Thank you to Vyk Peters and NetGalley for giving me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book hooked me right from the start with its fun, slow-burn tension. Arna and Andy’s mutual attraction was clear, even if it took a while to fully unfold, which made the build-up that much more satisfying. At first, Andy rubbed me the wrong way (he had his moments!), but it wasn’t long before he grew on me.
Arna’s social awkwardness is relatable and endearing, especially as she navigates her feelings around someone as charming as Andy, who’s clearly smitten by her. Fame, as portrayed in the book, brings its own set of challenges, and I love how Peters doesn't shy away from showing the darker sides of it—adding a layer of depth to Andy’s character.
And let’s just say, Arna calling her lady parts “Barbara”? Iconic. And to be honest with you, I envy her. She had a great time.
The book went from 0 to 100 like REALLY fast (in terms of spice), catching me off guard in the best way possible. It’s honestly kind of hot.
Of course, it all wraps up in a happily-ever-after, but I couldn’t help worrying about Marlee, hoping she’ll be okay after everything.
Now for the side characters:
The friendship between Arna and Marlee was a breath of fresh air; they call each other out constantly, which made them feel so genuine. And Arna’s grandma? Such a queen (I loved her humor too). Arna’s dad, though, has a one-size-fits-all solution for everything: beer.
Now… the BIG elephant in the room: Arna’s roommate. He gave me the creeps every time he appeared.
Now for Andy’s friends; they were mostly arseholes (in my opinion), except for Pup, who quickly became a favorite. His younger brother started off likable but pulled a mad 360, leaving me feeling so mixed.
To the author
Thank you, for creating such an enjoyable and captivating story! I had such a great time getting lost in all of it. The characters felt so real, and the story had just the right balance of humor, tension, and heart. I truly appreciate the thought you put into the relationships and the quirks that made everyone feel so unique.
