Loved the concept and the illustrations with all the color names. But I was frustrated that medium used for the illustrations did not differentiate very well between many of the colors. i.e. scarlet looked like crimson, coral looked like tangerine, lemon looked like canary etc. Had a different medium been used to illustrate (I am assuming it was done digitally) I feel there would have been a stronger differentiation between the colors - meaning a better example of the concept that the author & illustrator were trying to convey. The bold colorful characters were fun just needed some finesse to show the "rainbow" of colors of the queens.
A very colorful book spotlighting several hues of the colors of the rainbow & then some! I wish some of them were better differentiated but still fairly well done. I also appreciate that there is an explanation that drag is one creative outlet with the purpose of amplifying what makes you feel the most fabulous and confident. I think a lot of people get confused about that and assume it is solely sexual, so that was nice to see.
Chock full of alliteration and a rich rainbow of color words, I really enjoyed this simple and satisfying addition to the Drag Queen Story Hour canon. Perfect for when kids are starting to learn that there are shades of color beyond red, blue, yellow, etc.

The colors of the rainbow and hues in between are celebrated by drag queens of all shapes colors and sizes. A mermaid-queen (in a wheelchair) wears not only "basic blue," but AZURE! TEAL! CORNFLOWER! CELESTE! COBALT! TURQUOISE! A super fun color-words picture book with the bonus of featuring fabulous (not scary at all) Queens.
