Eryn's done it again. She's a pro at bringing us to sweet seduction and peace with her stories and characters.

Layla is a wonderful girl with great loyalty, and no one can complete her the way Ollie does.

I read this in all stages of its draft, and I'm so pleased with the final product. Way to go, Eryn!
Cannot wait to read Separated Souls and the continuing saga of the Hannel men. ❤️

Layla Brooks is an artist working as a waitress to make ends meet and to save money to pay off the loan sharks that are after her sister for a debt that her deceased brother in law racked up. Lucy is Layla's twin sister. Layla will do whatever it takes to keep Lucy safe. Even if that means paying it herself. One night one of the goons catches up with her. Out of now where Shock the superhero comes to Layla's rescue.

Oliver Hannel is an actor. Right now he's playing the role of a superhero they call Shock. Not only does he rescue her from the goon who's after her to collect the money owed from her deceased brother in law, he also finds a way to help her sell her art to come up with the money.

The Sparks fly between Layla and Ollie from the minute they meet. Layla found herself her own superhero.  They butt heads a few times but it's obvious they have feelings for eachother and belong together.

I would recommend this book to anyone. Especially if you're looking for your own superhero!

She will rest at nothing to protect her from a casino mogul’s henchman bent on collecting a debt… even if that includes taking her sister’s punishment. Oliver and Layla’s opposite worlds collide with a Bam! But, are either of them ready for the lies, truth and lust that comes along with a relationship born of shock? Or will their love come and go as fast as a bolt of lightning?

I LOVED this book. It was sexy, funny, and exciting all rolled into one. There was a crazy, heart racing story intertwined with Layla and Oliver’s love story. Of course, the entire time I was reading this book I was picturing Henry Cavill. But, once you pick up this book you will see why.

Layla’s character was a breath of fresh air. She was a damsel in distress at the beginning of the story, but we see that she really is a strong, independent woman. She works hard to get what she wants and doesn’t take to help easily. I love that the author made her a strong female character because in many of the romance stories, we always see a woman who NEEDS a man in more areas of her life than the bedroom. That wasn’t the case with Layla and Oliver. They have an immediate connection, but Layla doesn’t give into it right away. It made the story seem more believable.

Oliver’s character was a super sweet and sexy British man. Sound familiar? At one moment he was playful with Layla and at another he was strong and protective. He is Layla’s own personal superhero, every girls dream.

Deep within the love story of Layla and Oliver is another love story between Layla and her twin sister Lucy. It was beautiful to see the connection, love and compassion that the two sisters have for each other. If anyone reading has a sister, you will put yourself in Layla’s place and wonder how far you would go to help someone you love.

The story was not jam packed with narrative, which I liked. Sometimes I can get lost in a narration and forget what I am reading. The author’s descriptions were beautiful and the dialogue could make you laugh or cry. It is everything you would want in an adult romance.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for their own sexy superhero to save their day, even if it’s only for a little while.

I believe that "Falling for Shock" is an excellent example as to why "professional" book reviewers should stop sucking up to authors & publishing houses and do their job with some ethics. As I write this review "Falling for Shock" has a 4.83 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.com and 13 readers out of 14 have given it a 5 star on Amazon.com. And all I can say to this is... SERIOUSLY?

The book begins with the lead male character Ollie needing to urinate, really, really bad. How do I know that he needs to urinate really, really, bad? The entire first page and a half talks about nothing but and of course details the foul smells and other effects of a septic system that has backed up.

SERIOUSLY, I think to myself, is this supposed to be funny? Is this book written for a five year old boy who thinks flactuation and other bodily functions are the funniest thing ever? Mind you, in the mist of all this "needs to urinate" and "smelly smells" the boy meets the girl. Rather than being charmed at this point I am just grossed out. On page 39 they finally have a proper kiss and when it ends Ollie and I quote "...desperately needed something to distract him from the carnal toxins filling his body from the waist down."

(Pleased be impressed that I finished this book my fellow book lovers because it was not an easy feat!)

From here the story just becomes incredibly ridiculous with a few brief moments of sweetness in between. I rated the Sex Scene Score a 1.0 because other than your grandmother's romance novel type of sex there is one scene where Ollie and Layla are in separate showers but can hear each other. It was surprisingly hot and quite out of character when compared to the rest of the story.

5 Superhero Stars

While filming his latest project in a rural city in Indiana, England’s sexy star Oliver Hannel, witnesses a crime in progress in which he doesn’t let continue. Adorning his superhero costume for his role as The Shock, he takes matters into his own hands to “save the day.”

Sweet-spirited Layla Brooks is a waitress in the local diner as well as a very talented artist. She quickly becomes involved in her twin sister, Lucy’s, tangle of debt from a casino boss. Oliver and Layla’s chance meeting escalates into a relationship full of love, mystery, and plot twists.

Falling for Shock is a heart-warming novel that depicts every girl’s dream of having a “superhero” rescue her. The reader sees Oliver go from action hero to protector. Layla is a strong, independent woman, who remains loyal to both Oliver and Lucy until the end.

This was my first novel by Ms. LaPlant, and I would really like to see spin-off's featuring Oliver’s hot brothers or maybe even a novel about Oliver’s co-star Evan. For a different kind of read that highlights a superhero in a new light (both on-screen and off-screen), I definitely recommend Falling for Shock.

Dangerously heroic yet oh so captivating!

I must start off by stating how mesmerizing this story was. From the chancy, first encounter to an unyielding determination, Layla and Oliver give a delightful journey of two lovers entwined by fate. Layla's unfortunate dilemma to rectify her sister's past is quickly shaken by the likes of a charming good samaritan. Oliver, a charismatic, determined, humble man is rooted by the feisty Layla Brooks. The endless twists in this read keep you glued to its final ascend. While I feared the collector and posse of thuggish figures, I was teetering on the edge of nerves and frustration by Khai's greed. Lucy, Layla's twin sister and source of this fiasco, contributed quite minimally and I felt her part required a bit more to boost its storyline. Oliver's brother enters quite unexpectedly and with eye opening jolt. I enjoyed the moments shared between Layla and Oliver but more importantly, it's conclusion. (sigh). Overall, I'd say Eryn presented quite an extraordinary novel. A must read.

Falling for Shock

This book was given to me as a gift from an old friend. It has to be one of the best books I have read in a long time. So many times you can guess what is going to happen next in the story, but this one kept me guessing. The love story between Layla and Ollie was so sweet and beautiful...I want my own Ollie!
Thank you Eryn for my birthday present and I can't wait to read more from you!

This is a romance story. I thought it was really well written and I enjoyed the plot very much. It all starts out with a girl getting thrown around in an alley and an actor that happens to use that alley to urinate. The actor helps the girl and they start falling for each other. Very well written. Can't wait to read other stuff by her.

I loved this book! Oliver's character is too hot and reminded me on the one and only Henry Cavill. :) Every girl wishes she could have her own personal super hero. This book allows them to have that, even for a little while.

Who doesn't love reading a love story featuring an actor turned real life superhero who rescues a damsel in distress?!

In Falling for Shock, author Eryn LaPlant weaves a delightful romantic tale that follows the love story of Oliver Hannel and Layla Brooks. From their unexpected first meeting to their blossoming relationship, Oliver and Layla's journey to falling in love is filled with enough drama, suspense, romance, passion, and surprising twists and turns that easily keeps the reader guessing and turning the pages. I loved how the author intertwines the development of Layla and Oliver's relationship with the sibling relationship between Layla and her twin sister Lucy. This was such a fun story to read, it will make your heart race, and wish that you had your very own superhero!

Falling for Shock is a well written romance story that leaves the reader wanting more!

Falling for Shock by Eryn LaPlant
4 out of 5 stars

Oliver plays a superhero on the silver screen and tries to play one in real life when he rescues Layla from a brute that has mistaken her for her twin sister Lucy. However, Layla is not looking for a hero. Attracted to Layla and filming in her hometown, Ollie wants to help when Lucy's late husband's goons come looking for the money she owes them. Knowing Layla is fiercely independent, Ollie comes up with a way to help Layla and Lucy without them knowing it. When Layla finds out Ollie has rescued her again will she accept his help or will her independence push him away for good?

I liked most of this book, the dialogue between the characters was really good and I liked the relationship between the siblings. However, I think Ollie's superstar status was a bit overplayed.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

OMG! This book was so good! I had it in my TBR list like forever and now I wonder why it took me so long to read it! I was really curious about the way the author was going to handle the storyline movie-star-falls-for-normal-girl, without sounding unrealistic. I really liked the way the story between Oliver and Layla developed, it was funny, witty, sweet; they were both likable characters. Layla is so down-to-earth and strong, and Oliver...OMG Oliver...I have a new book boyfriend! He's so sweet, caring, and most of all, he was inspired by Henry Cavill, the man I've had a serious crush on for years, YAY!! What else can you ask for in a hero??
But you won't only find romance in this book, you'll also find some suspense, which adds a lot to the story, I couldn't put it down. This was my first book by Eryn LaPlant and it certainly won't be the last. I loved her writing style and the depth in the characters. In fact, I'm moving on to the second book in the series now, Falling for Freedom. Great series Eryn, you have a new fan in me!

What first drew me to this book was the original and intriguing premise of a superhero actor saving a real life damsel in distress. Having now read it I can tell you that FALLING FOR SHOCK has a lot of things going for it. The thing that I enjoyed most was the author's inside take on being an actor. In the back of the book, in the acknowledgement section, it says she actually talked to Dean Cain (TV's Superman) and got the scoop on the acting biz. Her talk of call sheets, harnesses, and the cast's trailers all made for a an interesting and authentic read, one that we couldn't get from just anybody because of the knowledge a TV superstar shared with her.

This book is another example of an entertaining read by this author.
All of Eryn's books have been done in a easy to read style where the Author
sets up the scene and allows your mind to picture what's going on and
does not waste page after page of boring explanations of the scene.
We all have an imagination and the writer encourages the reader to use it.
Falling for Shock follows in the wake of of two other great books by
this Author all of which I have enjoyed reading.
I was never a great lover of romantic fiction but Eryn has changed that
and I look forward to the next novel by this Talented Author.

This was a nice, quick read. The storyline was something I hadn't come across before. I absolutely loved that it is like a standalone. I've been sucked into too many series that it was nice to finally review one that has a definitive ending. This will make great beach read for those who are looking for one.

I loved this story! Actor turned real life super hero! Oliver Hannel is an actor who meets the love of his life while working on a film. Only she turns out to be a damsel in distress even though she didn't want to be one. He works to help her while falling in love.
