The Inheritance Games meets Ocean's 11 in this thrilling YA adventure about a teenager determined to pull off the perfect heist in the midst of her father’s wedding.
Seventeen-year-old Olivia Owens isn't thrilled that her dad's getting remarried...again. She's especially not thrilled that he cheated on her mom, kicked them out of their Rhode Island home, and cut Olivia out of her rightful inheritance.
But this former heiress has a plan for revenge. While hundreds of guests gather on the grounds of the gorgeous estate where she grew up, everyone will be thinking romance—not robbery. She’ll play the part of dutiful daughter, but in reality she’ll be redistributing millions from her father’s online accounts. She only needs the handwritten pass code he keeps in the estate's safe.
With the help of an eclectic crew of high school students and one former teacher, Olivia has plotted her mid-nuptial heist down to the second. But she didn't plan for an obnoxiously nosy wedding guest, an interfering ex-boyfriend intent on winning her back, greedy European cousins with their own agenda, or a vengeful second wife. When everything seems like it's going wrong, Olivia has to keep her eyes on what really matters: getting rich. And when she’s done, “something borrowed” will be the understatement of the year.
Emily Wibberley attended Princeton University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Austin Siegemund-Broka, with whom she is author of The Roughest Draft, as well as several love stories for teens.
First rating: 3.25 Stars. Second rating: 3.75 Stars.
Alrighty, I think I can move on to the sequel!
A pretty cute YA book, if you ask me.
The Inheritance Games meets Ocean's 11 in this thrilling YA adventure about a teenager determined to pull off the perfect heist in the midst of her father’s wedding.
As a devoted fan of the duo (not only writing partners but also a real-life couple), I’m delighted to see them return to the young adult genre and create a fast-paced, highly entertaining high school crew version of an Ocean's 11 heist adventure, complete with vivid, varied supporting characters and a second chance love story.
I acknowledge that there are many silly moments in this book, and some of the twists are foreseeable from the beginning. There are also times when Olivia and Jackson’s sweet love story slows down the action scenes, and incidents in the book are hurled at us too quickly before we can fully absorb them, leading us into another action-packed sequence. Despite these faults, I still loved this book: it’s easy to read, with short chapters that keep your curiosity piqued, and the character development is still strong. Olivia is a determined, tough, and smart heroine that you easily root for, and Jackson steals scenes with his sweetness as he does everything in his power to win back his girl. I enjoyed their chemistry and banter, as well as the seamless introduction of characters and direction of the heist, which are told without dragging and without losing the reader's interest.
The main story revolves around Olivia Owens, who is kicked out of her Rhode Island house with her mother when their father decides to start another family with his mistress. This means war! Olivia is determined to get her share of the inheritance, which means she’s not going to steal, but she’s going to take what she deserves from her father’s accounts. To achieve her plan, she gathers her own Ocean’s 11 crew: a group of high school friends (most of whom are male, and I wish there were more female members to create subplots of love interest and conflicts) and a former teacher. But, of course, she didn’t plan on the involvement of her ex-lover, who may have cheated on her and is now trying to win her back, a bunch of European cousins who may ruin her plans, and a vindictive second wife who could turn into a wild card! Olivia has to keep her eyes on the prize to get her deserved share, but there are many additional obstacles to her plan that she needs to face. Can her team finish the job they started? Will justice be served fairly this time around?
Overall, I’m rounding up my rating from 3.5 stars to 4 stars for this very enjoyable, riveting, action-packed young adult romance! I especially recommend it to fans of the author duo!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Books for Young Readers for providing me with this entertaining read's digital review copy in exchange for my honest opinions.

overall thoughts 🎂
The writing was okay, and easy to read without being Wattpad-ish. Once I got into it, I could fly through it. I don’t have much thoughts on it, but I can’t say if it has improved, because this is the first Wibbroka book I’ve read.
Some of the scenes were cringe, I don’t really like it when authors try to make a book too modern. There wasn’t too much pop references thankfully, but mention of making Spotify playlists, dming on Instagram, removing heart emojis from a person’s name on contacts, etc. But, sometimes banter was done right and had me laughing out loud (but mostly laughing internally).
I think this book would be a nice pallet cleanser between books if you want a quick, easy, fun YA. I have to say, this book has some predictable parts, and usually I don’t bother guessing, but it was easy to. Some plot twists made me close my book and stare at the wall tho. The first half made me want to dnf, but I had to push through since it was on my physical tbr, and I’m glad I did because the second half was good.
The action scenes were thrown out and before we could fully understand them, another one was thrown, which led us into a big action scene sequence. I don’t think they outlined the book that well. See, there’s a lot of action scenes together all of a sudden after a very boring part.
Also, the ending kinda gave off Carmen Sandiego vibes. I know that’s a very weird comparison, but to me it js did, at least at the very end.
It also took me a LOT of time to get into this. I was very close to DNF’ing multiple times. So if you get through the beginning, which seems like forever, I think you’ll enjoy this.

plot/synopsis💍
Olivia won’t forget what her father did. How he cheated on her mother. How he kicked them out with nothing because of a prenup. So when she gets invited to her father’s wedding for his third marriage, she happily accepts, seeing it as the perfect opportunity for revenge.
Her plan is perfect, with stages and everything, but will everything go to plan? Unexpected obstacles come her and her crew’s way, including a vengeful second wife.
She assembled the perfect group. But an also weird group all the same. Her, a baker, a hacker, an actor (to come as Olivia’s rebound to the wedding), and a fired teacher. Oh, and everyone besides the teacher are teenagers. But seventeen. And sure don’t act like it.
That’s one of my complaints. It could easily be NA if you change the ages. Teenagers could never do that, and this book is too juvenile for NA. But of course, the teens need the money to start a business, because they owe money, js typical adult things. And Olivia, which the pov this book is in, talks about how she has done the deed before. And the characters swear a lot. I guess teenagers do swear a lot, but c’mon? The thing before that? Why did that even have to be in there?

romance💰
Usually I’m all for a romance sub-plot, and I still enjoyed it in this book, but it felt forced. But also, this is Wibbroka’s first time writing in this genre, actually, writing anything that isn’t a romance book, so it certainly was out of their comfort zone.
But it still felt forced. How am I supposed to enjoy the romance between Olivia’s ex and her if we haven’t really seen them together? Seen them with a healthy relationship? If we don’t get to see what led them there, there’s really no way to be able to root for them to get back together. We’re basically giving nothing to work with nor fangirl over. I want a slow burn, but since it wouldn’t work with the plot, the authors couldn’t. But the ex thing didn’t really work either imo.
And the romance also took away from the action scenes. We’re in the middle of a heist, and Olivia’s ex can waltz in and she’ll be perfectly fine. I DON’T WANT TO READ ABOUT HOW YOU MISS HIM! HOW IT USED TO BE! I want you to js finish the dang heist 😭 It was so forced. Putting romance there when she’s in the middle of something.
But, they’ve only written romance before this book, so I guess this book was bound to have romance, I mean, this book must be wayyyyyy out of there comfort zone.

I felt very underwhelmed for my first heist book. I don’t know if it’s supposed to feel that way, but when they said they did it, I found myself asking, really? That’s it?
At least we got to see some of the planning and the hiding and the rush was good, unlike the other heist books I’ve read after I read this.
Underwhelming. All those plot twists felt like nothing, not even the action scenes, because it felt really boring at times.
But of course, I still enjoyed some of it. The plot twists I didn’t predict were okay. And I think the authors were trying to make it found family, but it didn’t really feel like that til the end, and it was a little bit of it. Adding a group chat with code names didn’t really do anything friendship wise.
As for the comparisons between The Inheritance Games and Ocean’s 11, well actually, I can’t compare it to Ocean’s 11 because I’ve never watched it, but it was nothing like The Inheritance Games. Besides the rich, toxic family, and the rich people party/wedding, it was rlly nothing like it. Which is disappointing, because I bought it because it was being compared to The Inheritance Games. By the same publisher (Little Brown) of the two books.

NVM THEY’RE MAKING A SEQUEL OMG OMG OMG I Also, everyone’s excited for the next book, and I would read it if they made a sequel, but is it gonna happen? The next book they’re publishing isn’t a sequel to this, it’s a romance, but I hope they make one (surprisingly. I told you, I have very mixed thoughts).

content warnings💻
Alcohol/violence~ People do drink in this book, after all, it’s set at a rich people wedding, but I don’t think there’s any violence.
Spice 🌶️~Olivia, the fmc, mentions multiple times that she’s done the deed with her ex, and talked about her getting pr0t3ct!0n, which I thought was quite unnecessary. That is before the book, so we aren’t there luckily. Tho, she unzips part of her dress in front of her date locked in a room until she gets interrupted.
Language~ The word sh*! is used a lot, and I think so is d@mn, and maybe the f word, I forgot.

PS: If you enjoyed this you’ll love Heist Society by Ally Carter
pre-read💰 Saw the cover at Target and had to pick it up. This will be my very first heist book, so I’m excited. Also, Inheritance Games meets Ocean 11? Since I’m waiting for Brothers Hawthorne to come out in paperback, hopefully this book will subdue the urges to buy the hardcover. I let my sister choose the book she thinks I’ll like the most from my tbr cart and she chose this
I love the concept, but the execution not so much.
THIS WAS MESSY
TOM WAS THE BEST CHARACTER
I feel like our main girl was childish, but also spoke like a 30 year old sometimes? She had a moment where she said she wished her parents were still together but I feel at some point, with all you know, how could you wish that? Even with all the money.
Our FMC was sooo confident and in charge of her master heist plan, but just in case you were curious, the majority of her 'research' was watching Ocean's 11 multiple times. I honestly wish I could be that confident from watching a movie about something.
Kevin was a whole story line which actually might have been the best part somehow? All the others on the team just there? they were convenient. Jackson - what can I say about him... I feel like he was too good for her but he was also blind and maybe even a bit obsessed with her - "he looked at her endearingly", "he worked for months to buy the Adidas shoes I wanted".
“Heiress Takes All” is an adventurous YA mystery / thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. Light easy, entertaining read for teens, YA and adults alike.
The first chapter had me hooked, we see our FMC racing through a mansion whilst being chased down by guards, and just as we think she has found an escape an unknown persons crashes the party.
Then we flash back to what brought our heroine to these circumstances and learn all about her plot to run a heist with the goal of stealing millions of dollars from her awful father with the help of her group of trusty misfits, each with a unique sets of skills.
We also have some romantic tension and chemistry with the likes of her steamy ex boyfriend, Family feuds with her cousins and step mothers and lots of twists and action.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, this is the perfect pallet cleanser if you’re looking to take a break with a not-so-serious, humorous and adventurous read.
The only flaw I found was that the book did seem to lose steam for me after the first half, however I liked the way everything tied together at the end with one extra surprise twist and an open minded conclusion with a wholesome feel.
Thank you to Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka, Little brown books for young readers and NetGalley for the EARC!
It just left me kinda bored. I found myself skipping a lot of sections too as the heist dragged on.
I think it was an entertaining enough concept with decent characters but there were far too many plot holes for me to give it a higher rating. Too often I found myself thinking “this is so unrealistic” or “this is the longest wedding ever”. The more I think about the book the more I realize I was just waiting for it to end.
Overall I would read the author’s work again but likely wouldn’t want to return to these specific characters.
Finishing this feels like getting out of a quicksand. It’s hard. The authors just kept on adding and adding additional storylines/twists which got me so bored already. I understand the book needs it to make it interesting as I go along but why am I still bored? Lol. The only part that I like about this book is Kevin. He’s much more interesting than the main character, Olivia. He’s the only one that’s keeping me entertained throughout the book.
I'm a firm believer in silly, fun books. They have a lot of charm and are easily digestible between serious, lengthy novels. Heiress Takes All fits perfectly in that category.
Olivia's father is the textbook definition of a deadbeat dad. Fortunately, he's a rich deadbeat dad. Olivia is hellbent on revenge after he screwed her and her mom over. The perfect opportunity drops into her lap: her dad's marriage to his mistress. She assembles a crew to steal millions of dollars from her dad. But, nothing goes to plan, especially as her ex-boyfriend keeps getting in the way.
Again, this book is just so much fun. It starts fast and resumes that breakneck speed. Olivia is a high-strung untrusting MC. She's quick on her feet and changes her plans as more and more things go wrong. Her crew was easy to distinguish
I had to suspend my disbelief from the beginning. Immediately, there were plot holes and questions swept to the side for the book to work. I had to ignore these things for the book's ending to work. I didn't mind, since the authors weren't going for a complicated, serious heist.
There were too many twists for my taste. While they kept the book entertaining, it was too much. The twists formed several subplots and mysteries that were hard to track as the authors built the story. Two subplots kept my attention, but I'm guilty of tuning out the rest.
I didn't expect the emotional turmoil Olivia would go through. Between crazy plot twists, Olivia grapples with her complicated feelings about her dad. She struggles with anger at how he's treated her, and the shame of still wanting him to be proud. The trauma and mistrust he's caused carry over to all of her relationships, especially with her ex. Usually, I don't like romantic subplots, but here it worked. It was integral to Olivia's character arc and coming to terms with her trauma.
If you want something light-hearted, and crazy with a feel-good ending, this is a great one to pick up! Just be ready to ignore some obvious plot holes from the get-go.
Content Warnings: swearing, cheating, parental neglect, mentions of sex
Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown Books for Young Readers, for the advance copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I loved this! I’ve read all of this author duo’s books and this is definitely one of my favorites of theirs. I’m a big fan of heist stories anyway, so the premise got my attention.
The story follows Olivia, who, with the help of a team she has assembled, is attending her father’s wedding — to steal his fortune.
I love the urgency of a heist story. The need to plan for every contingency and the need to trust in the team. I was on the edge of my seat to see everything come together.
This book has a very fun cast of characters. I had no difficulty keeping them straight in my head because they all had totally different personalities and traits. I also loved the chess nicknames. They were so clever and fun! I would have to say, McCoy and Kevin stole the show for me. I loved both of them so much.
I wasn’t expecting the book to be as funny as was. A lot of times, heist stories and be tense and serious, and this one was at times, but there were also so many humorous moments and I laughed aloud quite a few times.
Both hilarious and heartfelt, with a cute romance and an engaging cast of characters, this was an excellent heist story. I can’t wait for the sequel! (Please????)
This book started out good but then as it progressed (around 50%) it got dumber…and dumber. I definitely see the ocean 11 x inheritance games vibes in the beginning and I wish it stayed.
So heres the thing... i kinda forgot to write a review for this (shhhhh ik ikkk) and right now i just feel like its too late so heres a short version!
・゜✧ 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: → ★★★★☆
・゜✧ 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: → This book was for some reason very hard for me to start, idk if it was because i was in a semi-slump or it was the book, but eventually it got better with the plot twists and the romance!!! Def enjoyed after the story actually got better!
・゜✧ 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝? → Yes!! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)/
𝓟𝓻𝓮𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓭 : I opened...then closed it....then opened it again...only to close it again!!! I hope this time when I open it...I'll actually read it 🤣
Olivia gets a crew together to plan and execute a heist. The target? Her lying, cheating, deadbeat dad who is also a zillionaire, and about to marry his latest mistress.
I hoped it would be funnier, but given the subject--a rotten excuse for a parent--I ought to have expected a lot of emotional fallout, which are well described. And that's kind of the point of the book, rather than the heist, which works because the author is shaping the story. There is also romance; a fun read for a certain mood, but not a *funny* one.
this book had a lot of potential I think, but it just didn’t hit. Lowkey cringey, with a veryyy unbelievable plot! I feel like it also didn’t live up to the promise of family drama…like it was kinda but like it just felt very surface level. Overall it’s just a very average book🤷♀️
Read if you like: 💰 family drama 💰 heists 💰 single timeline 💰 single POV 💰 large cast of zany characters 🤪 💰 short chapters 🩷🩷
I do love a good revenge plot 🤪🤪 When Olivia’s dad tosses her and her mother to the curb, she comes up with an elaborate plan to steal her rightful inheritance from him… on his wedding day…. to a woman that he cheated on her mom with 🤣🤣 and then the whole family gets involved! This book was so fun and silly… I loved when all of the “new” family members got involved with the heist as well 🤣 I hated all the characters and it worked out exactly how it was supposed to! A lot of books I read are multi-timelines and multi-POV… and this one was honestly refreshing being just one single timeline and one single point-of-view. There was no confusion with the jumping back and forth all over the place, and I was able to just focus and enjoy the story. I liked the team of crazy, wacky characters that Olivia put together to perform this heist with here, especially Olivia’s favourite teacher that her dad got fired for refusing to change Olivia’s grade to an A. I love a revenge plot 😈😈 With this many cooks in the kitchen, there was a lot of fighting and bickering, as I was totally here for it 🤪 This was a very enjoyable read that I breezed right through. I’ve really, really enjoyed the few books that I have read by these authors, and I can’t wait to read their next!
tl;dr A fast-paced heist plot stitched into a lot of complicated family drama.
Thoughts If you like your heists with a side of ~drama~, this one's for you. We've got messy parental relationships, squabbling extended family, blackmail, and dash of a love triangle to round it all out. Olivia Owens used to live a life of luxury - full of money, and devoid of meaning. This all changes when her mother divorces her cheating father, and she's left hanging in in the void between them. Kicked out of her family home, and with a mother struggling to make end's meet, she decides to get revenge by stealing millions of dollars from her father, all in the middle of his wedding to his third wife. She cobbles together a group of skilled teens (and one out-of-luck teacher) for her crew, puts together a very serviceable plan, and gets to work. The crew members are all fun and well-written with strong personalities and reasons of their own to be in this caper. I always like the actor character, so Tom is my instant fave, but they're all great. So great that Olivia somehow winds up being the one with the least to go on. She describes herself as determined, but all flashbacks portray her as somewhat directionless, with no clear path to how she became who she is. She researches thoroughly, masterminds a plan, and then doesn't include any fallbacks or contingencies for the complications that inevitably arise. Her motivations never fully hit sympathetically relatable, or ruthlessly entertaining, hovering somewhere between the two. She spends a lot of time pretending to be the girl the tabloids expect her to be, and very little being herself. I can't tell who she really is at all. Maybe she can't either. The book ends as a fairly comfortable oneshot. The door's open just enough that a sequel could happen, but the ending is satisfying enough that it doesn't need more.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers for an advance copy. All thoughts in this review are my own!
The writing in this book wasn’t bad. That was actually probably the best part, seeing as it matched the plot of the book swimmingly. The plot itself—or, rather, lack thereof—was, obviously, a big issue. Now, this is my first actual “heist” book, where the plot centralizes around a single, major heist. That’s the goal. Get in, get the money, get out. But, my word, this was a lot of book for a little bit of heist that seemed awfully pointless. I couldn’t get past it. If you like heist books, brave this one and tell me what you think, because I’m not the expert on the matter, but if you’re looking to try one, don’t start here. The next biggest problem: Olivia, the main character, was annoying, stupid, and wishy-washy. In an attempt to make her “strong”, the authors must have gotten the ingredients mixed up, because what they ended up with was a half-baked girlie seeking vengeance because…she went from rich to poor? I mean, she was thrust into a situation that is, unfortunately, rather common for modern Americans today. And, somehow, because she had grown up rich, she decided that stealing was the way to go, rather than try literally anything else. Was her dad a jerk? Absolutely. Did he deserve to get tons of money stolen from him? Highly likely. But really? Why not just go to the press with her little sob story, instead of going to all this effort? And if you’re gonna do it, don’t pretend it’s so important when you get distracted like fifteen times from the goal by a boy. A quick, emotionless, filler read. If you want something to breeze through, here’s one for your TBR!
This was such a fun YA heist novel!!! Full of twists and an ending I didn't see coming. Ocean's Eleven meets The inheritance games in this latest from married couple Emily Wibberly and her husband that sees a teen girl plotting revenge against her rich father with a group of misfit friends. Good on audio and perfect for fans of Holly Jackson and Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I can't wait to read the next book in this new series that is now my favorite by these authors!!
I've never seen such a poorly planned heist... how df did this shit acutally work out? Like dead ahh there are so many elements the FMC should've seen coming yet didn't plan for..... like bruh bsffr how did this work?
This is AMAZING for fans of “The Inheritance Games” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, “Theives’ Gambit” by Kayvion Lewis, and the “Oceans 11” movie.
Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka have managed the genre-shift masterfully with this book! (They have only published both YA and Adult romances, but this is YA mystery). Along with romance, their specialty, “Heiress Takes All” brings readers on a ride of revenge, heists, and female rage. Wibbroka never ceases to keep me intrigued, but this book was a whole new level, with the added suspense and mystery of the genre shift!! The plot twists had me SO SHOOK!! Everything was so intricately woven together!! I’m betting they had some sort of cork board with strings thing each character and event together. I truly felt like I was watching a movie in my head while reading this! Not only was the mystery element fantastic, but they still had some juicy romance and AMAZING friendships and found family aspects. All of the side characters were so vibrant, unique, lovable, and make the most unlikely, yet perfect, group! My favorite character being Kevin, for reasons that will be obvious when you read it.
In general, they deserve much more hype on all of their books!! Truly, top-tier authors. They can do no wrong in my eyes. This book continues their perfect 5⭐️ record. Out of the 5 books of theirs I have read so far (out of 10, the rest are on my TBR) all have been no less than perfection and a complete joy.
I am so unbelievably honored to be the first person, besides their editor, to read this book!! When Emily told me that, I was SHOOK. What is my life??? How did this happen?? (However that does not mean that in any way influenced my review, I am a very critical reviewer and these were my 100% genuine thoughts). I am not worthy!! I already preordered a finished copy!! I’m so excited for the world to experience this story.

I’ve read all the books by this author duo and I honestly never thought they would write a heist book, but they pulled it off so perfectly!
Heiress Takes All was such a joy to read from beginning to end. It was full of twists and turns and I loved every second of it. The stakes were pretty high and each of the characters had something to gain/lose with the heist. I was immediately immersed in the story and anxiously waiting to see if they could pull off stealing millions of dollars.
The protagonist Olivia definitely had a Type A personality. She was smart, analytical and liked to be in control as much as possible. These are great qualities to have as the leader of a heist. But she also had insecurities and questioned whether she was deserving of love. She felt guilty for a lot of things, especially her parents’ divorce, which was something that was 100% not her fault. I loved the growth she had throughout the book. She starts to recognize her self-worth and how much of a douche her father was.
The book had a great group of supporting characters as well. I adored Jackson and his unwavering love for Olivia. The banter and yearning between them was amazing. I was definitely rooting for them. The rest of the crew was equally interesting. Tom was another one of my favorites. He was just so funny. And even Kevin, who I had a love hate relationship with at the beginning of the book (I mean how was this guy just everywhere at all times!?!), I grew to care and root for.
All in all, I adored this book and I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the mood for a thrilling YA novel!
Thank you to the authors for sending me a physical ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This one started off ROUGH. Even when the “action,” was happening, everything felt slow and uninteresting. Furthermore, I didn’t really like any of the characters, especially MC. She’s unlikable and comes across as a rich brat, despite her noble intentions and recent financial setbacks. And I don’t understand how she got her “crew” to agree to this heist. They all have pretty services level motivation of “I want money” because x reason, and I don’t know if that’s enough to risk spending the rest of your life in prison.
I would say it marginally improves by the end. Enough that I was able to sit down and read the last hundred pages or so in one sitting when I had previously been struggling to read 20 pages at a time. A lot more happens, and it feels like there are stakes, something the beginning was definitely lacking. I won’t call it exciting but it was certainly interesting. Although I was a little confused about her father’s “money trouble” until it was explained, which affected parts of the story (probably just a me issue there)
The only part I really really liked was the “plot twist.” I don’t think it was all that believable, as a lot of circumstances had to line up perfectly for the sister to get away with as much as she did. However, I think it added an extra layer to Olivia that made her more relatable and likable, which was what this book really needed: an MC that you can actually root for. And I really enjoyed how it led to the entire groups longer-term friendship.
Overall not something I’d recommend or read the sequel to, but it did have its moments.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
From page one “Heiress Takes All” menaged to grab my attention with the promise of an exciting heist, and it kept me engaged for the most part. However, the excitement began to fade as the story went on.
Olivia’s cleverness was one of the highlights of the book and I ended up liking her as a character. Her friends and teacher were a good addition to the story but I felt like they were hard to get used to, especially in the beginning. That part felt massively underdeveloped.
The relationship between Olivia and her love interest was well handled and it provided a nice balance to the plot.
Overall, this was a decent read but sadly some parts were underwhelming.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
Would’ve LOVED this book had the love interest not been so pathetic… like there’s a difference between the guy being down bad (giggling and kicking my feet) and down bad (so pathetic I’m cringing every 2 seconds)
3.5 ⭐️ This book is pretty good. I originally bought this book for the heist part, and it was pretty good. The first 100 or so pages were pretty bad, i didn’t really like it. But then the book started to pick up and it became more interesting. The heist and the friendship part was what saved this book. The “romance” I could care less for. It was mostly talking about how the FMC hated her ex yet every time she saw him she would not stop talking about how hot he was. And then he kept saying “i still love you even though we broke up” and they basically reconciled and got back together, but i just did not like that at all. Basically i don’t like anything in this book except the actual heist part and the friendship part.
