Ten years ago, I met Emma Langley for the first time and I was drawn to her immediately— two lost souls looking for people and a place to call home.
Eight years ago, we spent one single night together. But when morning came, I left with barely a word but full of regret.
In the years since, I’ve found any excuse to get her attention, searching for ways to be close to her, even if I'll never get to call her mine.
But when I bump into her on the running trail we both love, conversation flows for the first time since that night. We're easy with each other, and all I want is more, even if it means I'll have to face my own fears to get it.
I never expected to find love, but something about Emma keeps pulling me back in. When I realize we share more than just a love of running and a friend group, the feelings I’ve tried to hold back for years become stronger and stronger for the woman I ran out on eight years ago.
Can she ever forgive me, or will I stay stuck in this place, never getting to be someone’s forever?
Samantha Brinn (Sam to everyone who knows her) is an author of sweet, spicy, and swoony contemporary romance novels. A Pittsburgh girl currently living in the suburbs of NYC, Sam stole her first romance novel off of her mom’s bookshelf at age thirteen and has read pretty much nothing but romance ever since. Her Kindle is basically an extension of her hand at this point.
A lawyer by day and author by night, Sam can most often be found in bed with her laptop and writing desk late into the night, having the time of her life writing words and weaving stories and grinning at her characters’ hijinks.
Aside from being a reader and a writer, Sam is a lover of French fries, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and diet Pepsi, and much like her debut FMC, she rarely makes her coffee the same way twice. A mom of two, Sam cosplays as an organized human, but at her core, she’s mostly chaos and prefers it that way, and is loving every second of this wild indie author ride.
Did this book emotionally wreck me? yes. yes, it did. I BAWLED through like 90% of this. every emotion and experience was so vivid and raw and heartbreaking. it's the type of story that completely shatters you before making you whole again. definitely check your triggers. While this book emotionally destroyed my, the spice was also 🫦🥵. admittedly, there was one scene where I was a little grossed and was like, WHAT IS HAPPENING, but I quickly got past that. Sam's books always do the heavy topics they cover justice and I cannot wait to see how Molly's story unfolds. and after that ending, I AM HERE FOR IT thank you to wordsmith publicity for the arc ☄️
These four female protagonists are best friends (or “found family” as they regard each other) and share a law practice. They’re all strong, capable, empathetic women in their late twenties or early thirties with distinct personalities and well-established backgrounds. They basically read a little too well to be true but that’s part of my enjoyment of these novels, and we’ll get to that in a moment.
Beyond that, they’re part of a group of friends and partners most of whom appear in every novel. While I usually much prefer small cameo appearances, this different approach works brilliantly here: While Brinn’s focus is clearly on the respective protagonists, she effortlessly succeeds in adding the established couples to the mix and enhancing the overall story and atmosphere without diluting the main story.
In this novel, part of the side story is about Hallie getting married to her partner from the first novel. Perfectly in keeping with both the style and the outlook, Brinn allows her heroes to shed traditions that do not suit them. She does so without pathos or a missionary zeal, but rather in the spirit of genuine acceptance and a freely chosen togetherness built on respect and understanding. This is evident, for example, in how the clothing of Hallie's friends is handled for her wedding.
»Hallie didn’t care about the colors or anything—she just wanted us each to wear something we loved that looked like us.«
While the first two novels centred on Hallie and Julie respectively, this one is about Emma and Jeremy. Jeremy, a former hockey player, now running a charitable sports organisation, has fallen in love with Emma at least eight years before the events of this novel. Emma has pretty much felt the same about him for a similarly long time. So, what’s the problem?
»They are the best people in the world, and I didn’t feel worthy of them. I still don’t.«
First of all, Emma and Jeremy are both introverts, which immediately endeared them to me. Complicating matters, eight years ago, they had a one-night stand that ended with Jeremy fleeing and Emma in disarray over her feelings. Since then, despite seeing each other in their shared friend group all the time, they’ve hardly spoken to each other beyond a few words and “secret” moments of tender kindness that both are confused about but feel unable to address.
»Emma matches me stride for stride, and our synchronicity is soothing.«
“Anything for You” is the story of them overcoming their inhibitions and, inevitably, slowly building a relationship despite their respective challenges. Brinn writes with exceptional sensitivity and warmth about her protagonists. She has a remarkable ability to bring out the nuances of different characters and to make them come vividly to life as you read. Added to this is a deep, humane sense of humour and an unmistakably liberal-progressive outlook, which I find very appealing. These are her great strengths, which have captivated me ever since reading her first book.
»“I was twenty-two years old, Jeremy. I wasn’t a kid, and I wanted to sleep with you. Virginity is a patriarchal construct to make women ashamed of sex, and nothing we did was shameful. It’s Gloria Steinem’s world, baby, and we’re just living in it.«
Sadly, even more than 50 years (!) after she wrote it, we’re not (yet!) in Steinem’s world (which you can read more about in Steinem’s brilliant “What It Would Be Like if Women Win"). With which we come back to my earlier statement about our protagonists feeling too good to be true.
The world depicted in this novel as well as the entire series is very much Gloria Steinem’s: a world transformed by gender equality, where traditional power structures are dismantled, and women’s values shape society. Steinem describes a future in which caregiving and collaboration are prioritized, workplaces accommodate family needs, and institutions no longer uphold male dominance. Rather than simply reversing gender roles, Steinem envisioned a more balanced and humane society where individuals are free from rigid, oppressive expectations. As a man, I would love to live in Steinem’s world.
»“Ems,” I whine. “I’m telling you my biggest truths here. Can’t you just tell me what to do?” She looks unimpressed. “You told me you’re unhappy in your job. Welcome to being a person in the world. We’re so happy to have you. Take some time, Jeremy. Think about what makes you happy. What you used to love about going to work. Start there, and you’ll figure it out. You can talk to me about it whenever you want. I love hearing you talk, and I always want to help, but this isn’t a decision I can make for you.”«
I cannot think of any better utopia for all of us, regardless of gender. I am all too aware that I have contributed to inequality myself—and, regrettably, sometimes still do. But for my wife, my adult children, and all of us, I deeply wish for a world like this. I wouldn’t label myself as “woke,” as I don’t think it’s a useful self-description. Rather, I would simply like to be seen that way, and I try my best to live up to it.
Brinn’s books offer me a glimpse into such a utopian world, opening up perspectives that were largely unfamiliar in my upbringing, and only partially accessible to me as a young(er) man. The fact that I sometimes question the realism of these characters reveals just how far we still have to go. I wish—especially for my children—that I had recognised this decades ago.
»“You are enough, just the way you are. Now go. Drink. Shower. Comfortable clothes.” Jeremy doesn’t say anything else. He just follows my instructions and downs the drink in one swallow then heads to the shower. And when he disappears up the stairs, I pull out my phone and call in the troops.«
At the same time, these remarkable books also provide a brief escape from the real world. In the past, my refuge was video games; today, it is books. But it is more than mere escapism—it is a longing for a more just world for all of us, and I hope to see it realised in my lifetime. Despite the frustrating, disheartening, and infuriating setbacks, such as the recent re-election of the orange criminal and the sycophantic allegiance of his “tech-bro” enablers, I remain convinced that these are temporary relapses.
Don’t get me wrong—I’m not comparing Brinn to Steinem. However, I do admire Brinn’s ability to create a kinder, fairer world in her books. We all stand on the shoulders of giants, and I have great admiration for anyone who contributes to that vision.
Viewed in this light, the minor weaknesses in Brinn’s books regarding grammar and punctuation are easily forgiven—though, of course, a more thorough edit would be welcome.
»I stare at Emma, fascinated by all of her layers. I wonder if there will ever be a day I stop learning new things about her. I doubt it. I hope not.«
I’m citing this one last because beyond its simplicity, it reminded me of a quote by Max Frisch from his diaries:
»It is remarkable that we are least able to say what the person we love is truly like. We simply love them. This, in fact, is the essence of love—the wondrous nature of love—that it keeps us in the suspension of the living, in the willingness to follow a person through all their possible transformations. [...] Our belief that we truly know the other marks the end of love—every time. But perhaps cause and effect are different from what we are tempted to assume. It is not that our love ends because we have come to know the other; rather, the reverse is true: because our love ends, because its strength is exhausted, the person becomes ‘complete’ in our eyes. They must be. We can no longer go on! We withdraw our willingness to embrace further transformations. We deny them the essential right of all living beings—to remain unfathomable—and at the same time, we are bewildered and disappointed that our relationship no longer feels alive.«
Above all else, this is, in my humble opinion, one of the most crucial aspects of lasting relationships. For my wife and me, at least, it has been working for more than 25 years and counting. I love you, C., and am eternally grateful that we’re both open to change with each other.
I, begrudingly, had to dnf at 20% and the reasons are many and plenty.
It starts off with the MFC at 22 of age. She's still a virgin. Has had a crush on the MMC, who is 7 years her senior, for 2 years. He equally had a crush on her for a while but he comes with a LOT of baggage. His parents abandoned him. He jumped from foster house to foster house. Wasn't really loved or felt like he belonged anywhere. Started in the NHL pretty young but an injury killed his career and thus he lost all his friends, who were only pretending to love him for fame.
She's the best friend of his best friend's sister. They move in the same group of friends. One night he takes her home. They have a ONS. The next morning she's all happy and smiling and asks if she'll see him later. He freaks out. Tells her this was a one time only. Bolts out of her house and partially her life.
They both keep their little secret from their friends. She's stunned from his reaction. Is too shy to talk about what happened with him. He ignores it as if nothing happened between them. She gives him the cold shoulder. He relentlessly tries to be on her good graces for...... 8 years. YUP 8 freaking years.
He doesn't date. She barely dates. Everyone in their circle of friends know and joke that Jeremy likes Emma and Emma doesn't give Jeremy the time of day, oblivious of what went down between them.
So what I don't get and am confused and upset me as a reader:
1. Her virginity, up to 20% of the book, was never addressed by her, by him or given any importance. (It blows my mind how stupid authors are or think we readers are when there is a sex scene with a virgin female and the male is oblivious to it as if the hurdle he encounters while trying to get in or the blood afterwards whether on her, on the sheets or on his member is not indicative of it!!!) 🤯
2. The audacity of Jeremy trying to befriend her after what he did, dismissing the way he used her and dumped her and undermining the whole thing.
3. The passivity of Emma at not trying to address the issue, demand some explanation, and basically be a used doormat and then pretend infront of him and everyone else that nothing happened!
4. She's a dedicated runner, and has been since she lost her parents at the age of 8 years. She's been running for 22 years. Everyone in their circle of friends knows it except conveniently him when he suddenly runs into her one day and alas discovers that she runs just like him! 🙄
5. This would have been slightly believable or realistic if their fall out happened for 2 years, 3 years or I'll even give you 4 years. But you are telling me that for 8 years they're still pining away for each other. Trying to be cordial/friendly. Don't date. And everyone knows they like each other. I mean that is OTT ludicrous.
6. At 20% of the book, he helped her once during a bad storm (which she is terrified of) and suddenly she is willing to forgive him, start anew, and more than likes him and compares every man to that one time she had with him which should have been traumatising on its own! Ughh I just don't get it.
7. What's with everyone being so horny in this book! I felt like I was reading a Becka Mack!! 🤦♀️
And the cherry on this soury sundae is......
As I walk down the narrow hallway, the door to the ladies’ room swings open and a woman walks out. “Excuse me,” I say to her. “Is there anyone else in there?” Her gaze sweeps down my body and back up again, an appreciative gleam in her eyes. “Why do you ask? You want to go have some fun? I’d be up for that.” Her voice is low and raspy and maybe I should analyze why nothing about her stirs my interest in the slightest, but right now all I can think is that she’s standing between Emma and me, and my frustration rises. “Maybe some other time. I’m looking for a friend of mine and I think she’s in the bathroom. Did you notice anyone else in there?” She shrugs a good-natured shoulder. “Your loss....
Maybe some other time!!! Really?? Not one second ago you were distressed by thoughts of Emma. You were surprised nothing about this woman intrigued you. And instead of nipping this in the bud you give her a promise of maybe some other time.... 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ and you expect me to root for this asshole!!
Aaaaannnnnd any other man doing what this woman did would have been called a pig, sick, pervert and maybe even jumped the alarm for sexual harrasement. You see, I lose respect towards hypocrites who complain about certain actions yet are guilty of doing the same when it suits their own benefit.
And let's not forget her best friend Molly's reaction to Jeremy objectifying him and describing his behind as a hockey butt, yum.
In two words, vulgar and trashy.
I was so disappointed by this book since it's a second chance and I love me one of those but I just don't understand all these 4 and 5 star ratings! 🤷♀️
Y’all. Jeremy Wright deserves all the hugs in the world. This man has had me so curious as to what his backstory would be ever since reading Because of You. This story delivered on an emotional journey of helping Jeremy believe he is worthy of love!
Emma has always been the quiet, soft spoken friend throughout the other books. It was such a treat to see who she actually is behind that quiet exterior. She also has a really sad backstory but with Jeremy, they are both able to see how truly lucky they are in the “found family” department.
Emma and Jeremy’s chemistry was so great! Jeremy definitely has his dominant moments behind closed doors but Emma surprised me in the best way with how she took control of the spice! I think Jeremy needed it to know how much she loved him!
This whole series has been such a treat! Each book just adds to my love of these characters and this world that Samantha has created. It’s always so nice to see our favorite book couples and how they are doing!
If you love books full of mutual pining and a boy that’s just a little bit broken, go add 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮, to your TBR today!
4.5 ⭐️ Why you’ll love this book!! 💜 One Night Stand 💜 Single Guardian 💜 Age Gap 💜 (Sort of) Broken Boy 💜 Found Family 💜 They Fall Together
Samantha did not disappoint with these two!! Jeremy and Emma have remained friends after a night together 8 years ago. Even though there is still something there Jeremy keeps a health distance due to emotional baggage he carry’s around..When Emma decides to change up her life and first a little girl their friendship grows and changes .. This is a beautiful well wrote story of two amazing characters you will not be disappointed when you read this book!!
First read from the author and I am 100 percent convinced to read everything she has put out there. This book was so good - perfectly angsty and heartwarming, with one of the best found family tropes ever.
And I have brownie points to allott. A. You know how “the quiet one are the freakiest" is a microtrope? But I have always read it about men and this book has it with the FMC and trust me when I said I squealed. Emma is the introvert and quiet girl outside and the freak between the sheets inside. It was a nice change that spiced up everything so well.
The MMC having a little submissive streak with the usual hotness and charm going on was so well written.
B. The leads have a ONS and reconnect 8 years after, the MMC stays celibate all that while and the FMC doesn't. Three cheers. I am here for the girl having all the fun because I am so bored of the opposite.
And then, the story in itself - emotionally driven and grips your heart just right. The book was a pleasure to read. I couldn't keep it down. The little girl maddy, the girl gang and their bond, Rachel Parker, Ben and Jeremy 's friendship - little moments that add to the story of Emma and Jeremy and make it more beautiful.
The only thing is that it could have been edited better - too many lines repeat frequently and the smut though written well, was quite frequent and I eventually ended up skimming it.
Either way, 100 percent recommend.
Gonna go read the first two books in the series asap
If you haven’t read any of the Laws of You Series before you need to!
Anything for You is the third book in this series and while you may be able to read as a standalone once you learn about the other supporting characters in this friends group you will want to read the first two!
This is Emma and Jeremy’s story and some of the things I love about this series and this book in particular is the healing journey and the love and support shown here.
I just love how Samantha takes you through so many emotions and fall in love with the characters!
Love this book so much! Thank you Samantha for writing such a beautiful series!
This is absolutely going to be one of my favorite reads of 2025, I’m calling it now! This story & these characters were perfect in every way.
💜One night stand 💜Single guardian 💜Found family 💜Age Gap 💜They fall together 💜(Sort of) Broken boy
A stunning addition to The Laws of You series!! I don’t know how Samantha Brinn manages it, but each character in this series makes me feel so seen in different ways.
I, like all the other fans of this series, have been waiting since chapter 7 of book 1 for Emma & Jeremy’s story and this beyond exceeded my expectations!
I cried, I laughed, I blushed, and swooned ALL IN ONE CHAPTER! The found family vibes were immaculate and the healing that took place within each MC through their love for each other, Maddy, and their friend group was so beautiful to read about.
Jeremy is my perfect MMC. He was a complete cinnamon roll (except in the bedroom 👀) who showed up for the people he loves.
Emma was so sweet and reserved… until she wasn’t. Spicy Emma was my absolute favorite and I loved her fiery side and the way it made Jeremy go absolutely feral.
Also the teaser for book 4??? I am so ready.
Thank you so much to Wordsmith Publicity and Samantha Brinn for the arc of Anything For You in exchange for my honest opinion!!
Oh, this was a heart warming, heart thumping, tearjerking, feet kicking romance.
I did not know what to expect from this book, but the spice was a very welcomed surprise. My good gosh Samantha, adding in a little FMC Dom moment was impressive. Emma's confidence was incredible and submissive Jeremy was a fun read. I mean, the guy literally stayed celibate after their one night stand 8 YEARS AGO. Emma didn't - go girl. She is a real freak in the sheets and I loved it.
The foster/adoption aspect of this book was well written and it broke me, Maddy was a fantastic addition to the girl gang - for a 7 year old that is. So much growth happens in this book, it was full of so much love and adoration that my heart now feels fuller and better for reading it.
Tropes: 🎀One Night Stand 🎀Second Chance 🎀Friends to Lovers 🎀Single Guardian 🎀Found Family 🎀Age Gap 🎀(sort of) Broken Boy
I did struggle with some things. This was a very insta-lovey book, the second the tension was over that was it, he was in it for the long haul. And, the repetition in this book, there were a few Deja vu moments and I found myself skipping scenes.
I 100% recommend this book just for the romantic vibes.
♾️ ⭐️ The love I have for this book… oh my gosh, I don’t even know if I can put this review into words, but I’m going to try! First of all, I adore this entire series. I think that Sam is amazing and her writing is absolutely fantastic. From the beginning of the series I have been waiting for Emma’s story. Within the friend group Emma is definitely the quiet and introverted one, which I relate to the most. Then when it came to light that it would be Emma and Jeremy’s book… GAME OVER— could NOT wait!!
Sam did NOT disappoint. This book is incredible. My absolute favorite of the series so far. I couldn’t put it down, finished it in a day, but then was depressed that it was over.
The way that these two are truly meant for each other. They understand each other and are exactly what the other needs. The sweet unspoken acts that they do for each other are truly one of a kind. Both Emma and Jeremy have difficult pasts, which have led to trust issues and loneliness. The two of them are able to push past those feelings together and form a true and beautiful family. ♥️
This book is real, raw, emotional, beautiful, heart warming, sweet, and funny. It is truly everything and I don’t think I could love it more. 😭
Read if you enjoy: One night stand Age gap Single guardian Found family Broken boy (sort of) They fall together
Thank you so much Sam and Wordsmith for the opportunity to read this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review!
Emmmmmma. ITS ALWAYS THE QUIET ONES. WOW is she a queen at emotional intelligence and a fire alarm puller. Jeremy!!! How did I ever not realize how broken you are. Also both of their pasts WOW.
Think about this, you slept with one of the boys in your group of friends that is a hot retired hockey player that owns a bar. NO ONE knows now it is almost a decade later and the feelings never left..💜
Can't believe what they both had to overcome and now understand why the one night stand a decade ago was never going to allow them to be end game.
Also the girl gang and boy gang in this series is top notch. FOUND FAMILY, literally everywhere. I teared up at some of the parts where they truly love eachother and show no matter what happens even in all stages of life they will be there for eachother.
I believe that is all I'm going to say because I think you should go in blind like I did. But I will say I am a NOTE girlie.
Quote: "tell me something true" Scene: shower scene ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
✨mini synopsis✨ Eight years ago Jeremy and Emma spend one night together that can only be described as perfect, but when the morning comes, Jeremy runs afraid of the feelings he has for Emma. They continue to orbit in each others space due to having the same friend group, but both of them are harboring deep feelings about that night 8 years ago that neither have been brave enough to speak about. Until a running trail gives them the ease they need to carry a conversation & start up a friendship that burns hot!
my thoughts💭 Every book Sam has written is my new favorite 🤣 This one is filled with every emotion starting at the prologue that just might have you in your feels. Emma & Jeremy carry a lot of trauma in their lives, but somehow fit each other perfectly like puzzle pieces. Jeremy gives Emma comfort while Emma gives Jeremy a sense of home and safety. Emma is deeply empathetic & confident even with being the introvert of her friend group. She’s good at reading Jeremy and what he needs. Jeremy is the sweetest mmc always making sure he leaves notes for Emma! These two fall together so perfectly you will be SWOONING! These two really heal each other & while this book is full of love and emotion it is also burning up with chemistry! Sam went full send on the spice in this book & it does not disappoint! I truly loved every second of this book and seeing these two fight for the happy ending they deserve after a long time coming! 💜
Excuse me while I sit in my feelings for a moment......
Okay. I'm ready.
SAMANTHA BRINN?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! THIS WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING.
I know it's cliché, but omg, words seriously cannot express how much I LOVED this book. There isn't a single thing I would change.
First of all, I'm a sucker for a hockey boy who's a little bit broken. Jermey made me want to wrap him up in a big hug and never let go.
Then we have Emma, who is a total badass. Like seriously, can she become my new best friend? She's such an amazing friend and person and knows exactly what everyone needs. She so in tune to other people's feelings and will put her friends and family first (so thank god she has amazing friends who are there for her when she doesn't realize she needs them).
Emma and Jeremy are PERFECT for each other. He needs someone who is patient and will reassure him and she needs someone who is all about her.
And finally we have Maddy aka Little Red. The effect that Maddy had on my heart was insurmountable. She came into Emma and Jeremy's life at the perfect moment, allowing the 3 of them to become a little family. When I tell you my heart weeped for Jermey and Maddy's pasts, I mean it cracked open and bled all over the floor.
This series just keeps getting better and better and I can't wait for Molly and Gabe's story.
🌶🌶🌶.5
Tropes/themes ✨one night stand ✨age gap ✨single guardian ✨they fall together ✨introverted/intuitive FMC ✨(sort of) broken boy ✨found family
I’ve been impatiently waiting on this book since the ending of the 2nd book in this series!
We have Jeremy, a guy who grew up in and out of foster homes, but never seemed to fit in anywhere he was. He acts like he has no cares in the world, but deep down he has big feelings he can’t seem to let out.
We also have Emma, an introvert to the max (unless she’s in lawyer mode or with her friends). She’s been in love with Jeremy for a while now, but hasn’t told anyone.
They had 1 night together, but never spoke of it again. They decide to try to become friends again to see how everything goes. While doing this, Emma has the opportunity to do something she’s thought about doing for a while. Jeremy encourages her to take the leap, and this catapults their relationship into something bigger than either one thought they could have.
This book was absolutely fantastic! The love these two have for not only each other, but also for their friends, is amazing.
I love getting to continue to read about the characters in the other books, and getting to meet new characters in this one. It helps to bring the story together! I can’t wait to read Molly’s story next!
Emma and Jeremy are in the same close friend group and have been hiding that they had a one-night stand 8 years ago. It’s clear they both have had feelings for each other for a long time, and finally start to explore them. Meanwhile, Emma gets approved to foster a sweet little girl, Maddy. The parallels between Maddy and Jeremy’s childhood are undeniable. As Jeremy becomes more and more integrated in Emma and Maddy’s world, the more he realizes he can’t keep assuming everyone is going to leave him. This is as much Jeremy and Maddy’s book as it is Emma’s.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This series is just so pure and sweet and easy to read. The found family, the bad bitches, the overflowing love from the full cast of characters is just so satisfying. This book covered some heavy topics including childhood grief and abandonment, and handled them beautifully.
And woooweee this one was a spicy meatball. I was not expecting the heat coming off these pages.
Emma is the baddest bitch of them all and I adore her. She might be one of my favorite FMCs in a long time. She’s quiet but tenacious AF. She loves so fiercely and also has a secret wild side, which was so fun to read. She’s just an absolute bad ass.
This one was definitely my favorite in the series so far.
🫡 Tropes deployed: found family, ONS to lovers, it was always you, you idiots, childhood trauma
If Samantha write you bet I will read it. This series is so good. This book was perfection. The storyline, the characters and the swooning. I laughed, smiled, cried and blushed each chapter in this book.
Jeremy is my perfect MMC. He was a complete cinnamon roll with a dirty mouth. I am here for it. Who always shows up for the people he loves. One thing I wish I knew how broken you are.
Emma was so sweet and reserved. I loved watching her become a caregiver to Madison aka Maddy. But don’t let that fool you. Spicy Emma was my absolute favorite and I loved her fiery side.
Maddy, I just adore and love you. I am so happy you have found a family and home with Emma and Jeremy.
Loved Ben and Hallie get married in this book, and loved Julie mom was involved as well. The found family in this series is perfect. I just loved all the ladies, their men and families.
The teaser for Mollys book. I can’t wait to read her story.
Anything for You is an emotional love story about found family, second chances, and overcoming inner demons. This is the third book in Brinn’s Laws of You series and is a perfect balance of sweet & spicy. While this can be read as a stand alone I think it works best when you read the first two books.
I loved seeing more of the girls’ friendship dynamic. In each book, she finds a way to make the female lead vastly different yet so relatable. It’s comforting to see how close they are & we all love tuning in for a sexy breakfast story.
Samantha does a good job of covering darker topics while still maintaining an overall positive vibe. The third book was the most emotional so far in my opinion, which made it feel slow paced at times. Both Emma & Jeremy have been through so much starting at a young age. I loved seeing how they healed each other. Also, the immediate love for Maddy that everyone had was very wholesome & heartwarming.
There’s definitely plenty of spice. 3/5 🌶️ One particular scene was not for me but other than that 🤌
We got to see a bit more of Molly’s personality and a little teaser for the final book. I already love her and this only furthered my excitement for her story. Thanks a million to Samantha & Wordsmith Publicity for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
When your mouth start quivering and your eyes grow misty-you know it’s going to be good. When you relate to the characters more than any other series you’ve read - you know it’s going to be five stars. When you have feet kicking moments because the spice is spicing (I see you Chapter 29) - you know it’s going to be epic. When it’s the quietest ones that have the most to say - you feel them in your soul. I knew Emma and Jeremy’s relationship was going to wreck me in the very best ways, and it sure did. Add in Little Red and their story skyrockets to the very top of my favorites. There’s so much depth: from a one night stand to a second chance, found family, and best of all…Emma and Jeremy fall together. I just can’t say enough good things. This series, (this third book especially) will forever hold a place in my heart and be infinity stars. Thanks to the author and Wordsmith Publicity for an advanced copy. This review is my own and honest.
Book 3 in the Laws of You series focuses on Emma Langley, the quiet redhead with a heart of gold, and Jeremy Wright, Ben's best friend and former NHL player. Jeremy and Emma spent one night together eight years ago, and Jeremy freaked out and left. He has secretly pined after Emma for eight years, hoping and praying for a second chance.
Turns out Emma and Jeremy both like to run the same trail, and one day they meet up. Conversation flows easily between them for the first time in nearly a decade. Emma opens up to Jeremy that she's going on a date that evening and she's nervous because none of the girls are available in case something goes wrong. Jeremy insists that Emma call him if something happens; it does, she calls, and everything changes.
I don't want to give too much of this book away, because it's incredibly special. Emma and Jeremy were both exceptional characters, both with tragic back stories. The found family in this series is something special, and I love all these characters. I am so very sad that there is only one book left in this series. This is one of the best series I've read in a really long time, and I don't think a lot of people know about it.
Do yourself a favor and read this series. You won't be disappointed.
Samantha Brinn does no wrong! I absolutely loved this new addition to the Laws of You series! I want to be in this friend group so bad and I love seeing them grow as the series progresses.
I had been waiting for this book because you could just tell Emma and Jeremy had something going on in the previous books. And boy did they!
Just like Julie, I had Emma all wrong. Yes, she’s an empath and understands how people are feeling, but that’s only a part of her personality. I thought she was the quiet girl of the group, but wow is she fiery! And I am so here for it!
And then you have Jeremy! We knew a little about his backstory of being a professional athlete, but the way his childhood shaped him was written so well! And he’s got quite the mouth on him, too! These two together were hot!
I’ve always been a big fan of the found family trope but Sam knocked it out of the park in this one! Emma and Jeremy were taken in by the Parkers almost immediately, but then they created a little family unit of their own?! I was in tears!
This whole book was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Sam and Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC!
I say this with no regrets, the Laws of You series is THE best romance series hands down. Book one, two and three are absolutely phenomenal. The story of Emma and Jeremy had me smiling ear to ear, reapplying my mascara (tears), and had me blushing and squirming in my seat throughout the story. As a true Minnesotan would say, “Oofda!” So many perfectly crafted spicy scenes. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the words “pretty girl”. Anything For You had me hiding in closets and bathrooms just so I could read one more chapter.
I loved the story line and the characters in this book. The topic of adoption was presented very well. I can relate to this story as a girl who was taken care of by a non-blood father figure, the way Jeremy loved Maddy, made my heart so warm and grow so many inches.
I have only good things to say about book 3 of the Laws of You series - Anything for You.
What to expect: 💜One Night Stand 💜Single Guardian 💜Age Gap 💜(Sort of) Broken Boy 💜Found Family 💜They Fall Together
This was the third book of the law series, and it was kind of one of my favorite. I really love the second book, but this one both of them being broken in a way being Jeremy is this person who knows what it is like to be in the foster care system while Emma who lost both her parents Grew without a parent. And then just both of them kind of healing each other. Emma has to be this foster parent because she wanted to be a foster parent. It’s beautiful how they give Maddie all the love that they kind of wish they had while growing up both Jeremy and Emma. My favorite lines were when Emma would say tell me something true Jeremy I really love that cause it kind of just helps ground the other person when they’re spiraling in their thoughts it’s kind of like comforting. I honestly can’t wait for book 4, which is Molly story and I’m so excited.😆
The way that I do not want this book to end and just want to live in Emma and Jeremy Land is insane. and this book deserves all the stars! Literally just pluck them from the sky and hand them over.
I have been waiting for their story since I first met them in Because of You (Book 1 in the Laws of You series), chapter 7 (yes, that's the kind of impression they made).
This story has left me speechless.
Jeremy, the "broken" boy who has literally been searching for a family his entire life and has a hard time accepting that the family he has created will not quit on him like his past has shown him of others. He puts on a happy face with the hopes that his constant humor and good nature will keep everyone he loves in his life and not up and leave. This man literally broke my heart with his need to feel authentically accepted. Watching him open up to Emma, cue the waterworks.
Emma, the quiet introvert, is a totally unassuming badass with a penchant for FAFO attitude, and quite frankly, I would expect nothing less from her considering who her sire is (Samantha is all about the strong women and the men who love them). Her ability to read Jeremy like a book and understand what he needs before he has the ability to word it himself is nothing short of amazing. Having dealt with her own past trauma, Emma can understand Jeremy in a way that no one else can. But oh, Lord, the mouth on her was completely unexpected!(And I knew to expect it). The phrase "It's always the quiet ones" rings true.
The two of them together is pure perfection. I do not know what magical potion Samantha Brinn puts in her writing, but this book has all the magic. The phrase "soul recognizes soul" is never more apparent than between these two.
And while Emma and Jeremy are the focus of this novel, I would be remiss if I did not pay honorable mention to both friend groups. That they continuously show up for each other (just proving to Jeremy that they will never leave). She supports all decisions and allows their friends to come to them in their own time (Jeremy and the Guys) or on Mondays with donuts (Emma and the Ladies).
Also, Momma Rachel Parker. She deserves all the love. She is the oracle that knows and sees all and, like a true mother, supports all and accepts all and, in the right time, nudges all.
This book will leave you laughing and swooning and crying and blushing (sometimes in the same chapter). It will break your heart, and then pick up the pieces and put it back together again.
How can I put into words the love I have for a story that changed my life. A story that was every feeling I’ve ever had written down on paper. A story that will transcend time.
Anything for You is book 3 in the Laws of You series by Samantha Brinn. It follows the relationship between Emma Langley and Jeremy Wright.
Eight years ago the pair had a one night stand. It should have turned into more given that there were feelings on both sides, however past traumas got in the way.
In present time, Emma and Jeremy build a friendship on the running trail. They find it easier to open up and let the other in while they’re on the open road. When Emma takes on a huge personal endeavor, Jeremy is there every step of the way. This ultimately leads to years long feelings bubbling to the surface. Jeremy and Emma fall in love together and it is the kind of love we all dream of.
Emma is there to help Jeremy realize that he is worthy of love. That he can be more than his past. That he is every bit the man she’s knows him to be.
Jeremy is constantly showing up for Emma. He is there whenever she needs him and ensures that she knows she is loved and cherished.
The way in which these two and Maddy build a family is so incredibly beautiful. It goes to show that everyone is worthy of having a group of people to call their own—which includes the rest of our favorite crew.
I can’t thank Sam enough for giving me the character of Jeremy. Not only for his beauty, heart, and mouth (IYKYK), but for essentially giving him every internal struggle I face. It was healing in a way I never knew possible.
Oh, and also… CHAPTER 29. THANK YOU FOR CHAPTER 29.
Anything for You is my deserted island book, my never stop recommending book, my forever has my heart book.
Thank you Sam for the eARC. I will forever be in your debt.
Emma & Jeremy’s story is so good - I’m not sure what I was expecting but this is so emotionally raw, spicy, and just overall a wonderful love story that is not only about romance but family. Samantha Brinn continues to out do herself with each book & this one just takes her writing to a whole new level.
Quick Overview: After one night together 8 years ago, Jeremy & Emma have maintained a peripheral friendship. They might share heated glances but introverted Emma (except when she's in work-mode or with her friends) & weighed down with emotional baggage Jeremy have kept a comfortable distance. But when they decide to drop the past & become friends, their shared interests & Jeremy's encouragement of Emma's new life plan (fostering an adorable little girl), their newfound friendship launches into much more than they both anticipated....
This story is SO incredible. I ate it up from beginning to end. It starts with Jeremy's & Emma's secret night and we finally understand the angst built between them in the first two books. These characters are so much more complex than I expected, especially Jeremy. He's so deliciously swoony & vulnerable. I just wanted to jump into this world to give him a hug. His background fits nicely with Emma's plan to be a foster mom and the bond created tugs at the heartstrings.
Feeling that decade-long mutual pining between Emma & Jeremy & then seeing them start coming together - they are so perfect for one another. And if you love sweet with a side of spice, just wait until you reach the shower scene! Emma might start off reserved, but she shows another side of herself with Jeremy.
This book is just plain fantastic. The found family with their friend group shines & just continues to evolve this incredible world that Samantha has created. I am so excited for Molly's book and a little sad to see this series come to an end.
🛏️ One Night Stand 💖 Friends to Lovers ❤️🩹 Broken Boy 💋 Age Gap 🫶 Found Family ➶ Single Guardian 💕 They Fall Together ✌🏻 Dual POV
“You made me feel like I belonged somewhere for the first time in my life, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not filled with gratitude for you and for this life we have together”
I’m convinced that Samantha can write stories where her main characters are literally earth shattering soulmates. And that’s how I felt when I read this couple’s book. Jeremy is IT for Emma and vice versa. Jeremy pulled at my heart strings with the feelings he had and the life he has lived. Emma has this beautiful soul you would love to be friends with! I did NOT expect pull the fire alarm Emma though so that was so unexpected (you know it is always those quiet ones 🤭) I love all these girls but until I read Molly’s I can’t decide which book is my favorite.
This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Jeremy and Emma’s story. These two have both endured so much in their lives, yet they complete each other and manage to break down the walls surrounding each other’s hearts. This is a well written easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with friendships, acceptance, undeniable chemistry, challenges, engaging and relatable characters, humor, witty banter, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is my favorite in the series so far! The book is full of laughter, tears, girls nights, group texts, girl gang, tacos, m&ms, margaritas, found family, run buddies, cereal, Halloween costumes, and the sweetest mini Harry Potter fan.
Jeremy is so swoony and is there for Emma no matter what she says. Jeremy knows what Emma needs since she does not ask for it often. Jeremy faces his fears with some red headed helpers. He made me tear up numerous times throughout this book with his caring moments. My favorite moment with his involves cereal saving the day.
Emma is an empath that feels so much for everyone around her but needs someone to help her. Emma is so thoughtful and I love her obsession with m&ms. Emma opens herself up to a lot at once but it’s beautiful to read and explore.
Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy in return for an honest review of the book.
Book number three of this series has delivered once again on a sugary sweet love story with all the spice. This installment focuses on Emma and Jeremy’s story. The foster family storyline will have you in tears in between the swoony moments. Rachel continues to be the bar I set for myself as a mother. If you need a little escape and want to be immersed into a too good to be true friendship circle with extra spicy love stories then this is a great option for you.
I loved aspects of this book, but not the story as a whole. I enjoyed the foster parent arc and seeing how it tied up to Jeremy's past. I enjoyed a lot of Jeremy's plot points to be honest: career ending injury, trauma over past as doster child, abandonment issues, career reinvention... I would have loved to see those parts of him further developed, but instead, we had SO MUCH SPICE. Don't get me wrong, enjoy a good spicy encounter, but this book was littered with it, almost every other scene once it started. I didn't care for the smutty dialogue either ( I can't imagine 2 people actually talking like this while in the throes... but it could just be me). The spice just felt overdone in my view, and some of it could have been scrapped entirely in favor of greater character development. Not my favorite in this series.
