Maybe it's time for her to have an adventure.
Tessa and Lexi Voss lost both of their parents in a plane crash a few years ago. Since then, Levi has taken his big brother duties very seriously. He'd like to wrap her in bubble wrap to keep her safe. She just wishes he would give her credit for being an adult and a business owner who is able to live her own life without his "help," unless it's asked for.
At one time, Levi was just as much of a daredevil adrenaline junkie as his friend, Ryder Hawke. That came to a screeching halt for him when his parents died. Nowadays his life centers around watching out for Tess and his business, Skyline Bar and Grill.
Tessa had a hard time dealing with her grief after the loss of her parents. Decades earlier, they had opened The Velvet Book bookstore. She took over the business to honor them and to help keep their memories alive. Plus, she loves her job. Only when she took over the bookstore did they learn that neither parent had been good with all the paperwork necessary for a business.
Ryder still craves the adrenaline rush, although he has cut back a tiny bit. He now does tours all across Montana for his customers at his wilderness adventures company.
Word is spreading swiftly throughout Hope Peak that Angelique Bishop is back in town. Her customers told her first, then Levi, and finally Ryder.
Ryder and Angelique had been dating a few months ago, but it was more casual than she wanted it to be. She had her sights set on becoming a social media influencer. She set Ryder up and secretly filmed his reaction. She soon posted her "Woe is me, don't you feel sorry for me?" video. It gathered some attention.
Now she's back to make a post of the town's rugged side. She, too, had been an adrenaline junkie. Now she wants to film both him alone and the two of them doing extreme snowboarding down the mountain. Ryder is certain that somehow she'll convince Tessa to help. To protect Tessa and to thwart Angelique's plans, he proposes that the two of them fake date. He just hopes she doesn't realize that it's what he really wants. While she hopes he won't learn of her massive crush on him.
Just as things are beginning to settle between Tessa, Ryder, and Levi, a stalker is coming after Tessa...

Fake dating in Hope Peak.
Ryder's social media star ex was back in town, and posting that she was going to be working with him. And she wouldn't take No for an answer. Ryder thought maybe if he had a fake girlfriend, it might keep his ex away. But the only woman he trusted was his friend's sister. And he wasn't sure she would want anything to do with his plan.
Tessa owned a little bookstore in Hope Peak. She had never been very adventurous, and preferred to keep her life on the quiet side. Ryder tended to be the exact opposite of that, so when he approached her with his fake dating idea, she needed to process it for a bit. Even if it succeeded in keeping Ryder's ex at bay, it was sure to get her overprotective big brother all sorts of wound up. But she was a big girl, and this was her decision. Who knows what could happen?
Ryder had been friends with Tessa and her brother before an accident killed their parents, but they had drifted apart since then. Even so, they were still the most important people to Ryder, and he missed them. This would give him a chance to reconnect with them, and maybe something more. Tessa couldn't deny an attraction to Ryder, but she had been witness to his very public breakup, and she wanted none of that kind of drama.
This was a good read, sweet and steamy. Ryder played the part of doting boyfriend well, complete with sweet and protective actions. There was even a little stalker drama that really tested their bond. A good addition to the Hope Peak Valentine's Day series.

When Faking Turns Dangerous . . .
Tessa Voss -- the younger sister of Levi who is Ryder Hawke’s best friend -- is the owner of the family bookstore, The Velvet Book in Hope Peak. Ryder is a wilderness tour guide who needs someone to be his fake girlfriend when his troublesome ex-girlfriend, Angelique Bishop, shows up in town. So he asks Tessa if she would be willing to play that role to help him avoid Angelique and whatever drama she is planning to drag him into. Although Tessa and Ryder have totally different personalities from each other, this is only pretend until Angelique leaves town, so she agrees to help. But soon after, she found a plain, pink envelope with “Tessa” written on it, unsigned, slipped under the door and not where her mail was normally delivered. The handwritten note inside was kind of “bold” and made her feel a bit uncomfortable. At first she wondered if it was from Ryder, but that didn’t seem like expected behavior -- and he wasn’t the secretive type. When another pink envelope arrived, it started to frighten her, implying the sender had been watching her, wanted “more”, and that “very soon, we will happen “. This time, she texted Ryder that she needed to talk to him. He was upset that this was happening, but he swore to protect her, no matter what. Who could be doing this? And why? Is she actually in danger? And as Tessa and Ryder seem to be getting closer to each other, could they possibly want to make their current fake relationship real?

Levi’s protectiveness towards his sister could through a wrench in the plan, but it’s nothing the mountain guide can’t handle. However, the very real attraction he feels towards her could just be more dangerous.
Bookstore owner Tessa has harbored a secret crush on Ryder for years. Chafing against her brother’s overprotectiveness, she sees no harm in playing Ryder’s fake girlfriend. But when notes appear from a secret admirer, she goes from charmed to spooked. If they’re not from Ryder, then who is stalking her? Turning to Ryder for comfort, the line between fake and real begins to blur. Can a relationship started on lies become real?
Told in the alternating views of Tessa and Ryder, we get a sense of both characters personalities and motivations. Playing on several tropes: fake dating, sibling’s best friend, and opposites attract, with an off kilter ex thrown in to the mix, the story progresses at a fast pace. Tessa and Ryder have both been harboring crushes, so the quick acceleration of their relationship fits. There are a few minor continuity snags that disrupted the flow, but the characters are engaging enough to keep the narrative going. Side characters of Tessa’s best friend, Caroline, and brother, Levi are both set up to have their own love stories, and I look forward to revisiting Hope Peak, Montana.

When Ryder’s ex crashes back into Hope Peak, he knows one thing for sure, she’s going to be nothing but trouble. After nearly wrecking his reputation once before after their break-up, he’s desperate for a way to keep her at bay. His solution? A fake relationship with none other than his best friend’s little sister. What could possibly go wrong? Right? I absolutely loved how Tessa didn’t just dive in blindly and that she took the time to weigh the risks, knowing full well that pretending with Ryder could blur some very real lines. And let’s be honest, both of them were secretly hoping for something more. Their years of friendship gave them an easy, natural connection, making their transition from fake to real feel genuine and effortless. Unlike typical instalove stories, this romance felt organic, believable, and packed with chemistry. Of course, Tessa’s brother, Levi, had his doubts, but honestly? Ryder and Tessa were meant to be. And speaking of drama, let’s get back to Angelique. Wow. What a piece of work. I love a good villain, but man, did she deserve a harsher takedown. Tessa was just too nice! But I’m glad the townsfolk had her back. If you love fake dating, small-town charm, and a romance that feels as real as it is heart-melting, this one’s a must-read.

OMG this was a great book. Quick read and I really enjoyed the action packed of emotions drama. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. It was addicted and mind blowing of excitement and romance. He was a charming handsome mountain man named Ryder and her name is Tessa was a beautiful Owner pf a book store called Velvet. This romance was forbidden because Ryder was her brother's Levi best friend. They couldn't fight the temptation any longer and as things were heating up between them in a spicy and steamy of passion. These others characters were invested in this emotion of drama . Could she be falling in love with him in this moment. But he was falling for very hard and he didn't know what to do next in this moment.
I highly recommend book and you won't be disappointed.

My Mountain Man Valentine has charm, suspense and is definitely a page turning romance. This book is phenomenally written, well balanced and beautifully executed by Annee Jones. Annee Jones continues to show what an incredible author, storyteller and writer she is with each book that I have read by her thus far. My Mountain Man Valentine characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. This book is the story of Tessa and Ryder. I do love that Ryder and Tessa have a happy ending to their story with them being happy together as a couple. I can hardly wait to see what else Annee Jones will come up with for her next book. My Mountain Man Valentine is definitely a book that I would give as a recommendation for anyone who enjoys reading short stories that can be read in one sitting.

For a quick read, the characters in this book were surprisingly complex with significant backstop provided. Ryder and Tessa have known eachother for years, with Sebastian (her brother) being Ryker's lifelong best friend. He's a bit of a risk-taker /adrenaline junkie at heart, while she prefers the quiet peace of her bookstore, The Velbet Book. When his ex shows up in town, right before Valentine's Day, hoping to manipulate him into "joint Instagram adventure" he panics and asks Tessa to be his fake girlfriend to ward her off. Things really start jumpin' from there as the two are pulled into a whirlwind of mystery and unexpected feelings.
I enjoyed the interactions and honesty between the MCs and am looking forward to reading more about the characters in this book. I voluntarily reviewed a gift copy of this book. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

When Ryder’s ex-girlfriend comes back to town believing that they should get back together in part because they can help each other’s careers he wants no part of it. He believes the best way to deter her is for her to believe that he has moved on and who better than Tessa, his best friend’s sister to play the part of his pretend girlfriend.
Tessa has had feelings for Ryder for years however she doesn’t believe he would be interested in someone like her as their personalities and lifestyles are very different. When she agrees to be his girlfriend she finds herself dealing not only with the feelings between them but the escalating threat against her.
Ryder and Tessa were perfect for each other however not only are they dealing with her brother’s concerns but the lengths that someone is willing to take to keep them apart.
Tessa has had feelings for Ryder for years however she doesn’t believe he would be interested in someone like her as their personalities and lifestyles are very different. It's a short and steamy, friends-to-lovers, fake dating, opposites-attract, curvy girl gets her brother's best friend Valentine's Day romance. Tessa is a shy and sweet curvy girl who runs the local bookstore. Ryder is a hunky mountain man who is a bit of an adrenaline junkie and runs wilderness adventures. He is also her older brother, Levi's, best friend. When Ryder's crazy ex returns to town wanting to reconnect with him, he asks Tessa to be his fake girlfriend to get her off his back. She agrees, but the two have real feelings. Throw in a stalker and you have quite the story. These two had great chemistry, and the ending was happy after the drama was resolved. I can't wait for Caroline and Knox's story next.

This is a brothers best friend fake dating and it's very well written. Ryder asks Tessa to be his fake date so he can get away from his ex Angelique who happens to be an influencer. Tessa and Ryder have known each other for years and when they start their fake date they realize that this doesn't have to be fake, that what they have is real. But when a stalker starts to threaten Tessa can Ryder protect her? I loved the story, it's sweet with a bit of steam but I loved the characters the most. They seemed so real. It's a great story.

I really enjoyed this Valentines romance and getting to know both Ryder & Tessa as well as their friends in the small town of Hope Peak, Montana. I am looking forward to reading more books set in this town and getting to know several of this books characters better in their respective stories.

There is some suspense involved with the storyline as Tessa gets a bit of a $t@lker. There is a bit of a mystery to figure out who it is, but the storyline gets wrapped up quickly.
The story was super cute and it flowed very well. I felt I got enough information.

I enjoyed this book so much! Tessa is such a sweet girl. She decides to help Ryder by pretending to be his fake girlfriend. His ex is a social media influencer, and she has made his life miserable. Tessa wants to help him stay free of the ex. But it doesn't take long for Ryder and Tessa to understand what they have is not fake. There were twists in the plot I didn't expect, and they made the book excellent! This book has plenty of spice and a perfect HEA.

The story of Ryder and Tessa includes a fake relationship and it also has suspense in the secret admirer plot line. The storyline itself is good. I feel that there are missing pieces. I think it needs work. I almost feel like it could not decide between being a sweet story and a spicy story. I am giving stars for the story and the characters including Levi, Tessa's brother. He and Ryder were best friends. 2.5.

But when there is underlying feelings, well, good luck with keeping it fake. Add in an unknown stalker, and you get tons of drama that brings these two together, making it super sweet.

Good soft suspense Valentine theme read. Levi, Tessa's older brother was over the top Alpha controlling to a certain extent. Once you read it, you understand why he's kind of obnoxious. But this is not about him. It is about Tessa (who owns a book store) and Ryder having a fake relationship to ward off his ex. Now, Ryder is Levi's best friend and kinda adrenaline junky. There is a villain in this story. And this fake relationship might be more than what's on the surface. Good read.

Wowsa this book is so good and will definitely have you engrossed from the beginning until the end and the storyline flows throughout the book. More than just a cover story?
I enjoyed Ryder and Tessa's story, it may have taken a "fake dating" plot to give them the confidence to spend time together, but it is obvious from the first "date" that they have so much more. Their chemistry can be explosive and intense, but it also has sweet and comforting moments too. They are a lovely couple, he gives her confidence and a safe place to land, she grounds him and is his home...very cute. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
