.
Our heroines come from modern day Earth and are transported to this realm with orcs. And it's just a super fun journey each time! These definitely feel a bit more lengthy than most of the other Honey Phillips books I've read and I was very happy to see that! It feels like I'm getting that great romance atmosphere Honey writes but with more depth and story. They're really fun!
I loved Lothar and Kari together. Kari at the beginning grated on me but only slightly. It was quick and fleeting. Otherwise she's a really great heroine and paired great with Lothar, who is a great hero. Just a lovely couple and a full well-rounded story. I really enjoyed reading this and I'm super excited for book 3 as Egon has been my most anticipated read!
This was another fun addition to the Five Kingdoms series and I enjoyed getting to know Lothar better as well as getting to know Jana and see how their relationship developed during this story. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone but it was fun getting to see Wulf and Kari from the previous book briefly and I am looking forward to reading Egon's story in the next book The Orc's Bonded Bride.
This is such a wonderful series filled with fabulous world building and beautifully written characters that have tons of chemistry. Lothar is Wulf's brother from the first book. At the end he took off for the port city to enter the Bride trials. He said it was just to test his skills but deep down he truly wants a mate of his own. The Trials do not hold the answers he's looking for. So he sets off to to regroup before he goes home to his family. Little does he know his life is about to change. Jana has suffered greatly in her short life has escaped adversity ANF has begun to rebuild her life . The only problem she has is that she's built strong walls around herself and Let others in Is the only way she feels that she can protect her her heart. But herself loneliness is Consuming her and making her sad And then A raging storm happens And her life changes forever. When she wakes from the storm She has to learn to navigate this new world And when she meets Lothar Her life changes forever. Once she thought she would never be able to trust now Maybe she'll actually be able to love And be loved And be loved in return. As they both navigate their new relationship they uncover a plot to ruin the Alliance the Orc King has made to save his people. Can I help save the race Everything come to an end. I highly recommend you read and find out it's an excellent book and I can't wait for the 3rd In the series.💖🔥💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟
I haven’t read the previous book in this series, but I definitely will. Honey writes a world that is both familiar (Viking/Nordic vibes) but also new and fantastical. Lothar withdraws from the Bride Trials after realising the warrior he defeated is in love with one of the prospective brides. It might be the honourable thing to do but he is despondent that he might never be worthy of being given a mate from the gods. Therefore, when he rescues an almost naked and injured Jana from a dire wolf, he is surprised to feel the mate bond with her. Jana chose to live in an isolated farm having escaped from a cult until she is mysteriously pulled into a strange world. She is scared and traumatised but there is something about the big orc that rescues her that feels safe. I loved how patient and protective Lothar was of Jana and how their relationship was built on trust before more carnal relations happened between them. Egon’s book is next, but I hope we get to see how Jessamin and Ulric’s story ends.
Book 2! Perfect way to start the year. The humans who are pulled into this series represent HOPE for Norhaven. There are three brothers. This book focuses on Lothar. He is such an honorable male. He went to the bride trials just to prove himself and maybe to check things out. His perspective ends up changing and he decides to take some time to himself in the forest. The Goddess Freja has other plans. Jana finds herself in a strange land and Lothar is just the guy to come to her aid. Jana is an expert on herbal remedies and plants. Her skills end up coming in very handy. We also get to see a bit of King Ulric and Queen Jessamin's story. I love how Phillips weaved it in. I won't give anything away, but I loved how this book came together. Jana truly represented hope in a big way to all of Norhaven. Start your new year out with a healthy dose of good vibes, read this book! 4.5 stars, 3 spice emojis
The FMC Jana is ripped from her world without a clue of where she is or how she got there and why. Then comes her protector swinging in with sword and power, literally, the MMC Lothar, expect he’s unlike anything she has ever seen. Literally. He’s not even the same species. Toto definitely isn’t in Kansas anymore, or Earth.
As Jana tries to make sense of her new world and Lothar feels his mate bond snap into place both must work through challenges. He wants nothing more than to a have a mate to love and cherish, he sees how affected with her new world Jana is, can he be enough to make her feel safe, can she stop a bad past from preventing a happy future, even on an alien planet.
I love this series. It’s so easy to fall into, easy to fall in love with the main characters and I just really enjoy this these dramatic but not too intense bouts of new world love!
Another wonderful book filled with promises and adventure. Along with the perfect HEA for Jana and Lothar. Doing the right thing does have it's benefits. And Lothar did the right thing at the competitions. Even though it meant giving up the chance of having a mate. I loved how he and Jana met. The way he took care of her and her slowly learning to trust him and how he made her feel "safe". Something she hasn't had most of her life. We learn about that as well. He knows she is his mate from the bond they form , but is reluctant to think he is worthy of her trust. POV of each. Excellent twists . I loved how Jana's past , her knowledge of herbs and healing help in a dire situation of someone very important. An excellent book with heart and Orcs.

I always love reading stories by Honey Phillips. She is great at world-building & character development. I love that her characters are flawed, but we see their growth as they fall in love with their perfect match. This story is the same. Lothar is a warrior who feels like he isn’t worthy of a mate. Jana had a rough upbringing & emotional scars from what happened to her due to her mother’s poor choices. I loved reading how they learned about each other & Jana grew to trust Lothar enough to fall in love with him. I loved how Lothar protected her, listened to her fears & was gentle with her emotions & her heart. I was happy for the HEA & can’t wait to read about Lothar’s brother, Egon, in the next book.

So if cults might trigger you, this story might do that. You can tell from the start that Jana has a lot of triggering actions. You have to love how she's pulled into Lothar's world though. she even makes herself some vine and leaf clothes rather like an Eve. Funny how they all come through naked! Lothar who doesn't want to admit he really wants a mate, takes himself to the Bride Trials. He proves himself to be totally honorable though and backs out when he defeats a contender and realizes he is mated to one of the brides and this would knock him out of the competition. It all must be Freya ordained though as he is then guided to go where Jana lands. I love how patient he is and loving and humerous. Both are well done characters and I love how her specific herbal skills end up saving the Queen. Great book!
Jana and Lorthar. Jana, human, is a herbalist. She been hurt by those she loved and trusted. Caught in a cult before, she put walls up to keep anyone from getting close. Lothar, orc, wants a mate desperately, but he would never force a woman to be his. He wants a bond like his brother has. He wants love. When he stumbles across a near naked human woman that speaks English, he knows she's not of his world and he'll do what ever it takes to protect and care for her. He feels the fate bond, but denies the pull. Will Lorthar ever get the courage to tell Jana his feelings? Will Jana ever tell Lothar how she feels about him? I loved this story. Honey Phillips sure knows how to write an engaging book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I diffently recommend this book.
These Orc books are great. The God's have plans for the Orc Kingdom. They have been sending certain Orc brides just when they are needed. In this book two lonely souls find each other through space and time. Jana has a traumatic past and doesn't trust easily especially men. Lothar secretly longs for a mate but doesn't think he is worthy. Turns out they need each other. Jana's herbal skills prove to be necessary in a life or death situation. This is a very good story. Honey Phillips always writes great stories.

Sweet, steamy, cinnamon roll hero..... This was a great story that can be read as a stand alone. This was my first read of this series and it stood by itself, however I will probably go back to the start, as I think I would get more enjoyment and world building. Lothar and Jana have a ton of chemistry, and I loved seeing how they got to know each other. Each of them got just what they needed from the other. The world building was amazing! Good story that was a quick read, but it sure packed a punch in details and plot.

This is a fantastic book! Lothar wants a bride and the coveted mate bond that is so special. He is part of the Bride trials, but after witnessing a fellow competitor lose, Lothar withdraws so this fellow can go on to win his mate. Jana is alone on her small farm when a mysterious storm transports her to Lothar's world. I enjoyed this book so much. There is much more to this story than what I have written. The plot is quite intense, and the spice is excellent. Lothar and Jana are fantastic characters. You can't go wrong with this book!

LOVED THIS STORY! Honey nailed it again! The FMC, Jana, is an Earth girl who has been through immense trauma, and has difficulty being around other people. The MMC, Lothar, is an Orc from another world who believes he’s lost his only chance at a mate, in the Bride Trials, because he made an honorable decision. Jana is pulled from Earth to Lothar’s world that is wrought with political intrigue, tyranny, and decimation. I could not put this down. I’m already wishing for the next one! I’m going to go back and read the other in the series!.

Oh this is turning into an amazing series! I have read a lot of orc books but this series is just amazing! So romantic, so hot, such passion and devotion. And patience. Our hero understands and allows for healing and growth! I think human males should read this to learn from our hero the right way to approach and treat a woman who has been so mistreated and harmed. Such tenderness and gentle behaviour crumbled walls and made room for passion and real love! Just amazing!!!! So perfect as always.... Ms. Honey creates the perfect males for my dreams!!!!
Another excellent installment in The Five Kingdoms series! While this book features a separate story, it’s a continuation of the series, so skipping Book 1 might leave you missing some important world-building and political context.
This is an exciting fantasy set in a mysterious world, where our FMC finds herself transported. Both the FMC and MMC wrestle with personal demons, but their journey of growth is woven into a sweet and engaging story.
Book 3, The Orc’s Bonded Bride, follows the third brother and is set to release in April 2025.
Spice: 4/5 Plot: 4/5 Writing: 4/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Lothar and Jana. Honey always creates such amazing honorable and protective males that I completely fall in love with and Lothar is no exception. As soon as he saw that the Bride he'd wished for was in love with the warrior he defeated, he withdrew so that warrior could continue and have his chance. I could have swooned! Jana has suffered trauma from her past and though Lothar knows she is his mate, he'll have to be patient. I thought these two made a great match and I liked how their relationship developed. I'm really loving this series and can't wait for more. 5 stars.
Lothar is fighting in the bridal trails when he makes a choice to withdrawal. But that may have been fated from the beginning. The Gods have hands in these orcs and pulling human women from earth. So finding a human women in the woods is a sign but what kind. Lothar has doubts about why and if Jana is here for him. He didn’t wish like his brother but his mate bond clicks when he looks into Jana’s eyes. Jana has a dark past and it comes out many times. Thank the gods for Lothar and his patience. He is the perfect match for her.
An exciting romance! As much as Lothar aches for a bride of his own, he has an admirable moral ethic that prevents him from taking one who’s not interested in him. I like that. I am surprised when he meets Jana that he doesn’t recognize what she is to him. Jana’s past has left her with some crushing fears, but she’s changed her life around. I do so love their story! On their journey, Jana develops more confidence. It’s so rewarding! Yes, there’s trouble along the way. I think you’ll enjoy every step of this delightful pathway to love.
The world of The Five Kingdoms - that promises the possibility of more stories. With the gods seeming to answer an Orc Warrior's prayer, Jana is brought to Lothar's world. Now he has to believe Jana if for him and that he is worthy. And Jana has to work through her fears because of past trauma. So much happens in this tale, good and bad. But what an amazing story full of plot twists, danger, secrets, exploration and overcoming so much trauma to come to a wonderful HEA. Plus the little hints for more stories.
All the green intensity of nitty gritty of Orc’s in this book! Officially enjoying the Orc era and this series. Lothar is an honorable Orc, once he sees the female he is to court if he wins the competition is interested in another he withdrawals. He realizes how much he longs for a mate of his own. Jana is alone and finds herself in a strange new world. She is scared and has so much hurt that keeps her guarded. Both character’s bring light and comfort to each other.

After defeating an opponent in the bride games and seeing one was already bonded to him the victor pulled out to give the male a second chance at being her chosen. Taking off into a forest on a whim he builds a camp then hears a female screaming. Running to save her he finds her naked hurt and under attack by a wild animal, and feels drawn to her. Finding a lone female in the Orc homeland is unheard of due to the shortage of them. Now he needs to help her heal, find out if they will be mates, and how she got here. Good Adult Read.
A sweet, steamy romance with a perfect mix of fantasy and heart. Jana, shy and reclusive, finds unexpected safety and love with Lothar, a kind yet lonely orc. Their chemistry is captivating, and the “meant-to-be” romance shines. A delightful blend of suspense, warmth, and magical world-building.

Lothar entered the bride trials secretly hoping to find a mate but instead he found one in the forest. Jana had a terrible upbringing and was abused so she ran away and was living far from people but she ended up naked in the forest that was not on Earth facing a wolf and and orc. What a great story. Lothar had so much patience with his fated mate Jana and she learned to trust him because if it.
