In a world descending deeper into uncertainty and darkness, concern about what the future holds continues to grow. How does Bible prophecy equip us to face the coming chaos with readiness and hope?
Understanding the Times examines what Scripture makes known about the last days and what that means for you today. Sharing insights from her 40-year journey of watching the Bible’s predictions about a final generation fall into place, author and prophecy expert Jan Markell helps you discern the signs of the end times as stated in the Bible understand prophecy and the last days in clear and practical terms live wisely and uncompromisingly in a confused culture rest in the assurance that in spite of perilous times, God’s end-times calendar is unfolding exactly as He planned Whether you are new to Bible prophecy or a longtime student, this timely message will embolden you to be salt and light in the short time we have left, filling you with wisdom for today and confidence for the future.
This book was a gift to me, and this is the first book I have read by this author. Fourteen short chapters and an easy read of only 88 pages in total. Chapter 14 starts on page 84 and is titled Uncertain times? Not at all! And I found this chapter to be words of encouragement, and it ends with Isaiah 46:9-10 and Revelation 22:7, 10, and 20. A perfect read for such a time as this.
This was a very quick but interesting read. It relates what is happening currently during our life time to the predictions and prophecies in the Bible.
While there is a lot of repeating in the book, making it somewhat longer than it could have been, much of what is repeated relates to each discussion section and topic.
With that being said, you also have to understand that each topic and discussion section is written up like a separate self contained discussion, which actually explains the repeating…
This was a pretty good read, but I would argue that you have to actually know your bible to get most out of it. One also needs to be able understand the author uses quotes from differing TYPES of Bibles (i.e. NIV, King James, NLT) and needs to be able to discern between the language styles between them and understand the different meanings in the words the versions use. (Just a word of caution for those not familiar with the differing interpretations of the different Bible versions).
This is definitely a bad thing about the use of different versions and not talking about the actual meanings of interpretations.
Anyone interested in the end times Biblical prophecy (and you should be) will enjoy this book. 14 short chapters that give you a perspective on what is happening in the world today in light of what is predicted in the Bible. Certainly, the events from October 7, 2023, should act as a wake-up call for the world and Jewish people everywhere. And the reaction from the world is mind-boggling but not if you consider what is to come in the days ahead. Our author mentions the World Economic Forum (WEF) which was an eye-opener for me. Since I believe in the Pre-tribulation rapture, I can concur on the assumptions made in this book. I don't know if we are persecuted for those beliefs as seems to be emphasized by Jan. There are other ways to interpret the tribulation period laid out in Revelations. But the church should be studying and preaching about the second coming of Jesus and what scripture does say will happen in those last days. And hope abounds in the midst of this chaotic world. I would say check out Olive Tree Ministries if you want more from this author. Might be worth your time.
Sometimes we read for literary genius and sometimes for a happy ending. Then there are books that pointedly tell the truth. That’s what we find here in Jan Markels writing. Not diminishing style or word-craft, but relishing content impact, the writer presses on with a convincing up-to-date perspective of who we are and whose we are. That draws us to the conclusion not only of the story, but the finality of our existence. Go for it if you dare.
I really appreciate Jan and her ministry, helping people to stay informed about what’s going on in the world and the times in which we live. This is a great little book that will help its readers too as it says understand the times we live in. I recommend it to everybody Christians and unbelievers, it’s not provoking and will hopefully encourage them to take things more seriously as time is getting short.
Jan and her ministry always proclaim the truth. The book talks about our evil world and the path we are on but not to scare us, only to tell us Christ Jesus is returning soon. Everything thing will be OK if you believe in Christ as Lord and Savior. The risen King of Kings.
Jan Marvell is a Las today's prophet with a strong message to the remnant, last I days church. Hang in there. Don't panic. God has it all in control. None of us like a bumpy plane ride, but God hasn't dropped anything, ever. He won't now. You are in His immense hands and safe.
Jan Marvel has a way with words I could not put the book down. If you are anxious about anything just read the bible daily and get good bible believers that preach Gods word! Amen!!
A well written perspective on the end times. This author always presents a cogent argument on world events from the outlook of view of how they relate to the Bible.
