National bestselling author Kathleen Dante is an inveterate reader who began reading romances with her mother’s Mills & Boons at age 8. Although romance dominates her library, she enjoys scifi/fantasy, manga, encyclopedias, dictionaries and the occasional non-fiction.

She made her first stab at writing fiction when she was 9 and was traumatized when it sounded awful read aloud. Creative writing courses in college provided additional trauma when she was forced to attempt the Extremely Short story. After that disaster, she set aside all hopes of fiction-writing.

Discovering Emma Holly and Angela Knight opened Kathleen’s eyes to a new world of possibilities, one that gave life to the characters of her imagination. Inspired by eyecandy and the examples of others, she returned to fiction-writing after a hiatus of over a decade.

A refugee from the world of trade journalism, Kathleen started her first novel in 2003 — and almost never finished it due to work pressures. In 2004, fed up with office politics, she quit her job to devote time to her writing and looked back only to sigh in relief over her harrowing escape.

What's this?! A hot erotica with an actual plot? Amazing!
Heroine: I loved that she was so take charge. She was unafraid of her own sexuality and saved herself rather than relying on someone else to do it. She was guarded but she let the hero in without a whole lot of trouble. I wouldn't have minded some more development on her family though and her relationship with them. Also while the whole lamia thing is interesting, it's not exactly true to the actual myths which at most depict the lamia as a half woman-half snake, still not a shape shifter. At the very least this needed a little more development. Rory is said to be able to take any human form-yet she only ever takes that of a female and she takes a pointedly unhuman shape in one scene.
Hero: Boy was he yummy and totally free to enter my dreams at any time. He's an assassin which ok is bad...but he's remarkably uncruel for someone who kills for a living. At every turn he is kind and caring to the heroine, but is still enough of an alpha type not to be a pushover. I found the incubus aspect very interesting but would have liked a bit more detail on exactly how that all works for him.
Romance: While i loved these two together and i personally didn't have an issue with this i can see people saying that the relationship happened too fast or that it was based on sex. These two complimented each other well Rory's playfulness lightened Damon's seriousness and his experience helped her through some pretty dark stuff. However these two never really got to just know each other. While the situation led to high emotions and interesting times, how someone reacts in a crisis/adrenaline rush is not going to be the same as how they are just normally so in real life i could totally see their romance going downhill. However this is fiction and the couple worked and they actually spent quite a while together before saying i love yous.
Sex scenes: ohmygod hot! these two set the pages on fire and every scene was different which was impressive considering how many there were. Bonus points for not having plain old missionary in every scene and for having a hero that really knows his way around the female body. Seriously ladies...don't read this one in public.
Plot: Normally when i read erotica i prepare myself for (hopefully) wonderful sex scenes but a plot thats pretty sub par just acting to string sex scenes along. I have never been so happy to be disappointed! Even if you removed all the sex scenes the plot would still be able to stand on its own (though it would be infinitely shorter). It has plenty of action with the romance/sex scenes offering some downtime and the whole super secret spy aspect was pretty thrilling. Definitely never a boring moment. While it was fast paced it was never to a point where you lost track of what was going on.
Writing: Wonderful though perhaps a tad lofty for the style (i had to look up tons of words). I found no errors or awkward places. The story flowed extremely well and the author walked several fine lines without falling into pitfalls that i hate (for instance keeping the sex scenes steamy without being vulgar).

Bottom line: While this book could have used a little more development in some places I loved it. Would highly recommend and would definitely read more by this author

Hot, sexy Damon Venizélos is the Dreamwalker, and he can visit my dreams anytime. An incubus and a special agent, tall, sexy and built – seems like the perfect man, until you realize he can kill you when he visits your dreams. Rory is a born shapeshifter and a master thief – a close guarded secret that no one outside her family is aware of. When Damon needs Rory’s help to rescue a stolen nuke neither one of them know what they are getting in to.

Rory is so drawn to Damon that she makes sex a condition of their agreement -- in other words, no sex, no help…Damon is happy to agree to that stipulation. Together they sneak into Kosovo into a world of prostitution, drugs, gangs and murder. Constantly looking over their shoulders they work to find and take the nuke before it is sold to the highest bidder.

Dreamwalker is an excellent story, suspenseful, action packed and sensual. Kathleen Dante manages to make two paranormal characters real – draws you into their lives and their quest. A complex plot with more than enough twists and turns to keep you breathless, Dreamwalker is a wonderful read. The suspense of the mission was more than enough to keep me involved but when you add in the titillating relationship which grows between Damon and Rory you are not going to want to put down the book until you’ve turned the last page. I hope we can visit with this couple again in the future.

Exceptionally well-drawn characters and the most detailed action/spy stuff I've ever read in an erotic romance (and not just the love scenes). The romantic conflict was believable and well-developed. The paranormal element only added to the thrill. Something else I really appreciated was that although the love scenes were plentiful, they were always perfectly well-placed, never felt thrown in or too frequent or get-it-over-with-and-get-on-with-the-story. I was thankful to read this as an e-book with access to a dictionary. I wouldn't recommend reading it without having one handy.

If you love the word carnal then you will love reading Dante's sex scenes. She uses it over and over and over again. She was in need of a Thesaurus. Every time I saw "carnal" I was taken right out of the story.

The whole book felt very cold. The sex scenes are Boring!

The thing that is just sad is that the concept was really fresh with the dream-walking and shifting but in my opinion it failed in the delivery.

different take on paranormal. author needs to keep the action by having characters do more stuff and meet more challanges and conflicts especially in the emotional realm.. the sex scenes are too manufactured and mechanical.. where is the real gut emotion?

Dreamwalker
3 Stars

Synopsis:
Damon Venizelos is an incubus or dreamwalker, who works as an assassin for the US government and kills people in their sleep. His latest mission is to recruit master thief and shapeshifter, Rory diScipio, for the most dangerous job of her life – stealing a nuclear weapon from terrorists. As the two work closely together, they risk not only their lives but their hearts as well.

Review:
The premise is extremely appealing; unfortunately, the execution is weak and disappointing. The dream sequences ultimately distract from the plot and characterization, and the book would have been better as a traditional espionage romance without the added paranormal elements.

The terrorist plot is alright even though certain events within the reconnaissance storyline (such as the abuse toward prostitutes and the marks Damon kills) have an artificial feel to them and do not contribute to the overall story.

The romance is contrived and the sex scenes repetitive. They add very little to the relationship between the hero/heroine, which remains superficial and underdeveloped. In terms of characterization, Damon and Rory’s backgrounds and motivations are hinted at but never fully materialize, which makes it difficult for the reader to become immersed in their story. Their connection is based almost solely on sex and is neither intense nor emotional.

This is a first time author for me and I may read another of her books if I stumble across it but I won’t be seeking them out.

This one got better as it went...but frankly it didn't have anywhere to go but up. The opening scene where she measures his crotch with her hands?!? Really? Don't most people just shake hands and call it a day? And if they are both "supernatural" (and I use the term loosely), then why didn't either one of them recognize that the other is different? I guess a lot of this book just didn't work for me - or was too easy. I'm kinda sorry I read it, to be honest. At least, I had only checked it out from the library and didn't actually hand over hard earned money for it. That's my happy thought.

I liked the two main characters, the female was brave and strong willed with a touch of femininity. Aurora was a great character to read from and follow. Damon was sweet when you expected him to be harsh, it was a nice change of pace from these types of novels and their ideal "hero". The only thing that kept me from loving this book was her loose end of a family as well as the author losing me a few times with some of her banter between the characters, I felt like I was missing a page. All in all its a readable book but not something ill be thinking on days but it was enjoyable while I was in the midst.

This was my first Kathleen Dante book and it won't be my last. She writes a taut moving story with well flushed characters and fast pacing. Rory is intriguing. Her ability to shapeshift is amazing and beautifully described. Damon is strong mental and physically. His motivations are well defined and he is the perfect (while still being flawed) hero. Their crazy ride to steal a portable nuke is a rollercoaster ride of events and passion. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to picking up more from this author.

This book isn't your ordinary paranormal erotica and I didn't expect this book to be good.
Damon, which is my favorite of this book is one hot fella. Great body, long black hair, mysterious and totally hot! Is a trained assassinate who uses dreams to kill. Seriously, a man who who can seduce you in your sleep, I think I don't want to wake up anymore.
This book is intriguing, full of action and romance. A must read.

The story is OK but the sex is HOT and frequent. If that's what you're looking for then it's all good. OK, you'll need a "friend" of one kind or another to help you through this book. For the best idea of what this book is about check out this video synopsis of it

Except for the overuse of some words such as 'rapture' and 'adonis' which are super cheesy, this was actually well written! A healthy mix of mature content and a good paced action adventure with a great plot. Although the characters weren't super developed it was enough to keep me invested in their connection. It was definitely a fun read!

I am reading the book and so far I'm not seeing the usual type of paranormal attached to "Paranormal Romance".

It is really just 2 people with extraordinary gifts(that's what I interpret it as in this book) solving human problems, doing human things and having great sex.

I have no problem with books veering off the normal route but this one is not for me.

Main characters are a covert operative, Damon, who is a succubus, and a lamia/shape shifter master thief, Rory. They get paired on a job to recover a suitcase nuke and, of course, fall in love. Fun read but nothing special.
