Little Critter thinks that sometimes it's easier to tell "part" of the truth instead of the "whole" truth. In this second book in the Inspired Kids line, Little Critter learns quickly that lying has consequences and that telling the truth, no matter how hard, is always the right thing to do.

Read for my toddler’s as a story time. Little Critter tells half truth and later found himself in a jam. He decided to run away but was caught by his grandpa who shed lights to him and helped him feel better about telling the whole truth.

Read from kindle unlimited.

Being a completely perfect parent, I have succeeded at teaching my children to NEVER lie.

Well, perhaps that's not the entire truth.

If you, like me, would like all the help you can get in teaching timeless values to your children, then go get a copy of Mercer Mayer's new release, "It's True". Featuring the characters we've all grown to love, children will be entertained so thoroughly they won't even realize they are absorbing important truths as well! The pictures are bright and engaging, and the story will be sure to capture the attention of the most restless youngster. My children loved finding the spider and mouse that accompany Little Critter on every page, and they listened wide-eyed as Little Critter made some poor choices to lie - and was caught in a bind as a result! I found that the story created some great discussion opportunities with my children, as we were able to talk about the consequences of lying and how easy it is to stretch the truth and get found out, something that can not only make for some embarrassing moments, but grieve God as well. I like the fact that Little Critter ends up taking responsibility for his choices, demonstrating the importance of not running away from our mistakes, but facing them head on with God's help. In my opinion, that makes this book a winner!

I continue to be pleased that Thomas Nelson has chosen to create the Inspired Kids line, and I look forward to future antics from Little Critter that will capture my children's attention while imparting life lessons along the way. 4 out of 5 stars.

A review copy was received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Good lesson, but best for those who believe in “God”

Toddlers are unlikely to understand this book, it might be above most preschoolers, as well. Best for families that promote “God”.

a story with a moral.

Children can relate to it. It demonstrates life as it is for a child. It comes to a positive conclusion.

Good concept, just not standard little critter

Good concept, just not standard little critter

I didn't like this format of having to click on the picture s to make them bigger (I am using a kindle fire). I prefer the little critter stories that are $3.40ish.... those are "regular" little critter books and it reads like a book with normal pictures. The concept of telling the truth was great, although I didn't like the part of critter running away. I don't want my kids thinking that is even an option.

Plot: Little Critter seems to enjoy telling bits of truth. That is of course until he discovers he is caught in a lie. Will he discover why it's important to tell the whole truth?

Setting: United States

Characters: Critter, Bunny, Sister, Grandpa.

Point-of view: First person.

Theme: Religious influence on morals.

Style: Fiction, no particular style.

I love the art in these.
Is telling a partial truth really lying? Little Critter finds out that it is (or at least can be), especially if you're intentionally misleading people. Grandpa is a good listener.

This story is more obviously religious.

I think it's funny how Little Critter tells sorta true things--just like a little kid would do. Good book for discussion with kids about telling the truth.

A great book for helping kids understand what it means to tell the truth. This book really hits on "kid logic" and has the adorable characters of Little Critter and his family and friends.

I love Mercer Mayer books! This one appealed to me with its teaching of the value of telling the truth. Little Critter said God wanted him to tell me truth.

not like the old ones

This is fine, but it’s really not like the older ones I grew up with. Still teaches the lesson but definitely not like the older ones.
