From Award Winning, Critically Acclaimed Author Katie McGarry comes the Next Generation of Pushing the Limits characters.

Her life has been shattered. His life was never whole. Can one summer change everything?

After a violent carjacking left her bleeding in the street, Macie Hutchins fears she’ll never be the same. She’s not the girl she once was—even if she puts up a good front.

Head down, she tries to survive the sweltering summer—and group therapy sessions—with secrets intact and scars hidden. Both those on the outside and inside.

But Relic Aslanov has always been trouble. Complicated trouble. Dangerous trouble. And his presence in therapy is making Macie’s plan to lie low and cope on her own trickier than her life has already become.

She can’t seem to hide from him, though. And he can’t seem to stay away from her—even when the long-standing rivalry between their families should keep them apart.

But as the summer simmers on, so do the looks, the touches—and the kisses that were never supposed to happen.

As things heat up between Macie and Relic, her white-picket-fence world collides with his wrong-side-of-the-tracks hell, and the truth about the carjacking bubbles to the surface.

When the dust settles and the truth is revealed, will the risk they took be worth it? Or have their pasts already doomed their future?

5 stars!

Oh, what a delight to come back into this world! Pushing the Limits remains one of my all-time favourite reads, even 12 years after its publication. It’s an incredible YA read, and I was thrilled when Katie McGarry announced that she was writing a ‘next gen’ story featuring Noah and Echo’s daughter - though it could also be read as a standalone. This book was everything I was hoping for – a dramatic and emotional story with well-developed, lovable characters on a life-changing journey, and a beautifully sweet love story. I devoured this book, and I loved it so much.

Macie Hutchins’ life was rocked when she was the victim of a brutal and devastating carjacking. She almost died, and has been left scarred, suffering from anxiety and PTSD, and a shadow of who she used to be. She’s trying hard to move forward, and she’s attending group therapy sessions at her school during the summer break, and that’s where she crosses paths with Relic.

Relic is looked on as a bit of a bad boy at school, but in reality he’s an absolute sweetheart. His family is connected with a dangerous neighbourhood gang, but he has worked hard to distance himself, and wants nothing more than to care and provide for his two sisters. He’s crushed on Macie since freshman year, and when the newly reclusive girl surprisingly reaches out to him, he responds, and makes it his mission to finally get to know her.

Macie and Relic’s lives could not be more different, but they find something in each other. Macie gives Relic peace, and a rest from the brutal reality of his life, and he gives her strength and confidence, helping her keep up the façade of ‘coping’ for her parents. They become friends, they begin to open up to each other, and they fall into the most beautiful young love. They’re open and honest with each other, they don’t hold back what they’re thinking or feeling, it’s natural and easy, and oh-so gorgeous, balancing the line of fun, flirty and teasing with soul-deep connection.

I didn’t understand these consuming emotions inside me. This peace that settled into my soul whenever she was near, as if she were the centre of the very universe in which we lived. All I knew was that with her, I felt. I didn’t mind allowing myself to fall. No, falling wasn’t right. Falling involved hitting the ground and pain. With Macie, I floated.

Relic helps Macie work through her trauma, uncovering secrets from that night, and slowly bringing her back to life. But in the meantime, his life is spiralling out of his control, and he’s running out of options to protect his family. His future will collide with Macie’s family’s past, and he has to make some devastating choices… but for the first time he has people to support him, and my feelings were all over the place as faces down his impossible situation and fights so hard for the people that he loves.

Helping along the way is the wonderful band of misfits from group therapy. The five troubled teens form an unexpected connection, and I loved getting to meet them, explore their stories, and see them be there and support each other as they each wrestle with their demons and try to find a way forward. Even as supporting characters, they are well-developed, and bring so much to the story, and I loved their inclusion.

Pushing the Limits fans will be thrilled at the familiar feel of this story, which brought the same heartwrenching emotion and beautifully sweet, soul-deep romance as PTL. And, of course, there’s the characters. Noah and Echo feature prominently, as do Isiah and Rachel, and I loved seeing them all grown up as parents of teenagers.

“That’s Noah, by the way. He’s Macie’s dad and the man who has no problem kicking your ass if you hurt his daughter. I’m Isaiah, the guy who has no problem burying bodies.”

Echo and Noah are still amazing together, and their love for each other still shines. Echo is a wonderfully supportive mother, and Noah’s struggles as a Dad wanting to protect and be there for his girl really brought the emotion.

“Loving her, protecting my family is the only job that means anything to me, and I failed her that night.”

It’s a heartwrenching journey that had me in tears, but it’s worth it for the beautifully happy ending. I loved how this story unfolded, and I watching so many people come together to support Macie, Relic and their friends as they fought for their HEA.

This is a gorgeous read, and a fave for 2025.

5 stars.

Katie McGarry sucked me in with her Pushing the Limits series many moons ago. I've been keeping my eyes out for more of her books, so when I saw a release featuring Noah & Echo's daughter as the FMC, I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. I didn't see it on NetGalley or Edelweiss, so I bought this with some Christmas gift cards that I got.

Macie is Noah & Echo's daughter. And she has suffered a tragedy. She was carjacked and shot. Now she's in trauma group therapy, where no one wants to talk. As a matter of fact, Macie can't talk. Every time she tries to talk about the "accident," she triggers a panic attack. Since the attack, Macie hasn't been able to drive either. Being in the car triggers panic attacks as well. She only has two friends that she still talks to. One is her best friend, who lives next door, Isaiah and Rachel's daughter--Ariel. And Gianna is the other. Ariel spends most of the book out of the country otherwise, the story wouldn't have the conflict it needed in some areas.

The MMC, Relic, is doing court-ordered group therapy as part of a plea deal after he got caught stealing money from a car. Relic has it rough. His mom left after he was born. His dad has just gotten out of prison. But he is right back in the clutches of a local drug dealer and gangster boss who happens to have ties to the previous series of books — specifically Chasing Impossible. Relic has an older sister who isn't all that reliable. And he has a younger sister that he's trying to protect at all costs.

Group therapy is where we meet most of the side characters from this story. They are all in therapy because of the trauma they are trying to overcome, process, and deal with. I don't want to spoil their stories, but I will say that I was frustrated with the bisexual(?) character. Basically, a boy who likes to wear girls' clothes. I liked Lev, and I felt terrible for the situation he was in. Yet, I can't say that I support his decisions or choices either. You can disagree with someone without hating them. And you can feel the same about a book character, also. I wish this weren't included in the story, but I'm mentioning it in case it affects other readers' desire to pick up this book.

Favorite quotes:
-"I'm not honest. I'm a survivalist. Those are two different traits. But here, tonight, I have no reason to lie."

-"You apologize for things that aren't your fault. Don't." "I'm not apologizing, I'm saying that I hurt for you."

Macie and Relic faced an incredibly difficult situation. I was thankful that Relic was as open with Macie as he was. So often, the MMC would try to hide everything he was going through if it were of the nature that Relic was. It was fun to see the old Pushing the Limits crew as adults and parents.

Risking It All gets 4 Stars from me. I wasn't surprised by the pieces that were intended to be surprises. I liked Macie and Relic. They had a sweet relationship. I enjoyed seeing the old characters from the previous series as adults and parents. And even though I didn't enjoy the pro-LGBT included, I still liked the side characters. I'm curious if we'll get to read more of the children from the original series. Ariel, perhaps. Have you read Risking It All? What did you think? Let me know!

Was this the best book ever written? No, not by a long shot. BUT I freaking loved every second of it.

Being back in this universe made teen me so damn happy. Seeing everyone grown up and just made it out was so heartwarming. When Noah and Echo showed up, I got all the warm and fuzzies, even though my heart was breaking for the whole situation. AND ISAIAH MY DUDE.<3

Anyways, Macie and Relice also stole my heart. Macie is the perfect mix between Noah and Echo, but still being her own person. And fucking Relice is my favourite, even though he had the STUPIDEST name. He was so supportive and caring and chill and funny, and I love him. The side characters were also so fun; the therapy group made me smile so much and tear up a few times. The "plot twist" was predictable, but I really didn't care. I had an amazing time.

I'M BEGGING KATIE MCGARRY TO KEEP WRITING THE NEXT GEN. I need more of them all.

May contain spoilers.

If you loved Pushing the Limits series, you’ll love this. It’s the children of the characters from PtL. But, you don’t have to read the original series to fall in love with this book.

I’m not sure what it is about her writing, but I can’t put her books down. And then I’m sad I read them too fast. Katie writes the tough stuff but she does it so well. And we get pieces from our favorite characters from the OG series. Ugh! I can’t get enough.

This YA series will tug on your heartstrings and pull a few tears, especially when you see the healing begin.

I had no idea that there was a next gen Pushing the Limits series book. It says it's coming out October 21, 2024. I checked the authors facebook and didn't see anything about it and I'll have to check my email to see if she sent a newsletter. This is about Noah and Echo's daughter. I need to reread Pushing the Limits series. I need to read the bonus scenes to see if their daughter is in it. I have mixed feelings about next gen series. These characters have been through enough already now their poor daughter got carjacked :( I hope she didn't get raped.

Last year the author did post an excerpt from the book.

Hi everyone! It's been a bit since I posted. I do apologize, but sometimes I become single focused when writing. I was head down writing a new young adult novel. I finally finished it last week and now it's in the hands of my awesome agent. Here is a small clip:

Macie, the only other senior-to-be, besides me, in our group. She sat across from me, and like she had since my freshman year, caught my attention. She had an unassuming beauty to her that I liked: long dark hair, curves I appreciated in those hip hugging jeans and white tank top that showed a hint of her flat stomach. She had on a cropped crocheted summer sweater that kept her from breaking the school’s insipid no bare shoulder policy. She had the face of an angel—high cheekbones, smooth skin with a summer tan, and freckles around the bridge of her nose like the sun loved her so much it gave her a kiss.

She’d entranced me from the first time I saw her in our freshman year, but I never once approached her. We lived in two different worlds. While we inhabited that area of town where the literal line between rich and poor merged, wavered and could change from one side of the street to the other, she stuck with her rich friends and I stuck with the people I knew had my back on the streets. Life worked better that way.

I hope you enjoyed the little taste of what I've been working on!

Katie McGarry once again delivers an intense and emotional story in Risking It All: Pushing the Limits Next Generation, a book that captivates from start to finish. Filled with raw emotion and an undeniable connection between its lead characters, this novel is a rollercoaster of healing, heartache, and forbidden love.

At the center of the story are Macie Hutchins and Relic Aslanov, two people whose lives couldn’t be more different. Macie, scarred by a brutal carjacking, is struggling to put the pieces of her life back together. The trauma she’s endured leaves her with wounds that go far beyond what the world can see. She keeps her distance from everyone, trying to move forward without anyone discovering the depth of her pain. Relic, on the other hand, is no stranger to chaos. A product of a broken family and a troubled past, he’s the last person Macie wants to get close to, but fate has other plans.

What makes Risking It All so compelling is the undeniable chemistry between Macie and Relic. Their connection is electric from the moment they meet, despite the tension between their families and the secrecy surrounding their pasts. The tension builds slowly but steadily, and the romantic moments—loaded with intensity and unspoken feelings—will have readers swooning.

Katie skillfully crafts both characters’ journeys with emotional depth. Macie’s struggle to overcome the carjacking’s aftermath is portrayed in a way that feels both authentic and heart-wrenching. You’ll find yourself rooting for her to find peace and a way to reclaim her sense of self. Relic’s own battles, marked by his troubled history, add even more layers to his character. Their relationship is as much about the risk of opening up to someone as it is about the undeniable pull between them.

The pacing of the novel is spot on. With each page, the stakes rise, and as the truth about the carjacking comes to light, the tension between Macie and Relic only grows. McGarry expertly balances moments of heartache with sparks of passion, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

Risking It All is a beautiful story about love, healing, and the courage it takes to move forward after trauma. It’s perfect for readers who love contemporary romance with deep emotional stakes and complex, compelling characters. This book will stay with you long after you’ve finished it, and you’ll find yourself thinking about Macie and Relic’s journey for days to come.

"I stared at the world passing us by. "What's it like?"
"Kissing?" Ariel asked for clarification.
"Yes."
"Like being the firework bursting in the clear sky on a hot July night. Especially those first few seconds of hesitation before a kiss. Where the expectation and gravitational pull makes you so aware of yourself. Of your skin over your muscles, of how your clothing whispers against your skin, of the way your heart thunders in your chest. Kissing is such a high, Macie, and I bet Relic's the best kisser. If you want a phenomenal first kiss, he'd be the one to share it with."
- Risking it All by Katie McGarry

While I had high expectations for this book — I can now say that Risking it All surpassed those expectations and Katie McGarry has done it again.

I have loved Katie's storytelling since the moment I picked up Pushing the Limits from the New Releases section at Barnes & Noble back in 2012.

Reading this book in a way transported me to that time for a short moment. Seeing how far Echo, Noah, and the rest of the crew have come. It honestly made me think about all the things I had not experienced when I read Pushing the Limits and how now reading the first book of the next generation, I am older, I have experienced more, and I understand a lot of the feelings these characters feel much better.

Now, with "next gen" books or books in series that focus on the "supporting characters" from the first book — there is always a risk that it will lack authenticity. But just like Katie proved to only improve as we got more books in the Pushing the Limits series; this beginning to the next generation did not disappoint.

Both Relic and Macie were unique while having the theme that many of Katie's books revolve around which is having one main character that belongs to the "wrong side of the tracks" while the other character comes from a better background while struggling with certain things in their life. While this is a bit cliché in her books at this point, it doesn't seem to get tiring.

Not surprisingly, I did not have any issues with this book. Except for my hatred for Lyra and Eric.

Thank you Katie McGarry for another wonderful book. I cannot wait for what else will come in this Next Generation.

It has been a very long time since I have read a Pushing the Limits book. And now this author is back with the next generation and it was so good! I’m so glad to be back in this world and now see favorite characters grown up and their kids are now getting stories. If you haven’t read the Pushing the Limits series, I recommend you do! It will be worth it to have all the backstory. But this story follows the daughter of Echo and Noah, Macie. Months ago, Macie faced a violent carjacking gone wrong and nearly died. She hasn’t been the same since. Fear has taken over her and no matter how many times asked, she can’t tell anyone what happened that night. Her body physically rejects it and she feels like she is losing herself more and more every day. All she wants is to go back to how she was before and not make her parents and family so worried. She can’t even drive a car anymore without fear paralyzing her. But things start to change when she begins to talk to Relic. They both attend a group therapy for different reasons and while the group has been silent for the most part, things are about to change for them. Relic is there because he stole $5 from a car and was caught. He has a record now and the thing is, he did it on purpose. It’s just him and his sisters. Their dad has just returned from prison and he was part of a gang. A gang that is putting pressure on Relic to join. But Relic refuses. He knows he is desperate for money and protection but he can’t be like his dad. He can’t join because he knows his sisters will still be in danger. Being around Macie, makes him feel like he is away from all that. The two of them develop a friendship that slowly becomes so much more between them. And they end up helping each other and even their new friends from group therapy, the more they spend time together. But things are never simple. Relic has to find a way to protect his sisters and Macie’s attackers are still out there. Together, can they overcome it all? I really adored this book. It was everything I loved from the previous series and it was just so fun being back in this world. We met such great characters and I really hope we see more of them and see more books! I’m definitely looking forward to where this series takes us.

My Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love Katie McGarry. I read Pushing the Limits on its debut tour back in 2012 when it was released, and I have loved her books in this genre ever since. I went back and bought them all because I love them so much. It's been awhile since she's written in this genre. Her recent releases in early 2020 were fantasy ones.

Katie McGarry's realistic contemporary novels are some of my favorite books of all time. So if you're newer to reading, you may not have heard of her, but she is absolutely fabulous and you should read them right now. So to say I was so so excited to read this one is an understatement. I'm always a bit leery of next gen. (Don't ruin my old favorite characters.) So I went in not knowing what to think.

I shouldn't have worried. Katie did a great job with this one. I loved the new generation of characters and seeing what happened to the older gen, too. It's hard for lightning to strike a bottle twice. Katie did it here. I really enjoyed this one. I still think the original series is my favorite, but this was so so so good, and I hope she continues to write more in this next gen. This is Katie at her absolute best. So if you haven't, do yourself a favor, and go back and read the older original series and then this one, too. It's good. She poignantly discusses so many deep and hard issues with such care. I have been and remain a huge fan of Katie.

I did predict quite a bit that would happen, but I still loved it.

Content Suitable for 16+. I thought this was meant for a younger audience than some of her other books. There are mentions to drugs, alcohol, etc. And some very very tame sexually related content that is very very high level and written in a young adult way. Less descriptive or provocative than most PG-13 movies by far. It's very very high level.

Love,

With the Pushing The Limits series, Katie McGarry was my favorite writer when I was in high school. So when she posted on Instagram that there would be a new generation of Pushing The Limits I almost lost it.

Coming back to this world was beautiful. I seriously wondered if I would enjoy this book like the ones before. But I was hooked from the first 10%, I loved it.
She shook her head, and when she glanced up, the hurt in her eyes resonated with something hidden deep within me. I understood that hurt, understood that pain. Understood not wanting to talk about any of it. Here was the thing—she shouldn’t have to. No one should ever be pressured to say a damn thing if they didn’t want to.

The found family feel that this story has is wonderful. Even with Macie and Relic as the main characters (great characters, btw), I was completely invested in the little details of the other characters. Especially, the ones in the therapy group. Are we going to get books about them? Because I need them already.

Connecting with Macie and Relic was easy because they are constructed in a very human way. You can't help but recognize the feelings and emotions they experience.
I understand struggle. I understand feeling like you work a million times harder than everyone else and things still never go your way.

The book has the ideal mix between funny, emotional, romantic and tense moments. The pacing is great, I didn't stop reading from beginning to end. And I cried like a baby when things got tough.
Of course, seeing characters like Noah, Echo and Isaiah again with their own families made my heart very happy. Now I need more of Ryan, Beth and West, please!
“Aren’t you tired,” Isaiah asked quietly. “Down in your bones, aren’t you exhausted being on your own? Because you don’t have to be. Let us be your family.”

Saw this at my local library and picked it up. Katie McGarry’s Risking It All is a masterclass in how to waste paper, time, and brain cells. This book reads like someone took every bad boy cliché from Wattpad, mixed it with a “misunderstood girl” template from 2007 Tumblr, and decided that was enough to call it literature. Spoiler: it’s not.

First off, the characters have all the depth of a soggy tissue. Our male lead? He’s edgy, tattooed, emotionally constipated, and shockingly original if you’ve never read a book before. The love interest? A cardboard cutout with anxiety, trauma, and no personality outside of her tragic backstory and the male lead’s jawline.

The plot drags like a three-legged dog through molasses. It’s all angsty stares, melodramatic inner monologues, and “will-they-won’t-they” tension that’s about as believable as a Hallmark movie with a murder subplot. Every scene screams I’m trying too hard, and by chapter three, I was screaming please stop.

Dialogue? Painful. You can practically hear the Pinterest quotes being copy-pasted into each dramatic moment. “You’re the light in my darkness” and “I’m broken, but with you, I feel whole” — bro, please. Find a therapist and a thesaurus.

And don’t get me started on the pacing. One minute they’re fighting for their lives in a dangerous underworld, the next they’re staring into each other’s eyes like it’s a CW show no one asked for. It’s tonal whiplash on steroids.

Bottom line: Risking It All is a risk to your sanity. If you want to read about tortured teens with more red flags than a communist parade and a romance that makes you root for a breakup, congratulations — this book’s for you. Otherwise, save yourself the trauma and toss it in the flaming trashsection where it belongs.

Zero stars. Negative stars, if possible.

This was back to the quintessential OG Katie McGarry, and I loved it. Such a delight to be pulled back into the world that started it all.
This is next generation story, picking up with Noah and Echo’s daughter, Macie. It mentions she has two brothers but there are very rarely on page (I don’t think one even featured) and starts in the aftermath of Macie surviving a carjacking and shooting, but not coping well.
All the old gang were in here as honorary aunts and uncles, and the book sets up for a whole new found family of misfits for this next generation. I loved all these new characters, and Lev’s story is going to be a hoot, I just know it. It’s basically everything you ever loved about Pushing the Limits with a new gang to focus on.
Relic is from a bad neighbourhood and struggling to bring enough money in to keep his family afloat. He’s being cornered and coerced into a worse situation, but won’t go down without a fight. But he doesn’t want to bring his bad into Macie’s life when she’s already got so much going on.
Relic was this consummate gentleman, cocky but always so cognisant of Macie and his little sister. The bad boy without actually being bad. He’s just in a bad situation.
There’s lots of love and support and growth in here and I just loved being able to have a new adventure in this world.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

General Thoughts: I LOVE Katie McGarry's books. She was my first foray into older young adult and then new adult books a decade or so ago. I've loved her ever since. Her Pushing the Limits and Thunder Road books are still some of my all-time favorites. Her books are edgy and gritty in the best of ways. She does such a good job diving into her characters and showcasing poverty, family, gangs, and other themes that are pressing but often not done well or ignored.

So to say I screamed a delightful scream when I realized this book was coming out is an understatement.

I loved this book. The original series and books has such a special place in my heart, but this one did not disappoint. I loved how everything I loved about Katie a decade ago still shone through here. I loved the characters and their growth. I thought this was more YA than some of her other books, but I mean that in all the best ways. It was a fantastic read. I am dying to read more. Keep writing them, Katie. We'll keep reading and loving them. Immediately bought on kindle to read and then a physical copy for my shelves once I finished it.

Spice Meter: 🪵 Hints of spice. This is suitable for 16+. There are some vague references to sexual content, but it's very, very high level and appropriate for teens.

Romantic Tropes:
-dual POV
-high school
-friends to more
-close proximity
-slow burn

I read my first Mcgarry’s book in 2014 after that, I couldn’t stop…Her stories have kept me company in many moments of my life.

The author has a gift with words. In fact, she has the ability to make the reader enjoy the angst as much as the happiness. It’s impossible not to feel what the character is feeling through their journey to find fairness.

In this book, Mcgarry has done a great job of portraying social injustice, which is also a sad reality. Also, she included mental health concerns, parental abuse, and treason. Not everything is bad though, the friendship that was born in the adversity is top-notch. Those friends are funny and beyond loyal, what a pleasure was to read about them.

Of course, we have the romance where He falls first, and as the author's signature, it is beautiful, innocent and sweet.

Finally, as the cherry on the top, we get to see old characters, old friends all grown up, a sign of hope that things at the end really get better.

100% recommended. Can’t wait for what is next.

A poignant, heartfelt, and layered romance imbued with tension, intrigue, and heart. Macie and Relic’s connection leaps off the page, with kissing scenes that will leave you breathless. The plot is richly imagined in a way that is fresh and new, while also paying homage to Pushing the Limits. Familiar faces and relationships play perfectly alongside a rich cast of new characters. All players breathe incredible life into this novel about love, hope, and all the things that can go wrong in between. Lev was a personal favorite, though I rooted for everyone in Macie’s sphere. A gripping and engrossing read that will delight readers hungry for a new Katie McGarry title. Encore, please.

I wish I had gone back and reread all of the Pushing The Limits series so that I could get my head back into the world of the characters....but I didn't. And that really didn't matter. This stands well on its own.

Macie Hutchins is a good girl, she has always done all the right things. Until everything changed when she was violently carjacked, and her world ceased to make any sense.
Relic is the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but he doesn't want to be. He got caught up in a life that he didn't choose and has fought tooth and nail to get out of.

There are a lot of parallels which I actually quite like and I just hope this is the beginning of a whole new series.

I've been reading Katie McGarry since I was in high school, and this book reminded me of the reasons why I adore her books!! Sweet Relic and Macies's journey just twisted and squeezed my heart. Both trying to deal and heal made me sit on the edge of my seat. Seeing the previous characters from the original series now as parents was adorable!!! I'm must say I wish the romance between the two main characters was a bit flushed and not as rushed. However, it worked in the end. I'm so excited for the next book in this next generation series!!!!

I read it for the nostalgia. It was a blast getting to see adult Echo and Noah, and sneak peeks of all the gang. But honestly I did not like the heroine, she was whiny and the whole I'm gonna throw up just because I'm talking about it got annoying at a point. Thank god for the hero he really made the book worth while.

But the idea of this series is still really intriguing because I would love to see more from the characters of the original story, I need to read about an adult Beth. a cameo from uncle Scott would make my year.

Way too many typos

I love Katie McGarry’s writing style, especially the way she develops her characters. However, my grasp of and investment in these characters was definitely negatively impacted by all of the typos in this book. Not only werethere grammatical errors but in some cases, I actually had to fill in words. I blame bad editing. However, I did enjoy this book and loved reconnecting with old “friends”: Noah/Echo, Isaiah (of course) and even Abby. I look forward to getting to know this next “Pushing the Limits” generation. Ariel’s story should be a pip!

I do kind of feel like I’ve read this Katie McGarry book before (character dynamics, POVs, themes, struggles, dialogue, vibes), but I absolutely do not care. I loved it the first time, and I loved it again. Most of the parallels to previous Katie McGarry books were intentional, and this book was Saying Something, and it made me cry. A lot. So I'm glad this book exists, very much so, and I'm excited (understatement) for whatever other Next Gen books we may get in the future.

Katie McGarry is BACK! - and in the best way possible. Risking It All had the feel of the first generation series with amazing new characters, entertaining new drama, and new friendships and romances to fall in love with. The ties to the original series were fun and only added to this heartwarming story. Fans and new readers are sure to love this book. I hope this is the start of a new series.

I loved being back in the “Pushing The Limits”world with these new characters.
Our FMC Macie is OG characters Echo and Noah’s daughter. The MMC Relic has a bad boy rep and gang connections.
This has dual POV chapters, and tells their story of first love with all kinds of outside complications.
I love that the OG characters make appearances and we find out where they are now as adults.
I have always loved this series, and hope there are many more books with the new generation.

so cute!!!

Katie McGarry does a great job of putting 2 world into one relationship. As someone who has read all of her Kentucky books I love how she brought in old characters while still giving the new characters a voice. I loved the new angle of her original stories and can’t wait for more in this series. I wonder if she will add thunder road characters into this series as well? Seeing as these characters are connected! Can’t wait to see where our new generation leads us.

Macie & Relic were tremendous characters & I loved this addition to the Pushing the Limits series! It was awesome characters like Echo & Noah & others. Macie has a wonderful family & friends while Relic is family to his 2 sisters constantly trying to get money to buy food & pay bills. It was awesome Relic has noticed Macie since freshman year & he seizes a chance to befriend her while they attend therapy. I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of this story & Macie’s opening up to Relic while he becomes more than friends with her. A must read!
