Artwork stupendi, ma scontato da dire.
Comprende tutti gli spread, pagine a colori, copertine, retro copertina e disegni delle alette di sovraccoperta dei volumi 1-11 (quindi occhio allo spoiler in caso si sia indietro), oltre che ad art fatte per cartoline omaggio e pubblicate da Tsukasa Abe sul suo account Twitter - tutto in formato A4 e carta lucida che rende benissimo i colori.
Se si hanno i volumi e/o segue l'artista su twitter c'è poco che non si sia già visto , ma almeno a me fa molto piacere averli in cartaceo e in questo formato più grande. A fondo volume si trova anche un breve e simpatico Q&A con Tsukasa Abe.
Nell'indice in fondo sono indicate tutte le pubblicazioni originali delle illustrazioni, così che non ci sia testo sopra o accanto all'immagine (tendono ad essere full page).

What a delightful art book, it shows the most remarkable and representative scenes that make the Frieren manga and anime awesome. It even includes some “extra” illustrations and a 20-questions interview with Abe Tsukasa. I loved this Spanish edition.

Considéré comme un Artbook sur certaines plateformes, il s’agit pourtant bel et bien d’un Artworks et les deux ouvrages sont bien différents en termes de contenus. Pour tous les artbooks que j’ai lu, il y avait aussi du texte (explicatif notamment), tandis que dans les Artworks, il n’y a vraiment que des illustrations avec, souvent, une interview à la fin. Je trouve donc dommage de mélanger les deux termes, surtout que sur l’ouvrage, il y a le bon…
C’est peut-être difficile à envisager, mais les angles utilisés pour les illustrations sont ce qui me fascine le plus dans le travail de Tsukasa Abe. Il n’est pas facile de dessiner des personnages sous différents angles, entre la perspective, les mouvements possibles, etc… Sans oublier la forme des vêtements qui peut changer tout comme le corps en lui-même (l’exemple le plus évident étant la poitrine, qui n’a pas le même dessin suivant si c’est de face ou vue de haut). Cela vaut aussi pour les décors, c’est donc très compliqué de tout combiner et de rendre la composition cohérente et Tsukasa Abe s’en sort très bien. Ses plans sont variés, tout comme les angles utilisés et c’est ce que j’apprécie aussi dans Frieren. Ajouter à cela des couleurs magnifiques et resplendissantes pour obtenir des illustrations qui en jette !
C’est un peu dommage pour les illustrations sur double page, elles prennent l’entièreté des deux pages mais du coup avec le milieu elles sont coupées. En vrai des posters rendraient super bien pour ses illustrations, elles sont vraiment magnifiques. Très colorés également, et surtout très lumineuses, comme pour montrer que Frieren est toujours heureuse de sa vie. Les premières pages en couleurs des différents tomes ne sont pas oubliées pour autant. La série étant toujours en cours, il pourrait bien y avoir encore plusieurs artworks de réalisés. Les jaquettes sont aussi évidemment présentes et tout comme les premières pages en couleurs, elles s’arrêtent au tome onze. Il y a aussi les illustrations de cartes de vœux ainsi que celles destinées exclusivement à l’Artwork. Frieren couchée et entourée de fleur est magnifique, c’est surtout pour cette illustration que je trouve la double page dommage. Autant sur les autres, la partie manquante se voit à peine, autant pour celle-ci c’est plus flagrant malheureusement.

Si les dessins sensibles et détaillés de Abe Tsukasa vous plaisent déjà, cet artbook sera un véritable bonheur! Il inclut plusieurs double-pages où se déploient les dessins sans marges blanches. Lorsqu'il y avait des pages colorées dans le manga, on les reproduit en grand. Il y a aussi des illustrations en bonus vers la fin. Puis, un court entretien avec le dessinateur (2 pages) et un index qui décrit où on a publié chacune des illustrations pour la première fois.
La qualité du papier glacé est identique à celle de la version japonaise, la jaquette qui couvre la couverture souple est également à la hauteur de ce qu'on a vu au Japon. Vraiment, on peut se lancer dans cette édition de qualité!
