Vincent Hargrove was just a guy trying to build a life.
A quiet trade job. A modest home. The woman he swore he'd love forever.
Until the lies shattered everything.
Betrayed by the only person he trusted, haunted by a past no one talks about. Vince loses everything—his wife, his future, even his will to live, and vanishes into the unforgiving wilds of Oregon.
But isolation doesn’t erase betrayal, and when his ex resurfaces with her smug new fiancé and a bitter legal ambush, Vince is dragged into a war he didn’t start… but he damn sure plans to finish.
With nothing but a run-down cabin and a reckless, loyal pup named Bandi Vince finds himself in the face of unexpected danger and a new set of enemies.
Fueled by rage, old wounds, and the last shreds of his broken soul, Vince has nothing left to lose, and all the time in the world to make them pay.
Stone Cold is a relentless emotional gut-punch of justice, trauma, and survival.
⭐️ 4.5 Star Review for Stone Cold by J.V. Osborne ⭐️
Wow — just, wow! I just finished Stone Cold, and all I can say is well done, John! This book completely surprised me in the best way possible. It’s not my usual genre, so I honestly went into it a little hesitant… but I’m so glad I stepped outside my comfort zone because this story grabbed hold of my heart and didn’t let go.
From the very first pages, I felt deeply connected to Vince — a man broken by betrayal, trying to rebuild from the ashes of everything he’s lost. The emotional weight of his story hit hard, but what really impressed me was how seamlessly Osborne balanced that raw pain with action, grit, and even a few moments of quiet beauty. And Bandi, the loyal pup? Absolutely stole my heart. 🐾
The second half of the story was just as strong as the first — action-packed and intense, yet every plot thread and character arc tied up perfectly. The ending felt satisfying and real, wrapping everything up “in a pretty little bow,” but not in a way that felt forced.
This book is more than just a story of revenge and survival — it’s a deeply human tale about loss, resilience, and redemption. It’s the kind of story that sticks with you long after you turn the last page.
So, to the author — thank you for sharing this incredible work. Stone Cold now has a permanent spot in my heart. And I have to ask… any chance of a sequel? Because I’m definitely not ready to say goodbye to Vince just yet. 💛
Whew! What a ride! There is so much going on in this book- from the first chapter forward! In each of the chapters- there’s another BIG event- most of them caused my heart to race! You’ve got family drama, loss, love, revenge, survival, new beginnings- and there’s even a dog!! (Don’t worry- nothing bad happens to the dog!)
I became emotionally invested in this story and several of the characters’ lives. Even though there was so much going on, EVERYTHING happening in the story was resolved by the end! Truly amazing! Nothing was left unanswered for me.
This is my first book by John Osborne, but it will certainly not be my last! I highly recommend this to all my reading friends who enjoy fast paced thrillers with relatable characters.
Stone Cold was an intense but believable book. The characters make you feel something for them. Even some of the bad ones. The good ones definitely made you want to rally. I'm not a spice girl. The book got its point across without too much detail. That was refreshing for me. A lot happened in this book. It all fit with the characters and definitely seemed possible. It was a pleasure to read this book.
