Back when I was a kid, in the old country, abattoir tours were part of the primary school curriculum, and at least one kid in every group walked out a vegetarian.
Now, back to business.
What an absolutely phenomenal read.
Nat smashed this. You could easily call this extreme horror or splatterpunk, because it easily ticks enough boxes for both, however I’m gonna call it what it is, a brilliant piece of transgressive, dystopian speculative fiction, with enough heart murder you’d swear you just took a log splitter right to the feels.
This is a heavy read, one I feel pushes all the right buttons, because art is meant to push boundaries and challenge perceptions.
I’d have to say I’d probably put this right up there, beside Candace Nola’s Desperate Wishes, as one of the to most powerful reads of this year, and a definite must read if you have the constitution and determination to grit your teeth and bear it til make it through, because you’re in for a pretty bumpy ride
