Rajasekhara Charitramu

Kandukuri Veereshalingam (కందుకూరి వీరేశలింగం) (16 April 1848 – 27 May 1919), also known as Veereshalingam Pantulu (వీరేశలింగం పంతులు), was a social reformer of Andhra Pradesh. He is widely considered as the man who first brought about a renaissance in Telugu people and Telugu literature. . He was influenced by the ideals of Brahmo Samaj particularly those of Keshub Chunder Sen. He got involved in the cause of social reforms. In 1876 he started a Telugu journal and wrote the first prose for women. He encouraged education for women, and started a school in Dowlaiswaram in 1874. He started a social organisation called Hitakarini (Benefactor).

మన తెలుగులో మొదటి నవలగా కందుకూరి గారి రాజశేఖర చరిత్రమును పేర్కొంటారు. దీనిని తప్పకుండా ప్రతి తెలుగు పాఠకుడు చదువవలసిన అవసరం ఎంతో ఉందన్నది నా అభిప్రాయం.

వర్ణన, సామాజిక చిత్రణ, హాస్యం, వ్యంగ్యం మరియు ఊహించని మలుపులతో సాగుతుంది నవల.

తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో మొదటి నవలగా (ఈ విషయం చర్చనీయంగా ఉన్నా) బహుళంగా ఆమోదయోగ్యం పొందినది. కథ పరంగా కొంత విలువలను నేర్పే నవల. నవల రాయబడిన కాలం 1870 దశకమ్ కారణంగా ఆ రకమైన బాష ఇప్పట్లో వాడుకలో లేనందున కాస్త ఇబ్బంది కలగవచ్చు (ఇది నా అభిప్రాయం).
