Since waking from a coma after a serious car accident, my mind has been in a state of chaos and confusion. I recall historical events and people, yet I feel as though a crucial part of me is missing. Despite the confusion in my life, one thing is I am Olivia Villanueva, daughter of the Vampire King of Andalusia.

In six months, I am destined to marry my fiancé, Rafael. Until then, my parents have granted me permission to study at the Academia of Supernatural Beings. However, instead of finding peace and clarity there, I encounter the opposite—especially because of a devilishly handsome Werewolf named Killian, who makes me question my entire existence.

What is the truth, and what is an illusion? And what is the mystery behind the professor who disappeared without a trace after my first lecture, whom no one seems to know?

Waking up from a coma with no memory of what happened to her, Olivia doesn’t know who to trust. She has some memories of her past, but also a deep feeling that she is missing a large part of her memories. Something big has been forgotten, but what? She knows she cannot trust her parents, but she thinks she can trust her fiancé Rafael.

What she knows for certain is that she wants her freedom. When an opportunity arises that will allow her to leave the Alhambra and go to school, even if it to study something her family wants, she knows she must go.

At school she is drawn to the dangerous, but handsome werewolf, Killian. Now she has more questions than answers.

Blood Moon is SO good, and will leave you on the edge of your seat. The cliffhanger at the end will make your jaw drop, it is just that good. Melanie Gurenko is a fabulous storyteller, and leaves you wanting more!

You can find this review of Blood Moon on my blog, Heart's Content!

A big shout out and thank you to Chaotic Creatives PR and the author for providing me with a complimentary copy as part of the blog tour in exchange for an honest review!

One of my favourite experiences while reading a book is when four sentences into the first chapter, I can tell this is going to be a book that I enjoy. Those were the exact feelings I had when I started Blood Moon.

For a book that had less than three hundred pages in it, I felt Blood Moon packed a punch! I was constantly coming back to the book no matter what I was doing through the day. The writing, I would say, added a lot of strength to the book and is what keeps you with the protagonist throughout. There’s a repetitive aspect to the story which as you read, you recognise the pattern for, but are unsure of the reason for. However, the straightforward writing style that holds neither glamour nor glitter—which I thought suited the voice of the protagonist as well—carries you through those moments easily. I think the author made a great choice choosing a no-nonsense writing style for Blood Moon. Of course this also means that sometimes there are only direct statements of how the character feels for something; a deep rooted faith in a person or event that neither calls for explanation nor tries to convince you (essentially more of a telling than a showing). This paired with a certain sort of naivety in the protagonist somehow worked for me as a reader.

The characters in Blood Moon are introduced at well planned intervals. So, despite there being quite a few of them, the situation or point of the book they are introduced in ensures we’re fairly certain of who they are and what their roles are. I would not say that they’re all extremely well-fleshed out (and given that this is a smaller book, that would be a little hard to do), I felt they were rather well established. This ties back a little into the writing style as well (where there’s a lot more of telling how the character feels about someone than the showing of why they feel that way). While typically this might have been something I struggled with, there was something about the way the author has done it that did not interfere with my reading experience negatively at all! Which, yay!

The plot of the story I think was quite well dragged out, revelation wise. The protagonist goes through a confusing, shocking and harrowing journey of self-discovery through most of the book and I enjoyed walking that path with her. The unravelling of the tangled rope of mystery in this book is a real roller coaster and I was left shocked at many many points; and that’s quite unusual for me! I think the book has just begun walking the path of revealing the real plot of the story and I’m really curious as to where the author’s going to take this series! Do expect the heroine to sound a little younger (I mean she is only in college), mental and emotional voice-wise and while that didn’t bother me, I’m aware some readers struggle with that.

The pace of Blood Moon, I found to be extremely even. The first few chapters involved a lot of establishing with regard to the foundation of the protagonist’s world, situation and feelings. But despite that I wouldn’t say they were slow chapters. They were just introductory chapters that build to set a steady pace that—dare I say?—I would even call fast. Zoom zoom!

The world building in Blood Moon, much like the plot unravels slowly but surely. Paired with the storytelling, the world building is introduced as the character starts to find herself and the truth surrounding her circumstance. The world is fairly simple to understand even as the surprises are many.

Four stars! Check trigger warnings please, there are themes in this book that can be difficult for some. Happy reading!

I recently dove into *Blood Moon* by Melanie Gurenko, and let me tell you, I absolutely loved it! This enchanting tale drew me in with its mix of fantasy, romance, and a clever mystery that kept me guessing. 💖📖

The story follows Olivia Villanueva, who wakes up from a life-altering coma after a car accident, only to find her mind tangled in confusion and fragmented memories. As the daughter of the Vampire King of Andalusia, she has always had a unique destiny, but now she’s faced with the additional pressure of marrying her fiancé, Rafael, in just six months. To make sense of her new reality, Olivia is allowed to study at the Academia of Supernatural Beings—a decision that leads her down a path filled with unexpected twists.

What I loved most about Olivia's journey is her quest for identity amidst chaos. Gurenko brilliantly portrays her internal struggle, making her relatable and empathetic. As Olivia grapples with memories of historical figures and the feeling that something significant is missing from her life, readers are drawn into her emotional turmoil.

Enter Killian, the devilishly handsome Werewolf who turns Olivia's world upside down. Their chemistry is intoxicating, and he challenges everything Olivia thought she knew about herself and her place in the supernatural world. Their interactions are charged and filled with tension, making for some deliciously captivating moments.

The mystery surrounding a missing professor adds another layer of intrigue to the story. What happened to him? Why does no one seem to know? This subplot kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to uncover the truth alongside Olivia.

Gurenko’s writing is immersive, creating a vivid world that feels alive with supernatural beings and rich lore. The pacing is just right, allowing moments of reflection amid the action, and her prose flows beautifully.

Overall, Blood Moon is an enchanting read that balances elements of romance, self-discovery, and mystery seamlessly. If you’re a fan of fantasy that features strong characters and a plot that keeps you guessing, I highly recommend picking up this gem! You won’t regret it! 🌙✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I enjoyed this book so much! A short and easy read, but so much happens within these pages. I can’t wait for more in this series and was left wanting more, like yesterday! It’s been a while since I read a single POV and I fully enjoyed it. I do love being able to understand multiple characters throughout, but it was refreshing to read a book in one voice, one perspective, and one tone. Would I want this in every book, no! But it was nice to have in this book.

Olivia, our FMC, wakes up from a coma to find herself suffering from amnesia and a fractured memory. What she does remember, comes in flashes, with bits and pieces missing. This is not something that the daughter of the Vampire King really wants to be dealing with right now. Nor having to marry her fiance, Rafael, in six months. She is sent to the Academia of Supernatural Beings, to gain a better understanding of who she is and what her destiny entails.

It is here that she begins to realize who she truly is and what she is truly capable of. Being pushed by others, especially Killian, our werewolf MMC, adds tension, layers of frustration, and wanting to know why Killian pushes her so hard outside of her comfort zone. Their relationship is intoxicating and beautiful to watch unfold. I am excited to see it grow.

There are a lot of characters in this story, each important to the storyline and carrying their own weight. I hope to learn more about them all as this series unfolds. Melanie’s world building throughout the book, allows the readers to become immersed in this beautiful world our characters live in. Vivid imagery, detailed descriptions, and captivating characters kept the pages turning for me; leaving me wanting more.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Olivia has woken up from a coma and has partial amnesia, but she remembers Rafael, her fiance, whom she's arranged to marry since childhood.

She feels claustrophobic under the strict rules of her parents and longs for freedom. "Academia of supernatural beings" presents a chance for her to live a life she yearns for.

But even the new life cannot erase the emptiness she feels inside her heart. She finds herself questioning everyone's intention and feels subject to the conspiracy.

People are not how they look and present themselves and amidst the chaos, she finds herself inclined to this beautiful creature, Killian, whose intense glare she can't resist.

She was oblivious to the forthcoming war, that everyone was preparing for. Trust is on the line, betrayal is mapping the air and amidst all, a secret romance is brimming.

The writing is so meticulous, making it a grappling read, and the end was a punch in the gut, leaving you with a cliffhanger to process the drama yet to entail in this triology.

An absolute bewitching experience 🤎🤎. Thank you @melgurenko__international and @chaoticcreativeservices for the arc🎏.

First time reader of Melanie, and I am OBSESSED! The way I knew that Rafael could not be trusted the minute he was mentioned is crazy. As much as I tried to believe that he truly just wanted what was best for Olivia I just couldn’t. Trust your gut people! I loved Jose and absolutely hated his sister. I loved the mystery this book had; I enjoyed learning new things about Olivia as she learned them herself. When I tell you I was shocked in the end, believe me, I didn’t expect it to end that way, but I’m not mad at it, and it makes me very excited to see how this series goes.

I loved the usage of the amnesia trope in this book! Usually, amnesia tropes typically follow the same storyline, but this one had me on the edge of my seat once it was revealed. This was a short and sweet (slightly heartbreaking) read that kept me wanting more! The amount of action that was packed into this book made me eat it alllll up so fast and left me so empty at the end.

The characters were all well-written in my opinion and there are a handful I would want to fight (and probably lose to). Even though she was put in a “damsel in distress” situation, Olivia handled it beautifully. She’s resourceful and even though the setbacks were painful to witness she managed to fight through them. Killian, oh how my heart hurts for him. I loved how rather than rushing her memories, he uses moments from their past and her responses to gauge whether she was “his” Olivia. Although he was clearly obsessed and jealous, he wanted to take it slow.

That cliffhanger on the other hand… I NEED THE NEXT BOOK IMMEDIATELY!!!

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review :D

Olivia wakes up from a coma with no memory of how she ended up that way. She can remember parts of her past but is left with this feeling that something huge is missing from her memories and herself. One thing she does remember is her upcoming marriage to Rafael that has been arranged since she was young. It's one of her only duties as princess to a vampire king.

She longs for freedom from her overbearing and abusive parents and hopes that a marriage to Rafael will provide at least some semblance of that. In the meantime she's grateful to be granted the chance to attend the Academia of Supernatural Beings at least for a little while before the wedding.

But once she's there she finds herself questioning pretty much everything. Things like what really happened to her before, why she her body feels very disconnected from her fiancé while her brain sometimes tells her he's her world, and why she is inexplicably drawn to the dangerously handsome werewolf Killian. But also how she could have no memory of the potential war brewing and the rebellion set against her ruling family.

Olivia doesn't know who or what to trust. And the more she learns, the more she questions. She has to make some huge decisions that could change the course of everything. Be ready for some twists and turns along with a cliffhanger that will leave you shocked and craving book two. This was a great start to a new series. I'm ready for the next one now.

I received an ARC copy of this book, and enjoyed this read!!

In the beginning of this book, I wasn’t really sure if I was gonna like it, and I wasn’t really sure where it was going. The pacing felt a little off and I was a little bit confused about a few things BUT BUT BUT it turned around quickly and I couldn’t put it down.

Seeing Olivia battle to regain her true self again after being in a coma was empowering. She is such a sweet and loving character but has a strength about her that is more subtle than most FMC’s you find, and I absolutely LOVED IT!!

I loved Killian and I am so so so excited to see more from him in future books.

All in all this was a good read and really came together in the end and I can’t wait to read for of this world, I think this author really set something good up in this book and I’m excited to see it all unfold in the future!

“Bl00d Moon” is part of a trilogy that ends on an astonishing cliffhanger, for which readers need to be prepared. If vampires, werewolves, arranged marriages, amnesia, lies, and fated mates weren’t enough, Author Melanie Gurenko also integrates mystery. I enjoyed the creativity of Melanie's unique world. The story is told through Olivia attempting to clarify what actual events are and what might be dreams, having lost some of her memories due to an accident right before her arranged marriage. And she’s half a vampire, which comes with many issues.

Because of the sequencing and complexities of Olivia’s story of her memories, I found I did have to pay closer attention to the details and re-read it. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story unfolds.

As the first book in a series Blood Moon is the perfect start.

Olivia is a vampire princess, half-human, who is engaged to Rafael who is also a prince.

Liv because of an accident has lost part of her memories and the only certainty she has is that she will be married in 6 months.

On Rafael's advice she will return to study at the academy and it is here that her path crosses with that of Killian, a werewolf.

There where she should have found calm and her memories, she will find only confusion and uncertainty.

A journey to find himself and accept that sometimes fate can change us and it is important to get back up.

Liv is a unique and complex character. I loved everything about her and look forward to continuing the series to find out even more about her.

I enjoy a good paranormal romance. I especially love stories with a mystery or a twist. This story made me stop and think several times. Olivia faces so much in this story. Domineering parents with an almost prison like hold over a woman with few memories. Facing an arranged marriage to a person she was told she loves, nothing seems right. The author sets up Olivia and us dear readers on a quest to figure out the truth. Avoiding spoilers, all I can say is that if paranormal romance, forbidden romance and a nice mystery is your jam, this book is perfect for you. Be forewarned, this is a book of a series, so the mysteries are not wrapped up at the end of this book. Totally worth it.

A new author for me and I really enjoyed the story. Olivia - half vampire/half human is in a horrible accident and wakes up to confusion and missing pieces of her memories. One memory not missing is how awful her parents belittle her and dictate her every thought and move. Olivia’s fiancé Rafael is there to support her but something doesn’t feel right there either. Back at school Olivia makes two friends that don’t seem to be spies of her parents. Fragments of Olivia’s missing memories starts popping up and things start heating up fast. I was glued to the story until the last page. Great book.

I ate this up like a quart of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. I kinda forgot I signed up for this arc but it’s nice I started reading I couldn’t put it down!

There is so much mystery and secrets in this book. Olivia our FMC vampire princess has had some sort of tragic accident that has left her with memory loss. You get slow glimpses of her past but you have to piece the puzzle Together. At first I was like oh this guy isn’t too bad…But just you wait!

I’m not going to reveal too much because the hidden parts are the best! I am really looking forward to book two!

Olivia wakes up with parts of her memory missing and must figure what's real and what secrets are being kept before the marriage that her parents have arranged is set to happen.

I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It was my first book by Melanie Gurenko and it took me a bit to get interested and invested in the story. I thought the premise of the story was really interesting and once things started falling into place the pace picked up. There were still a couple things that I had questions about, so I am hoping they will get answered in the next book.

I received an advanced readers copy to review and all thoughts are my own.

Coming at you with an amazing Halloween paranormal romance, mystery book for the spooky seasons

The author did an amazing job in my mind of putting out a modern story for the paranormal genre with amazing undertones of relay one struggle with kind of having their entire life planned out for them. You always think oh well they’re royalty. Their life might be easy, but when it comes down to an arranged marriage and recovered for memory loss things are not always as they seem

This was a really easy read for me to breeze through and I think I finished this in like two days. Highly recommend perfect for the spooky season.

This book had me HOOKED from the getgo!!
"He must be a werewolf, I'm sure of it. Arrogant, smug, and never dressed for the weather."
I was shooketh by this book. This book doesn't have many reviews *I don't know why - UNDERRATED AF* but I went for it after someone suggested it in my book groups. We have an FMC who wakes up after an accident and can't remember much. She's the vampire princess and is off to school with her betrothed vampire dood. Slowly her memories start to come back and she's wrapped in a dangerous world where she's dead center in a rebellion against the most powerful of her kind. Enter Killian - the MMC who is the anti-hero bad boy. I'm always in the mood to read about rebellions and this book does it perfectly.

At the beginning i wasn’t really in the mood to read anything but as the soon as the events started to pick up , i was hooked.
i never thought id like a werewolf x vampire story i always thought werewolves were meant to be with their species and the same goes for vampires, but i really REALLY like their dynamic and relationship like OMG where is the second book already ????
i loved this book and killian im sure im going to be obsessed with you.

Waking Up to Lost Memories

This is a slow burn, complex story that ends on a cliffhanger. Olivia cannot remember everything since waking from a coma except that she is engaged to marry. After being accepted to the Academy and meeting Killian, everything she thinks she knows is questioned. This is a suspenseful and exciting read but the events at the end leave me wanting more and anticipating the next installment.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.

I need to read more Alpha books cause wow I freaking loved Liv and Kil 😍

It was a bit of a slow start for me, but after ch9 I was hooked and needed to know what would happen next. So many times it has me like "hmm something's not right here" and then more and more gets revealed and ahhhh!! I can't believe you left me on a cliffy like that cause I need to know what happens next like right now.

Also the fact that I share a name with one of the characters, ahh I love that.

I’m very grateful to have received an ARC for this book.

If you love vampire/werewolf rivalry then you might really like this book!

A few other tropes/themes:
-memory loss
-academic setting

Olivia has woken up from a coma with memory loss and she’s thrown back into a life that she knows feels off.

I loved the little snippets of memories we received throughout the story.

The reveal at the end was sooooo good and unexpected. I can’t wait for book 2!

It was slow going start for me. BUT once it picked up it really soared!! Olivia wakes up from a coma with no memory but she does retain their memory of being engaged. Her parents have set up the marriage and she must find out what secret they are keeping from her before she goes through with it. This is a new to me author, so I just don’t know if this is her writing style or what, but there was some unanswered questions that I am hoping to get answered in the continuation of this series.

It kept me wanting to come back and real more and more. I still want more lol. I loved the tropes in the book and I loved the characters too! I MISS stories like this!

Amazing!!!

I am in love with Killian and Olivia. This story Thad unexpectedly caught me off guard. Rafael is a snake and I can’t wait for him to get what he deserves. The intrigue and discovery of character has me speechless and hungry for more. I have no love for the King and Queen or Delia for that matter. I am so captivated by the spin of this story, I can’t wait to continue reading the series.

Melanie Gurenko is a new to me author and her work did not disappoint. This book definitely is a slow burn. This is a complex story with lots of moving parts which kept my attention. Olivia handles things well, especially when things start to click. You have missing memories, a fiance that really wants you to drink the blood, a mate that isn't your fiance. This book does end on a cliffhanger!

Secrets, Amnesia, & Fated Mates .... This book has the trinity needed to keep me entertained. Olivia isn't just missing memories, she's missing pieces of herself.

The pacing is perfect and that cliffhanger has me dying. I absolutely need book two.

This one started slow for me ... since Olivia has woken up from a coma she has no idea about anything but being engaged. But being admitted into the Academia but that throws even more curveballs into the equation. She meets the alluring werewolf Killian. Olivia hits a point to where she doesn't know who to trust or even believe she has more questions than answers and major decisions luming. Bring on book 2.
