Lying shouldn't feel this good.

Magnum

I'm not trying to steal my brother's bride. I'm protecting her like he should've done.

He left her crying on the steps of city hall, wedding dress soaked with rain, fear in her eyes.

He gave her no choice but to marry me in his place because he didn't keep his promise.

Now, I'm the one keeping her safe from the thugs threatening to kill her.

And my little brother better think twice before showing up here trying to reclaim her.

Because she's mine, and no one touches my fake wife except me.

Wren

Stood up at the altar! In a moment of desperation, I take an offer of help from a retired Navy SEAL who happens to be my fiance's older brother.

I only need him for the ceremony, but my pretend husband is hard to shake.

He says our lives depend on our ability to pull off the charade.

But will my heart survive letting him go if we succeed?

True Anchor is a steamy slow-burn, grumpy-sunshine, interracial, fake marriage military romance. It's the fourth book in the Knight Security series but can be read as a standalone. HEA guaranteed.

I'm so excited to share Wren and Mag's story with you. I had taken a break to write in another genre in 2023, but then I got this idea to do a fake marriage to my brother's girl trope for Magnum and I was obsessed. I worked on it for 10 months until it was truly compelling and believable. I added diverse leads (he's Cajun from New Orleans, and she's Chinese American raised in Los Angeles). It all worked out so well and now I get to share it with my readers.
It's free in Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/True-Anchor-Ro...
Mag was a ladies' man in the other books. He was the one who encouraged Vander to "glaze the doughnut" and he slept with a woman at the shelter when they went to get a puppy for Misha. They call him Magnum because he buys out all the condoms at the convenience store.
Well, he meets his match in Wren. He can't charm her with his eyes or intimidate her with his size.
He's forced to deal with her and her smart mouth as they find themselves in close proximity while he keeps her out of danger.
There's a helicopter at the end and Wren really comes into her own, growing from the shy girl she is in the first chapter.
Mag grows a lot too and they are perfect together!

Here's a little sneak peek from Chapter 1:
I was laughing as he walked up to me. "What the hell happened to you, man?" We hugged and I patted him on the back. I'd never seen Gavin in anything other than oversized jerseys and jeans hanging off his ass. His hair was always full afro or braided and he rarely shaved.
"A man can't look nice?"
"You look completely different."
"A good woman will do that."
He moved aside and I saw her. His woman. A petite Asian girl, dark hair pulled back, a black and white argyle sweater with a white dress shirt underneath, small string of pearls beneath the sharp points of the collar, black slacks with a crease in the front, white socks, and penny loafers.
"This is Wren." Gavin beamed, so proud of his girl. She looked barely legal, sweet and innocent, and completely not his type at all. "This is my big brother Antoinne." His smile and voice dripped with smarmy sarcasm.
"Magnum." I corrected him, but he knew what he was doing.
"Sorry. Magnum."
We'd had our fights over the years, but I was still his blood, so he'd better not be disrespecting me in front of his girl. She was clearly in over her head with a criminal like Gavin. What was her angle? What could she possibly want from him? Dude was broke and soulless.
"Sylvie and Julian coming?" I asked my brother, ignoring Wren's outstretched hand.
"No. Too short notice." He glanced down at my snub of his girl's hand and frowned at it.
He didn't invite the other siblings? Only me?
"Any of your friends coming?"
"Nope."
"Her family?"
She looked away, and he wrapped an arm over her shoulders.
"No," he said with a tone telling me to back off. Right. That meant they didn't have the approval of her parents.
"So I'm the guest of honor at your engagement party?"
He'd duped me? Pretended it was a family gathering and it was just me. I hated being duped. I hated being lied to. Everyone was a fucking liar. Was it so hard to just be honest and tell the truth?
"Wren is the guest of honor. I wanted you to meet her. Now stop being rude and say hello to her."
"Hello," I quipped and turned back to the hostess.
She'd been eagerly watching the whole exchange. Her smile faltered when she saw my scowl, but she recovered.
"Table for three," I said.
"Sure thing. Follow me." She walked out into the main dining room, swinging her hips as she headed toward the crowded center where most of the patrons were sitting.
"That one." I pointed to an empty table in the corner by a ground-level patio. Privacy with an exit if I needed it.
We took seats and the hostess left the menus. "Your server will be with you shortly." She sashayed away with her little attitude in check.
Wren reached for her napkin and opened it in a practiced way before placing it in her lap. She was fancy. High society. Again, what the hell did she want with Gavin? "You pregnant?" I asked her.
Her eyes bugged out at the same time Gavin scolded me. "Mag!"
"Is she pregnant? Tell me the truth."
"No. Alright? Now chill. I want us to be a family."
Ouch. Gavin nailed a blow right through the heart. We didn't have much, but we had each other. I always told him I was his family, his only blood brother besides Julian. He wanted to bring this girl into the Beaumont Clan, and she deserved a fair chance from me.
"Fine. What do you do, Wren?" I rested my forearms on the table and tried to relax my very tense fingers that would not uncurl.
"I work at a bakery," she said softly, head tilted slightly down, eyes barely looking at me. Very submissive.
"A bakery? Like birthday cakes and shit?" Gavin brought a sweet fancy girl who sold cookies to join our family? Our dysfunctional non-existent trashy psychotic slightly illicit family?
"More like Asian treats." She mistook my silence for confusion and continued to explain it to me. "Buns, cookies, pastries, specialty breads. Things like that." She grinned and nodded. "What do you do?"
"I blow shit up." It was true. My pants still had debris on them from the distraction discharge we'd set off during the mission earlier in the day.
Her brows drew together. "Oh, do you work for the studios?"
It took me a second to process her meaning. I'd forgotten we were so close to Hollywood and the movie industry. I knew a few team guys who worked in the movies, but I liked the real stuff. No cosplay for me.
"Mag was a Navy SEAL," Gavin blurted out loudly. "Retired before the pension kicked in for some unknown reason."
Wren's eyes blew wide and she stared at me like I was trying to rob her.
"Jesus, Gav." He knew he wasn't supposed to talk about the details of my military service. All of it was completely confidential.
He leaned toward me and used a fake quiet voice that she could totally hear. "I'm marrying her. She's gonna find out."
I looked to the ceiling. God help me get through this.
"Now, he's a private commando for hire," he said confidently to Wren.
Wren smiled and nodded, but I could see she wasn't following along.
"That's enough." I growled. My job was dangerous and extremely sensitive. He was pushing too many boundaries all at once. My fists clenched, and I was very close to punching my brother in the face at his own engagement party.

Phenomenon! Must read! And hot 🥵
Have you ever read one of Bex Dane's books? You should. Once you've read one, you'll want to read all of them. Bex grabs your attention from the very first chapter. You won't be able to put the book down. You'll be captivated by the main characters. Just like Mag and Wren did for me in this book. And talk about twists. You won't see them coming. Make sure you have plenty of padding on the edge of your seats because you'll be on it the entire time, needing to know what's going to happen next. I know I'm not giving you much on the book itself, but you'll love it, I promise. Wren and Mag steam up the windows even when they're not having s*x. That's how good this book is. Bravo Bex on another phenomenal story! I'd give it way more than five stars if I could.

Wren meets Magnum at her engagement meal to Gavin, his brother. He's invited to the wedding at the town hall. When he arrives, he finds a very bedraggled Wren in a very wet wedding dress, crying, there's no sign of Gavin. She needs to marry Gavin as she owes money to a gangster, who's been taking protection money from her, otherwise she has to marry him, Kenny. Magnum steps up and pretends to be Gavin.
Trouble is he's starting to have feelings for Wren, and she's his brother's wife.
His team get involved with looking after Wren and trying to catch Kenny.

A great read from Bex

I loved this book and was hooked from page one. Why does Wren need to get married? She was counting on Gavin, but his brother Magnum ended up coming to her rescue. Loved how he fought his feelings for her but they were really great for each other. Loved staying on edge and wondering what will happen. Loved their happy ever after too. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I recommend this book.

W.O W.

I'm so glad I took a chance to read this book. It's awesome!! I'm so excited to read the series. It's perfect. Love, excitement, revenge, faith, belief, and a protective stance from both Mag and Wren. I love the inclusion of cultures and how badass everyone is. Highly recommended.

Magnum is used to cleaning up after his younger brother. This time, however, is unlike anything that has come before.
Pretending to be his brother Gavin to save the life of innocent and naive Wren takes him way out of his comfort zone.
When Gavin goes missing and they realize they are mutually attracted it changes many things.
However, the threat from the people after Wren remains and they have to race against time to keep them as far away as possible.
The danger doesn't stop the attraction, but could it really work out or is this all a high from the adrenaline?
Follow Magnum as his elite band of brothers fight to protect one of their own.

Another good one from Bex Dane. I always enjoy her stories of high action and romance.

Looking forward to other books in this series!

I loved this book! No, it's not a genre I read or write in, but Bex's writing transcends genres. I was with the characters all the way through. The details enriched the story without slowing the pace. If you read military romance and are not a Bex Dane fan, you're missing out. This is an excellent book.

I know I'm supposed to be reading about chaste heroines, covered wagons, and sweetheart cowboys, but sometimes a girl needs a change of pace.

This is it. From start to finish, this story is a roller coaster of the best kind. You must read this book if you enjoy military romances and bad-boy-with-a-great-heart heroes. It's hot, dangerous, and intense, so leave the pearls home.

I followed this story on Bex's Patreon and it was horrible having to wait as each chapter dropped. Readers now are so lucky they can read the entire book in one sitting. I loved the diversity of the couple, their action and adventure, and, of course, those amazing love scenes. Terrific story.

True Anchor...

Knight Security book 4. The best read of the series. No spoilers. Action filled, angst ridden, extra dramatic, passionate and oh so very tingle worthy. The chemistry between these two are sizzling hot. Magnum 's story is simply fabulous.
