Barry Logan’s day starts out shitty and continues to go down the crapper. His car breaks down in the Middle of Nowhere, Colorado. The only mechanic for miles is out of town, forcing Barry to hole up and await his return. Bored and hungry, Barry goes to the town’s only bar in search of food and entertainment. The former is almost inedible, but his interest in the latter is piqued when two specimens of cowboy perfection walk in.
Barry has always had a thing for cowboys, and he’s been on a mission to get up close and personal with as many as possible before flying home to England. Having two cowboys at the same time would be a new experience, and one Barry is eager to try. So when the two men leave the bar, Barry follows in hot pursuit. He overhears them arguing about whose turn it is to bottom that night. Without thinking, Barry offers his services.
Jimmy Pierce and Jake Wilson drive Barry back to the Double J ranch for a night of wild passion he won’t forget. The next morning, Barry wakes in an empty bed to a beeping smoke alarm. It seems the ranch cook quit the night before, leaving Jimmy, Jake, and their three ranch hands to fend for themselves.
Barry immediately takes charge. His cooking meets with everyone’s approval, and he agrees to stay on both in the kitchen and in Jimmy’s and Jake’s bed. The two cowboys are physically demonstrative, both with each other as well as with Barry, who finds himself falling fast for both of them. It’s like a dream come true -- Barry has two men and a job he loves.
But petty jealousies, rivalries, and miscommunications threaten to shatter the dream, and when Barry’s scheming ex shows up, things get even worse. Sandwiched between two cowboy lovers, has Barry bitten off more than he can chew?
Having read all the decent free fiction on the net Drew could find, he set out to try his hand at writing something himself. Fed up reading about characters who were super-wealthy, impossibly handsome, and incredibly well-endowed, Drew determined to make his characters real and believable.
Drew lives a quiet life in the north of England with his cat. Someday he hopes to meet the kind of man he writes about.
I didn't think it was possible to f'up something so beautifully f'ing simple as a cowboy sandwich but apparently this story done f'd it up this side of something stupid. That's just a damn shame because it started out something juicy..
..and really f'ing sexy until it started creeping so far up the asshole of a cliche it was like elbow-to-asshole-crowded-stupid. And so when a mean cur of a 'Cujo' ranch-dog suddenly-morphs-into-Rin-Tin-Tin f'ing belly-side-up for a rub-a-dub-dub w/the British-hokey-bloke main character..I just had to eye-roll-on out of there.
But I got me some juicy highlights in and added me a perty new fella to my growing collection and rustled up my own cowboy-sandwich Smitty-style. Aborted at 32%
Ok, I broke down and bought it. I feel supremely let down by the Amazon sample. I thought I was getting a manwich but instead I got a sandwich with a lot of sweet relish. Sugartown, USA.
Now, normally I love a sweet story, especially after I've read a really intense book (cue obsessive mention of Boystown: Three Nick Nowak Mysteries) but in this case it was such a jarring change from the sample I was, well, jarred.
For the love of jeebus, people, it mentions something slightly kinky - birthday spankings, perhaps? - then it FADES TO BLACK. The book spends way too much time kissing boo boos left by a mean daddy, a visit from a douche bag ex & ridiculous misunderstandings.
All this might've been fine if I hadn't been expecting oodles & oodles of delicious spit-roasting.
*Sigh*
However, the Amazon sample is still quite nice. I recommend that for my dirty-minded brethren.
Ok, so I didn't actually read this book - I need more reviews before I'll give up $6.99. I'm only starring the first chapter or so (i.e. the hot man lovin'.)
However, I must recommend the sample on Amazon. Instead of leaving off at the good stuff, the sample actually has a THREESOME.
The MC Barry does go on way too long about his disappointing ride into town (after his car breaks down) with a fat, farting tow truck driver.
Yes, Barry, we all understand you're disappointed you didn't get to live out your tow truck driver fantasy - now get to the FUCKING COWBOYS.
However, eventually he does find himself in the promised "sandwich" with 2 competitive cowboys I couldn't tell apart - but who gives a shit!
An m/m/m and the title is Cowboy Sandwich! Seriously, how can I not read this?
Ok two cowboys and an Englishman walk into a bar…no really, that’s what happens.
Barry decides to try and fulfill his cowboy sex fantasy while traveling through the US. One evening he sees two hot cowboys and the idea surpassed his imagination and expectations. Jake and Jimmy have been a couple for years, but when Barry, the cute English muffin (or is it a scone? Or a biscuit?) volunteers to be the filling in their cowboy sandwich they jump at the chance.
Jake and Jimmy have the habit of sprouting cheesy dialog during sex and they have a weird fetish for wearing red and blue respectively and exclusively. They are also very competitive and love to insult each other, but I liked it. It was funny and silly and sort of juvenile. It was cute watching Barry try and keep them both feeling evenly appreciated and feeling like equally hot and sexy cowboy studs.
It’s also one of the few (very few) books I’ve read that gives a small peek at the less than sexy side effects of anal sex, which again, I thought was funny and original.
Barry takes over the household, cooking and trying to keep the red and blue cowboys in line. The ranch hands love him and he’s something of an animal whisperer and the sex is exactly what he’s always wanted. Barry is in cowboy-sandwich heaven. This might also be a good book for foodies. There are quite a few cooking descriptions and holiday meal preparations. There are some of the typical issues and problems covered in this book, nothing really different or new but an enjoyable ménage book all the same.
I found this a fun, easy read, not angsty or difficult. The cowboys were fun in their sometimes OTT behavior and I liked British Barry quite a bit too.
All in all a cowboy sex-fest meal with a side of sweetness, a dash of silly and a cup of cuteness in puppy form named Rex. A good addition to my ménage story addiction.
Words cannot express how disappointed I am to have to DNF this book, but I have to throw the towel in at 26%.
The blurb looked fantastic. I was giddy like a school girl. If you haven't noticed, I'm partial to a smutty/slutty read and this looked to be a slam dunk. Unfortunately, twas not to be. For me.
The train started to come off the tracks with the corny dialogue. I got suckerpunched with the "wet fart" that got unleashed after Barry got sandwiched the first time-a skosh too much realism for my delicate constitution/escapist reading pleasure. The cooking tips while inventive take up far too much page time for what's essentially PWP. Then the dog, Rex, got his junk checked out by all three and that, my friends, was the beginning of the end.
Cowboy Sandwich focuses far too much on mundane details and the writing feels clunky. Even at my measly 26%, I should've been interested in the characters and/or story, but the stilted dialogue coupled with the two knuckleheads who keep grabbing their dicks as an "incentive package" for Barry to remain as their cook muddled the picture and torched any interested I had. The characters of Jimmy and Jake are ridiculously competitive to the point of silliness. They are caricaturist representations of cowboys that border on offensive, towards cowboys, that is. I cannot fathom that these are two grown adults who own and operate a ranch together. They snipe and heckle each other constantly which was juvenile and grating.
So... I had to throw the towel in. Perhaps others will be able to overlook my stumbling blocks. Sorry I can't count myself among them.
I'd like to thank JMS Books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Pure fluffy cowboy fun. The banter/teasing/competition between Jimmy and Jake got a bit wearing for me. They were so similar, the author might as well have just gone the whole "twincest" route, because that's kinda how they acted to me. They knew each other so well, and picked and poked and teased just like brothers do. I guess because they grew up together.
I did feel things rushed a bit with Barry, random British guy who offers him up to be the meat in a cowboy sandwich. The sex was fairly hot, interspersed with genuine moments you don't usually see in romance (farting, anyone?), which was actually a nice change of pace for myself. I mean, face it, a household full of men, there is GOING to be farting! It's just the nature of the beast!
All in all, this was a sweet, light, fairly angst free story, with a few minor spelling issues.
This book sounded so promising in the synopsis and turned out to be so disappointing. I rarely give two stars or poor reviews, because I'm fairly easy to entertain in my books. But this ended up so annoying as the two cowboy main characters were constantly bickering and were described as "competitive". Ha! They didn't need to argue about who has better what throughout most of the book, that gets old real quick. They weren't redeemed enough to make me like them, and if I can't enjoy the characters I'm certainly not going to like the book. I didn't even like the way the sex scenes were described, I actually felt sorry for the 3rd guy. Big thumbs down, sorry.
A little syrupy and cliche but good light fast read. Feminized the main character a bit more than I would have cared for and fairly one-dimensional supporting characters, but it was ok for the type of story this was. Of course, a few of the physical encounters were a bit convoluted, but still enjoyable.
All the ridiculousness aside, this was a story without enough conflict, and still happened to be kinda sweet. Even despite the stupid things the two cowboy lovers say to their ex-Englishman love. So, yeah, it was okay... Kinda.
Caution - don't read this book if you are hungry - it will only make it worse. There is so much talking about food in this story, don't really understand that. I enjoyed this story, I was a little concerned at first because m/m/m stories either work or they don't, especially when you have a long term couple involved and they bring in a third person. I found this one somewhat in the middle. The three of them worked together as a trio for the most part, but just some parts just seemed a bit off for me. There were some parts of the book that were a little cheesy and eye rolling, but the story worked for me and ended up being a good read.
This was actually fun to read. I did enjoy the banter between Jake and Jimmy and I totally get where it comes from. I loved their tender moments the best though. Barry has a fun and very honest voice. However too much tearing/weeping goes on.
In summary, this is a fun, entertaining and refreshingly honest read.
3.5 ** Manwich** stars.. Definitely not what I was expecting with all the lovey dovey and recipe references... But when the boys got to it... Well they got to it!!
Barry's car broke down in the middle of nowhere Colorado, and the mechanic is out of town because of a death, so Barry is stuck and bored. He decides to hit up a local bar to get some food and kill time, while there he sees Jimmy and Jake. Jimmy and Jake are a couple that like to one up each other and argue about everything, including whose turn it is to top. Barry offers up himself to the two men, so neither of them have to bottom.
Barry, Jimmy and Jake all were good characters, they each had small issues that they were able to overcome throughout the book. There was some small angst that was resolved pretty quickly, but otherwise a sweet book about three men finding their way into a relationship.
This book, much like its title, is quirky and fun. There was an amusing mix of complete fantasy (Barry's animal super powers!) and realism (post-coital farts!).
I think the reason Drew Hunt was able to pull it off is because it was tongue-in-cheek. The book definitely doesn't take itself too seriously. Barry often notes how ridiculous some things are - especially the extremely childish antics of Jimmy and Jake.
Another thing I liked was the food. The descriptions sounded so good and I found myself wondering if the cooking tips Barry offered when people asked were "real." They seemed like they would work to me! All the food descriptions and group gatherings definitely added to the "comfort" vibe I go while reading the book.
Speaking of the group, there was a great supporting cast. I wish there was a separate book about
So, I'm giving this one four ("really liked it") stars. My advice is to go into this one knowing it will be corny and comforting and light-hearted. If you want something more serious, try something else.
Side note: The latter portion of the book takes place over the holidays, so I think it's a fun holiday read as well. I found myself humming Christmas carols by the end. ;)
Just day-to-day life on a ranch in Colorado. Right! Everyone is accepted ranch and Jake and Jimmy are welcoming when a 'replacement cook' shows up just in time! Even the dog and a horse come around to his warm way of dealing with everyone.
I love a menage that works, and this one 'takes the cake!' The British twist on our holidays is wonderful, the men 'just work together' in the relationship and Barry wins over all but Jimmy's dad. I don't think Jimmy's dad will ever be accepting.
This is most likely viewed as erotica by many readers, but I put it squarely in the romance department. No one who plans the retreat at the cabin could view it any other way.
I'm really looking forward to the next story in the sequence. Maybe Bess' backbone will become even stronger!

The blurb suggested that there would be a lot of fighting, jealousy and evil scheming, but that wasn’t the case. The book is great though, even without the ‘big events’.
It’s mostly a character-based story about three men finding a way to be together. Jimmy and Jake have always been together, since they were kids. Barry is dropped into an existing relationship, and a good one at that.
Jake and Jimmy are a real pair! They constantly nag and insult each other, but it’s what they do. It’s almost like pet names.
At first Barry has a hard time with their competitiveness, but he soon learns Jimmy somehow needs it. His youth hasn’t been all that happy, so he needs something to fight against. Jake gives him everything he needs.
Barry fits right in, he understands and loves the two cowboys instantly and completely.
The two cowboys have a weird color fetish, which is hilarious. A lot of the story is very humorous, but it takes nothing away from the strong emotional story-line.
To me, this was a laugh and a tear kind of book. I loved it. The only thing I could say is that there was a lot of sex…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It just didn’t need it. The story would have worked out just as great without it, but it’s not a bad thing.

OMG!!! I only read the sample but that was enough for me. This was so so cheesy it was ridiculous. "Red" and "Blue" we're so over the top it was hard to keep reading for the sex. They bickered and complained to each other so much that they were like drunken frat brothers than lovers. And the sex. Well it was the most unsexy sex I have ever read. It was only good for a laugh honestly. I'm all for realism in fiction but when Barry does a wet fart after being bottom for both of them it was the final nail in the book coffin for me. I just didn't like any of the characters or the way the story was headed. So disappointed because I love Cowboys.

I really liked the story. Usually I don't enjoy MMM romances, outside the paranormal genre, because the authors write the characters like they are so broken that a normal relationship is not enough to mend them. It kind of gives the feeling that polyamourous relationships are only for people with issues. This one did not give me that vibe. They were just 3 guys who started with hot sex and ended with more.
Fab read, Light, fun, cheesey, often messy, passionate and full of jests!! Loved that Barry was Delia Smith incarnate, the recipe tips and menu' s were mouth watering...although I may give the apple pie and chili's a miss!!! Simply, this is a book to absorb, will put a smile on you face and encourage the odd giggle out loud! Recommend to read!!
I got this book in the goodreads giveaway and was very excited about it. I Loved Loved this book<3 It was really sweet, some parts were corny:) but others Whewww!!!!Sexyyyy;) one of the scenes in particular Dammm;P I would totally recommend this book.
It was original... and I enjoyed it enough to keep reading till it was finished but I just feel like the main character, the chef/Englishman, was a little too self-deprecating and really not confident enough to be in ménage.
Oh and I want someone to cook for me like in this book.
I liked all the MCs. Jimmy and Jake were a bit annoying with their childish rivalry but I grew fond of them. Simple read, not much plot but the romance made up for it...sort off. There were some loose ends...id read part 2 if the writer publishes it.
