After a greater part of a year, and 1540 pages, I am done.
I read The Bible primarily to see what all those who say they follow Christian scripture are talking about. Clearly, they have not read the book. I would not trust them to read a user's manual of some device, machine, or equipment. They must only read a few pages (or that the word of someone else) and claim that that's the whole document. There are many transgressions and sins that are against God's word that they commit every day. Fornication, lying, theft, baring false witness, and hypocrisy are just a few of their sins. Heck, most put their decisions and beliefs behind elected officials who commit sins on an hourly basis.
And according to scripture, there are ordinances on personal grooming and attire.
But I always knew that there was an out for them. Sin on Saturday, and confess on Sunday, and you will be absolved.
I came to understand why since time immemorial wars against those of other religions have been.
Since we have the less fortunate with us, as we always have, I wonder how those who say they follow scripture reconcile not helping them. The Bible is nothing if not repetitive. If they missed the first mention of helping out the poor, the fatherless, the widows, there are a multitude of other mentions.
I wonder if when a natural disaster strikes, do they ever think it was caused by something they did? Or didn't do? In my time, all I've ever heard is they blame others.
I will take away from reading The Bible many things to apply to my life. Along with things I have already applied.
