Wow! Just wow! V.T. Bonds has outdone herself with "Corrupt Vows," the first book in her new "Vicious Mafia Kings" series. The preface immediately piqued my interest; I was hooked by the end of the first paragraph. If you have any trigger warnings, be aware that this storyline checks a lot of boxes in a dark romance.
Nico Russo has been contracted to marry Camille Vivaldi, as both are the eldest of powerful mafia families. However, before the announcement can be made, circumstances change, and Nico is offered Serenity, Camille's younger sister, as an alternative. This arrangement suits Nico perfectly, as he has secretly craved Serenity for some time, but being the heir to the Russo family, he honors his family commitments before himself.
The plot turns dark as past issues continue to haunt Nicco all the while new drama unfolds. The growth of both Nico and Serenity is captivating. Nico, the most feared kingpin in New York, allows his heart to become involved, while Serenity finds the security she has always needed and grows into a woman who learns to command her strength.
I am eagerly anticipating answers within the next books of the series regarding which family is vying for the Russo territory, as well as both Camille's and Natalie's stories. I can't say it enough, this is a five-star read!

Corrupt Vows was a good start to the Vicious Mafia Kings series.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters,and the world they live in.
The reason Serenity is chosen instead of her older sister Camilla to marry Nico was hard to witness.
Their parents are the worst,and don’t give a damn about them…..they simply use them to gain power.
The abuse they suffered was over the moment Nico witnessed it,though…..
He may be a ruthless mob boss,he doesn’t allow women,especially the ones he cares about,to go through something like that.
And he’s véry protective….has had practice ever since losing his mother,and nearly his sister,in a car accident.
Nico may have agreed to marry Camilla,but he doesn’t object to marry Serenity after Camilla’s assaulted and badly injured…..
And he doesn’t wait until the marriage to get her out of her parents house.
When Serenity returns home to get her belongings,she finds Camilla in a bad state having attempted suicide,and she makes sure Camilla gets the help she needs.
In the meantime,feelings grow,and Serenity starts to adapt to the new situation.
She adores Nico’s little sister Natalie,and Nico’s glad they get along so well.
There is however one problem…..there’s an unknown enemy targetting his family.
And his worries that he can’t keep Serenity and Natalie safe come true when Serenity is taken….
Serenity may have started out as a meek little girl,cowering to her parents abuse,but she grew.
Nico showed her she could stand up for herself without repercussions.
And he may have called her his Principessa,she grew into the queen she was meant to be.
She demanded he share his burdens with her,she kept her head when she was taken.
Nico may have tried to shelter her from his worries,from his nightmares,and that was sweet of him.
He showed a soft side,even when he got dirty with her.
But when she clearly enjoyed what he did,all bets were off…..she was made for him,and he wasn’t ever going to let her go!
As i said,a good start to the series,and even though it left me with a couple of questions,i still enjoyed Corrupt Vows.
Looking forward to hearing Natalie and Camilla’s story.

I loved this. I loved the smut. I loved the action. I loved the characters.

❤️🔥Are loc un accident în care este implicată Camilla, iar capul familiei Vivaldi hotărăște ca Serenity să ia locul Camillei. Serenity încearcă să se opună ordinelor, dar știe ca nu poate face prea multe, și poate o dată logodită cu Nico, viața ei va deveni mai bună și își va putea proteja sora de furia părinților ei.
❤️🔥Lui Nico nu îi este indiferentă Serenity, de fapt nu i-a fost niciodată și mereu a simțit o conexiune cu ea, chiar dacă ea mereu s-a ținut departe de el, mai ales ca era logodnicul surorii ei și era un bărbat interzis. Cartea de față nu face excepție, deoarece mi-a plăcut de prima și până la ultima pagină, iar schimbarea logodnicei nu m-a deranjat deloc. Serenity este o luptătoare și o femeie care nu se lasă pradă trecutului și traumelor prin care a trecut, o femeie care va face orice pentru a-l proteja pe cel pe care îl iubește și pentru ca acesta să îi dea locul pe care îl merită, și anume de regină a regatului lui. Nico, deși pare dur și neînduplecat, cunoscându-l, ajungi să îi înțelegi duritatea, dar în preajma lui Serenity devine alt om, un om mai blând, un om care știe să asculte, un om care își susține viitoare soție în orice (mi-a plăcut cum a susținut-o pe Serenity în fața părinților ei și cum a făcut ceea ce trebuie pentru Camilla), un om care este alături de Serenity în tot ceea ce face. A fast paced spicy read that has all the mafia trope clichés you can wish for (if you love a dark mafia romance). This was a perfect read to scratch my mafia romance itch, after coming out of a darker read and needing a palate cleanser. While the plot was thin, it still had enough to keep things interesting and to make you like (and hate some of) the characters. I'm definitely interested in reading the other books in this series.

Corrupt Vows really had the potential to be a good Mafia book but unfortunately it was just meh in my opinion. The plot is not really anything new, Cora Reilly has a book similar to this and I saw other reviews mentioning another book that this one seems to be a copy of but I continued on because mafia is one of my favorite genres. I really liked Nico and how dedicated he was to Serenity but I wanted more background of their childhoods and why he was so obsessed with her. The blurb says he’s her childhood crush as well but we don’t get any of that mentioned in the story. Nico was originally supposed to marry Serenity’s sister Camilla, but we get the barest details of what happened to her that made her not be an option anymore. We get just enough to draw our own conclusions but it felt like a big part of the story was missing. I had to double check that Camilla’s book wasn’t the first in the series as I felt like we were just thrown into the middle of an already developed plot line. The villain storyline wasn’t developed enough either and it didn’t have a conclusion as he just disappears. The ending felt a bit rushed and the epilogue was okay but not really fulfilling. It wasn’t a bad story by any means, it just needed to be more fully fleshed out.

I really enjoyed Corrupt Vows, it was well written, with strong characters and storyline, dark, spicy, with twists, drama and secrets. Nico is a dangerous, grumpy alpha-hole mafia Don who has a slice of good fortune when his arranged marriage is changed from the older sister to Serenity, the younger sister, who he has had a thing for (though you wouldn't know that from the way he had treated her to date).
Serenity is a gentle, well raised mafia woman, she thought as the younger daughter, she knew how her life would turn out, with a likely arranged marriage to a safer, more lowly ranked mafia man that she had a friendship with, however suddenly she finds herself engaged to the ruthless Nico and needing to deal with his Alpha, protective, overpowering, behavior.
Looking forward to more in this series.

Plot
This story follows Serenity, the younger sister in the Vivaldi family who has the misfortune of becoming engaged to Nico Russo, local mafia boss, after something happens to her older sister.
The plot carries along at a pretty brisk pace, with the nuptials rushed along and the pair moving onto the *ahem* honeymoon phase of things.
There isn't a huge amount of character development here, but did we need it? Not really.

Serenity is fine as an FMC, albeit a bit limp at times.
MMC
I actually really liked Nico - I know he's a big bad mafia guy, but he genuinely cares for Serenity and I especially liked how he dealt with her parents towards the end.
The Rest
Meh.
The Chemistry
Their chemistry is okay, although I always feel the story suffers a little when the FMC is so inexperienced.
The Good
I always love a 'touch her and die' element in these kind of stories, and this did it well.
The Bad
Serenity is main downside of this story for me - I didn't care about her college life and she came across as a bit of a an idiot.
We also never found out what happened to her sister. Not even a hint.

I absolutely loved this story. Characters Serenity and Nico were omg amazing. Read this book in one day. Storyline was everything. Now I’m not a mafia romance book type of person but this one peeked my interest. So happy I read it. I absolutely loved it. I cannot wait for book 2. Plus I can’t wait to read more about Camilla hopefully in a future book. Definitely recommend.

This was a yummy mafia story. The spice was so good! I love watching tough ass men get all gooey for their love interest. I def still have some questions though. Primarily regarding the details of what happened to her sister. I’m definitely headed to the next one to find out.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This book is everything readers will want in a new mafia series. Nico Russo will have readers panting for more. That man is sexy. I would love to hear the audio of this book. I can understand why Serenity Vivaldi had a crush on him. Nico was promised a the oldest Vivaldi daughter, Camilla. Camilla was in an accident and Serenity was forced to take her place. What the family did not know is that this change was not a hardship for either of them. Nico always wanted Serenity while she was feeling bad about wanting her sister's man. Everything worked out in the end.

The story pulled me in, I was definitely intrigued from page one but I feel it could have been better with just a few changes. I loved the characters, the MC was hot. The FMC was just the right amount of needy but had a spine when necessary. Their chemistry was fierce, but it’s advertised as an enemy to lovers and they weren’t really enemies. The FMC thought the MC hated her, but he didn’t, it was a misunderstanding. Once she realized he didn’t hate her, they were fine with each other. I was really looking forward to the banter an enemies to lovers story brings.
The characters themselves were well written, I would have liked to have seen them more on their own before they were forced together. That way I could have formed some kind of connection to them. I also felt like some of the conversations were forced, like they were saying it but like it was a script. It wasn’t every conversation only some of them. I feel that could have been fixed if I had known the characters more.
I think my biggest complaint is that the spicy scenes felt like an afterthought, they were there, they were hot, but I just wanted more, but who doesn’t want more spice. I did read the whole book and I would recommend it, but I’m undecided if I’ll read more by this author. If another one of her books catches my eye, I’ll probably give her one more chance.

Let’s describe Nico, he is a vicious mafia kingpin who has no mercy for those who threatened his family. However, can also make you swoon at any time.
Then there is Serenity, who has not had a good childhood, but still has a kind hart and is learning to stand on her own two feet. When circumstances bring them together, they start to find out that they both may be the cure to make each other whole again.
In conclusion, the storyline was great and definitely hot chemistry. Also, HEA guaranteed.

My first time reading the work of V.T Bond and I'm very thankful I got the opportunity too. The first of a mafia romance series, I found the writing to flow well and it was easy to get swept up in the passion and relationship between Serenity and Nico. I ended up unable to put it down and finished it in a couple of hours.
The joining of both families in marriage is interrupted due to a car accident, unable to marry the eldest daughter Camilla, Nico eagerly embraces the chance to marry her younger sister who he was always drawn too. Serenity is not so sure.
Camilla's situation is handled well, with things delicatley hinted at rather than made into huge revelations which felt more realistic. In fact the care and tenderness with which Serenity ends up treating her is very endearing. I hope to read more about Camilla in the future. Other than that much of Serenity's family and their dark history is kept in the background. Nico s vibrant family are given the most focus and it's hard not to be charmed by these secondary characters.
The plot does include violence and a lot of action and it was satisfying to see how strong Serenity grew under Nico s influence. While some plot points are not a suprise they are written well and there is a HEA, a lot of mystery still remains to be resolved in future books.
The chemistry between the main characters is incredibly strong and it has some great steamy scenes. The possessiveness Nico shows, could have been slight irritating at times, but the commentary from his sister Natalie balances out those scenes nicely, plus the ways in which he supports Serenity and allows her to be independent.
There are some clear trigger warnings around assault, violence etc given that should be taken into account by those wanting to read this series. Otherwise I cannot recommend enough.

Checklist Tropes with Zero Soul
I am actually dizzy. I feel like I just ran a marathon through a blender. I’ve read some questionable pacing in my time, but Corrupt Vows takes the prize for the most unrealistic, "blink-and-you’ll-miss-the-entire-plot" timeline I’ve ever suffered through.
Can we talk about this "arranged marriage" for a second? Because calling it a marriage is a reach; it’s more like a highly accelerated fever dream.
The Whiplash Timeline from Hell:
• Week 1: She finds out she’s getting married. She’s rightfully annoyed.
• Week 2: She’s still pissed. Okay, I’m with her. Stay strong, girl.
• Week 3: BOOM. Total personality transplant. Suddenly, she’s clinging to him like a stage-five clinger and screaming "I love you" into the void. Since when? Based on what? They’ve known each other as adults for twenty minutes!
• Week 4: She’s already pregnant, kidnapped, and acting like she can’t function without his hand on her neck.
I’m sorry, but insta-love and insta-lust are the absolute death of a dark romance. There is zero tension when the FMC folds like a cheap lawn chair in seven days flat. One minute she’s supposed to be this defiant woman, and the next she’s a helpless, clingy mess who seems to have forgotten she has a backbone.
The plot didn’t develop; it just happened at 100mph while logic stayed at the starting line. If you like your "romance" with a side of logic and actual character growth, skip this. This wasn't a book; it was a checklist of tropes being checked off by someone with a flight to catch.

Captivating read, totally immersed in the characters and the plot I thoroughly recommend
This is a book that I guarantee that you will find yourself having to read in one sitting as it is simply wonderful and you will be totally immersed within the pages.
A proposed marriage between two of the largest Mafia families is thrown into turmoil after the proposed bide is injured in a suspicious accident. Then Nico is contacted by the family and is asked if he would consider the marriage to their younger daughter Serenity, he cannot believe his good fortune as he has wanted her for years and when the engagement is announced he begins to understand his bride’s actions more.
The interaction between Serenity and Nico is electric and she responds to his demands beautifully but he knows that she is in danger now that the betrothal has been made public, then when she returns to her family home and he sees her mother trying to cause her physical harm he knows that her scars are far deeper than he realised.
I guarantee that you will love this read it is beautifully written and the elements of danger, threats, loss and love will keep you wrapped up in its pages.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

This is a book that I guarantee that you will find yourself having to read in one sitting as it is simply wonderful and you will be totally immersed within the pages.
A proposed marriage between two of the largest Mafia families is thrown into turmoil after the proposed bide is injured in a suspicious accident. Then Nico is contacted by the family and is asked if he would consider the marriage to their younger daughter Serenity, he cannot believe his good fortune as he has wanted her for years and when the engagement is announced he begins to understand his bride’s actions more.
The interaction between Serenity and Nico is electric and she responds to his demands beautifully but he knows that she is in danger now that the betrothal has been made public, then when she returns to her family home and he sees her mother trying to cause her physical harm he knows that her scars are far deeper than he realised.
I guarantee that you will love this read it is beautifully written and the elements of danger, threats, loss and love will keep you wrapped up in its pages.

That dedication alone begs you to read this dark mafia romance! Better check your trigger warnings, if you have any. This book has it all, mafia, suspense, age-gap, touch her and 💀, and the spicy dark romance I crave! The development of characters and the world in which this takes place, has rich detail that lets you feel as if you’re in it.
Nico Russo, as heir to his father’s empire, had been arranged to marry Camilla. She’s pretty, has a model body, but she’s not what Nico wants. What he truly wants is Serenity, who just so happens to be Camilla’s younger sister. But after an accident, he has just been promised Serenity’s hand in marriage. Serenity, being the younger sister, had been content in the knowledge she would be able to choose who she married. She’s grown up with Natalie as her closest friend. Natalie’s brother, Nico, was not very kind to Serenity growing up. And now, she is betrothed to him, not realizing he was keeping his distance because he wanted her all this time.
The romantic tension between these two is fire! Hoping we get to see more stories from some of the other characters in this book. Would love to see Natalie more in depth. Great read for us dark romance lovers, highly recommend!.

He was arranged to marry her sister, but when her sister is assaulted Her parents offer her hand instead. She accepts the substitution, as she is the one he has wanted all along. In his arm, she finds everything she has been looking for the love the support and the care that she never got from her own family. She is his amore, his everything. In addition to the romance arc, there is mafia family, drama, and rivals. This is really well written, the character development is great. You feel strongly invested in their relationship and understand their family dynamics. They both carry ghosts, but together they can overcome them. This is a little different than a traditional arranged marriage arc, as they both embrace it and navigate their feelings without trying to cover up or deny to save face. He immediately becomes her protector and possessive of her. He is everything you want him to be, darkly scary to the mafia world, but will burn everything to the ground for her. She is a mafia princess who comes into her own as a queen. A good we’ll rounded story that leads to the happily ever after you want to see.

Corrupt Vows is a classic mafia romance. He’s a don; she’s a princess; it’s an arranged marriage. Except—how does it feel to be a last-minute substitute bride?
Sabrina is swapped for her sister when the latter is injured in a car accident (while not stated directly, the implication is that her sister can no longer have children, which seems to be a condition of this marriage). Lucky for her that Nico has had a guilty eye on her for a while.
Bonds writes Corrupt Vows with assurance; this kind of morally grey hero is in her wheelhouse and the sensual scenes are right up her alley. I have to admit to being a bit creeped out that he was absolutely going to marry Sabrina’s sister when he had the hots for her. Luckily, the switch happens early enough in the story so that feeling didn’t have to linger for too long.
Sabrina both is and isn’t a mafia princess. She’s an art student, and attending at a public college brings an unexpected risk to her. This is one of those cases where the hero has established all sorts of protections around Sabrina but still several incidents happen. You have to wonder about those levels of mafia protection.
But this is a fine read for fans of mafia romance. They’ll find lots to enjoy in Corrupt Vows.

Wow, just wow. After reading nearly everything V.T. has written over the years, I feel like she has found her special genre: Mafia Romance. I mean, I have loved everything V.T. has written before this. She’s a great writer! But Corrupt Vows is now my absolute favorite of all. I feel as though she was destined to write Mafia fiction! For me, an aficionado of this genre, Corrupt Vows was written flawlessly with just the right amount of mafia “business,” and the perfect amount of s*xy spice. The violence and chaos of the mafia world wasn’t shied away from, and neither were the hot bedroom scenes! These two main characters, Nico and Serenity, were perfection together. Nico is Don of the Russo family. Serenity is the daughter of the Vivaldi family Don, a “principessa.” Nico is as dominant and violent as a crime boss comes. Serenity grew up with abusive parents who had complete control over her life. The story of how she and Nico grew to trust one another and, eventually, to find love was beautiful.

Nico is quite the vicious ganster. He does not leave the dirty work for his minions. Under all of this is a man who is hurting and suffering from guilt. He is also a man who wants someone he thinks he can't have until circumstances change.
Serenity is a mafia princess with some hidden pain and fears she hides from the outside world. The one thing she feels sure of is that she will be able to choose her husband, until things change and her reality is not what she thought it was.
This was a good book with an man who is loyal and protective to those he loves. In so many ways, he showed that he was a better man than Serenity's father and that he truly cares for her. Serenity ended up being the strong mafia queen Nico didn't think he needed.
If you like action with your romance and a splash of intrigue, you will most likely like this book.

I have read a few omega verse short stories from VT Bonds and have absolutely loved them so when this author decides to write a dark and dangerous mafia saga I was all in…
