Vikram has written a good book on how he found passion in the forests of Kabini. His description of the muddy roads of kabini triggers a safari through memory lane. His journaling has helped maintain and preserve a book of memories of how kabini was to the current.
While it sounds anecdotal, I found this book extremely philosophical. It gives a perspective about wildlife which is so different from the crass commercialisation of the wildlife tourism that is evident today. Makes you think- what is more satisfying? An hour of absorbing the silence, sounds and solitude of the wild, or the adrenaline rush of seeing a large cat in the wild.
This a fantastic book for anyone who is planning a trip to Kabini or any other South India (or India in general) wildlife trip. I also enjoyed being inside the mind of a professional naturalist and resort manager Great book. Simple, very short episodic format.
