If you’re looking for fireworks and breathless moments...stop right here. If you are in fact looking for a mindless little something to keep you busy, then by all means go ahead. It’s different. Thant I have to give it. And interesting enough to make me read further to see where the author is taking it. That’s about it.

I really enjoyed this second novel about the Mad Dogs, a group of gay werewolves that make up a special forces team. This book explained a lot of things from the first book but left even more new questions. So I am hoping for a third book. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I was hoping for more sex. Don't get me wrong, the action is awesome and I really debated on whether or not to give that extra star. I mean I would rather have no sex than obvious gratuitous sex but I felt this talented author could have worked in a few more sex scenes which is why I held back a star. Great book overall which makes me want to read more of her work!

This sequel to Sixth is a page-turner from the beginning, and had me on the edge of my seat. In addition to getting to know the main characters more, we also meet a very interesting new character that adds an added dimension to the story, and I can't wait to see how it plays out in the next story in the series. The characters in Deployed are not your normal werewolves, and Brenda does a great job of putting a new spin on her version.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

4.5 Stars

Back with the Mad Dogs team and Brian is now bonded with his true mate Markus which has brought up issues for the team as Markus now seems able to take on a third form. He has yet to bond with rest of his teammates but as each bond is put in place Brian and the team feel stronger. Although much happier with the fact that his sexuality has done a complete 180 his ass is very much still off limits!

Pulled from his initiation from the team early to take on their first mission as a team of six sees them being dropped off on a mission to rescue four kidnapped scientists. He has to rely on the memory banks of the other Mad Dogs for a lot of information; it’s almost like an online computer system in his head of all past missions and relevant information. One of the first things he discovers is just how old some of his team members really are, for every answer he gets he seems to have more questions.

We are introduced to many more paranormal life forms and not all of them are fighting for the good. The most intriguing one on this mission is Duke. Duke is what is known a watcher and he does exactly what his name implies. Watchers are impartial to all the fighting between paranormals but Duke seems to have a slight obsession with this Mad Dog team that he has constantly watched over the years. When he slips away with its newest member for a private chat Markus is furious but unable to stop him. I think Brenda has a lot more story to give us with Duke before we find out why he is so pulled towards Brian.

This was a real page turner and a book that I couldn’t put down until the end. The world building is quite unique where shifters are concerned and there is a lot of scope for how it can move forward. You definitely need to read book 1 before starting this one.

I received no compensation from the author for this honest review.

This was how it all came across to me:

Characters: 4
The characters' personalities came out more which was great because you got to know them as individuals and not just the "Mad Dogs." Cothern also gave us some history/backstory which was great and allowed me to want to know about the members of the unit.

Plot: 4
I love shifters, and this time, Cothern expanded on their natures, backgrounds and introduced some more of their abilities as well.

Flow: 4
Unlike the first book, the second one flowed nicely and keeping up with the storyline, characters, etc. was easy.

Believability: 4
Cothern took everything to a new level with this second book. I was still firmly rooted in the world she created for me and I cannot wait to see what other creatures - paranormal or supernatural - she introduces in the next book.

Sexual Tension: 5
The tension was scorching and with the introduction of some kinks (spanking, submission, to name a few), I was hard pressed not to go take a cold shower myself. Man, the scenes this time around were hot enough to start a forest fire and then some.

Romance: 4
Definitely more out in the open and intriguing, especially when someone is reluctant to admit their true feelings. But is not that what makes romance fun? Learning about the other person and becoming a couple? Even the jealousy moments and the small arguments were well done amongst the various couples.

Werewolves, and watchers, and men n uniform, oh my! Brenda Cothern has hit a home run with “Deployed!” She has taken male erotica and the supernatural to a whole new level. Once I started reading, I could not put it down. Literally on the edge of my seat the entire read. Brenda brings the characters to life in such a sensual and masculine way, I am convinced that she was a Leather Daddy in a prior life. Can’t wait to read what lies ahead for these Mad Dogs!

Ok so this title reads like the other half of book 1. You get a little more plot but I’m still failing to see any real purpose to the story other than to run around fight creatures and borderline gang bang... oh and maybe add a 7th ... kind of? Even the mission is so far in the background and under developed that it’s difficult to connect to the story in any way save if you’re reading for the sex Oh and the MC is getting “gayer” but fighting it still.

Again some may be into this kinda thing. It’s just not my cuppa

Proofread, proofread, proofread.

Alright story, different take on the central subject matter. Unfortunately the author hasn’t bothered to employ a professional proofreader or simply hit spell and grammar check. Too many mistakes in spelling, past and present tense, plurals and singular and just plain old misused words. Would it really be so bad to pick up a dictionary on occasion? This one has the added bonus of confusing shoes and communication issues.

4 star review by Dan

Before Brian Hays’s hazing is even over, they are called back to base and deployed to Switzerland to rescue 4 scientists that have disappeared. Brian quickly learns that werewolves aren’t the only supernatural beings on the planet!

The scientists have been captured by the Arimaspi, a race of giant one eyed, sharp toothed creatures that eat their own dead, animals, humans, or basically whatever they can get their hands on. Things don’t look good for the safety of the scientists, but the Mad Dogs team is sent in to try to rescue them.

Along the way Brian’s bond with his mate increases, and Brian also has sex with most of the other team members in order to create his bond. I really would have liked to see more details of those sessions! For example when he is off with Doc, and then comes back, H mentions Doc’s huge dick. But we got no details! Unfair Ms. Cothern, just plain unfair!

No more spoilers, but along the way on this installment, Brian meets a vampire, fights the one eyed giants and develops more and more of his werewolf abilities.

This review is for the Mad Dogs series books 1 & 2. I read a bit of 3 but by then completely lost any interest I had in the series.

These books were more like porn with a bit of a storyline to go along with them. There was way too much sex and it wasn't even good sex. I kept waiting for more of a story to come out of it thinking that the first book was just a intro to the Mad Dogs. But the second book was just as bad if not worse. There was really no reason at all to even divide the two books. I had hoped that the characters would develop some sort of a relationship but it seemed like it was just pack humping with a bit more attachment between some members more than others.

I have no idea who the author was writing these books for but they were nothing more than confusing and boring male/male erotica.

I read Sixth (the first book in this series) and loved how different it was. And that drew me into the series as a whole.

In this book we get to spend more time with the Mad Dogs and get to watch as Brian starts to grow closer to each of them. I loved how each character was expanded upon in this book and so we were able to connect with them all a little bit better.

There is of course the drama and action that happens, with the twists of Markus realizing that he now has a new third form. I also loved the inclusion of the Watcher, and I have a feeling that he is going to end up playing a very important role in this series!

The Mad Dogs are sent to retrieve some scientists that have been kidnapped. Now Brian is learning what the Mad Dogs duties are. Brian is becoming more and more a part of the unit. He is also learning how to be in touch with his wolf, but he has a lot more to learn about himself and the world he never knew existed.

Some new creatures and a group called the Watchers are introduced as Brian is integrated further into his new life. I am finding this very entertaining, and a very sexy read.

This book was very good. I was getting more information as I was reading it. B and M have new abilities developing as their mating goes along. B has one more team member to Mate with before he is completely cohesive with the unit. They also have a watcher watching them. I can not wait for the next book. Erin

The summaries for the books in this series really should be changed cuz I almost didn't read the 2nd book just cuz the summary was so confusing/annoying, luckily I decided to ignore the horrible summary and give the 2nd book a chance cuz I loved it.

I had to roll my eyes at myself as I was enjoying this different take on werewolves - taking a straight man and not only turning him into a soldier werewolf, but a gay one at that. And then I had difficulty accepting the Arimaspi! Still enjoyable.

We learn more about Markus and Brian. I love the fantastical characters of "myth and folklore". The Watcher made for an interesting twist. Another solid read.

Good addition to the series

Great story, amazing world building. A strong five star book if not for the editing problems. Too many obvious errors and typos.

A good read. It is interesting watching the story unfold. They characters are starting to fill in more. I still know little about most of the group but just like the main MC I am slowly learning.

There is actually so little story plot in the second book that I can not rate that book higher than 2 stars. Also, it's full of sex scenes so nothing changed from the first book.
