Shifter Grove Rogue Wolves #5

That's the Way Rejection Goes

Rate this book
I've helped other rogue werewolves find a new home for years, saving those who had been cast aside like me. I always wondered when it would be my turn to find happiness.

Then I got TWICE as much as I bargained for when two Alphas walked into my hotel.

Sam

I was happy to see everyone around me find their fated mates. My books were enough romance to keep me distracted.

Until they walked in.

Two Alpha wolves came into the hotel together, recently ousted by their own pack. I can tell they’re a mated pair, so why do they keep staring at me like that?

My pulse quickens every time they’re near and for some reason, both of them like to get close to me, whispering sweet nothings in my ear from either side.

I always imagined finding that person just for me. But two of them? And Alphas to boot? How does that even begin to work?

Not only that, but their affections are getting in the way of my work. They’re scaring away customers and friends alike, trying to keep me to themselves. As much as I’d love to fall into bed with them and forget my responsibilities, I’m the backbone of this town.

My wolves… my family comes first. I just don’t know if these Alphas can learn to accept that or if they need to find somewhere else to stay.

MMM, throuple, why choose, fated mates, forbidden love, gay werewolves, paranormal romance, contemporary, beach romance, protective/possessive, found family, HEA

I was so excited to get to Sam's story because I was ecstatic that he got his HEA, but this type of book isn't for me. That's not to say it's not good at all, but I've never been much for the throuple trope, as it does absolutely nothing for me. I loved Sam's stumbling through accepting his mates but that's about it. Sad the series didn't end on a better note for me.

Concluding the Shifter Grove series with Sam's story is perfect. Sam is a force of nature who survived and built Shifter Grove to help other rogue wolves, abandoned by their packs.

Having discovered Sam bit by bit in each of the previous books, I was eagerly awaiting his story. Like every wolf who's ever been there, Sam too is marked by his past, and although he's the force of Shifter Grove and seems to have put his past behind him, he's not, and he too has his traumas to face, before he can really enjoy his own happiness.

I love the dynamic between Sam, Callum and Erick. They're all very different, and even though Callum and Erick are alphas, they're far from stereotypical, and Sam being older, more mature is still more dominant. As always, Blake writes his characters and their relationship with accuracy, in this case a threesome that forms as they navigate each other's pasts and uncertainties.

An amazing story and a nice conclusion to the series.

——-

I really hope that this isn’t the last book of the series. I am fully obsessed with the series. I love the idea of a rogue town/hotel. There’s been a lot of werewolf books that I have read that never had anything about rogues or somebody being banished, so this was a nice change.

I also really enjoyed when they shifted. I think a lot of people nowadays who write werewolf books, don’t even mention them shifting. I know it’s probably a hard topic to write about, but I really enjoyed it in this series.

The only thing that was kind of predictable in every book was that in the beginning, it was a struggle to come together. And then in the middle they get together. And then of course, something dramatic happens before the end. I really don’t enjoy a third act break up type books. But this series wasn’t so bad. It seemed like they were able to resolve their issue pretty quickly.

I really enjoyed the little extra book that we get that talks about the human David and him finding his mate. I honestly wish we had a full book of that because I think it would be so interesting to see him get more deep in the werewolf life.

Overall, this was a great series. Now, do I wish there was some knotting…hell yes. That’s about the only thing missing from this werewolf series. I can’t wait to read some of his other series.

PS. I use talk to text to write this review so if it’s a little weird, that’s why.

Shifter Grove has emerged as a heartwarming sanctuary for rogue wolves, largely thanks to the dedication of the hotel owner, Sam. Over the past decade, he has transformed the grove into a beacon of hope, providing hospitality that has saved countless wolves from despair. Readers are invited to delve into Sam’s world through an engaging series of books that spotlight the struggles and triumphs of various characters.

The latest installment, “That’s the Way Rejection Goes,” shines a much-deserved light on Sam’s character. While many characters in the series have successfully battled their emotional upheavals, Sam has often found himself sidelined. This book allows him to confront his past and move toward healing. However, rather than getting lost in melodrama, the narrative takes a more playful approach, offering readers a delightful mix of romance and intimacy between Sam and his two lovers.

This book stands out not only for its focus on Sam but also for its lighter tone. Seeing a narrative combining character depth with a less dramatic plotline is refreshing. With great writing and compelling characters, this edition leans into the romance side of storytelling. While many characters from previous books see little representation here, the pleasure derived from Sam’s escapades makes it a noteworthy read.

Sam is a generous, caring man, his past is full of betrayal and heartbreak, struggling to survive, and getting a little lost along the way. He spent the last ten years working hard to create a safe haven to help other rogue werewolves. He's also became a bit of a matchmaker, watching those around him find love and happiness, but wondering if he'll ever find it for himself.
Erick and Callum are from rival packs, but they didn't know that when they met, fell in love, and mated. For five years they kept their secret, but when it is discovered, they are each ousted from their packs. With nowhere to go, they head to Shifter Grove and the Hotel that is reputed to help others like them. What neither of them expect is to find themselves instantly attracted to Sam.
All three men are thrown by an attraction that is more than surface level. There is some confusion, mishaps, and miscommunication before there is a turn in their interactions. Their chemistry is combustible, passion leads to many encounters. As feelings and connections deepen, love blossoms, and they finally accept that it is possible for three to be true mates and have a wonderful HEA.

Starting with Because You Rejected Me, Sam has played a big part in this series. Owner of the hotel that gives sanctuary to werewolves that have been kicked out of their packs. He is a lover of romance novels and had a knack for meddling in others' relationships. So it was only right he got his HEA.
In stepped Erick and Callum, mated Alphas, who had their own story for why they ended up at Sam's hotel. Whilst they knew they would be made welcome, what they didn't expect is instant attraction to Sam.
I really enjoyed this book and it answered all the questions about Sam. Watching him fight his attraction to Erick and Callum, at first not understanding why it was happening and then slowly coming to terms with what it all meant and watching how it worked out for him. Like the others in the series there is a bump in the road to true love and I liked how Sam handled it. The chemistry between Erick and Callum was on fire adding Sam to the mix intensified it 100%
This was a great way to end this series and whilst I am sorry it has ended I am so glad Sam got his HEA

It's only fitting that the last Shifter Grove story is Sam's. And yes, yes he does deserve two Alphas. He built Shifter Grove and guided the other residents to their HEAs. Of course when Calum and Erick show up, his New Year's hangover interferes with his usual sharp senses. He knows they're gorgeous, but his brain doesn't scream mates. There's the usual push and pull dance. When they give into the passion, oh mama is it hot.
Great worldbuilding. The mains from the other books were both supportive and pushy. Maybe more catching up would have been nice, but that's not so bad.
This was a fun quick read. While I'll miss Shifter Grove, I can't wait to see what's up next.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

It is the fifth and final book in the series. It tells the story of Sam, the owner of the hotel, which serves as a refuge for those who have been expelled from their herds.

Sam likes to read romance novels and fix other people's love lives without having one.

Here appear Erik and Callum, two paired alphas who, because they are together, are expelled from their packs. From the first moment they are attracted to Sam. I like that they talk about everything between them.
We also get to know Sam's story. I think it is the right ending for the series.

Finally. Sam meets unexpectedly his two fated alpha mates, Callum and Erick. I loved Sam since book one, and this story, his story, is my favorite.
It is beautifully written. Sam has to face his past to have a future, full of love, spice, and the best caring mates you could wish for. I loved Callum and Erick. Both are in a fated mated relationship since years. So both were confused when meeting Sam and feeling the pull towards him. Aw, I just loved everything about this book! Just read it, folks! I couldn't put it down.

Oh Sam. My poor heart! I’ve been waiting and waiting for his HEA story and I’m so happy he finally got it in duplicate! I barely noticed all the grammatical errors in the book - although I knew they were there - because I was so deeply invested in the story. I’m a little sad to have come to the end of the series, but I’ve enjoyed the books. Blake Wolfe’s stories remind me a little of Casey Morales’. Which is high praise from me since I adore all of Casey’s books.

Sam finally gets his mates. These poor guys were so confused and not sure what was happening when his two alphs meet him.
Calum and Erik both alphas and mates find hteur way to Shifter Grove and Sam's hotel. They are all pulled toward each other. It takes them a little while to figure out that yes, all three of them are meant to be mates.

Wondrously pleasing

This series is tenderly and tightly written. Each novel is different. I couldn't get enough. The characters are warmly and well scripted. Wolves are given a second chance. Very well written.

Blake seems to be just knocking 'em out of the stadium! A really great book, and I'm glad to see Sam getting his HEA. Sure would like to see a continuance of this series with David and Bran....

Wow is all I can say, Blake never disappoints with his books and the Shifter Grove series is one of my favourites.

Sam has created a community for shifters, it's a safe place where vulnerable wolves who need support getting back on their feet can go to thrive again and if they're lucky Sam will help them find their mate.
Finally after seeing Sam match so many of his friends with their mates this story is about Sam finding who he is supposed to love and be loved by and it's not surprising to me that he gets 2 men because he truly deserves the extra love and he has the capacity to love them both back.

With a bit of drama, a twist that some may see coming but so many special moments, this book is such a great read and anyone invested in the Shifter Grove series will not be disappointed.
