When sparks fly between sultry lawyer Fiona Nolan and sexy folk singer Dillon O’Dea, little do they know that they’re about to turn a long simmering family feud into an all out scorcher.
From the moment she sets eyes on Dillon, Fiona knows that she's willing to play for keeps, even if it means upsetting her family. And when she takes on a case to defend one of her family’s enemies, will Heart's Ease ever be the same idyllic escape?
Together, Dillon and Fiona fight back against one of the oldest conflicts in Heart’s Ease history, relying on the power of family and music to bring harmony back to the town.
Victoria lives on the island of Newfoundland, and is fiercely proud of her home. She can imagine no better setting for her works, and hopes that her readers will one day come to witness Newfoundland and Labrador's rustic beauty for themselves. When she's not writing, or trying to convince people to visit her home, she's busy with her day-to-day life as a mother, wife, and marketing communications specialist.
She was born in St. John's, and raised above her family's fish and chips restaurant. She has traveled and lived in other parts of Canada, but chose to make her home where her heart has long resided. Victoria has a degree in History from Memorial University of Newfoundland, with a minor in Newfoundland Studies. The only thing that stands between her and a Master's degree in History from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia is her thesis. She has a background in broadcast journalism, advertising, and marketing. She is a proud member of both the Romance Writers of America (RWA) and their affiliate chapter, Romance Writers of Atlantic Canada (RWAC).
Victoria counts herself lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly supportive family, and thanks her husband daily for his unerring faith in her, and for being a wonderful father to their infant son.
Very Enjoyable Romance **I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review**Asher Corbin is a rock star who's agreed to do a movie. His real name is Ted. Grace Nolan is a 27yr old software designer and has a passion for Jane Austin and the regency era. Grace feels there was is nothing romantic left in the 21st century, that technology has ruined it. Grace's sister Fiona gave her an invitation to a regency ball, but there was only one other person dressed in the regency style and it turned out to be Ted. Ted wanted a break from being Asher and just wanted to be Ted.I really enjoyed the interactions between Grace and Ted, especially since Grace doesn't realize Ted's other persona until much later in the book. Ted is drawn to Grace. I enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good romance.
After finishing book 2 of the Heart's Ease series I was so happy to have Book 3 on hand! I love how Barbour gives you a time frame so that you know Book 2 and 3 are happening during the same summer. Here comes Newfoundlands modern day Romeo and Juliet! Family feud's and small town drama shows its face in Heart's Ease. Fiona Nolan comes back from the Mainland to her home of St. John's and finds herself in the sea, the sound, the sights, the music and a man. You fall in love even more with the people (I can't bring myself to call them characters, they feel like so much more!!) during 'Hard as Ice'. I can't say enough about how much I love how the author gives life to her books with the true foods, dialect of the Rock. Moving onto book 4. May have to take my time with this one. I don't want to end my journey of Heart's Ease!
In book three of the Heart’s Ease series, we follow the tempestuous relationship between Fiona and Dillon, whose families have despised one another for decades. Despite the family history, there’s an inexorable pull between them that neither can ignore. The closer these two become, the greater the mountain before them rises and one wonders how on earth these two will ever end up together.
Barbour has yet again exposed us to the magic and charm of her outport romance series. Her characters are fresh and witty and the romance sizzles between Fiona and Dillon. Barbour’s writing style really appeals to me and makes this series a great page turning escape. Love it!
Fiona and Dillon are from feuding families. They have an instant attraction that their families are upset about. It just felt like something was missing and some things were not believable. They would have horrible fights then instantly make up. Family members went from rude to respectful in a flash. Things would blow up then disappear, like her cousin Cal. The story never meshed together in way that made me care about the characters.
