Al defies the Immorality Act when he falls in love with a “Colored” girl at the height of Apartheid. Fleeing from duty when called to fight an unjust war, he finds refuge on the Island of Ibiza in 1976, coinciding with the death of the Dictator Francisco Franco and the eruption of the sexual revolution across Spain. Ibiza is an exotic utopia where the hippies pursue peace, the wanderers find new paths, jet-setters discover idyllic playgrounds, and the natives preserve their ancient customs. Through a serendipitous encounter with a gypsy-like goddess, Al befriends a legendary folk hero with a vision to create “Amnesia”, Ibiza’s pioneering live music club. He is involved in its inception and growth decades before it becomes just another super club in the “party capital of the world.” He lives in a primitive finca constructed in stone over a century ago. Lovers from different worlds leave footprints on his heart as they come and go through an island where everything is fleeting, free love abounds and true love can be found, even as it is sometimes carelessly cast asunder. In the end, he finds that heaven is inside and that there is no end.
