“Sometimes when we’re at our weakest, we finally see what we need.”

Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson write to explore the power of second chances.

Private Investigator, Penny Mitchell, and firefighter Bryce Crawford learn that a second chance is a miracle in disguise; God has handed them a gift to turn their lives around.

I loved that the authors gave me an opportunity to wrestle with my need to ‘get it right’ the first time, my ‘one-strike-you’re-out’ thinking, and my reluctance to offer grace. Reading Penny’s struggle reminded me that if I keep myself confined to ‘one try only’ I’ll miss out on some of life’s beautiful moments.

The writing duo also examines the toxicity of assumptions. I was reminded of the importance of holding back the reigns when I fill my emotional need with negative thoughts and then react rather than respond. The complicated connections will pull on the reader’s heartstrings and ignite empathy. Where I normally would have been rooting for Bryce, I found myself as invested in Penny’s plight.

This segues nicely into Phillips’ and Aleckson’s faith thread which highlights rescued faith and our perceived notion of weakness. I loved, loved, loved the connection they made between the three-cord thread and what kept Jesus on the cross. As the characters deal with past trauma, they bring their dark experiences into the light transmuting that grief and anger into healing and love. How wonderful to have characters modelling what the bible teaches!

Returning to Last Chance was a blessing in disguise for Penny. I need to appreciate more the experiences that God steers me towards that allow me to revisit a lesson I haven’t learned.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, this is one book you’ll want to put on your reading list. I’m still thinking about it days later!

I literally devoured this book in one sitting. Rescued Faith is Bryce and Penny's story. They meet up again when Bryce rescues Penny from a burning warehouse and have to work together on a joint task force on an investigation and stop the criminals. There is a misunderstanding between them they must clear up. Readers will learn more about Penny's backstory. Will she stop running and give Bryce a second chance at love?
Rescued Faith had me hooked from the start and didn't let go until I got to the end. This story has excitement, danger, romance, threats, suspense, and wonderful faith elements. Loved the chemistry between Bryce and Penny.

Rescued Faith by Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson starts out with a bang, then ends in a predictable, yet exciting conclusion. After the introduction chapter, Phillips and Aleckson start the story with a little bit of a past romance, then the romance takes over the plot for roughly sixty percent of the novel. If readers enjoy a lot of romance, then this could be right up their alley. But for me, I wanted more suspense, so these pages appeared to just drag right along. But when the climactic moment happened, it was more up to my standard. Plenty of moments where the heroine and hero really had to figure out what matter to them and what they planned to do to help others out. Phillips and Aleckson did a good job at crafting moments of danger and wrapping them into more danger on top of danger. The familiar setting of Last Chance county does bring back some familiar characters from previous books, and it is nice to have a familiarity with the setting for readers to cement them in the aspects of the novel. Overall, Rescued Faith by Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson leans a little heavy on the romance in the first two-thirds of the novel, but when the suspense actually starts to take over the story, it becomes a much stronger story.

I received a complimentary copy of Rescued Faith by Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson through Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Rescued Faith is the third book I have read written by Michelle Sass Aleckson and I have been enjoying her writing so much. This past year I have really enjoyed Lisa Phillips series. So, to be able to visit Last Chance County and be introduced to new authors is such a treat. Even though this is the sixth book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone. Packed full of suspense, rekindled romance, and faith, it was better than a movie.

The character development was good. I enjoyed getting to know Penny and Bryce more and seeing what made them tick. Watching them overcome their trauma and past and find their faith in Christ was such a great story.

The storyline was packed full. There was a lot going on in this story. I loved seeing the innerworkings of fire rescue and law enforcement. It was a fun dynamic. It kept me on edge. The setting was great too. I have really come to love Last Chance County.

The relationship between Penny and Bryce was sweet. It was a second chance romance. Which I love they got a second chance after finding Christ.

Michelle Sass Aleckson did a great job intertwining faith throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the reminder that God is at the center, and God can redeem us.

Penny and Bryce had a past that Penny wants to leave in the past. When her PI job takes her to Last Chance, a place she never wanted to return to, she hoped she could avoid him. When they are thrown together on the same task force they find that some things can’t be left in the past, no matter how much you try to convince yourself that’s where you want them.

Rescued Faith is heart-pounding action and suspense from beginning to end. The romance between Penny and Bryce is undeniable. This book was hard to put down.

I loved being back in Last Chance County and reading about familiar characters.

The journey of faith that Penny and Bryce go through is central to the story. It's remarkable how God can use different experiences to draw us closer to Him.

I loved Libby, Hazel and Harry. They were such sweet characters and so close with each of the main characters.

The level of suspense was perfect as the team seems to determine who is behind the criminal activity. There is lots of fingernail biting throughout the story!

Thanks to Sunrise Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Loved it! I kept turning pages and could not put down Rescued Faith until I finished.

Loved the story of Penny Mitchell, formerly ATF, and now a private investigator, being back in Last Chance, literally the last place she wanted to be, and rescue firefighter Bryce Crawford who she walked away from without a backward glance. They find themselves working on the same task force, with both of them trying to stay professional. Since then, Bryce with his playboy reputation has found the Lord.

"This was why she didn't do favors. She never should've come back to Last Chance County."
"How had he never noticed that hint of sadness, how uncomfortable she was talking about her past and her family." "Be honest with her. See what happens." (Best advice in life and in fiction.)
"Bryce Crawford, if you're not dead right now I'm gonna kill you myself." "Man she was gorgeous when she was angry."

A traumatic past, action, suspense, the witness of people of faith, family, and second chances. I highly recommend Rescued Faith if you love inspirational romantic suspense!

Rescued Faith
by Lisa Phillips, Michelle Sass Aleckson
Book 6 in the Last Chance Fire and Rescue series
Rating: 4/5

As always, the authors deliver an exceptional story with realistic characters and adrenaline-filled adventures and suspense that will keep you reading until the end. Penny is back in Last Chance County and still drawn to Bryce, the playboy firefighter who broke her heart. They are swept back together by a case and unable to avoid each other. Can they make amends for the mistakes of the past? Since Bryce show Penny how much he’s changed and hasn’t gotten over her? The chemistry between the two main characters is swoon worthy and the redemptive arc is endearing. Faith is woven throughout which only adds to the story.

Highly recommend if you enjoy Christian, nonstop action and suspense wrapped around a beautiful second chances romance.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

Michelle has a real gift for Romantic Suspense. I knew going into this book that I was going to love it simply because she had written it. And somehow, despite that, she still managed to exceed my expectations.

I LOVED Bryce and Penny's story. I loved getting to see Jude and Andi again, I loved the push and pull, will they won't they of Bryce and Penny's romance and I loved the faith that weaved its way beautifully into this story.

The mystery and danger kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book. I had to finish reading that last 150 pages once I started because I just had to know how it all ended. The action continued right up until the very end and everything about this novel was just exceptional.

I also really loved both Bryce and Penny's faith journeys. They were very different but rooted in the same desire to be known, to be loved and for someone bigger to have their backs. I love that this journey also led both of them to see how well they fit together and I hope it's not the last we hear from them!

Well done, as always, Michelle! You have a forever reader in me!

This story was suspenseful and action packed from the first page right till the end!

Penny was strong, courageous and fierce, but also struggled with some doubts and insecurities which kept her back from happiness and a full life.

Bryce is part of a family of heroes. But he struggles with living up to expectations. He finds himself in dangerous situations trying to keep others safe. I enjoyed getting to spend time with Bryce and see how he tried to get himself and Penny out of these situations.

The plot kept me engaged and guessing and took me on paths I did not expect.

Rescued Faith is book 6 of the Last Chance Fire and Rescue series, and it is fantastic! Private Detective Penny Mitchell returns to Last Chance County while working a case. Rescue firefighter Bryce Crawford has a past with Penny that he has to overcome. Bryce and Penny have to work together on a task force to try to bring down criminals that have no conscience. The characters in this book are well written, easy to relate to and bring out all the feelings in the reader. In the midst of struggles the storyline shines the light on forgiveness and redemption. The action is fast paced, edge of your seat and keeps the reader ready to turn the page.

Buckle up book reading friends!

Michelle Sass Aleckson and Lisa Phillips have put their brilliant heads together and crated a barn burner of a book!

And yes, things do burn in this story.

Including relationships. Specifically one that went up in flames years ago but now we find a slow burn in its place.

Lots of action. I mean, LOTS of action! But no action goes unknotted and nothing gets tangled that isn’t meant to be so. I don’t know how they kept everything straight but they did, and they did it with style!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m not under any obligation and my review has not been solicited.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED RESCUED FAITH!! Michelle Sass Aleckson hit paydirt when she penned this story. All of the action, danger, moments of trust and faith revealed the truth of love hidden in Penny's heart for Bryce. Together, they have a mystery to solve, bad guys to catch, as well as citizens and family to save. All law enforcement and the fire department in Last Chance County band together to put an end to dangerous games. Throughout all of this, will Penny and Bryce regain the love they once had? Will Penny's heart and mind open to the fact that God loves her? I believe that Aleckson drove home two facts: that our faith can set you free and that love conquers all. I truly was on the edge of my seat during this thrilling ride!! I give Rescued Faith 5 out of 5 stars!!

“”I’m sorry I left without saying anything.””

Rescued Faith by Michelle Sass Aleckson is the latest release in the Last Chance Fire and Rescue. If you love a good second chance romance this is a book you’ll want to check out.

Penny is an ex ATF Agent now a private investigator. Her latest case brings her back to Last Chance county and to her ex. I love reading about Penny! She definitely isn’t one to sit on the side lines, which I love. I loved seeing her interact with characters from previous books. Her relationship with Bryce is such a good one! I love reading about them over coming their struggles.

Bryce is a Rescue firefighter who is just trying to do his job and forget about Penny and the heartache she brought him. Which is hard to do when Penny shows back up in town. I love Bryce and his journey with dealing with his new faith. It was something relatable. I also loved seeing his relationship with his family. We’ve meet them in a previous book in the series (Expired Promise), so it was nice to see them again and see how they’re doing. The banter between Bryce and Penny was good.

Rescued Faith is part of a series but the author did such a good job that it can be read as a standalone. If you are curious about when we first meet Bryce and his family, just check out Expired Promise.

If you love a good second chance romance or a faith finding book, then this is the book to read. It’s a quick read and you’ll love all the characters. It definitely will make you want to go and read the whole series!

These thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you Sunrise Publish for the ARC.

Sometimes a second chance is a blessing, even if you do not see it at first. I kept thinking about this as I read this book and soaked up Penny's challenges as she attempted to move on and put the past behind her. Penny did not think she deserved a second chance. Bryce, on the other hand, found his second chance in his faith, which has helped him move forward with his life. His faith has allowed him to see the sunshine after the rain. He so badly wants Penny to see he is a new man and to see the difference in his life.

Both Penny and Bryce have trauma in their past that has shaped their lives. However, Penny has let the past completely engulf her present circumstances, to the point that she cannot see the forest for the trees. I really did like Penny. She was single minded in her quest for justice and seeking to protect those that she loves and even those she has been instructed to protect. I also liked that Bryce was patient with Penny. He knew change does not happen overnight, unless that change happens through faith. Knowing this fact, he allowed his actions to speak louder than his words.

The second chance romance was a bittersweet and challenging, which made it enjoyable to read. But I am always excited to see major action and suspense in these stories. There were some hair raising scenes that will give you goosebumps. Both of their jobs are dangerous. Penny and Bryce were true heroes. This cleverly crafted mystery will keep you intrigued.

Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rescued Faith by Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson is a heart-pounding romantic suspense that gripped me from the first page and didn’t let go. Returning to Last Chance County felt like coming home—full of danger, faith, second chances, and heart.

I loved Bryce and Penny’s story! I’m a sucker for second chance romance, and this one was everything I hoped for—equal parts emotional, redemptive, and action-packed. Penny’s journey especially reminded me that if I limit myself to “one try only,” I might miss out on the beautiful moments God still has in store.

Even though I haven’t read the first four books in the series (yet!), I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It also made me super excited for Logan and Tori’s upcoming stories in the Chasing Fire: Alaska series. 🙌

The faith threads are so thoughtfully woven, and I especially loved the connection between the three-cord thread and what kept Jesus on the cross. Watching these characters bring their past grief and trauma into the light and transform it into healing was both powerful and uplifting.

Penny and Bryce were both easy to root for—flawed, real, and growing. And their chemistry? Just the right amount of tension and sweetness for a closed-door romance.

This book left me with peace, things to ponder, and a deeper appreciation for how God sometimes brings us back to where we started in order to finish the healing.

If you love romantic suspense filled with heart, redemption, and hope—this one needs to be on your list.

ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

My rating is 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I enjoyed this! I've read from Michelle Sass Aleckson before and she writes an icy FMC well! The conflict had more moving parts than I expected. It kept the momentum going but ended up feeling a bit squished to me, especially as the conflict was rising.

I'd have to say I enjoyed the first half more than the second half, feeling that it drew me in more and felt more developed. However, I think Penny and Bryce's characters were well-defined and consistent throughout. I thought the faith content was okay. I had high expectations because I have also read The Way You Love Me by this author and absolutely adored that book.

This is part of an interconnected series and I would say it would have benefitted my reading experience to have read the other books but I didn't feel too at a loss for not having done so. I'm no stickler for reading interconnected series in order though.

I was gifted an eARC to read and review but these are my honest thoughts.

In this book: second chance, firefighter hero, icy/P.I. heroine, he falls first, reverse grumpy x sunshine, faith arc, close-knit community/family

Content Guide: clean for romance and language; the violence is frequent but non-descriptive; faith content = medium amount

CW: hostage situations, arson, bombings, non-descriptive/brief on-page shootings resulting in death/murder

This is a good, contemporary crime book with Christian themes.

The writing is well paced and kept me wanting more. The story was believable and had some twists and turns.

This is number 6 in the series but can be read as a stand alone. The caveat with that is you will be filled in on some of the big reveals from previous books (which may or may not bother you if you wanted to read them).

I enjoyed getting to know Penny and Bryce. They are both great people who have been through a lot.

Penny just wants to do her job and stay unattached. She thinks if she stays away from people and only depends on herself, she is less likely to get hurt (to be fair, she has been burned in the past due to caring).

Bryce is everything you could want in a guy. Caring, kind, protective, and not too bad on the eyes. He loves working as a firefighter and is all about his extended family. All he wants is a family of his own. The only problem is he only wants it with one girl: the girl who ran away from him in the past, Penny.

When Penny and Bryce are thrown together through their jobs to solve crime in lost chance county, they can’t help but to have their feelings get involved.

Rescued Faith is a fantastic new novel by Lisa Phillips that had me rethinking the romantic suspense genre! I love how deep the faith issues went, while also remaining edgy and relatable to new and struggling Christians. I often hear that people think Christian books can't compete, but Rescued Faith proves that wrong!

Even though Christian themes take center stage in this book, the suspense is also a leading character. The action is non-stop, proved by the continual bleeding and hospital visits by the main characters, and I loved how this all played out. The perfect of high stakes action!

Followed close on the heals of faith and suspense, though, was flirty tension. The main characters have a past, and it's not buried as deep as they might like. I love the way that these questions were addressed and this added a new dimension of drama throughout the story.

So if you're a fan of action, suspense, and hot-but-clean romance, Rescued Faith is the book for you.

The last place Penny wanted to be was Last Chance County. But sometimes the last place you want to be is exactly where God wants you.
Bryce has always been the guy to hang out with and have a fun time. But he has changed. Or at least is trying to change. Why is it so hard to share with his friends and coworkers about it?
Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson have written a story that shows how God has a plan for your life. Even if you don't believe He actually exists. He has a plan for you. Even if you basically hide that He is in your life. He has a plan for you.
And that plan is the best plan for you. It may be a hard path of releasing things from your past, or sharing things about your "now", but it brings healing and a future that He has planned. I loved the way these authors showed how both Penny and Bryce needed to trust God. To have Him be an intimate part of their lives.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. I have voluntarily written this review and it is my honest opinion of the book.

The story of Penny and Bryce was so good for the soul in all honesty. I love a good Christian romantic suspense and I really appreciated this one! Fun fact, I used to not be the biggest fan of second chance romance stories a couple years ago but have been eating them up over this past year - this second chance story was very beautiful and an amazing reminder of why multiple chances are important (kind of just like how we get many in the eyes of God!) ❤️

The suspense in this was riveting and the story was action-packed, which had me really enjoying it but simultaneously nervous 🙈 I loved both main characters and their personalities as well as their hard work, and also admired seeing them come together.

Rescued Faith is fast paced, full of swoony romance, and will keep readers on their toes. I loved reading this second chance romance. Penny and Bryce make the perfect pair - especially in the romance department!

Bryce though, he's the one who really stole my heart. His new found faith and the way he navigated through life and trying to adjust (because he is a new creation!) was just so wonderful to read. You typically see that from a girl's perspective, and so I really welcomed that in this story. And let's not forget the high octane suspense! Aleckson really packs a punch and has readers sitting on the edge of their seat the entire time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Romantic suspense fans will not be able to put it down. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rescued Faith

This is a wonderful faith based romantic suspense story. It is an action packed second chance at romance book. Penny is a private investigator following a woman whose brother has been placed in police custody elsewhere. It is her job to determine if the woman knows of her brother’s illegal activities. She follows her back to Last Chance County where her sister’s family lives as well as her ex boyfriend, Bryce Crawford. Bryce is a firefighter who specializes in explosives. When there is an explosion at a warehouse, he is surprised his ex girlfriend, Penny Mitchell is in extreme danger. They go on a wild and dangerous ride as they try to discover who is responsible for the fires and explosions happening in the county. I highly recommend this exciting book for your reading pleasure.

The second book in the new season of the Last Chance Fire and Rescue series, Rescue Faith, starts off with a bang, and that intensity continues throughout the story.

Rescue Faith is a second chance, explosive, suspense novel filled with redemption. It is extremely well written, and Michelle brought the characters to life! Penny's struggles, stresses, and fears combined with Bryce's wrestle with redemption and desire for a second chance with Penny turned into an epic story.

"Until you're not. Penny, letting others in, letting God in, doesn't make you weak the way Dad told us. It makes you stronger.”

“Rescued Faith,” by Lisa Phillips and Michelle Sass Aleckson is a part of the series, “Last Chance Fire and Rescue.”

Penny doesn’t need help. She is fine with the way things are. She can’t risk certain things or relationships to interfere in any way.

Zack was fine till her reappearance…or was he? But, then again, no one knows the “new” Zack. They expect differently.

Can Penny come to know Him? Can Zack prove who he is?

Great story by Phillips and Aleckson. Filled with adventure, mystery, and will leave you hunting for more clues. If you like books by Irene Hannon, you will love this book.

When Penny Mitchell left Last Chance and Bryce Mitchell, she thought that chapter, be it unfinished, was closed. But when she is called back to work on a case, she must face her fears and explore the possibilities of second chances. I enjoyed reading the story of grace and forgiveness and the faith of Bryce.

You are sure to be turning pages quickly to find out what happens next with the case that Penny and Bryce are investigating. If you enjoy action and firefighter romances, check out this book. It is part of the Last Chance Fire and Rescue series, but it can be read as a standalone.

This return to Last Chance County was just as thrilling and hard to put down as I expected it to be. I enjoyed reading about Penny's journey to faith as well as her and Bryce attempting to move on from past mistakes. The villains were truly diabolical and despicable, and the heroes were easy to cheer for. It was nice to see some loose ends wrapped up from an earlier book in the series, and the threads of truth and faith woven through the story fit perfectly. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys inspirational suspense, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was a good Christian Romantic Suspense. I’ve read every book in this series and I’m getting pumped as I’m seeing hints being laid for the Chasing Fire: Alaska series coming in just a few months. These characters are great - some known and loved for books and others newer. This romance puts together a firefighter and a private investigator as cases collide. It was a wonderful second chance romance with forced proximity and layered with faith, family, and touches of politics (the character profession, not the content). The first half was good but the second half really gripped me. I’m super excited to continue on with these characters. This is a just kisses romance. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

In Rescued Faith, we have a second-chance romance between Private Investigator Penny Marshall and Firefighter Bryce Crawford. Kidnapping, explosions, and a gang turf war keep the pages turning. Penny and Bryce race against time to stop the bad guys. Will they also find each other and trust in a brighter future? There’s only one way to find out. Run, don’t walk, to get your copy today!
