Many of us understand faith intellectually, but our hearts have not quite kept up with our heads. Sonship is designed to help you take some of the glorious theological truths of the gospel—truths you may know in your head—and apply them to the nitty-gritty reality of daily life. You'll find that as the gospel remakes you, there is greater joy and desire to share the wonderful news of God's loving-kindness with others.
This 16-lesson updated and reformatted edition of Sonship challenges participants to take basic gospel truth and apply it deeply to their lives. Designed to be used with Sonship Audio and the Mentored Sonship Program. Many have adapted it for use in small groups and Sunday schools.
"In my own life there has been no seminar, conference, book, or teaching aid which has given me as profound an understanding and experience of the implications of the gospel as Sonship." Scotty Smith, Pastor, Christ Community Church, Franklin, TN.
I’ve spent the past semester walking through this Sonship material. The experience has been deeply enriching and came during a season when I desperately needed it. I’d highly recommend the mentorship dimension of the curriculum. Without out the mentoring and coaching the curriculum is good but will probably land flat.
Not exaggerating to say this study changed my life. Heartily recommend to any Christian who truly desires to grow in faith. One caveat: you absolutely must have the audio files to use the “manual” which pushes the price out of reasonable range. I want to implore the publisher to revamp this somehow to make it more accessible to all
This 16-session study hits pretty hard on identity in the beginning chapters only to subtly transition to primary scriptural doctrines and how they’re impacted by our identity in Christ.
For the most part, I was frustrated with the speakers throughout this study. They told stories, gave lovely tidbits of wisdom, but I almost always struggled to see the big picture point they were trying to make. Josiah Bancroft was my favorite speaker because his outlines followed a more traditional sermon pattern. While Scriptural truth was there and I learned so much about God and my relationship with Him, I confess I found the other books and studies I did more affective in helping me understand my Sonship with Christ.
My life has been changed for good after doing this! Doing this alongside ladies from church, disciplining one another. Reminding one another that since we are adopted by our Father we are free to call out our sin, live a repent life and share with others! I already know I want to make it a habit to come back to do this again! I highly recommend doing it with other people - live in community and processing with others brings this book even more fruit in your life! How we can minister to others when we see our weakness and can call out to the Spirit to change our hearts. We made choices each day also, to run to the truth. To pray. Beautiful book!
Phenomenal personal study resource. I was surprised how good it was and think I could go thru every couple years. You don’t “graduate from” what’s in here. Sonship, adoption, justification are clutch for the believer, and if you’re not living from these truths you’re probably (like I have the tendency to do) trying to earn and gain validation, acceptance or status. So good!
Great curriculum for a mentoring/discipleship relationship. Messages were good. Excerpts in the manual were awesome. But of greatest importance is the commitment to and investment in the mentoring relationship.
I have come back to Sonship time and time again. The truths rich and meaningful and life changing. To get the full experience, one must have mentorship and listen to the lectures. God used Sonship to radically change my life a few years ago and I am so very thankful He did.
