This wasn't too bad actually. Richard, Camille and friends are invited to The London Ivy Rooms on Christmas Eve by Lady Agnes Dunbar who suspects that something underhand is going on at the casino. Once there there is, of course, a murder. That coupled with a very public argument, someone trying to brain a woman from a mezzanine and the weather making things difficult for the police, makes for an interesting evening. I'm not sure what time everyone arrived at the venue, but all the above took place, Richard and Camille took at least three trips outside (two across town and back again), a search of the premises (leading to another body) and all was solved before midnight! Truly a Christmas miracle. Either that, or the clocks had stopped. One thing did surprise me. I always thought that being a government agent was meant to be kept secret. In fact Lady D says as much in that she admits she didn't even tell her husband. Yet here are some of (Camille's former husband) Harry's closest friends owning up to working for the Secret Service Bureau.

Solid addition to this series

Andrea Hicks delivers an action-packed, twist-filled adventure in Murder at the Christmas Casino, blending cozy mystery with espionage thriller elements. While the book maintains the charm of a cozy, the fast-paced plot is packed with code-breaking, multiple murders, and a whirlwind of location changes—all unfolding in just a few hours.

All the key characters, both main and secondary, are present and contribute their unique skills, making it feel like this is series wrap-up rather than just a new addition to the series.

That said the compressed timeline stretches believability, with so much happening in such a short span that it feels almost impossible. Still, the action and engaging character dynamics make for a fun read.

A solid 4-star story that leans more toward cozy thriller than traditional cozy mystery, but an entertaining none the less for fans of the series.

Undercover surveillance of spies in a posh casino on Christmas Eve. Only two persons were actually incognito, the rest of the investigators were known to all villains present at the crime scene.

A Twisted Tale Indeedl

Spies and grafters , card sharks and whores ....hardly sound like ingredients for a cozy Christmas tale but they are! A challenging mystery with spies and double agents will keep you guessing until the very end!
