This cowgirl can tame any beast. Cowboys aren’t so easy…
A born caretaker, former bronc rider Beth Dawson finds purpose as the animal wrangler for the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company she started with friends. The only bur under her saddle is the know-it-all ranch manager who wants to be in control. She’s been there, done that. But when a feral dog needs to be brought to heel, she steps in, determined to save the dog and the ranch’s livestock.
Ranch manager Justin Chadwick owes the Halliday family everything, and he takes his role at the A Bar H ranch seriously. But having to deal with the beautiful optimist who views every living creature as a potential pet to nurture is almost more than he can bear. Animals are money on the hoof and must be protected so when a feral dog threatens the bred heifers representing the ranch’s future, he must put his attraction aside and go toe-to-toe with Beth.
Forced to work together, will these two find a middle ground …never mind fall in love?

I am loving this series, five young woman who start Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company they lease a ranch to bread and raise stock that is used in Rodeos, this is Beth Dawson’s story, Beth is the animal wrangler and has a heart of gold and has a special way with animals and humans so when it appears that there is a feral dog hanging around the pregnant heifers on the ranch Beth is determined to save the dog but will she lose her heart to the ranch manager in doing so?
Ranch manger Justin Chadwick loves his job and the Halliday family and gladly takes on the new role he is offered at the A Bar H Ranch, getting to know the woman who run it has been good they are strong and determined woman but then there is Beth, she is beautiful and so positive about everything and when he needs to keep the ranch’s livestock safe he will do what he has to even if it is the last thing he wants to do.
Beth ensures that she and Justin are together while minding the heifers and here they open up a bit about their past lives on the long cold night in the paddock and they also over the few days of protecting stock and organizing a bridal arch for Sammie and Alec’s wedding realise that maybe the dog is not feral after all.
This is a beautiful romance I loved seeing the interaction between the pair and seeing Beth break down some walls that Justin had built around his heart, they have such a sensual chemistry and yes I think they were meant to be together and I would highly recommend this to any romance reader who loves a moving and heartfelt romance, thank you for another fabulous installment in this series, I am looking forward to the next one.
My thanks to Tule Publishing for my digital copy to read and review.
This is a lovely tale of friends, family, and animals. Justin Chadwick is the manager of the A Bar H ranch in Last Stand, Texas. He’s dedicated to the welfare of the livestock and determined to do everything he can for the ranch and its owner. His loyalty to the Halliday family is his form of repayment for them taking him in years earlier, when he’d left home and had nowhere to go. It’s evident in everything he does.
Beth Dawson is part owner of the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company. She and her friends also lease the A Bar H from Asher Halliday. Beth cares about everyone and everything. She’s smart and determined, and she’s beautiful. Beth’s only biological family is her younger sister Abbie, who’s far away in Japan working for the Air Force. With their parents and grandparents deceased, Beth did everything she could for Abbie, but now that she’s off leading her own life, Beth has created her own family with her friends and co-workers.
I’m not exactly sure how to categorize this book. It’s not enemies-to-lovers or friends-to-lovers, it’s more like work associates-to-lovers. Beth was attracted to Justin the moment she saw him, but he didn’t seem to return her interest. After months of working together, and a friend who pushes them closer, Beth and Justin are suddenly in close proximity watching over a small herd of bred heifers, young pregnant cows, protecting them from what appears to be a feral dog. Beth isn’t convinced that the dog is a danger, and she’ll do everything within her power to protect the dog. The two clash over this, but they’re forced even closer when they are compelled to work together to build a wedding arch for Beth’s very pregnant friend, Sammie.
I enjoyed this book very much. I did have a bit of trouble buying into Beth’s ceaseless kindness and compassion. She is so kindhearted that she should put in for sainthood. I loved Justin. His self-recrimination fit perfectly with his actions and character.
The writing in this book was very good albeit a bit repetitive. The story unfolds at a nice pace, and there are a few surprises in store for the reader. All in all, a nice read.
If you enjoy books about friends, family, atonement and sacrifice, animals, and love, then this is likely a great read for you. This is the third book in the Grit and Grace series, but the first I’ve read. It worked very well as a standalone.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher, Tule. I thank all involved for their generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
The Cowboy’s Undoing is the third book in the Grit and Grace series by Leah Vale. It is a wonderful addition to this enjoyable series. This book features Beth Dawson and Justin Chadwick. Beth is a former bronc rider and along with her partners in the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company have rented the Halliday A Bar H ranch near Last Stand, Texas from the owner. Justin is the ranch manager hired by the ranch’s owner. He is also there to help out the women renting the ranch. There have been some attacks on the ranch and the women and Justin and the other ranchers are constantly on alert. It is suspected that someone in Last Chance is not happy with a female livestock company.
Beth is a nurturer who helps with the animals as well as providing support for her partners. When it appears there is an animal threatening their pregnant longhorns, Justin wants to hunt and shoot it. Beth discovers it is a large dog and disagrees with Justin. She believes she can work with the dog and also save the cows. She believes it may have been a pet that was abandoned. Justin was hired by the Halliday family many years ago and he believes he owes them his loyalty to protect their interests.
The two are tasked to work together on an upcoming wedding for one of the partners. They are to build a wedding arch. They both have a plan in mind to also deal with the dog. Beth decides to camp out to watch over the cows and look for the dog. Justin decides to join her. Both have past tragedies and share their stories with the other. They hadn’t shared this with anyone else before. It explains the reasons behind the way they act. Each realizes they are attracted to the other but can’t act on it for various reasons. The pair are scared by the sight of coyotes near the herd and the dog, now named Buddy comes to the rescue. They realize it isn’t the dog threatening their cows after all. As the two spend more time working together their feelings intensify. They try to hide it from the others on the ranch. There’s a lot of angst, suspense as to who’s committing the acts against the women and the ranch, and romance.
This is an excellent book. It is well written and very heartwarming. Beth and Justin make a wonderful couple. I enjoy seeing the interactions between the women and also between them and their significant others. It is fun to see the relationships continue from the prior books. This is a five star book I highly recommend.
I was fortunate to receive this ARC from Tule Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
The Cowboy’s Undoing is the third title in the Grit and Grace series, this time featuring Beth and Justin as an animal whisperer and the ranch manager lock heads… and maybe hearts with a happy future ahead if they can just get out of their own way.
Justin believes there is a feral dog on the ranch property threatening the bred heifers that are the actual future of the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company. Beth disagrees, believing the dog is an abandoned pet, and sets out to find it and retrain the dog. While they’ve worked together, they each have kept their distance, even if there is an underlying curiosity about each other. Mostly, though, they butt heads as their approach to the ranch’s animals is far different. With the attacks on the bred heifers increasing, Beth and Justin will spend some serious time together watching over the cattle long into the nights. They’ll discover a lot about each other as they share histories, and perhaps, begin to acknowledge that attraction they’ve been denying.
The suspense aspect of this series is highlighted as it’s discovered that the so-called feral dog is not the culprit that Justin thought he was… more like a hero on four paws.
I enjoyed The Cowboy’s Undoing by Leah Vale so much. It’s a well-written romance with emotional moments, frustrating times, a closer look into friendships, and the continuing mystery that has plagued the ranch from the beginning. It was an enjoyable journey watching Beth and Justin go beyond their hesitation to see the true value of each other as they head for their happy ending. I’m having fun with this series, and isn’t that the entire point of getting lost in a fictional world?
The premise of this series is a fun one. A group of female bronco riders from a television series have decided to run their own company providing rodeo stock to the circuit. They have settled on a ranch owned by the brother of one of the team and are gradually finding their Happy Ever After. This is book 3 in the series and is about Beth Dawson and the ranch manager Justin Chadwick. They've known each other for a while but it's only recently that they have admitted to themselves an attraction. Thrown together by their different opinions about the solution to a dog believed to be worrying the bred heifers herd (They are all preggers) they have also been given a task by Sammie that will force them to work together doing a project for her wedding. Getting to know each other in this forced proximity, we see them come to understand the reasons they have different points of view over how to deal with the situation. They also learn the many things they have in common. The story takes place mostly over a couple of intense days and at times seemed very fast but when you remember they had already known each other for months, it is a logical progression. Both protagonists have their own baggage and it was interesting to see the different ways they dealt with coming clean about the past. There was also a mystery arc that has flowed through the whole series that has some impact on the developing relationship. A very sweet romance with some mild spice. I look forward to the next book in the series and the eventual resolution of the mystery.

Once again, the author takes the readers to Last Stand, Texas. This is the place where the former Buckin’ Babes have leased the Halliday ranch in order to started the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company. Each of these ladies have unique strengths and two have fallen for men that admire their strength and compliment them. This time, the story belongs to Beth Dawson. Beth, who is the bronc rider of the group, has always been the caretaker of the gals. When she sees someone or something that needs to be taken care of, she is the woman to do it. From the moment she met the ranch manager Justin Chadwick, the attraction was instant. But he seems to be oblivious of her, or so she thinks, and he takes his job very seriously. Especially since the Halloway’s took him in when he needed it most and now have given him an opportunity as manager of the ranch. Unbeknown to Beth, he too has been attracted to her since the day he met her. But not only is his job his priority, he believes he’s not good enough for Beth. When these two are put together to help Sammie have her perfect wedding, feelings intensify. What happens when Beth might have taken it too far thinking she’s helping him release his guilt of the past? This engaging story is a reminder that sometimes family is not only those we are born into, but also those we create with special friendships. It’s a story about second chances in live and love. A good addition to the series. Looking forward to the next Buckin’ Babe story as she finds love . I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What a great love story that we have from Justin Chadwick and Beth Dawson. Justin is the Ranch Manager at the A Bar H ranch and he takes his job very seriously. Around here as he sees it Animals are money on the hoof and when they loose an animal that is money he took away from the ranch. The bred heifers are representing the future of the ranch and must be guarded at all costs. Any threats must be eliminated and a feral dog is nothing to ignore. Beth Dawson is a member of the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company she started with friends. You might say she is an animal wrangler. She is a former bronc rider and is the most friendly, loving caretaker you will find. And when she sees what Justin thinks is a feral dog she is out to prove him wrong and prove that the dog is a pet that needs love and a home. She is determined to save the dog and the ranch's livestock. They have to spend a lot of time together trying to protect and livestock looking for the dog. Him to shoot it and her to save the dog. They talk a lot and learn a lot about each other and eventually fall in love. This is the part of the review that I leave you and let you find out how they fell in love and if Beth saves the dog. So here you need to read this great book and answer all of your questions. Enjoy it...I sure did.
It all started with a dog. - Thrown together by a sneaky pregnant woman to do her bidding, Justin and Beth get the opportunity to explore the attraction they each feel but have not acted upon. He doesn't think he's deserving of love, wearing a figurative hair shirt for an accident that occurred years ago. She doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize either of their positions on the ranch. When he decides to hunt down a presumed deadly threat to the pregnant heifers, she is just as determined to ensure the animal is saved, tamed even. The caretaker in her will not stand by and allow a needless taking of life. The protector in him will ensure the ranch, and all its inhabitants, are safe. How two such noble beings had not already gravitated to each other is astonishing, as they are cut from the same caring cloth.
A great addition to this series, the ladies pressing forward to realize their dreams for security, family and love. And Buddy isn't a threat, but a protector just like the humans who took him to their bosoms (one very reluctantly). He ran off some coyotes and maybe a human intruder. More foul play at the ranch even as love blossoms and wedding bells chime.

This is another story about the Grit and Grace girls/women! Justin has been working at the ranch as the foreman, he's very grateful that he's been given this opportunity to work there, he has a hidden past. He saw Beth when they all arrived and although the others are all attractive women, it's Beth who he's enamoured with, but he doesn't think that he's good enough for her, he won't talk to anyone about his past. But Sammie pushes them together, probably knowing that Beth is taken with Justin but is working on hiding it! Beth is determined to rescue the dog that Justin thinks is worrying the heifers, he thinks he needs to shoot it, but Beth is a carer, she looks after everyone and everything, a result of her past. Can she persuade Justin to let her try to tame the dog, and can she find out about his past?

Author Leah Vale has done it again! Another fabulous addition to the Grit and Grace Series. The Cowboy’s Undoing is a charming story full of heart, romance, intrigue, great world building, and great writing. Both main and supporting characters are well rounded and wonderfully written. I love Beth and Justin as a couple. Their emotion and friendship develop as they continue to evolve as individuals and as a couple throughout the story. I also love how the author brings friendship and family to the story which, in my opinion, makes it an even more enjoyable read. This contemporary, western romance is well paced and brings the setting to life from start to finish drawing the reader into the story. The Cowboy’s Undoing is worth the read.

The Cowboy's Undoing ~ Grit & Grace #3 by Leah Vale.
Blurb: This cowgirl can tame any beast. Cowboys aren’t so easy...
A brilliant addition to this amazing series from Leah. Former bronc rider Beth Dawson and Ranch manager Justin Chadwick both work on the A Bar H ranch. Are"Forced to work together, will these two find a middle ground …never mind fall in love?"
I found this book to be written extremely well, the chemistry between Justin and Beth is good and the storyline is believable and easy to read. I was kept engaged throughout the story, by the way Leah has written them with her descriptive writing. I highly recommend this book to all, and I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Inspirational, Original, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters
I love the girls of Grit and Grace -their friendship, their courage, their "love stories. This is Beth's story - she's the animal wrangler on the ranch with a heart of gold. She develops a soft spot for a feral dog. This puts her at odds with the ranch manager Justin who will do anything to protect the pregnant heifers (even if it means shooting the feral dog). As Justin and Beth work together on the ranch past secrets are revealed and emotions run deep. I'm sad to say I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two. I felt it dragged at times and we never did get an answer to who or what is after the heifers. However, I am looking forward to reading more in this series and hopefully gain some insight into who is trying to sabotage these strong women. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Standalone story! This is the first book in the series I've read and I wasn't lost. Of course some of the characters info was given from back stories and I may check them out.
Great MC's that I felt a connection to. The H has a secret and what I enjoyed the secret didn't last forever. He had honest dialogue with the h and that made their relationship special, because he trusted her.
Both have very kind hearts and both enjoy making others' lives easier. Romance builds slowly and lovemaking once with the door tightly closed.
There's a villain that we don't know who it is. I have a feeling, he's been causing problems since book 1. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romantic, great banter, a dog who will steal your heart and only kisses described.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)
The Cowboy’s Undoing is book 3 in the Grit and Grace series by Leah Vale 4.5 stars
Five women were part of a reality show that was canceled so they decided to start a new company called Grit and Grace Roughstock Company to provide stock for the rodeos. Up next is Beth Dawson and Justin Chadwick.
Justin, carrying lots of baggage for an accident that happen 14 yrs ago where he up and left his family. and doesn’t believe he is good enough for Beth the nurturing, beautiful, big hearted woman that he keeps at arm’s length. Beth has been attracted to him and wants to show him he is worthy. Twists, turns, challenges, underlying story, sparks, bringing family back to Justin and more…
I voluntarily read a copy of this book from BookSprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Cowboys Undoing by Leah Vale has Beth Dawson as the main character. She is now the animal wrangler for the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company started by her and her friends. Ranch manager Justin Chadwick and Beth are best described as workers who do not see eye to eye sometimes. I wouldn’t exactly call this an “enemy to more “ story but they definitely can disagree.
It is easy to understand both sides of these two differences through the dialogue and the events that happen in this story. Forced to work together the plot allows for relationship building as well as a learned appreciation which leads to romance. Of course, one is much more hardheaded than the other. A fun realistic story where no dogs get shot.
What’s better than being in Last Stand Texas? Well, of course it’s another story with the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company. This is a group of female bronco riders that decided to stick together after the cancellation of a TV show that they were starring in. This is Beth Dawson ‘s story. Can Beth get Justin Chadwick to let his defenses down? The two of them are spending quite a bit of time together getting the arch for Sammie wedding done, while trying to protect the herd. Justin thinks it’s a feral dog. But Beth is having no part of that. You have to read the story to find out what happens .
Thank you Tule publishing for trusting me with this ARC in return from my honest review.
Beth and Justin both love their jobs. They feel that those around them are family. Beth is a natural caretaker. Justin feels that he owes the Halliday family for giving him the opportunity to start over . He runs their A Bar H Ranch and Beth and her friends are the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock company. When a stray dog threatens the livestock Justin is called to take action. Beth believes the dog was once someone's pet. The stray causes a difference of opinion between them. Despite how it looks, Justin does not want to shoot the dog. Beth want to tame and keep it. Beth insists the dog is protecting them and the animals. Can Justin forgive himself and let her in? Can Beth work her way into his heart? I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. Good read.
Beth is a helper who can’t see hurting a stray dog without trying to save it. Justin doesn’t want to shoot Buddy who like Justin is misunderstood. They both let Beth close but Justin thinks he’s not worthy of her love and pushes her away. I loved that Beth’s family thought of her as a certain forest princess who was surrounded by animals. She has a big stubborn heart if only Justin will accept it and her interference trying to make things right. It was nice to catch up with the ladies of Grit and Grace and I’m looking forward to more of their stories and hopefully eventually solving the mystery of who is behind all the bad things happening on the ranch.
A new author for me and I enjoyed this well written story. This is part of an interconnected series about women who started the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company but I did not feel too lost. ( and I do want to go back and read the first two). This is the slowburn story of Beth and Ranch manager Justin Chadwick. They are thrown together by a dog and some meddling. Both fight the attraction so there is a delicious tension. Really sweet story with a bit of angst, found family, humor, danger and a whole lot of love. HEA.

Justin and Beth. Shes an animal wrangler for a rodeo and believe it or not a former bronc rider. She believes all animals should be cared for. Justin believes the ranch animals are money on the hoof and should be treated as such. Beth is trying to find a spot on the ranch, Justin cares for, to have her friend's, and co owner of their rodeo company, perfect spot for her wedding. So when the herd is threatened he and Beth butt heads on the right thing to do. They are forced to work together and theres a thin line that they try not to cross but the bickering just makes it more inticing.

The third book in the Grit and Grace series was excellent. With love found, forgiving oneself, and a stray dog, I didn't want to put the book down, and left me wanting more.
Justin accidentally hurt his cousin when he was just eighteen. He decided to leave his family, and carried the blame and guilt for the past fourteen years, never feeling like he deserved love again. Thankfully Beth has a heart of gold, and is willing to show him the way back to love.

This author was new to me, and I'm so glad I picked up her book! It was a grumpy cowboy/ sweet cowgirl romance that was amazing! I just adored Beth. She has a golden heart and wants to take care of everyone and every animal. Then grumpy Justin is deceptive. He comes off grumpy, but he is really kind and protective. He carries a lot of baggage, and who better to help him than Beth and a stray dog, Buddy! This book has it all, grumpy sexy cowboys, dogs, pregnant heifers, a pregnant bride to be, love, and a mystery! Read this book!! It's wonderful!
Beth Dawson a kinder sweeter person you could ever meet. Always thinking of others comfort before her own. Justin Chadwick a natural protector of everything in his care whether humans or animals. From the moment these two met, they had a special connection, but they exnored it. Until, they had a disagreement over a dog, which forced them into spending time together. Enjoy this unforgettable story of forced proximity.

Another great addition to the Grit and Grace series. Justin, the ranch manager and Beth, the beautiful bronc busting beauty butt heads when she witnesses him taking aim at a dog in the pasture where the bred heifers were grazing. He believes the dog is feral and had been chasing the heifers. Beth is determined to tame the dog. Another good storyline and wonderful characters who can’t deny the chemistry between them. But will Justin’s past keep him at arms length.

Beasts are easy to tame but cowboys are another animal and harder to tame. Or so animal trainer Beth Dawson claims. Justin Hardwick is the ranch manager for the A Bar H ranch. And he takes his job seriously. But when a feral dog starts to cause problems, Justin and Beth start to butt heads. They both want the same thing in the end but can they find a middle road where both are satisfied?
This is a quick read and enjoyable.
I did receive a copy of this novel ahead of time in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
This was such a great story from the very first page to the very last sentence. I loved the characters Beth and Justin because they start off on the wrongfoot but eventually fall in love with each other. This romance read is going to have your heart racing fast like a racehorse due to the anticipation of what will happen next and how the book ends. I don't want to spoil a great book so just read it and see exactly what I am talking about.
Beth is part of the Grit and Grace female rodeo cowgirls. She has a lot on her plate. Helping with a wedding, taking care of their pregnant Longhorns , and keeping her feelings for Justin from being seen. Mysterious happenings and saving a dog changes everything. Awesome series. I have loved each one so far.

Beth and some of her girlfriends have started their own company raising cattle where she meets ranch manager Justin. They butt heads from day one but underneath they are actually attracted to each other but Justin is hiding a secret past that prevents him from getting seriously involved with anyone. Will Beth be able to break through Justin’s barriers?.

Beth and Justin are on different sides about a feral dog. Beth wants to take care of it and Justin thinks it should be gotten rid of. It's fun and fascinating to see them working through this and other issues as they get to know each other better and become a couple. The ranch is such a family as well that it's wonderful to see all these wonderful characters again.

I love this series. Each book has been exceptional, but I have to say that this might be my new favourite in this series. Beth and Justin are great together. From the moment they meet they have this attraction between them. I loved their story. It is romantic, sweet, and very entertaining. I look forward to reading more by this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
