Forced to rely on a man she doesn’t trust, can Claire Decker save the only family she has left and keep her heart safe in the process? When Claire’s little brother bought a Harley after his 18th birthday, she never expected that four years later he’d be moving across the country and joining a motorcycle club. Time went by and they slowly lost touch. But when she is fired and kicked out of her apartment on her 35th birthday she has option but to give Charlie a call.
Jason Shepard is not pleased. Shep and Charlie Decker became brothers after joining the Kings of Chaos MC together. But when Charlie tells Shep that his sister Claire is coming to stay in the townhouse they share, Shep is less than pleased. Things go from bad to worse when Shep actually meets Claire. Soft, blond hair, shining, sky-blue eyes, and legs that seem to go on forever, Claire is someone whom Shep wants more than any other woman he’s ever seen before.
Claire’s staying far away from the tattoo-covered, motorcycle-riding bad boy who just so happens to set her heart pounding and turns her blood hot in her veins. Likewise, Shep does his best to stay far away from complication and this girl--no matter how sexy--has complicated written all over her.
Down on her luck, 35 year old Claire moves herself temporarily into her brother’s condo that he shares with his best friend, hunky tattooed bad boy Jason Shepherd, both these guys belong to a motorcycle club and they’re keeping a collective secret. Shep is not happy with Claire’s arrival or the threat she poses to their well laid plans so they don’t get off to a good start, in fact Claire thinks he’s a bit of a braggart.
Claire. I love a woman who takes control but her character was too bossy and she got away with it without barely a murmur from Shep oh I think he frowned and muttered once or twice. Hardly the sort of behaviour I’m expecting from the H when the title begs for a strong alpha male.
Talking about the title. I’d love to give the author five stars for innuendo, she outdid herself.
Cover – call me shallow but it sucked me right in
Title - is that the Hells Angels? – na kidding, I did read the blurb after all
Words in brackets (bikers – what’s a girl to think?)
Erotic. When an author includes the word erotic (some authors seem to think it interchangeable with erotica) I almost didn't read it but rest easy there's no erotica in this novel thank goodness.
Any novel short or long I want to feel the romance unfolding in the plot but not superseded by it. I realise it’s a fine line that most authors must walk but I need to feel the all-consuming burn between the mc’s, that instant of deep mutual attraction, a flame that burns reluctantly hotter as the novel progresses. But in reality it was a mild burn due to other things that were going on in the novel.
More on the romance less on the plot would have worked a whole lot better and I know that's possible even with short stories.
This is currently free as part of the 'Angels from Hell box set' it's a very short read at only 47 pages and because it's so short there's not a lot of story or character development. Claire's life was on track and going really well, she's always been responsible and hardworking but lately things have not been going her way the diagnostic lab she worked for was bought out and she was let go then on top of that she was given notice that her apartment was being converted into luxury condominiums so she was homeless and jobless. The book starts with her travelling to Asheville, North Carolina to live with her brother Charlie until she gets settled, Charlie has a job and apartment lined up for her so she's all set the only problem appears to be Charlie's best friend and roommate Shep, Claire's not really sure she likes him, or does she....
Another one of those short bedtime or bathtime or beach reads from A.L. Summers...a short story that I wish would have been longer to develop more plot and a meatier history. I got it as a freebie so I can't complain but as usual with this author's work, we only get a small tease of a bite and not the whole meal. If you can get it on a free promo biker romance readers will probably like it =)
This story really focuses on Charlie and he preparations for a big time MC race. She's his best friend and Claire his sister begin forming a relationship during this time. The story ends after Charlie wins.
I liked it! Fast quick read. Girl down on her luck moves to where her brother lives. Meets sexy biker dude. Instant chemistry that can't be denied. Enjoyed the storyline.
