Yet another humorous and thrilling Kay Driscoll adventure.
I'm an author living in northern Wisconsin. Like Kay Driscoll, in my cozy mystery series, I'm a retired public health nurse who volunteers at her local free clinic. An avid reader of mysteries, I'm a member of Sisters in Crime, Inc. and the Wisconsin Writers Association.
My published works include: The Ginseng Conspiracy (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 1), Murder Under the Tree (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 2), Murder by Fireworks (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 3), Paradise Can Be Murder (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 4), Murder Misunderstood (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 5), The Neighborhood (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 6), Repercussions (A Kay Driscoll Mystery Book 7), A Manhattan Murder Mystery (An Irina Curtius Mystery), Dress to Kill (An Irina Curtius Mystery Book 2) "October 31st", "Midsummer", and "John and Madeline."
My town in northern Wisconsin was an inspiration for the quaint setting of my novels. Ninety-five percent of American ginseng is grown in Wisconsin. I live with my husband, William, and have two sons who are both married and also live in Wisconsin.
When not writing, I love to travel, bicycle, kayak, and create culinary magic in my kitchen. I work in stained glass, daydream in my organic garden, stay up late reading mysteries, and eat lots of chocolate.
As always, for me reading a Kay Driscoll mystery is like visiting with old friends. Nothing changes yet everything changes. Again poor Phil is having trouble finding and keeping a drummer. The perfect drummer has appeared and is working out well, until he falls off the stage in grand style. Of course Kay decides to investigate, much against Phil's wishes. Elizabeth, who has had two mystery books published, is working on her third. While she has her own idea about what will solve the case quickly, Kay and the new chief of police, Chief Trifon, have their doubts. Deidre has expanded her tea and plant shop to include homemade scones made with organic flour shipped from Colorado, and the scones are a a big hit. Much to Deidre's delight. Never fear though, Sweet Marissa's Patisserie is still the go to place for decadent treats. This story has a few twists and turns and even Phil knows more than Kay, and he doesn't share. Time for you to take a break, sit down and enjoy a visit with friends.

Review:
The characters are well rounded and three dimensional. Kay, Deidre and Elizabeth are back together for another adventure. Elizabeth has been seeing copycat murders at every turn. Deidre’s tea room is unbelievably busy, but what is the real reason? And when Phil, Susan’s husband, has a new drummer, there are problems with him. When a murder is committed, the ladies will have to figure out who the culprit is.
The author is very talented in her descriptive and through most of the book I felt like I I was right there watching all of the action taking place. The writing style flows smoothly and there were plenty of suspects to consider and clues to sift through. The mystery was well plotted and not easily solved. I did not figure out the culprit until it was revealed at the end.
I would highly recommend this book to any one who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. Whenever I read one of her books, I feel like I am visiting her and her friends and that makes me very happy.
Loved it! I've read the whole Kay Driscoll series and enjoyed every one of them, but I think this is my favorite, because Bernhardt's subtle humor harmonizes so well with the story that I found myself smiling from ear to ear as I turned the pages as quickly as I could. Kay and her friends are once again sleuthing for a killer in the quiet small town of Sudbury Falls where the murder rate is beginning to rival that of Cabbot's Cove. (And it has a patisserie to die for! Did I mention the tempting food element of this book. I swear I gained pounds reading it.) Who killed the musician? The mystery is well plotted, the characters relatable, and the gossip juicy. I also enjoy the love story between Kay and her husband. It embraces you with its depth and authenticity. Repercussions it is a perfect cozy mystery, and I highly recommend it.
If you are a cozy reader, you will enjoy the latest release, Repercussions, in the Kay Driscoll series by Susan Bernhardt. The author's exceptional storytelling skills weave a couple of mysteries within the pages of this book--why are the scones at the Patisserie so popular with customers and who killed the drummer in Susan's husband's band? I enjoyed returning to Sudbury Falls and joining Susan and her friends in solving the murder. Repercussions has all the elements to entice a cozy mystery reader to keep turning the pages to a satisfying ending. I recommend reading each book in the Kay Driscoll series this fall and winter.
Another fun read by Susan Bernhardt. Certainly a home run! Highly recommend! And don’t worry, if you don’t like hazelnut-flavored coffee, Kay—our favorite sleuth in this cozy—doesn’t either.
I've enjoyed all of Susan Bernhardt's books. Since it had be a while since I read #6, it took me just a minute to remember all the characters from previous installments. Didn't take long to catch up. Hoping there is another installment on the way...please!!
This is a delightful addition to a wonderful series. There are twists and turns as the mystery unfolds, but what makes this a real winner is the endearing cast of characters. I hope Book 8 is out soon.
