Will It Be Us?

As I showered, I thought about my mama’s wedding ring in my top sock drawer under my Dan Marino magazines, the greatest QB of all time in my opinion, cannot change my mind. That ring had been passed down through generations and if there was one thing I knew, even more so than football, was that Christy Jackson loved me and I loved her more than anything and that never would change. So regardless of this game or what college I go to or if I just follow my dad’s footsteps and stay on the farm, I am going to marry Christy Nicole Jackson. And that ring was hers. So, champion, or not, after the game, I am asking her to marry me, right there where the Dallas Cowboys play on Sundays. Dad knows. He also knows despite what he says, nothing, not even football will keep me from Christy.

This was my first sports romance I have read! I was clued to this book from the beginning! There was no dull moments and kept my interest the whole time. I had to keep reading because I HAD to know what happened next!

Jack and his girlfriend Christy meet as young as sandbox days in school. They were the "It" couple and everyone knew it. Jack was the QB1 for his high school football team, until an injury happened that would not only change Jack's world upside but also Christy's.

Jack and Christy did break up after his injury, Christy had great opportunities waiting for her that Jack didn't want to hold her back.

Even as they tried to move on in their lives they still felt this pull to eachother! Which was also scary for Christy and had a hard time opening back up.

Even if they ended up finding love with someonelse or inlove and back together, would everything work out? Would there be more complications? Would someone new com in their lives to complicate things? When you have the love of you life, and loose them to someone else, are you able to get them back?

This is the roller coaster ride you get throughout this whole book! I highly recommend this book and I hop you enoy! If you see my comment and read the book please let me know what you think!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK #2

Will It Be Us? by Matthew Castle is a genuinely enjoyable story that kept me interested from beginning to end. The premise is heartfelt and engaging, and I found myself rooting for the characters as the story unfolded. It has that charming, cozy quality that makes it easy to imagine on screen, not quite a Hallmark movie yet, but definitely with the potential to become one. That said, I did feel that some parts of the story moved a bit too quickly. The relationships, while promising, didn’t have quite enough time to fully develop, leaving me wanting more depth and connection between the characters. A slower pace with richer emotional exploration would have added even more heart to the narrative.Additionally, another round of editing could really take this book from good to great. I noticed quite a few grammatical and punctuation errors that pulled me out of the story , moments where I had to stop, reread, and even mentally rewrite a sentence to make sense of it. These small distractions made the reading experience less smooth than it could have been.Overall, Will It Be Us? is a sweet, hopeful read with a lot of promise. With a bit more polish, it could easily be a 5-star story.

Will It Be Us? is a heartfelt, nostalgic romance that captures the intensity of first love and the quiet fear of standing at the edge of adulthood. Matthew Castle does an excellent job immersing the reader in a small-town world where football isn’t just a game, family expectations weigh heavy, and love feels like the one certain thing in an uncertain future.

The emotional core of the story is its strongest element. The devotion between the main characters is sincere and deeply felt, especially in moments where love clashes with ambition and legacy. Castle’s writing shines when exploring internal conflict—those private, vulnerable thoughts that make the characters feel real and relatable. The symbolism of the family ring and the looming “big game” adds weight to every decision, making the romance feel earned rather than rushed.

Raw, heartfelt, and brimming with youthful conviction, this story captures the intensity of first love and the weight of family expectations. The voice feels authentic, equal parts tender and determined drawing readers into the mind of a young man caught between the pull of legacy and the power of love. What makes it shine is its sincerity. The imagery of the wedding ring tucked away, the dream of a proposal , and the unwavering certainty in his love, all create a narrative that feels both intimate and universal. It’s a coming-of-age moment wrapped in football, family, and the kind of devotion that refuses to be shaken.

Christy be doing too much. Just far too much. Making me feel bad for a boy. Never thought I'd say that. I'm still thinking about some of her weird choices with Tommy even though she was pregnant with a whole other man's child that she KISSED the day before her OWN wedding. Like girl come on? Get with it. I was mad thinking she ran off with that baby, just to be well, Christy. I'll forgive that one oopsy until I find out what happened to her in the second book.

Once again, Matthews books have me not trusting men, they always hold on to the past, the "one who got away" stuff. Maybe they didn't "get away"... maybe they ran.

On to the next 🫶🏻

This was such a good story, I truly enjoyed it! I feel it needed some more meat to it. Sometimes I got a little confused and lost a bit. But this story was beautiful. The Love that Jack and Christy had was one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read, one we can all dream about and wish for. It leaves on a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to read the next book! I will def be reading more from this author!!

Loved this read. It was short and sweet and full of real love and emotion. The only issue I had was the sentence structure but it was easy to get past and get enveloped into the story. The ending shook me. The read was so so so worth it.

A heartwarming story of love, family, and ambition. The protagonist’s devotion to Christy and his determination to shape his own future make this a compelling read. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

This was a nice quick read. There was a lot of football talk in the beginning and I didn't understand a lot of it which is 100% my own issue. The love story was emotional and real. I found some parts to be a bit confusing and took rereading to figure it out. Otherwise it was an enjoyable read.

This was different than my normal type of books. Jack is was an up and coming quarterback for his high school team when and injury puts a stop to that, but not his dream to play football. When his world crumbles down around him he has to pick himself back up and traverse relationships.

The author's debut small town romance novel about high school sweethearts. The story of the QB1 and his girl before he gets injured under the Friday night lights. The story has twists and turns with each character that will have you finishing the story before you realize. And yes, the ending isn't what you expect.
