Scientists have created a stable, microscopic black hole in a secret underground compound, but when they lose control, the black hole spews out a cosmic maelstrom, strange dangerous creatures, and most surprisingly…a mysterious human teenage girl. Now, a depressed but brilliant psychologist must help her estranged husband and the other scientists solve the mystery and close the black hole before it consumes all of Earth.
Dare to witness a cosmic horror series that will amaze and terrify you, with hit comic creator Zack Kaplan (Kill All Immortals, Beyond Real, Mindset), fan-favorite artist Chris Shehan (The Autumnal, House of Slaughter), rising star colorist Francesco Segala (Nights, House of Slaughter) and Ringo-nominated letterer Justin Birch (Road of Bones, House of Slaughter).

This was an interesting read and had a good lesson on depression and being afraid to take steps in your life to bring yourself out of it and to start a new path in life. The illustrations were excellent. The plot, though I wish it developed a little more, was quite engaging. I believe this may end up being a series of graphic novels that I would be interested in picking up to see how the plot further develops.

When I first saw that cover I was completely mesmerized. And not only does it have amazing art, an interesting concept, and is super engaging. But it also deals with the topic of depression in a good way.
Who is this strange girl? And how is she connected to the black hole? The story starts off very strong even with little character introduction, which isn’t needed since you get to know them more as the story continues, and a dynamic that you wouldn’t expect. Each page gets more captivating as it goes on and makes it hard to put down, making you root for a couple that you’ve only known for a short amount of time.
I’ll definitely keep an eye out on future releases because I can’t wait to see how it all continues.

The first thing that caught my attention about this comic was the cover, is a true work of art. Absolutely stunning.
That said, I was expecting more from this comic. While it was a decent read and kept me engaged until the end, it left me with a feeling of dissapoinment. I don't think I fully grasped everything I read—it felt like just a glimpse of something that could have been great.
I didn’t really connect with any of the characters. There were parts of the plot I enjoyed, but I think the characters needed more development. I get that there’s limited space to do that in this format, but still, i reached the end not really caring what happened to them.
The artwork is very good. Honestly, in my opinion the visual aspect of the comic stood out a little more than the storytelling. It had a lot of potential, but I feel like it got lost trying to be too deep.
Madcave! The art and the mystery on this one is hitting. A mysterious black hole, and a sister that fell out of it with a prophecy about the end of all things to come if she don’t go back to where she’s from? Here for it. I also love the art is so good.
That weird romantic breakdown energy between two of the characters is strange. It’s a strange plot point, but I can work with it for now. It speaks to the part of me that doesn’t like romance in things unless the romance is unusual, and two characters on the brink of divorce that are forced to work together for the betterment of humanity possibly could be interesting. I’m gonna read the rest of them.
The premise has a lot of potential, but I think that there's too much going on in an attempt to establish nuance that not much ends up being created in the end. I love the idea of interweaving depression's all-consuming immobility with progressive scientific discovery, but the narrative itself is confusing and it doesn't quite come together. It's difficult to get invested in these characters right up until one moment at the very end. I am genuinely not sure where this is going to lead at all, which is surprising given that it's the introductory volume. The art style was nice with how detail oriented it could get and its use of color though. I would tune in for the next volume to see what direction the characters will be led in.
Thanks to NetGalley and Mad Cave Studios for the arc!

The art style of this graphic novel was beautiful and the concept was there. However, I felt like this wasn’t the first volume of a series, as I was reading it I felt very confused as to what was happening and had to double check that I wasn’t reading a second or third volume in a series. I felt the characters lacked development and I had no reason to root for them. Overall, the story has potential but I wish there was a tad more explanation about the black hole research they were conducting, and more information about the characters because I really had a hard time caring about what happened to them near the end.
Black holes are a mystery to humanity. What would happen if we tried to capture one? And what would happen if someone came through it?
That is exactly the situation that psychologist Dr. Joy Frank has found herself in. To make matters worse, it is her soon-to-be ex-husband that has asked for her assistance. She must psychoanalyze this strange woman that fell naked through the sky into their world. “Artemis” begs to be taken home or this world she has fallen through, will completely collapse. Dr. Joy races to save humanity from the unknown.
What a wild ride of emotions and events! Loved it from start to finish! It is worth the read!

I really enjoyed this, I love cosmic horror and the way this portrayed not only deeply terrifying cosmical aspects, but also how it intertwines with the human psyche and how our seemly banal and minuscule fears can feel enormous. I think it's the comic format and the limited time you get in the story, but I felt like it had the potential for a fully fleshed-out character exploration. It was interesting, and the art was amazing. I gave it a 3,5 stars rounded down.
I am not an avid reader of traditional comics but I was very pulled in by the premise of this one. I feel this first issue sets up the story in a quick and interesting way. I do wish it was longer but I also understand comics like this are meant to be shorter. It would be a great series to binge once more issues are out.
