I grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent most of my summers in Smithfield, Virginia.

I first realized I wanted to be a writer while attending the George Washington Carver High School for Engineering & Science – yes, there was a time when I wanted to be an architect, at least I thought I did. Then, one day, I couldn't take the boredom of another chemistry class and decided to write a novel. It was passed around to all of my classmates, who loved it. I did this several times and realized I had zero talent in math, science, or architecture. I was much better at writing, so I focused on that when I went to university.

In 1995, I chucked living in the US for the good life in Sweden with my Swedish husband.

I truly enjoyed Maybe Tonight. I felt more sympathy for Laney because of Maybe Tonight. and I felt like I got to know Mads a bit more since this was from his point of view. It definitely gave a different spin on Maybe Baby. It wasn't as clear cut for me after reading Mads' perspective. He was such a sympathetic person that I could see how things could get muddled for him. He was just trying to get by and help people out but he started to feel the burnout that many people feel regardless of their jobs, orthodox or unorthodox as was his case as a sperm donor. and then coincidentally he fell in love and that made the transition that much easier for him.

Another thing that impressed was that I didn't feel like I was reading thoughts of an american man but of someone European and I think that's actually a uncommon talent that the author possesses. I also love the cover!! Great read!

When I was reading 'Maybe Baby' which was written solely from Laney's point of view, I found myself constantly wondering what Mads was thinking. 'Maybe Tonight' is the start of our finding out. I like that Kim Golden right away addresses the issue of how a man who is a sperm donor got into that pursuit, and how it makes him feel. An encounter with one of the children he helped, er, produce is a really poignant moment that humanizes Mads.

And when he meets Laney and is immediately infatuated with her, I got a little insight into what she represents for him -- hope of something deeper. When he first spots her from a distance, its like he's looking through the window into a life he might have, but doesn't think he can. And then he meets her and immediately the idea forms that ... maybe, just maybe he can have that life. If Laney chooses him over Niklas. I look forward to additional installments in this series.

A great read. This is Part 2 in the Maybe Series. A beautiful story told from Mads's POV. Laney and Mads were living together, getting to know each other, facing the ups and downs of everyday life while they await the birth of their child. Mads's life was complicated. Meeting Laney and falling for her made him realized that he needed to get a grip and changed the course his life had been taking. Loved it.

The opportunity to get inside Mads' head after Maybe Baby was a chance I couldn't miss. Maybe Baby was told from Laney's POV, so seeing this handsome Swede's thoughts was interesting. What I love about Mads is that he's big, tall, a real man yet sensitive and caring. Mads put his heart 'out there' quite quickly in Maybe Baby and I understood his journey more after this novella.

What was unexpectedly great about this novella was that it wasn't just a parallel POV retelling of Book One, more than half of it was new content. I really didn't expect the storyline to go the way it did. I would describe the pace and direction of the book as gentle, surprisingly so under the circumstances at times. I was glad for both Mads and Laney that they had some periods of stability but I didn't really feel that I got to see the depth of their burgeoning relationship. However, I am highly anticipating Maybe Forever and I am hoping to get more of a feel for their together-ness then. Another enjoyable read from Kim Golden.

A copy of his book was provided by the author in return for an honest review.

I read this before reading Maybe Baby and it made me curious about how things unfolded in its predecessor. So I had to go back and read it. I will say between the two, I may have enjoyed this more. It felt more emotive, not to say emotions were missing in Maybe Baby. Seeing things from Mads end filled in some holes, added a bit more depth, and convinced me that Laney and Mads really should be together. I liked that Mads was a genuinely good guy and emotionally honest. Sure, I would have preferred he and Laney meeting while Laney was single, but we can't have everything lol. In all, these two books has inspired my muse, and that to me shows that Kim Golden is a talented writer. Yes, there were still some hiccups in terms of typos, but overall the story was gentle, sweet, and messy in some places. In essence, a reflection of human life.

I thoroughly enjoyed Kim Golden’sMaybe Baby, a love story told entirely from lead character Laney’s perspective. When I heard that Kim had written a follow-up novella that offers the chance to better understand Mads, Laney’s love interest, I jumped at the opportunity.

In Maybe Tonight, we’re given the back story into how Mads met Laney. It all began with a chance encounter at a mixer for a progressive sperm donor organization, where Laney attends as a potential client, and Mads as a potential donor. From this bizarre circumstance, a love story begins. Usually, we’re only offered up one character’s insight into a story and have to guess or imagine how the other characters are feeling or thinking, but Tonight gives us better clarity into what makes Laney and Mads work, the struggles they face while dealing with very difficult yet entirely fathomable situations.

Although much of the novella contains repeated scenes told in Maybe Baby, I felt the story line continued because it didn’t just end with Laney. A lot more has been revealed by gaining Mads’ perspective. There is a struggle within him to be with the woman he loves, although she’s not entirely available. He wants to branch out and do more with his passion in life (he’s a carpenter) yet he feels he can’t afford to leave his side job with the sperm donor organization. Imagine running into a client on the street, and she’s pushing a baby in the stroller. A baby who you’ve helped create. One who you know you’ll never be able to interact with or be involved with. It’s a bi-product of his side job. His side job is crushing his spirit.

Before reading Maybe Tonight, I highly suggest reading Maybe Baby, first. The two go hand in hand. You’ll enjoy the love story between these two, however unconventional it might be, and that’s what’s so great about it. An awkward, real, and raw look at how two people destined for entirely different life experiences have come together to forge their own path.

For anyone who would like to read this book, I strongly suggest that you read Maybe Baby first because it sets the foundation for this story. Maybe Tonight is not only of a continuation of Maybe Baby, but it also the retelling of scenes between Mads and Laney from Maybe Baby, but all from Mads’ POV. The reader gets inside of Mads’ head and experiences things from his perspective-beginning with one of his baby-making interludes (I’m like hello why you gotta screw these women-turkey baster and sperm…but I digress) to his meeting Laney for the first time and the progression of their clandestine relationship beyond. You will fall in love with this man I tell you! Not only is he good with his hands (he’s a master craftsman), but he’s good with his heart and other parts of his anatomy (wink).

Kim Golden is such a great storyteller. When you read her books, you feel like a voyeur who is spying on the private lives of these characters. You are transported into their world, and you can’t look away. You want the story to go on and on…I love how Mads and Laney are so attuned to each other. They are love at first sight personified, and you route for them in spite of her being in a committed relationship (albeit fruitless and somewhat loveless). This is NOT a story about infidelity, but one of falling in love for the first time but at the wrong time…

I highly recommend this book and it’s companion Maybe Baby. I’m ready to book my flight to Copenhagen!

I love to read stories where authors take a character from one book and add complexity with a new story from this new character's perspective! This is exactly what Kim Golden does in "Maybe Tonight."

In Book 1, we got Laney's story, and in this book, we get Mad's POV, starting from just before he and Laney meet and spanning further into their relationship, after the baby comes. This time span works perfectly. We get to see how their new life together begins, with roles for Niklas's son Jesper and both of their friends.

My favorite explorations were the issues that Mads becomes aware as a sperm donor. Being a "popular" donor means that he has biological children all over the world! Are these "his" children? What role should they play in his life? I had never considered this aspect of being a donor at a sperm bank, and I love that Golden gets me to think about this in the context of Mads having "his own" baby with Laney.

Though I knew this would be a novella when I began, I actually wanted it to be a full-length novel so we could watch more intimate conversations and struggles on other issues that come up around the baby. But that's okay because, ultimately, after reading "Maybe Tonight," I was more invested in Mads's perspective, which made me even more excited to read Book #3!!

Interestingly, I liked this better than book 1. Not sure why but being able to get in Mads' head added to my enjoyment and understanding. In book 1 there was an element of insta love, which I hate but the author described the connection between the two and you immediately saw, yeah, theY NEED to be together. Mads' POV just underscored that connection. And goodness you felt that overwhelming love he had for Laney. The birth of Liv and her struggles felt so right. Laney and Mads' feelings of being punished revealed the guilt they felt which was so real. Very strong writing. Still a few boo boos. Perhaps the author should invest in an editor just to polish her work. She writes with feeling and an understanding of adult relationships. I am eager to read more of her work.

You fall in love with Mads in 'Maybe Baby' Now you get a chance to get inside his head and you're going to love it!

When I read Maybe Baby, I was desperate to know more about Mads, to know what was going through his head. What made him want to be a sperm donor? What made him suddenly know it was time to stop? What did he feel when he first met Laney?

You get to know this and more in Maybe Tonight. The only thing I will say I don't like is now, now I want to know more!!

Another fabulous book by the ever so lovely Kim!

Great way to catch up

3.5

I recently read Maybe Baby and am anxious to read the next adventure for Laney and Mads. When I saw Maybe Tonight, I was pleased and quickly purchased it. The beginning is choppy and if you haven't read M.B yet, you might find it confusing. Once you get to chapter 4 things smooth out greatly. I hope that the next book in the series picks up where M.T leaves off and gives us more insight into the couple's lives.

I enjoyed this little novella from Kim Golden because I truly enjoyed the full-length novel Maybe Baby. I look at it as a treat to read into another point of view to the Maybe Baby story. This one takes a look at scenes and events from Mads' perspective, a main character male who happens to be a sperm donor. It was interesting, dramatic and romantic.

Continuation of Maybe Baby- Mads and Laney's story from Mads POV from meeting to current day with Laney pregnant. I enjoyed hearing Mads voice of the story and it was not just a retelling of the same bits. I like the relationship they build with Jasper. Fun read

Loving Mads

This was great! You get to see how Mads and Laney meet from Mads’ view! You see how he deals with his friends and where they for in his life. You also get to see the demons he’s fighting and how his past has made him the man he is today.

Mads’ POV in Maybe Tonight isn’t as linear as Laney’s in Maybe Baby, but it’s no less compelling.

Unlike some stories that simply give the male POV to the same events and situations as the female’s, Mads’ story is so much more personal.

Even before he meets Laney Halliwell, Mads’ frustration with his life is apparent. What was once a good idea – being a sperm donor for Copenhagen Cryo – is now something that fills Mads with dread. However, it’s during a Mingles event with perspective clients at the clinic that Mads and Laney connect. Mads instantly knows his life is forever changed that night.

The author doesn’t waste words on Mads’ emotions, but allows him to speak for himself. He doesn’t care for the secret, long distance affair he and Laney are having, but he doesn’t want to push. Still, it kills him a little inside every time she returns “home.” After unexpectedly meeting Niklas and seeing firsthand his treatment of Laney, Mads is more determined than ever to make Laney his and his alone.

Mads’ inner turmoil over his non-relationship with his father, and the death of his mother are also heartfelt and well-written. His feelings of inadequacy at not being able to give Laney the life of privilege she was used to tug at the heart. But, it’s new father Mads who falls in love with his premature daughter, and is already seeing more children in their future that wins the day for me.

Mads and Laney’s journey is definitely one all romance lovers should take. Two people, wanting something more, but not knowing what that ‘more’ is until they find it in each other.

Enjoy!

*** I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review ***

This book was completely different than I expected. It wasn't bad, but just ok. It takes place in Denmark, which was interesting. In it, you have Mads, an extremely prolific sperm donor, who randomly meets a birth child one day, and one he thinks of often in the future. Coincidentally, on the same day, he meets Laney, who wants a baby. There's an instant connection between them and we spend the rest of the book following their love story. Written with poorly executed segues into various points in their life together, from secretly sleeping together to her breaking up with her boyfriend when she chooses Mads, we follow their path towards their HEA. Overall, this was just ok. Not sure if it was good enough for me to try something else by the new-to-me author however.
