The Powerpuff Girls #3

Rate this book
It’s another day in Townsville, and that means there’s another miscellaneous villain for the Powerpuff Girls to defeat. So forgettable is this new antagonist that the girls just give him a number rather than learning his name. But “Miscellaneous Villain 432” does have a name (it’s Big Bang, thanks for asking), and he’s determined to make sure that Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup will always remember it — by KO-ing all three of them in a rematch!

Will Big Bang triumph over the Titanic Trio in their do-over dustup? History suggests not, but there’s a first time for everything — and what better place to witness it than in The Powerpuff Girls #3’s “Origin Story,” a true no-holds-barred tale from Eisner Award-winning writer KELLY THOMPSON and celebrated artist MIRIANA PUGLIA, with two-fisted covers from LEONARDO ROMERO, PAULINA GANUCHEAU, KAREN S. DARBOE, NICOLETTA BALDARI, and KEN HAESER!

KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.

Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.

Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.

I lied in my issue 2 review, I will be continuing. I'm now counting down the days until the trade paperback release. Kelly Thompson nails the Powerpuff Girls' spirit in a way that feels true to the original while still exciting for new fans. Even though it's aimed at a younger audience the charm and excitement captivate readers of all ages.

This was very cute comic issue and really felt like a one-off storyline that would happen in the cartoon. Also, Bubbles’ love of animals is always adorable to see.

I am jaw-dropped over how good this series is. Thompson landed PPG's voices and story pacing as if she'd been in the TV show's writer's room.
