Alana Wolf has never been one to mind her own business. As a reporter, she’s always searching for the truth. But she didn’t anticipate it would lead to people wanting her dead.

He was in the wrong place at the right time.

Ty Weaver didn’t think his day could get any worse. But he knew something bad was going to happen when he saw the car racing down the street.

Unable to get the woman from the crash out of his head, Ty visits Alana in the hospital the next day. That’s when he learns that she hadn’t simply lost control of her car.

Discovering that Alana has gotten herself into a mess, Ty offers his help—she needs a bodyguard; he needs a distraction.

It should have been simple. But where the heart is concerned, it rarely is.

And often, timing is everything.

A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 is the 18th book in the Harper Security Ops series by A.K. Evans, featuring a friends to lovers romance woven into a murder mystery. Alana never expected her job as a reporter to put her life in danger, but when a high-speed chase ends in a crash, she realizes just how big this story might be. Luckily, the incident was witnessed by Ty, a member of the HSO Bodyguard Division, who was more than capable of getting her out of the car. When he couldn’t stop thinking about her, he paid her a visit in the hospital, only to find out what had actually went down. He offered his protection while she worked on her story, already noticing an undeniable pull towards this interesting woman. Having just gone through a personal situation of his own, this might be just what he needs.

I’m always happy to return for more of the HSO world, and Ty definitely did not disappoint! My heart went out to him from the beginning, and I was happy that Alana’s situation gave him something to focus on. It was obvious that they had a connection early on, but it was fun to watch a little of the tension build with the slow burn. I love the camaraderie of the men at HSO and the women who love them, and the way they tease the next one to fall.😆 They know the drama is coming, and this story had some great suspense twists! It was a blast to ride along on the interviews and try to figure out who the villain was. I’ll admit I was shocked by the ultimate twist at the end, though. Ty and Alana’s romance was full of sweet moments, protective vibes, and just enough spice. I loved the way Ty fostered Alana’s confidence in and out of the bedroom. These character-centric stories are always a hit for me, and I can’t wait for the next one!!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

#18! I can't believe we are already this far into HSO series. I have loved every one so far, and wow… this was quite an emotional roller coaster from heartbreak, tragedy, and threats to friendship turned love and HEA.

At the very beginning, Ty witnesses two shocking events. Both change his life in very different ways. Sometimes the end of one thing is simply the beginning of another. Meanwhile, Alana has found herself in danger over a case she's working on as a reporter.

Alana is fierce and isn't giving up because of a threat. Ty takes time to understand Alana's intentions with the investigation and despite the threat, never tries to talk her out of moving forward with it. THAT is the first thing that had me falling for Ty. Not every man can handle a headstrong, fierce woman the way he does and I was there for it!!

Watching these two tackle the investigation and threats together was incredible. The twists and turns kept my attention and had me on the edge of my seat guessing at what was unfolding. I never imagined it would unfold the way it did and I love being surprised with a storyline that way. Ty encouraging Alana in branching out with her career and stepping up to help get it going was so great to see. A man that supports an independent, strong woman is everything.

A slow burn romance, friends to lovers romance always gets me in my feels. The best relationships always seem to form from deep friendship and that's exactly what you'll see between Alana and Ty. Alana may have needed protection, but Ty needed Alana just as much.

The audio was phenomenal. I very much appreciate that each and every one of these books have dual female and male narrators. I feel like that really amplifies the audio experiences and makes the story come to life so much more.

I recently finished Control by A.K. Evans, and I have to say, it was a thrilling ride that kept me hooked from beginning to end. As part of the Harper Security Ops series, this book beautifully blends suspense and romance, making it a standout read.

The protagonist, Alana Wolf, really resonated with me. She’s not just another typical heroine; her determination as a reporter and her commitment to uncovering the truth make her incredibly relatable. I found myself rooting for her throughout her journey, especially as she navigated some truly dangerous situations.

One of the things I loved most about this novel was the realistic character development. Alana's flaws and strengths are portrayed authentically, and her interactions with other characters add significant depth to the story. The chemistry between Alana and the male lead is electric, creating an enticing romantic tension that kept me turning pages.

The pacing was spot-on, striking a great balance between action and character development. I appreciated how Evans crafted a thrilling plot while still allowing for moments of introspection and growth for Alana. The writing style was engaging, with vivid descriptions that pulled me right into the world of the story.

While I did notice some familiar tropes that fans of the genre might recognize, this didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment. For me, Control earns a solid 4-star rating. It’s an enjoyable mix of mystery and romance that left me eager for more from A.K. Evans. If you’re looking for a captivating read that combines suspense with heartfelt moments, I highly recommend picking this one up!

I can't believe we are at book 18 of the Harper Security Ops and with each book the storylines are just as intriguing, suspense-filled and riveting as the first one. Ms Evans never disappoints with her writing style. characters and the romance that she gives us. Even though this series is more of a suspenseful style, the romance that is woven throughout has you feeling all warm and fuzzy.
In Control, we are given Alana, a journalist who is working on the murder of a local woman, Annie, and it could be possibly related to the brutal attack of her co-worker. When she is in a car accident, she is helped by Ty, things take a bit of a turn for her. Ty is a bodyguard for Harper Security and is the sweetest and most caring man you would want to be helping you. When she decides that she wants to hire him because of an uncomfortable feeling she has about the story she is covering, things become more than bodyguard and client. The way that Ty treats her and cares for her as well as supports her with every aspect of finding out what happened, is swoon-worthy. When danger makes an appearance, Ty makes a decision that sees the two of them crossing the line from friendship lovers.
I was so engrossed with Alana and Ty's story that I lost all track of time and before I knew it I was at the end of the book. The twists that Ms. Evans threw at us,k had my mind going in a few directions as to who the person could be. The one person it was, was not who I thought it would be and the reason for Annie's murder.

Romance and a Whole Lot More

This is the 18th book in the Harper Security Ops series and while I haven't read them all, I absolutely loved Ty and Alana’s story. They had the craziest meet cute if you can even call it that, and it felt easy from there.

Ty's just been hit with some devastating news, but before he can even process it, he’s instinctively jumping into rescue mode because there’s someone right in front of him who needs help and that's what Harper Ops men do. Alana, a reporter, can't seem to take a break from a big story, even if it keeps putting her in danger. She wants to get to the bottom of a story that didn't end well for her friend and seems to be heading down the same path. Good thing Ty is specially trained for situations like this.

I really liked both of these characters. Ty was the sweetest, most thoughtful guy ever. What happened to him in the past was unimagniable with his personality. Alana was busy, but I liked that she was a go-getter, not letting anything stand in her way.

In Control, A.K. Evans gives readers a slow burn romance and much more. I loved the drama and mystery brewing in the background the entire time. Like the rest of the Ops guys, Ty deserves a good woman and Alana fit the bill! All the other guys, wives and girlfriends are present and accounted for, something I really like in this series.

I must say, this twisted in a way I did NOT anticipate. Ty and Alana had a chance encounter their first meeting, and it turned his world upside down. He couldn’t wait to make sure the mystery woman was okay, and their second meeting opened Alana’s eyes in many ways. Then their third meeting proves that they’re sort of meant to be SOMETHING to each other. I mean, she’s on the trail of a story, he’s got the means to protect her and also has the instincts to complement hers. How could they not be feted?

But the twist comes when the mystery is solved. And I do mean that. I had a few questions along the way. Nudges to my mind that something didn’t add up. But I had no clue it would end up as it did. And it manages to all come together without the worst things happening, which is quite the thrill when you figure that many other authors would throw in unneeded drama or carnage or chaos to make a point. But maybe that’s the art here. No need for the compounding of nonsense when the answers we all seek are just waiting for the right moment to emerge.

Beyond the answer hunt, the building of something great between Ty and Alana is just…comforting? It’s incredibly hot and steamy, but the comfort that comes with knowing that they’re on the path to forever amid the danger is just such a balm to soothe that I had to love their journey.

If you are new to the series, Harper Security Ops is not only a security firm, but also a tactical and self defense training center. As with other audiobooks in the series, this is a stand alone. That said, your experience would be enriched by listening /reading to all the previous stories of the series .
This story belongs to operative Ty Weaver and reporter Alana Wolf.
Ty’s day has not gone well and is trying to deal with it when he witnesses an accident. One that sends Alana to the hospital.
Determined to find out how she’s doing, Ty goes to the hospital. When he learns that the accident likely was not what it seemed, Ty offers his help as her bodyguard. It appears that the investigation that Alana digging into, has people nervous. Enough that they are willing to kill in order to keep their secrets.
From the start to the end, the story is filled with action, whodunit, and of course, romance. But the road to the discovery and the romance is not going to be a smooth one as the author delivers another “edge of your seats” plot with complex and wonderful main characters.
Bringing the story to life are narrators Troy Duran, whom we have previously enjoy listening to and Kit Swann.
Another winner in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Fun read!

Control is the 18th novel in the Harper Ops series by A.K. Evans. This novel is a standalone in the series and while some characters overlap from other books, it is not necessary to read all of the others. (Personally though, I have read all of them in order and it does enhance the story when you know all of the characters and some of the background story.)

Alana Wolf, our FMC, is a fearless reporter researching the death of a local philanthropist and the assault of her friend and coworker. She just didn't think that her search for the truth would put her life in danger.

Ty Weaver is a bodyguard who works at Harper Ops in the private security unit. Even while having a pretty bad day, he jumps into action when he witnesses a car accident, with Alana at the wheel. While attempting to distract his broken heart, Ty checks on Alana in the hospital and stumbles right into her harrowing investigation.

This novel is as well written as the rest of the series. The storyline follows Alana's investigation and we follow along as she and Ty hunt down the truth. The threat of danger is always lurking and it adds to the mystery plot. The story doesn't feel rushed but it is a fairly quick read. Well done.

Control is the 18th book in the Harper Security Series but it can be read as a stand alone. Alana is a journalist who is seeking the truth after the suspicious death of a community philanthropist and the brutal beating of a colleague who was investigating the murder. Ty is recently single after discovering his girlfriend was having a long term affair with another man. After leaving his girlfriend’s apartment and discovering her affair, he happens upon a car accident where Alana has tried to desperately escape a threat. Ty eventually offers to act as Alana’s bodyguard as she continues her investigation. By working together to get the story, their friendship grows into something more.

Alana and Ty meet under unusual circumstances which makes for an intriguing friends to lovers read. I really loved how Alana and Ty formed a friendship and respect for one another. Ty didn’t try to prevent Alana from doing what she needed to do, he only supported and was there to protect her. What is great about this paring is that they brought out the best in each other and Ty’s genuine feelings for Alana are clear in every interaction. I really enjoyed this book, it has just the right amount of romance and suspense to keep you turning the pages.

Book 18 of the Harper Ops Series by A.K. Evans

Troy Duran and Kit Swann!! I so love hearing these two working together! Kit Swann does a great job with Alana’s character. She shows the wittiness in the character through her voice and Troy, wow, Troy does each and every character justice that he narrates!

Alana is a reporter and begins looking into the attack of a coworker and the death of a community member. She receives a note telling her to stop searching or she will find herself in more trouble that her friend but this doesn’t stop her!

Ty, wanting to surprise his girlfriend with dinner gets a surprise he wasn’t expecting or wanted. When he arrived at her apartment, he finds out why she hasn’t had time for him for months now, she is cheating on him! Leaving, Ty doesn’t have time to reflect on the night because he witnesses a car wreck and goes to help.

Alana and Ty work together to get to the bottom of the assault and murder of members in the community. Ty didn’t push back on Alana from putting herself in danger, he just simply tagged along to be her bodyguard!

A.K. Evans does it again with another wonderful story!

I loved Ty and Alana's story. It's like they just kind of fell into each other and everything was simple between them.

Ty has just learned some devastating news, but he doesn't have time to dwell on it because there is someone in danger right in front of him and his natural instincts take over and he goes into rescue mode.

Alana can't seem to let go of the need to follow her mind and heart and do her job, even if it means her life could be in danger. Her heart won't let her let go of the story her friend was working on before tragedy struck her.

The Harper Security Ops series has been great! I love the characters and it seems like there are never ending stories in the series, which in my opinion is great because I love hearing about these characters. The stories are always full of danger, protective Alpha males, and strong, but troublesome women. The women seem to always have danger following them, but it helps them to find their soul mates, so it evens out in my opinion. I love the story and the series and I can't wait to read more.

Control is the 18th in the Harper Security Ops series, if you can believe it! I'm not sure how many guys we have left! This book took a bit of a departure from the previous formula, which was nice.

This book held a little different suspense and intrigue as it starts out with appears to be a traguc, but random murder. When the reporter on the case is targeted and gravely injured, our heroine, Alana, takes on the role of investigative journalist but soon realizes her own life might be at stake. She enlists Ty as her bodyguard so she can run down the real reason behind the murder of a prominent local woman and the injury to her friend.

Although I liked the story and the unique angle, this story was a slow burn with very little happening between the main couple until well over 50%. I struggled to see the chemistry between them. They felt like good friends until they were already in a relationship, but thankfully, we got some steam afterward. I like how everything came together in the end, though I did miss the other HSO guys.

OH OmG 😱 this was another fantastic story . It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was incredible intense. I was on the verge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. It was addicted. Alana and Ty the chemistry between them was electricity ⚡️. The physical attraction between them was sexual tension and spicy hot. She never that her job was going to be dangerous until she meet Ty the handsome Harper security OPs guy. Could her life be on the line or was she in some kind of danger and from whom. Who wanted to hurt Alana and what did she see or over hear in that moment. Ty was in a previous relationship that left him devastated by his ex’s girlfriend who had cheated on him. He was heartbroken but could Alana be the one who will heal his broken heart 💔.
I definitely recommend this book and you won’t regret or be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

Alana is a tenacious reporter who gets the story, and these days, she's chasing info about murder. The last reporter who was trying to get answers about that murder ended up in the hospital, and Alana quickly learns how dangerous it actually is. Ty is part of Harper Security Ops, and the first time he sees Alana, she's just been in a car wreck. He decides to go visit her in the hospital, and it leads to her hiring him as a bodyguard. These two are perfect together, as he's just what she needs, but he has to keep her safe as she goes forward into finding out what really happened. The sparks are flying between them, and when they ignite, they light the sheets up. Can he keep her safe long enough for a happily ever after? Once again this author gave me a perfect read with all the suspense bringing the twists in hot, action, heat, and a humorous supporting cast who allows me to laugh. I truly need a Harper Security Ops man of my own, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ty has seen his co-workers at Harper Security Ops get slowly paired off. He thought he might be heading towards his own happily ever after, but those plans get suddenly derailed which leads to a chance encounter with Alana. Alana is a journalist who knows how to get the story, but she may have come across the one story she should stay away from. As she digs deeper she realizes she may be in over her head and that is when she enlists the help of Ty. Together they both try to solve the missing puzzle pieces while realizing they may be perfect for each other. But if they get right to their happily ever after where would the fun in that be? This may be the 18th book in the series, but the twists, chemistry and slow burns keep coming. If you are familiar with this series you know that once one of the Harper Security Men say they are going to do something- they do it. I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one!

Control is my new favorite book in this series! Ty is an absolute dream, and Alana is outstanding! I adore Alana’s bravery, courage, determination, and strength. Ty is steadfast in his resolve, and I love that he always patiently allows Alana to think through her options and make her own choices. I found it fascinating how Alana didn’t really register the true danger behind what she was doing, and it never occurred to her that the danger was not limited to a specific set of circumstances until Ty points it out to her. The twists and turns this novel takes are fascinating, and I really enjoyed the plethora of supporting characters who each brought different levels of complexity to the overall mystery of who-dun-it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook—the characters’ emotions and thoughts, and the chemistry between the two, were so palpable and explosive I could taste it. Love, love, love and highly recommend this story!!!

Ty Weaver broke up with his cheating girlfriend and then witnesses an accident. He jumps right in to help. There's something about Alana Wolf that makes him feel protective of her. When she visits Harper Security Ops to hire a bodyguard, he does it pro bono. He's intrigued by Alana's story, but also feels compelled to help her for other reasons. Their go from strangers to friends to lovers. They worked well together, had many sweet moments, confessed their deepest secrets and desires to each other, and just made sense together. I would have thought that it was too soon after his breakup, but when you know you know, right?

Kit Swann and Troy Duran brought this beautiful couple and their story to life. Narrators have the distinct privilege of bringing characters to life with their voices and these two did not dissapoint. Kudos to this duo for an enjoyable audiobook experience.

Alana and Ty’s story!

Alana is a reporter and she is denied working on a story that she is super passionate about. Not just because the towns sweetheart has come up dead, but because a fellow reporter and friend who was looking into the death is now fighting for her own life in the hospital.

Thankfully Alana is not as stubborn as past females in this series and recognized she needed protection while pursuing the story on her own.

Ty…this poor guy has put his heart into a relationship only for it to shatter/blow up in his face. But the same night that his relationship ends is the night he also meets Alana in a completely freak accident.

Together they work together while Alana takes time off work to investigate what she wants and Ty makes her question if she will want to go back to a job where she doesn’t get a say in the stories she covers as well as solving what happened to the murder victim.

Alana may be in over her head with her latest investigation. Her reporter friend is already in hospital - will they come after her next?

When Ty sees an accident he doesn't hesitate to help, he's attracted to Alana but he's just got out of a relationship where he was cheated on so he's not in the frame of mind of finding love again. But thankfully fate steps in and puts Alana in his path once more when she decides to continue investigating but with the added caution of having a bodyguard.

Ty and Alana are so sweet together. They start off slow in the friends/flirting but once they decide to dip their toes in the romance pool, all brakes are off! Slow burn to deliciously smexy, with flirty, witty banter. An MMC who is protective but supportive, he may want to hide her way to keep her safe but he knows deep down she needs to see this through to the end.

Ty's fellow HSO colleagues are on the ball and they see the fall before Ty does! The bickering and teasing are very real-feel and as usual they drop everything to help each other out. There were some sneaky twists and I must say that the final reveal was breath-taking (and very relatable to current affairs).

Roll on book 19!

Don't miss this edgy mystery and deliciously sweet romance you should read right now! 5 stars! They met on one of Ty's worse days, but when Alana had her accident he was there to stay with her until the ambulance got there. The next day, he needed a distraction; he decided to check on Alana in the hospital. They became fast friends and she confided in him about her friend in a coma and threats on both their lives. Her life is being threatened if she doesn't stop digging into the murder of a wealthy girl that the whole community knew and adored. She gets a second warning after the accident. She then hires Ty to be her bodyguard. Thank you Andrea for another exciting Harper Security Ops story with the entire romantic feels too!

Audiobook review:

Ty and Alana were both such sweethearts and I truly enjoyed the slow build of their relationship. They formed a genuine friendship and trust in one another through him helping her with her investigation into the death of a beloved community figure, and the brutal attack of her co worker. The suspense and keep me guessing until the end was on point and I did not see the culprit being who it was. I really thought it was several different people at different points of the story and was wrong every single time.

I will forever love how hard and fast our men of HSO fall for their ladies. When they know, they know and there's no wasting a second of time.

Troy Duran and Kit Swann were an amazing duo to narrate Ty and Alana. When the narrator's make me get so engrossed in the story and characters it a win for me.

Such a great twist at the end! I was not expecting it at all!

Alana is a reporter who decided she needs to take over a story for a friend. Unfortunately, the story isn’t exactly a safe one. But Ty, a bodyguard from Harper Security, happened to be right where he needed to be to save the day. From there, he steps up to help with the story, and protect Alana along the way.

This was a great story! The ending was very unexpected, and I loved it! My guesses kept changing throughout the story on who could possibly be responsible. I love being kept on my toes and guessing like that. It makes for a killer ending! I loved the mystery aspect of this story.

Control is another fantastic addition to the Harper Security Series.

Wow, we’re already on book 18 of the Harper Security Ops series! Control by the incredibly talented A.K. Evans keeps up the same intense, slow-burn romantic suspense that has made this series such a hit from the beginning. Ms Evans consistently delivers a perfect balance of romance and suspense, keeping readers hooked every time.

In this instalment, journalist Alana stumbles upon a story she feels compelled to write, only to realize it’s far more dangerous than she anticipated. Enter Ty, a bodyguard from Harper Security, who not only vows to protect her but also sparks an undeniable chemistry. Despite having his heart broken before, Ty can’t ignore the attraction building between them. As the danger looms closer, so do their feelings, with a twist I never saw coming. Control is another unmissable read that fulfils every romantic suspense need!

This is the 18th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Ty and Alana’s story.
Alana is a reporter who is working on the murder of a local woman, and when her life is in danger, it is Ty who comes to her aid after an accident. Ty is a bodyguard, and has his suspicious about the accident, and he is determined to keep Alana safe and protected.
This is a well written slow burn story, with found family, friendships, emotions, drama, danger, suspense, intrigue, close proximity, secrets, twists, revelations, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is book eighteen in this series. They can be read as standalone books. Ty has just got some bad news and then he sees a car speeding out of control and then crashing. Alana is a local reporter. She is investigating what happened to her friend and the death of a local woman. She believes to two events are related. She learns what Ty does for a living when he comes to visit her in the hospital. When released she comes to hire him. After all her friend was attacked once she started trying to figure out what happen with the woman's death. Ty and Alana spend a lot of time together interviewing people connected to the woman. Growing closer the more time they spend together. Another Harper Security guy is finding his special woman. Will she be in less danger than some of the other woman? Alana and Ty are great together. They compliment each other well. Both are outgoing. This book was a great read. Not as action packed as some of the other books but still a good read. This one was more mystery. Great job once again A.K. Evans.

A.K. Evans does it again. Welcome back to Steel Ridge with the Harper Security Ops crew to meet Ty and Alana.

As the story begins, you’re immediately drawn in. Ty (a member of HSO bodyguard team) is met with two unexpected encounters, the second of which evolves this entire story. Alana is a journalist who is threatened and then injured trying to solve a mystery.

This slow burn story is filled with twists and turns, ends with a HEA…but it’s not without its challenges. Everyone needs a Ty and Alana in their lives. Read this 18th book of this amazing series. Thank you A.K. Evans for another amazing installation of the Harper Team!!

Ty and Alana's worst times ended up being their perfect time when they meet unexpectedly. Together they embark on an investigation and an adventure that brings excitement, action, strong feelings and danger while also teaching them more about timing and, more importantly, how we don't always know how much we have. Along the way, they develop feelings for each other, and Alana decides to take a real chance to change inspired by the topic of her investigation and supported by her new love. Ty realizes what true love and support mean. Together they solve a mystery, help heal a town and a family and create a beautiful future. Awesome story!!
