Finding Sage

Rate this book
In the future, some people, known as rogues, exhibit supernatural abilities. That’s not a good thing, however, because the global government hunts them down and executes them, imprisons them, or forces them to become assassins. Silas is such a rogue. He lives day by day constantly paranoid about his chances of survival. So when a wide-eyed hobo offers him a solution to his problems, a mysterious man who the U.N. seems desperate to find, he follows, not having the slightest clue what he’s just stepped into.

Alice hides a dark secret. Many rogues have come and gone in past years, but if people only knew how dark her so-called gift was, they would reject her. Attack her. Kill her. Where can she turn?

Sage is the one that connects them. The one that offers hope to them both. Little is known about him and precious few have seen him. So why is he the only one that the U.N. is afraid of?

This is a dystopian type book where the government is literally killing off everyone with any kind of special ability. Like say someone who has really good hearing, and it’s terrifying the way they do it as well. And those with these abilities just want to be left alone in hiding, or for a few, they want to fight back to get their rights. They are still people. These are the Rogues, and if caught, their death is bad. And several of these rogues have different journeys all to find Sage, which is a pen name for someone who writes in black market newspaper articles about equality for everyone! There are several main points of view. This was both the best part and the worst part of the book. LOL Let me explain that. I LOVED that I got to see all these different characters go about and see what they see and feel what they feel. They all have a different story or reason or past. It made the story so much more interesting. It was a little rough though because sometimes you didn’t know which POV you were reading about until several chapters into changing and it made it a little confusing, but not that bad, I guess I kind of like the obvious stated.

There’s a lot going on, and you get to see, when someone gets killed by the soldiers, or the way the soldiers treat them. It’s a little terrifying. And then you see others, like Silas, who has a gift and uses it, but he’s so paranoid, and always on the run, and for someone so young it’s aged him tremendously. And Alice, who wants to fight for her equality, because she shouldn’t be a fugitive. And let me just warn you that not everybody you meet lives, actually a lot of them don’t live. This is the scary part, because it makes it seem more real and emotional.

The world building is actually well done. It’s in different places and scenes and I enjoyed that. And the way the government took over, and the lies told, the things going on, it’s emotional. I would like to see a little more added to the back story of the characters though and maybe a little more into why everything happened that way. Otherwise it’s a great concept and a very good storyline. I look forward to the next in the series! 4 ROGUE PAWS!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

Finding Sage is set in a world that is desperate for equality, meaning that the UN wants to eliminate anyone who has an ability or talent, aka. Rogues. It tells the story of various rogues who are searching for Sage, who seems to be their only hope of survival. It focuses on Silas, Alice, Eli, Tariq, Salah, and Ishmael.

This was a really great story. It was such an interesting idea and it kept me hooked. The characters were likeable, for the most part, and we were able to hear about different sides of the story.

The problem was that there were too many characters in this story. I got confused a lot about who I was reading about. It became clearer but I feel like the author could've tried to organize it a little better. Sometimes, right in the middle of the page, it would switch POV without anything that told you it was shifting. But, I will say, that I really liked the different viewpoints. But the book should've either been longer or some of it should've been cut out.

Too many characters also caused for a lack in character development. I don't know the characters really at all. I get the basics, but I longed to know them more. I wanted to find out more about the pasts of Alice and Silas and Eli. I kind of get why they all are the way that they are, but that seems to be about it.

The world building was pretty well done. I felt I knew why the world was the way it was. It all had to do with brainwashing and telling lies to the people of the United Nations. I will say that there could've been more background information and a little more detail about the surroundings. Half the time I wasn't sure where they were at.

Overall, it was a really good story and I will continue on with the series. It was compelling and hard to put down. It would be better if it wasn't so confusing and if maybe there's a little more detail added. I would recommend it to anyone who likes dystopian fiction.

One word. Brilliant!!

This book was such an amazing read and an amazing adventure to go on.

A world where special people, "rouges," are hunted just because they are different, it kind of has a X-men feel to it, but it's much different and much darker then that. When you first start out the book, you get to know a few select characters You meet Alice, and you know she is a rouge who is hiding and on the run but you don't know what her power is. You also meet Silas and right away you know his ability and you can just feel his anxiety when you are reading about him and his life.

This book picks up very quickly and soon you get introduced to more characters/rouges and you get to see all of their stories intertwine into one big story. Bottom line, rouges are hunted and the government is corrupt. Things need to change, and this book is the story about how they all set to make that happen.

I will just say, The Master (totally makes me think of Doctor Who) has me thrown for a total loop. I need to know who this person is, and what their plan is. Very devious and mysterious. The ending was A LOT of things to take in, so PAY ATTENTION! I will most likely reread it just to make sure I got all the information in, but holy hannah I cannot wait for book two!!!

Amazing read, pick it up today, you will love it!!!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review (Paranormal, Fantasy, Dystopia and Romance Readers, Writers and Reviewers)

Set in a new world order, where the U.N. is the equivalent of Big Brother, eliminating all individuals with supernatural powers, aka Rogues (aptly named since it means those who do not follow the mainstream). There were many characters in this book, namely Silas Knight, who with other fellow rogues, set off on a quest to find a very mysterious and powerful rogue by the name of Sage.

Although I liked the premise of the book, I found the dialogue a bit lacking in substance, especially between certain characters. I didn't know if it was for the sake of humor, but some dialogue seemed irrelevant and off-putting: .

Also the chapters seemed too short and abrupt, with nothing really happening. There were too many characters and not enough character development, so I couldn't really connect with any one or couple characters.

All in all, it was an interesting dystopian read, and if perhaps the sequel will focus more on individual characters, I would be more inclined to continue with the series.

In a future world the UN has become an all-knowing, all-seeing organisation that rules with violence and they are persecuting and killing people with supernatural powers. Silas Knight has spent his life on the run, alone since he lost contact with his father. He meets other rogues, as they are called, and together they are on a quest to find the mysterious Sage – a freedom fighter using a blog to get his ideas out.

The idea the author has come up with is better than good (even if some readers may feel outraged that the UN has been given such a sinister role), but I am getting lost among all the new characters that keep popping up, and who, in many cases, are killed off almost as soon as they are introduced. As a consequence I found it hard to engage with the characters and the story. It is brave to keep introducing new characters to the very end, but it is difficult to pull it off and I am not sure the author has.

Despite my uneasiness about whether I am comfortable with the massive list of characters the novel is touching something that could become an absolutely great novel and I would personally like to see the next version.

Finding Sage is an amazing dystopian adventure story. Logan Judy does a fantastic job creating the characters and creating a world that is very realistic and relatable. Finding Sage is reminiscent of the popular television show, Heroes. The overall premise is the prejudice against the "rogues," or people born with unique powers. These rogues are persecuted for something they had no choice over becoming.
The story is an edge of your seat thriller and will keep you reading well past your bedtime! The characters are developed exceptionally and as a reader you find yourself hoping and praying each and everyone makes it out alive. You will also be rooting for the downfall of the novel's antagonists.
This is the first book in the Rogue Series and I can not wait to continue this adventure. We are left with an amazing cliff hanger. You just know that Judy has something clever and even more adventurous up his sleeve for the follow-up! A must read for fans of every genre from thrillers to adventure novels!

I just loved this book! Great dystopian. Loved the characters, the twists and turns, and the whole outcast of society theme. I am so looking forward to the next in the series. I did get a little confused at the end, and had to slow down and read it again, but it will all come out clearer I am sure in the next book. Good writing and a Goodread! I give it 5 stars. Clean enough for ages 13 and up, it may be hard for some to follow along. No sex and no swearing. I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Get ready for the ride of your life! This story pulls action from the beginning to the end. It is going to be one amazing series! There are lots of unexpected events, as the characters do things that surprise even themselves. It is very well written in several points of view. You will be guessing what is going to happen at every turn. If you love paranormal or dystopian books you will love this!

I loved the characters in Finding Sage. They all felt real, which is rare for a sci-fi dystopia superhero story. Of course there was the necessary action and political drama to fit right in with the rest of the superhero genre. If you like Heros or Agents of Shield, you'll love Finding Sage.
