Nana: Detrás de cada puerta cerrada, oscuros secretos se enconan.

Rate this book

This short novel had me gripped from the first page. It’s a fast-paced, twisty, psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The character development was fantastic and my thoughts and theories surrounding each character changed from chapter to chapter. The ending hit me like a train - I did not see it coming in the slightest. This book is INTENSE! But definitely worth the read!

Such a great thriller book! The thrills started from the very beginning all the way until the end! The writing was excellent and the story line was super exciting and intense. There was great character development and I wanted to know what was happening with everyone! I couldn’t stop reading and needed to see what twist was going to happen next!

The first chapter had me holding my breath in suspense. As the story went on I found myself feeling the emotions of so many characters. I had some inklings about how things would evolve but wow… not what I saw coming. It got so intense, I didn’t know how it was going to go.

A great book and I highly recommend it 💜

"Nana" by C.L. Sutton is an electrifying thriller that hooks you from the first chapter and refuses to let go. From the moment you open the book, you're pulled into a world of deception and danger, where nothing is as it seems. Sutton's masterful storytelling keeps you on the edge of your seat with its many twists and turns, ensuring that you're never quite sure what will happen next.

One of the book's greatest strengths is its ability to evoke a wide range of emotions. You'll find yourself feeling sad for Jen as her life unravels, rooting for her to overcome the obstacles in her path, and yelling and screaming at the injustices she faces. Sutton's characters are so vividly drawn that you can't help but become emotionally invested in their fates, and you'll even find yourself experiencing moments of anger towards Peter and wondering what on earth is going on.

While there are a couple of clichés sprinkled throughout the story, Sutton's skillful writing and gripping plot ensure that they never detract from the overall experience. Instead, they serve to enhance the tension and keep you turning the pages until the very end. "Nana" is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers, offering a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue that will leave you breathless.

Jen and Peter move to their perfect new home in Thistlewood and are looking forward to their idyllic future. Nana lives next door, a strange eccentric old woman that Jen feels very uncomfortable around.
Peter becomes distant with Jen and she starts to feel unloved and unappreciated and suspicious of him.
The other neighbours in the village seem to be hiding secrets too.
Jen feels like she needs to escape from this place, will she succeed ??
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I found it a bit of a slow burn, although the pace picked up in places and I wanted to keep reading to see what uncovered. Quite a good plot and dark themes in places, with a few twists thrown in.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book

I really enjoyed this book it starts with a shocking scene that has you hooked right away. It’s about this little town that a newlywed couple moves into and everybody knows everybody’s drama and being from a small town it made me laugh. Then weird things start to happen to the young wife and you don’t know who you can trust. I absolutely devoured this book. I would have liked a little more suspense when it came to the plot twist but still really enjoyed it. I will definitely be adding CL Sutton to my author list.

Would definitely throw this one if the domestic, family drama category not sure if I feel like it's really a thriller. Nice storyline that keeps you invested. My only complaint would be I is that if I had the option I would have liked more of the serial killer part of the story. And more about Nana I think I felt like we only got glimpses of this part of the story. But I would definitely recommend and look forward to seeing what they write next.

This was disturbing beyond measure! At times (most times, actually) it made me feel sick in my stomach as I read it. Very few people in this story are what and who they present to be. If I I heard Peter say Jen Jen

one more time I was going to throw my kindle at the wall!!! He told her to grow up, but he was the biggest baby ever. Everything had to be his way and all about him. Narcissist!! Talk about wolves in sheep's clothing- this story was chalk full of them. It's a great story, and I never knew who was going to come out of the woodwork next. A must read thriller! I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion .

PHENOMENAL! This story was one that had me up well past my bedtime (with my eyes on fire); I had to know what would happen next. Nana is a true psychological thriller with many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. What does one do when they move to a new neighborhood in a new town? I can say one thing…be careful who you trust 😏

Overall a good, quick read and falls more into a domestic slow burn than psychological to me. Enjoyed exploring a new author and look forward to reading more of her work. I’ve already saved her other book as well. She is definitely worth checking out!

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy. I look forward to reading more! I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The main character drove me absolutely nuts. She was highly annoying and I felt highly unreliable. I struggled with her the most as her moods were so back and forth I didn’t feel connected to her or that any of her emotions were true or realistic. Her decisions and actions felt too all over the place and many very poor. She was very delusional. I’d like to have seen a more realistic progression and development of her moods. They didn’t feel like push/pull emotions, but more like she couldn’t make up her mind and had “flip switched” moods. Out of everyone, I liked her the least and couldn’t feel sorry for her especially since she kept choosing to stay and was too obsessive with Peter and having a baby. I struggled with her issues with cheating because she was ok with cheating when she was the object of attention. She was very clingy and made excuses except when she didn’t get her way, then she was just nuts. I found myself more interested in everyone else and wanting to skip over her a lot. Her attitude and thoughts were just a slog to get through and repetitive. I couldn’t even connect with her or like her by the end.

I enjoyed “hating” the bad guys in this one.
Peter. Well, he’d have been a no for me from the start. He was cringy for sure and too controlling. The author does great making him absolutely awful. And he is absolutely awful!
I did like the backgrounds for the other characters and all the secrets. It keeps you guessing who these people are in this village. There are so many sketchy people in this story with very suspicious behaviors you don’t know who to trust or who to hate the most. Really well done. Their relationships with each other are also interesting. I was expecting more involving nana and felt sorry for her even if she had some creepy behaviors.

The use of the nickname Jen-Jen was infuriating and made me want to stop reading. It felt juvenile and it didn’t fit most of the scenes where it was used. It was cringy.

The scene involving an animal was highly disturbing and too graphic for me. It created a good shock factor but it was just too much. So much detail or flashback reference could’ve been omitted and created just as good of an effect. This definitely needs to be a trigger warning for animal cruelty.

I’d have liked to see more suspense and twists or development around the serial killer, but this had some good surprises and twists to keep you interested. I definitely wanted to keep reading to find out what secrets the neighbors were hiding and who was the most sketchy. Everyone is hiding something and everyone has a past with more shade than a forest!

The writing in the beginning felt a little juvenile to me but improved a lot and lost this feel by the end. This is definitely a slow burn but not so slow it’s boring.

Definitely read the trigger warnings.
Animal cruelty, DV, cheating, alcoholism (though this is light with flashbacks), family planning concerns, elder care.

Overall this was a good read and worth checking out. It takes “what goes on behind closed doors” and “do you really know your neighbors” to a whole new level. C. L. Sutton will be an author I follow. She created a captivating setting. Definitely looking forward to reading her other one currently out. Glad I found her!

Let me start out with the positives of this book. I thought that the cover was eye-catching and immediately made me interested in the book. I felt this author had a unique writing style. She gives great depth to her characters and does a nice job of giving some backstory and developing the characters. Unfortunately, for me, this story was not what I expected. I expected a psychological type thriller that would keep me on the edge of my seat, I did not enjoy either character. I felt that Peter was the epitome of a narcissistic, controlling, disgusting human being. I did not like the female character, who I thought was needy, a doormat, and made me cringe by the lengths she was willing to go, and the lies she was willing to tell and the dishonesty portrayed by her. I didn’t see the point in the ex-wife being part of the story as I didn’t feel she gave really anything to the book or the son Max. There was a little redemption towards the end with one of the secrets, but for me personally, I just didn’t feel that it was enough to make the story enjoyable. I felt that this story was more about a bad romance and a bad relationship, than it was about a mystery or psychological thriller, which is what I was anticipating, just based off of the cover and the synopsis. I did not feel that this story had the elements necessary to be considered suspenseful, or anything in that genre. I did appreciate the fact that you could tell the author went to great links to write the story, there was no real issues as far as grammar or punctuation or misspellings, which always helps make a book very enjoyable. I thought that the authors writing style seemed well, thought out and intelligent. I just felt that with the way the book is marketed it fell short of what it actually is and I didn’t find anything redeeming about any of the characters. I also didn’t understand the title of the book given that for me, the story very little surrounded around Nana. However, this may be a book that other people very much enjoy and I definitely think that you should give it a try and come to your own conclusions.

I just finished this book and I love all the layers it had. It had a toxic relationship between a man and wife (well multiple actually), relationships between friends, father and son etc. I liked the development Jenn the FMC had. She meets her husband Peter and falls in this whirlwind romance that she thinks solved all her problems. She now has a doting husband that plucked her out of her poor financial situation who she thought loved her dearly. She thought they’d have the perfect life. The white picket fence and babies were just a facade! They move to the small town and keep running into Nana, their creepy old neighbor. Mysterious things keep happening. Murders in a small radius keep popping up, and Peter turns into a controlling nightmare.

There were many twists and turns as the mystery unfolds. I enjoyed this book and if you like thrillers you will too!

This was a good book to read on a Saturday afternoon. I will say that the characters were interesting. Peter definitely won turd of the year award. Jen grated on my nerves big time. Her character really needed some backbone when it came to Peter. Not having that connection with Max, although it’s not all her fault, but she is the grown up. The paranoia from her character was good. The investigation she did made the book good. Sara and Nana were the best characters in the book. The book tried having that intense fast pace feeling, but the drama level was at a steady line. I was looking for the high and low of excitement. The entertainment was ok.

I loved the book, my only complaint is that I wanted more - there was the domestic element, the serial killer, then I cant say anymore due to spoilers. I also wanted to know what happened in the end everything tied up apart from one sentence and that one sentence wanted me know more. This book could have been done in two parts and really indepth. It that was that good in exploring the themes that it did.

Will look out for more by this author.

This book was great! I would recommend it and I would love for another book to be done! It feels like there is more to be told of it for me. My favorite person was Nana!

It took me two days to read because I have two young kids but once I got going I just ate it up! This was such a disturbing book that I might dare say add a mental health warning for those who can’t handle it. The amount of murder and death and disturbing factors behind so many of the towns folk really drug me in and I couldn’t wait to get further into it.

The story is starting off laidback but the author does a good job of slowly drawing the reader into Jen and Peter’s life. Sets a nice background for what’s to come. Jen finding her cat dead will tug at all readers’ heartstrings and send their heart racing! What a nerve wracking scene. I expected a little more involvement with Nana during the middle part of the book, but was satisfied overall. The plot twist at the end was something I never saw coming!

I’ve been processing this book for the last few weeks. In a word - gripping. I want to give nothing away so as a reader, you go into it knowing nothing.
But go into more detail - Gripping describes how I felt reading each chapter. It had me hooked. It made me anxious. It made me outraged in certain parts - but in the very best way. The ending thankfully left me very satisfied. Thank you C.L Sutton for writing such an emotive read!

Initially, I was annoyed with the main character, but as the book progressed, I became a super fan. The twists and turns were amazing in this book. I highly recommend this one if you’re a psychological thriller lover. There may be some parts of the book that people consider triggers, but nothing that really bothered me. The ending left me with some questions, but it was still a good wrap.

I honestly don’t remember what this book was about (you can read the synopsis independently), but I remember that it was a good book with an entertaining story line and strong character development. Although this book is categorized as a psych thriller, it is more of a family drama. I did not find it thrilling at all. This was an easy read with an excellent flow and I will read this authors works again. Four stars just because it was not the genre I had expected. Thank you to BookSirens and CL Sutton for an advanced copy of Nana.

This was my first C.L. Sutton book and honestly I didn't enjoy it. For starters, I didn't think Peter was abusive,he was an ass but not abusive. Second, Greg and Erin being serial killers came completely out of left field. Third, the book should've been named jen. I don't know why it was named nana, I feel like she didn't even belong in the story. Kay did NOT do a good job watching her either.
