It's only two things Nyla "Cola" Armstrong cares to accomplish. That's graduate high school baby-less and win her crush Dice's heart. Being raised by her alcoholic so-called mother often makes her feel like a motherless child.
Surprisingly her loyal attitude and beautiful face finally win the young hustla's attention all too easily. The two become an item, and Cola is blinded by his dangerous, thrilling yet secret double life.
When secrets and betrayal unravel will Cola pay the price for the cost of love?
First read by this author. Boy do they have a way with words...
First of all, I enjoyed it tuh much! The euphorisms for sex were an experience and hilarious! Literally, had to shake my head at some because what even is "throwing a snap- back love pop on Dice hood wood" 🤣🤣.
Listen: The bar has been set so low with urban/ "gangsta" or "street" romance that I had to pause ⏸️ and give 👍🏾 Kudos to the editor. So many good reads fall short of that 5🌟 reviews due to grammar and spelling.
While there are multiple POV's that tend to be a lil hard to follow. The story primarily follows Cola and Dice.
Cola was young but knew who she was. What and who she wanted. She did not allow her momma to break her, so she was not about to suffer, no fools! She set her young heart and eyes on Dice.
Dice is a slightly older hood Boss in his own right. He laid eyes on Cola, and it was a wrap. That man said:
"Give me a chance to show you who I am. I never had a girl before, but loyalty is a must. I'll have bitches crying about you before I ever let them laugh at you".
That's where it gets a little crazy. Because for as young as these folks are, the lives they live, decisions they make and expectations they have of each other, it's a lot for people so young, but I digress.
Chile, you won't know who to trust reading this book because no one's loyal. You will be at the edge of your seat with the foolishness and then be left on a cliffhanger. Hopefully, part 2 will be released soon. It's definitely worth the read..

I said what I said and as always: don't take my word for it. Read the book, form your own opinions, and support your authors!
5 🌟 To be what???? Imagine my shock!! I enjoyed this from start to finish!!!! I enjoyed how honest the relationship between Cola and Dice was! Cola has such a verbally abusive mother that if I could jumped through those pages, Nancy wouldn’t have live another day! Just when I started getting curious about some characters they were placed RIGHT there in the next couple of scenes or chapters. Courtney Harvey, MA’AM!? I need the next one! Phenomenal work!!
It started off kind of slow and Cola got on my nerves. Especially since she was 18 yet. Then I realized why she behaved that way. Her mama needs to go. Dice should’ve tied up loose ends but the plot twist. The cliffhanger ending? Where is the rest? Omg.
Whew! This whole book had me on edge and now I cannot wait for it to continue 😬. This was the first book by the author that read and won’t be the last!
This was my first time reading from Author Courtney Harvey's catalog and I must admit I truly enjoyed this story. The hate Cola mom feels towards her is just pure hate and jealousy and for no reason, her always belittling her for no reason put doubt and fear in heart as to her ability of being a bad mother but Dice figured things out and continue to pour into her. Now Courtney had me upset with that part in the story when Keisha was dreaming because I just knew Dice had betrayed our girl but it was a dream. I knew from that moment on that she would be plotting something but to enlist his best friend as for them to take out part of their team was sad, all because they felt Cola was taking what should have been theirs. Can't wait to dive into book 2 because when Dice puts things together I have a feeling they are going to see a side of him no one has ever seen before. Absolute great read.
Having not read any books by this author before, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. The love between Dice and Cola was surprisingly mature, given their age. I was impressed by their ability to communicate openly and honestly with each other, avoiding unnecessary complications. Sadly, the characters faced a challenging situation due to betrayal by those they trusted. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book to see how the story is resolved.
Upon getting Courtney's recommendation on her book, I was all for supporting her. As I began to read, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. The detail and storyline as each character is introduced is even more complimented as the unexpected plot twist in the end unravels. Wonderful job Courtney girl keep keeping on and may your journey be blessed.
Courtney Harvey this was the first book I read from you and this will not the be the last. I can’t wait to start part 2. I am mad it took me this long to finish but it was well worth it. I hope Dice punishes Black and Keisha. This book is definitely a page turner.
This book was 💥💥💥💥💥 explosive, which is not enough. Just when I thought it was over, the plot twist took me out! Keisha and Black deserve a painful, painful death! I need part 2 immediately!!
This is my first read by this author but not my last. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was good. That ending shocked me. I can’t wait to read part two. This is a great book to read.
3.5⭐️ it started very slow and I was tempted to add to my dnf list, but glad I didn’t. When it picked up, I couldn’t put it down, I think trying to be clever with word choice instead of cliche Urban Lit verbiage fell flat for me. This turned me off, and ended up skimming parts.
This book had so much trauma, disloyalty, envy and love. Let me start off my saying, I can’t stand Nancy. She was a pathetic mother to Cola. I can’t wait to see about her in the next book. I hope she’s mention.
Iesha and her mother were heaven sent. If it wasn’t for them, Cola would have been a statistic like her mother.
Black and Keisha🤬🤬🤬. Come on Dice, we need you. I can’t wait for him to get his hands on them two.
Dice didn’t play about his love for Cola. It definitely was love at first site. He change his number and mindset for her. Damn grown ass men don’t even do that. This was a great read.
